Hello CAE interested people,
asking for a favour is difficult. This month marks 13 years of my (our) network that then became known as CAE Forum! I may say that the CAE Forum has created many “opportunities” in this past time.
People have got to know each other, exchanged knowledge, met again, supported or launched projects, found jobs and many a time made real friends.
All this over the years, in countless simulation regulars’ tables, 18 North German Simulation Forums and 12 joint stands at various trade fairs and other events.
In this newsletter I am now asking for your support for the first time.
Please: Donate, share and give positive feedback for the Crowdfunding CAE-Forum Sendezentrum to secure and expand the online activities of the network. It would be a really nice sign if many supporters could be found here.
Of course, as always, this CAE-News April is about the next events. The Virtuelle Simulations-Stammtisch will take place again on Thursday. Next week, the topic will be Lightweight Solutions. We have extended the call for papers for the 19. Norddeutschen Simulationsforum until the end of April and we are already looking forward to the return of the AI in Engineering event in June.
With the CAE Forum, we are partners of events twice. XR Week (all about virtual and augmented reality) will take place online in May and Lightcon is scheduled to take place in October Hybrid. We are currently discussing with Lightcon how the CAE Forum and interested companies can participate here (panel discussion, joint stand, lectures). If you are interested, please contact me.

22.04.2021 Virtueller Simulations Stammtisch
This Thursday it’s time again for the next simulation regulars’ table. Exchange, network and whoever wants to show their latest calculations. We will switch on the Zoom Meeting from 19:00 at the latest.
We will send the Zoom access data immediately before the event, by Thursday!
Will be held in German.
If you would like, we could organise an English-language “simulation regulars’ table” the week after, please let me know!

New formats, which in this case means one or two lectures with discussion and networking. In this case, it’s about new/old materials. Yves Mattern, CEO of Lignoa Leichtbau GmbH, will introduce us to solutions for fibre-oriented veneers, among other things.

The 19. Norddeutsche Simulationsforum will be held online on 17.06.2021. All interested parties are invited to submit an informal abstract (sent to info@cae-forum.de). The Norddeutsche Simulationsforum (NSF) offers the opportunity to present and discuss current methods and results of technical calculation and computer-aided simulation for applications in design, development and research in all industries. The forum welcomes contributions on analytical and numerical methods such as FEM, GEM, BEM, CFD, MKS, analytical etc..
In the supporting programme of the event, we offer companies the opportunity to present themselves and their services. Further information on request.

Consciously open to all sectors and companies, we exchange ideas at local online meetings and online conferences. More formats are planned, more on that soon, as we are currently planning a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

I just returned from Solutions Hamburg where I had the opportunity to talk to Stefan Ritt (Vice President/MD EMEA operations SPEE3D), Dr. Christian Keun (CEO – CompriseTec GmbH) and Henning Fehrmann (Managing Partner – Fehrmann GmbH) about the application and future of 3D printing.
CAE Lobbying
Here I (Dirk Pieper) was able to bring the CAE aspects into play, as at many other events before. It became clear that the software vender are well prepared to make predictions for additive manufacturing. Compared to other manufacturing processes, development is far from complete.
Thanks to the other participants and of course to Solutions Hamburg for providing the big stage (especially in corvid 19 times).

The starting point for the establishment of the network was the initiative of a volunteer working group of the Committee for Innovation of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Given the dynamic nature of 3D printing, a working group on 3D printing and virtual reality was formed in 2015 from the Chamber of Commerce’s Innovation Committee.

The CAE Forum is our involvement in 3D Printing Network Hamburg. The intersections in computation and in the entire CAE field are very large. In addition, the CAE Forum supports the Facebook Group 3D Drucker. This group deals with everything to do with 3D printing, from hobbies to the small business sector.
The next events of the CAE-Forum are the Simulation Stammtisch on 08.09.2020 and the 18th North German Simulation Forum on 05.11.2020, both events will be held as online events this year.
