My first semester in Millersville University

Everyone has to make make choice in their life, and I made the most great choice in my life which is transfer to Millersville University. I had spent one and a half year in a Florida University and already finish my freshman year. It was a very hard decision, but time had proved it was a great choice.

I had study ESL class for this semester. When I heard this at the first time, I was not so happy, but after those classes begun, they are definitely different than I thought, every class was useful and full of energy. I really like my instructors which are Mrs. Janet and Mrs. Maria, that was a great time. Mrs. Janet taught me many speaking skills and how to improve my pronunciation. Mrs. Maria taught me how to write a very good outline before every essay. I’m sure my English had developed a lot in this semester.

I got a lot of help when I first came to this University. Mrs. Kristin, Mrs. Christina and Mr. Dean, they all from Global education, which is the most helpful program for international students in this University. I remember when I first came here Mr.Dean leaded me to my room, Mrs. Kristin and Mrs. Christina told me how to register my classes, and we had many great time during our Field trip.

Whatever happens, thanks for everyone in this University give me a great semester. I think this is the place where I want finish my University life.

Homestead Village

Last three we had a very exciting trip to homestead village . During this trip I made two good friends, Dave and Patti. They are all very good person, I’m glad to have friend like them. We had some great time teogther . We talked about famliy, culture, study and travel experience. Mr. Dave was a engineer when he was young and he also was a radio operator, Mrs Patti was a teacher and office manager. I really like share travel experiences with them cause I like travel too, when we talk about travel experiences frist time, I can’t believe they had been to so many countries, also Mr. Dave taught many about how to study in college level, they are very usefull for me.

We also shared many interesting part of American culture and Chinese culture, we talked about festival and food. Frist week I taught some Chinese words. And second week I talked about a very famous Chinese festivel called DuanWu festival, and I learned many thing about thanksgiving that week. Last week was the most exciting week we given a presentation about Chinese New Year, that was a very good time. I like the feeling of sharing interesting things of Chinese culture.

This is the goodest trip I have been in American and this is the frist I have learned so many things about American people’s daily life, and so many things about American culture, this is one of the most important class in my life.

Farm trip

Last week me and my friend went to a farm museum. And we had a great time there, this is also the frist time I had explore the history of Lancaster. This museum was not far away from our university, it took us half hour by car.

First we watched a short movie of the old German people lived in Lancaster. They traveled by ship from Europe and built a great farm here. After a long time this farm became the museum we went. After we finish this short movie we went to the frist room. I found some beautiful old gun there.I really like those old cowboys movie so for me this is the most interesting thing in this museum.

And I also found a old fan in this museum it looked like a Chinese one and also some old jewelry they looked very beautiful. In the outdoor part of the museum I found a big white horse.This was the frist time I try to understand history of USA, great museum and good experience.

One Important Tradition In China

“How can you become a lucky man?” Have you ever think about this question before? every country has their own definition of lucky, some country believe that black cats are unlucky or crows are unlucky. We also have those kind of things in China. In China some peoples’ job is help other people select which kind of thing is lucky, which are not, we call them “FengShui master”. FengShui has two part, first part is about house and building, and second part is about people.

In China if you invite a FengShui master to your house, first he will look at those plants around your house. If a tall tree block the window, the master will ask you to cut it down because it also block your way to be success. Also the orientation of the house is very important too eastward is the best. After this the master will take out his “LuoPan” it work like a compass, he will use it to detection the magnetic field around your house, if the magnetic field around your house is stable, your house should bring luck and peace for you.

Next part of “FengShui” is about people. First they will look at people’s face and the form of skull, they believe people who has Large forehead and fat earlobe will become very rich, like trump’s face.

This is a very important tradition in China, and most of Chinese people believe in this. Do you want use those kinds of things to be a lucky man

Fall traditions In China

Today I am thinking about traditions in my home country, cause the homecoming day will coming these days, it also making me think our fall tradition s China, and I think about a very important fall festival in china which is Mid-Autumn Festival.

In china we have a traditional festival called ” Mid-Autumn Festival”. Have you ever heard moon cake? We eat that in Mid Autumn Festival. Mid Autumn Festival is Aug 15th in Lunar Calendar, that is Oct 4th. Normally in that day we should stay with our family and have a very big dinner together, after the dinner we watch the moon and we light a lots of fireworks.

But I haven’t spend time with my family for 2 years, cause I am studying aboard, far a away from my hometown. This Mid Autumn Festival I missed my family so much. I’m very lucky my cousin mailed me some moon cake from New York, I ate them and looked at the moon all night. Because I think unless I can share the same moon light with my family together it made me better.

Farm Trip

I am a city boy, growing up in the city study in the city also live in the city, but last Friday I had a very exciting trip with my friends of global education. We went to a very big farm nearby our university. It is also the first time I had a trip to a farm.

I saw a lot of crops there, pair, pumpkin, corn, mum…….. they are so beautiful. I never seen those crops before.

And their is a very good store there with a lots of farm products and different kinds of bake food . I found a very big pumpkin and a very strange thing but I forgot its name again. And I like those mums very much. Before we came back to school I got a cake called pair dumpling it was very good.

That was a very exciting trip I will come back if I have time in the future.

Exploring Manor Shopping Center

Last Friday we had a very excited trip to Manor Shopping Center.My friend told me it is a very good place to having fun. So last Friday’s morning we took earliest bus which is 9:25am to go to the Manor Shopping Center.

The first place we found is a very big market named “Weis” there are many kind of food and drink, also you can get fruit, vegetable, meat and daily supplies in it. I also found a CVS there, if I feel uncomfortable in the future,I can come here and get some medicine. After this I found a video games and toys shop there are a lot of interesting stuff there, you can get Superman, Ironman, Jedi, and my favorite character in Overwatch which is DVA. I’m sure I will come back in my free time.

The only regret is that we don’t have enough time to watch a movie. When I have free time in the future I will come back and have a good time in Manor Shopping Center. After all of this we took 11:25am’s bus came back to school.

First week in millersville

For some people it is very difficult to move to a new place, such as me. I transfer from forlda to here and the first week for me is not so good. I went to millersville at 17th to get my paper work done and then I buy a air ticket back to Orlando, cause I had to pick up my stuff in forida, also I have a car in Fl too, it is a new and nice car I didn’t want to sell it to the dealer, so I took 17 hours drove to millersville such a crazy day. The day after this I moved in to the campus, a guy in global education helped me a lot,his name is Dan. After this I made my first friend here, his name is Jacob, which is my roommate he’s a very nice and funny guy. Lucky me nothing bad happen in frist week.
