OK, seems it doesn’t matter what I do, I am still getting multiple new spam blogs a day and the time taken to clean them out is non-trivial.

I have now disabled open sign-up. I would still dearly love to have genuine new bloggers and new blogs in the blog.me.uk domain. If you would like a blog here, please mail me and I will add you as a registered user.

Registered users may still create blogs so, if you are already registered, feel free to create further blogs as you desire.

Sorry about having to take this step; I will look into alternatives as soon as possible.

So far this site has generated around five real UK blogs and around 750 spam blogs.

I have installed all the anti-spam stuff I’ve found and have just had a cleanup of the blogs list, marking all the spammers as such.

HOWEVER, it is very likely that I have accidentally marked a genuine blog as spam. If your blog has disappeared, please mail me with the name of the blog and I will reinstate it.

It looks like I am going to have to instigate some kind of approvals process. While I have been cleaning up and writing this message, three new spammers have signed up (and been deleted).
