Comment on ‘Oppenheimer’ (2023) Review by William Lazarus

William Lazarus — Wed, 09 Aug 2023 19:03:39 +0000

The sound quality of this film is horrendous. The subject is weighty, and the film is fairly dramatic. Too bad it so lacks much context of the McCarthy era’s red scare.
It would have been nice if (and people I know) had been able to hear all the words rather than 80% of them.

“taking the kind of risks that you wouldn’t see in a Marvel property”
…like letting middle school boys write and produce?
“one of the greatest of all time”?
Did you actually watch this astoundingly bad movie????

I have a theory that they didn’t let Tyrese read the script for this movie and made him improv all of his scenes.

I disagree. For me this movie is as generic as it can be. It’s something i watched a lot. Same cliche, very weak jokes, weak action or action that i’ve seen million times. What sane person would like car chases in 2021. This is so 2010x…
A bit drama nobody cares about.
To sum up my rating is meh (5/10).
And I wouldn’t recommend this to moviegoers. Maybe for children that didn’t see many movies.

Hey, what do you think about “Free guy”?
I dunno but although it was not bad (in the middle, game world was nice with good graphics) but real world was so lame especially their villain.
After suicide squad free guy feels mediocre at best. Too much dancing around without any point

Sadly, autoincorrect is at work again. My above sentence about the skull creaturs is meant to say, a totally deletable scene set.

Comment on ‘Godzilla vs Kong’ (2021) Review by A A Henri

A A Henri — Sat, 19 Jun 2021 17:24:40 +0000

I watched the movie twice and was disappointed by the same things, both times. The story seemed to drag on and on. Noticeable was the poor dialogue painfully executed by good actors. Scene transition was disjointed and poor. Obvious were the two story lines about Kong and Godzilla, but they were not melded, except by their meetings and fights. The brief inclusion of the skull creatures from Skull Island fit nowhere other than to give Mechagodzilla something to destroy. A totally delectable set of scenes. That the military was still trying to destroy both “Titans” with the same weapons was absurd. The only part of the movie I enjoyed was the interaction between Kong and the little girl (typical of old Godzilla movies with the child often more intelligent than the adults) and both Kong and Godzilla assisting one another to destroy Mechagodzilla and apparently ending their feud. I didn’t relate anything in the movie to Kaiju, although this critic mentioned them often. Godzilla King of Monsters and Kong Skull Island were far better movies than this disappointment, and I’ve loved Godzilla movies since I was a little girl, a very long time ago.

It was too much for me, the preamble to the finale, the constant back and forth-ing between times and worlds made me tired….I kept thinking get to the big showdown already!! Maybe I was tired…. That being said, I did appreciate and enjoy the spectacle of it and the really cool one-liners and priceless facial expressions sprinkled throughout.

In reply to Georgette. Trust me, there are way more surprises that this review doesn't even touch on. Scissors are the least.

Well…haven’t given much thought to that. I just know that while watching, all I could see was Brie in Room then it got me second-guessing her Oscar for that.

So my research consultant (Google) has shown me several articles about other actresses who were allegedly considered for the role. Based on these rumours, I’d go with Charlize Theron because she’s a better actress and would’ve possibly allowed me to better connect with Danvers.

I’ve seen too many bad reviews online so kudos to this! Personally, I found it hard to connect with the main character (I don’t think Brie was the best pick) and the first half was a drag (reminded me of Interstellar) but the film picked up, answered some crucial questions and ultimately delivered.
