Inner Leadership, Global Impact with Lauren L’Amour

Lasting global impact begins with transforming how we lead ourselves.

Lauren L’Amour is a conscious leadership advisor, humanitarian, spiritual mentor and entrepreneur who has spent more than three decades exploring and putting this principle into practice.

She has built multimillion-dollar businesses, trained in psychology, supported humanitarian initiatives around the world and worked with an extraordinary range of people—from entrepreneurs and business leaders to diplomats, politicians, elite performers and changemakers.

Throughout these diverse experiences, Lauren has discovered that how we manage our thoughts, emotions and inner state doesn’t just affect our own lives and performance. It influences our families, teams, organisations, communities and ultimately the impact we are able to have in the world.

In this episode of The Business Elevation Show, Chris and Lauren explored what she has learned about inner leadership that many of us may still be missing.

They discussed intuition and inner guidance, emotional intelligence, resilience, the lessons Lauren has learned from working with extraordinary people, and how we can become a more stabilising and constructive presence for those around us.

They also explored Lauren’s humanitarian experiences, what she has learned from building communities and movements, and the ideas behind her forthcoming book, Sacred Habits, including practical ways we can create meaningful change from the inside out.

Finally, Lauren shared the remarkable story behind the Millions Meditating Alliance, born from a question she asked herself in meditation: “Given my life experiences, global network and desire to serve, what is mine to do?” Today, that answer is developing into an ambitious global movement to make meditation more accessible and help millions of people discover greater peace within themselves.

Join us for a fascinating and practical conversation about entrepreneurship, conscious leadership, human potential, meditation and why transforming how we lead ourselves can transform the impact we have on the world.

Here are some top takeaways from the interview you won’t want to miss:

1. Inner Leadership Is Fundamental to Lasting Impact

The conversation emphasised that meaningful, sustained change—whether personal or global—begins with leading oneself from the inside out. Cultivating “inner leadership” forms the basis for making a broader impact in one’s work and community.

2. Importance of Discipline and Small Habits

Simply knowing about self-development isn’t enough; discipline and the cultivation of daily habits are essential. Regularly checking in with oneself—“morning, noon, and night”—ensures ongoing alignment with one’s values and purpose.

3. Manage Your Mind to Manage Your Success

A recurring theme was the significant role of mindset in achieving goals, including financial ones. Practical tools like breathwork, gratitude practice, and proactive subconscious “mining” were highlighted as methods for staying centred and productive, which in turn can support business growth and success.

4. The Power of Purpose and Alignment

Living and working in alignment with your true purpose leads to energy, fulfillment, and success. Noticing what truly excites you is a clue to your own life’s direction. This sense of purpose can be regularly reinforced through affirmations, visual cues (like vision boards), and reflection.

5. Community and Support Make a Difference

Building and leaning on supportive communities or collectives provides essential encouragement and accountability, especially during difficult times. Vulnerability, humility, and shared purpose strengthen these bonds.

6. Practical Tools Can Shift State Quickly

Laura discussed simple, accessible tools—like mindful breathing and quick gratitude practices—that can quickly help leaders return to a positive, effective state, thus improving decision-making and relationships.

7. Success Is Rooted in Internal, Not Just External, Work

Leaders at all levels—whether in business, sports, or public service—ultimately rely on internal practices to sustain their success and happiness. Those who focus on inner leadership tend to achieve greater, more lasting results.

8. Money and Meaning Are Not Opposed

There’s nothing wrong with creating wealth—in fact, managing your mind and inner state often leads to stronger financial results. Being values-driven and pursuing meaningful goals can help generate significant value for yourself and others.

9. Consistency Leads to Mastery

Mastery, or spiritual/inner mastery, isn’t the result of a single insight but of consistent daily practice, supported by tools, reminders, and the right mindset.

10. “You Matter”

Lauren Lamour’s closing message was that every individual’s purpose and well-being matter, and seeking to find and live that purpose positively impacts both oneself and the wider world.

The Second Act Advantage: Why Your Best Years May Still Be Ahead with Jay Samit

What if everything you have learned, achieved and experienced so far isn’t the culmination of your career—but preparation for what could become your most meaningful chapter?

International bestselling author, entrepreneur and renowned disruption expert Jay Samit has spent decades at the forefront of technological and business change, working alongside some of the world’s most influential innovators and helping transform major organisations.

Yet after reaching the heights of corporate success, Jay found himself asking a different question: what next?

In this episode of The Business Elevation Show, Chris spoke with Jay about his new book, The Second Act Advantage, and why our experience, relationships, knowledge and perspective can become powerful assets for reinvention.

At a time when AI is radically reshaping work and longer lives are giving many of us decades of additional opportunity, how can we make those years truly count?

Drawing on inspiring examples and his own remarkable reinventions—from technology pioneer and corporate leader to author, teacher and artist—Jay shared how we can embrace change, identify new possibilities and turn everything we’ve learned into greater purpose, fulfilment and impact.

Here are some top takeaways from the interview you won’t want to miss:

The Power and Necessity of a Second Act

The conversation focused on how the rapid rise of AI and automation is disrupting traditional careers and making the idea of a “second act” not just desirable, but essential.

Many existing jobs are set to disappear, and individuals must learn to adapt, reinvent themselves, and find renewed purpose in their work and lives, regardless of age.

Chris and Jay explored how the second act is not about starting over from scratch, but leveraging decades of experience, relationships, and wisdom to make an even greater impact.

AI as an Empowerment Tool for Everyone

A key theme that emerged was the democratising potential of AI. Several points were raised, including that AI removes barriers to entrepreneurship and innovation by flattening access to knowledge, resources, and skill sets.

Today, anyone—regardless of background—can harness AI to identify opportunities, build products or businesses, and test ideas quickly and cheaply. This applies not just to experienced professionals, but also to young people starting out.

Purpose Over Profit

One concept discussed was the shift from chasing financial success alone to leading a purpose-driven life and business.

Purpose, impact, and serving others were continually highlighted as the true sources of fulfilment and longevity, both personally and within a career.

The discussion reinforced scientific findings that having a sense of mission (ikigai) is the best predictor of health and happiness, often surpassing wealth or status.

The Urgent Need for Adaptation in the Face of Disruption

The conversation focused on the massive economic upheaval already underway, with millions of jobs being automated globally and the middle class under threat.

Several points were raised, including warnings that government and society are not adapting quickly enough to these changes.

The discussion explored how individuals must take responsibility for their own futures, as waiting for systemic solutions may lead to hardship.

Anyone Can Make a Difference—Start Small, Start Now

The discussion explored the idea that everyone has unique insights from their life experience and that identifying and solving problems—even seemingly small ones—can lead to significant personal and societal change.

Noteworthy examples included individuals who, by pursuing a personally meaningful problem, created products or movements that improved lives for thousands or even millions.

Perseverance and insight were identified as the keys to entrepreneurial and social success, and listeners were urged to start a “side hustle” or project to build confidence and capability for the changing world.

From Grief to Belonging to the World with Barry Hoffner

What can a life spanning international investment banking, award-winning farming, humanitarian work and travel to almost every country on Earth teach us about success, loss, purpose and belonging?

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris was joined by entrepreneur, humanitarian, world traveller and author Barry Hoffner.

After a fifteen-year career in international investment banking that took him around the world, Barry chose a very different path, becoming a successful farmer of grapes and olives in California. His Silverwood Ranch olive oil went on to win multiple gold medals, while his grapes have been bottled as part of Francis Ford Coppola’s Archimedes wine.

Barry’s life changed profoundly in 2017 when his wife Jackie tragically died in Africa. Faced with devastating grief and a sense that perhaps the best part of his life was behind him, Barry began a remarkable journey that has now taken him to 192 countries and inspired his book, Belonging to the World. Through travel, curiosity and encounters with people from vastly different cultures, he began to discover a renewed sense of connection, meaning and belonging.

Together, Chris and Barry explored the lessons from his very different chapters in business and life, what investment banking and farming taught him about success and reinvention, and what travelling through some of the world’s most misunderstood places has revealed about risk, humanity and the stories we are told about one another.

They also discussed how Barry has channelled Jackie’s legacy into Caravan to Class and the Bourse Jackie programme, creating opportunities for young women across West Africa through education, leadership and public speaking.

Here are some top takeaways from the interview you won’t want to miss:

1. Turning Tragedy Into Purpose

Barry experienced a life-changing loss with the death of his wife in 2017, which he describes as his “year zero”. Rather than being defeated by grief, he eventually chose to seek meaning and reconnection by traveling, ultimately visiting 192 countries.

2. The Transformative Power of Travel

Travel served as both an escape and a journey towards healing for Barry. Initially, his global journeys were about occupying himself, but they evolved into intentional quests for connection with people and cultures around the world.

Firsthand experiences abroad gave him a more nuanced, personal view of different countries, often contrasting with the negative narratives seen in mainstream media.

3. The Value of Human Connection

Barry discovered that one can find common ground with people nearly everywhere, regardless of differences in background or culture. He highlighted the openness and kindness he received, such as being welcomed in Iraq despite anxieties about his Jewish heritage.

Even in countries considered dangerous or challenging, he found that fear often wasn’t realised; direct interactions with local people were overwhelmingly positive.

4. Building Community and Giving Back

After building a successful career in international finance and later as a farmer, Barry now channels his efforts into humanitarian work, specifically focusing on female education and empowerment in West Africa through Caravan to Class and the Bourse Jackie program.

These initiatives have built schools, provided scholarships, and developed leadership and public speaking skills among hundreds of young women.

5. Challenging Perceptions

Personal experiences in places like Afghanistan, Iran, and Syria showed Barry.that the reality of these societies can be radically different from the way media portrays them. He encouraged judgment based on firsthand experience rather than generalised fear or hostility.

6. Lessons for Business and Life

Openness to chance and being receptive to unexpected opportunities shaped much of Barry Hoffner’s journey and successes.

He learned the importance of community support, adaptability, and personal reinvention—whether managing a vineyard or navigating profound personal loss.

7. The Meaning of ‘Belonging to the World’

For Barry, true belonging means seeing the world not in terms of borders but in terms of people, impressions, and meaningful connections. He strives for next-level connection everywhere, whether abroad or at home.

He views himself as a globalist who believes in the wisdom and the transformative potential of engaging with the wider world.

Listen for a fascinating, moving and ultimately hopeful conversation about business, reinvention, resilience, grief and purpose—and what an extraordinary journey through life and around the world can teach us about connecting more deeply, finding meaning after loss and truly belonging to the world.

More about Barry Hoffner:

After a fifteen-year career in investment banking that took him around the world, Barry transitioned into a second career farming grapes and olives. His Silverwood Ranch olive oil has earned multiple gold medals, and his wine grapes have been bottled into Francis Ford Coppola’s Archimedes wine.

Today, Barry is the founder of Caravan to Class, a nonprofit he launched in 2010 to advance girls’ education in West Africa through the Bourse Jackie program, named in honor of his late wife. His book, Belonging to the World (Girl Friday Books), chronicles his journey to every country in the world following Jackie’s tragic passing in Africa in late 2017.

Cracking The Code of Human Connection with Jennifer K. Hill

In a world where artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, communicate and live, one thing has never been more valuable: genuine human connection.

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris was joined by entrepreneur, executive coach and community builder Jennifer K. Hill.

After successfully building and exiting her first company, Jennifer’s work evolved in an unexpected direction. Today, she brings together entrepreneurs, bestselling authors, thought leaders and change-makers from around the world through the Jen Hill Tribe—a global community dedicated to personal growth, conscious leadership and creating positive impact.

Together, Chris and Jennifer explored why meaningful relationships remain one of the greatest catalysts for personal and professional success, how generosity and service naturally create opportunity, and why building authentic communities may be one of the most important leadership skills of the future.

They also discussed how AI is transforming the way we connect, why technology should amplify rather than replace human relationships, and how each of us can become a positive force in the lives of others.

Here are some top takeaways from the interview you won’t want to miss:

1. Human Connection is a Superpower

Jennifer Hill is renowned for her extraordinary ability to facilitate human connections. She refers to herself as the “fairy godmother of human connection” and describes a “nodal network” in which she intuitively connects people based on resonance and compatibility, sometimes using methods like numerology.

2. Numerology and Compatibility

Jennifer utilises numerology (e.g., life path numbers) and cardology to understand personality compatibility in relationships and business. She claims high predictive accuracy in matching people for collaboration or friendship.

3. Tools for Self-Awareness and Growth

Some practical tools and frameworks recommended by Jennifer:

  • The Align app (Human Design & Gene Keys) to discover your innate gifts
  • Numerology.com and tokenrock.com for calculating life path numbers
  • HeartMath’s heart-focused breathing for stress reduction
  • The Sedona Method and Viktor Frankl’s paradoxical thinking for overcoming insomnia or anxiety
  • PSYCH-K (a method for reprogramming beliefs)

4. Embrace Self-Love

Jennifer stressed the vital importance of loving and cherishing oneself: “The secret to being the sexiest, most attractive, most desirable human in the world? Love and accept and cherish yourself”.

5. Building a Purposeful Community

The Jen Hill Tribe is a global, invitation-only community focused on conscious leadership, connection, and positive impact. Members support each other by offering resources and introductions to advance collective and individual goals.

6. Navigating AI and Connection

As AI and automation rise, human trust and connection will become even more valuable. Jennifer warned against anthropomorphising AI, emphasising the importance of maintaining authentic human relationships but also sees AI as a source of wisdom and support when used mindfully.

7. Spiritual Insights on Consciousness and Afterlife

Jennifer and Chris discussed fascinating ideas about the fundamental nature of consciousness, referencing Don Hoffman’s mathematical theory and Kabbalistic teachings. They suggested everything emerges from consciousness, and human experience is a finite expression of the infinite.

8. Practical Advice for Insomniacs & Entrepreneurs

For those whose busy minds interrupt sleep, Jennifer suggested paradoxical intention (“I hope I never fall asleep again”) and welcoming the state of being awake instead of fighting it—both grounded in psychological principles.

9. The Importance of Giving and Letting Go

Through numerology and spiritual frameworks, Jennifer believes people with certain profiles (like hers as a ‘9’) are called to repeatedly give and let go, embracing the cycles of completion and renewal as a path to less suffering.

Listen for an inspiring and practical conversation about conscious leadership, generosity, community, human potential and why, in an increasingly digital world, authentic connection may be our greatest super-power.

Why Relationships Matter More Than Ever In The Age of AI with Judy Robinett

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, communicate and do business. Information is becoming instantly accessible, content can be created in seconds, and technology is opening up opportunities that would have seemed unimaginable just a few years ago.

Yet in a world increasingly shaped by AI, relationships may be more important than ever.

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris was joined by internationally renowned entrepreneur, investor and bestselling author Judy Robinett, one of the world’s leading experts on strategic networking and relationship capital.

Best known for her books How to Be a Power Connector and Cracking the Funding Code, Judy has spent decades helping entrepreneurs, leaders and changemakers build the relationships that accelerate success, create opportunity and generate meaningful impact.

Drawing on insights from the World Economic Forum in Davos, her work as Managing Director of WhipSmart Ventures, and a lifetime of connecting exceptional people, Judy shared why human connection, trust, curiosity and collaboration remain essential ingredients for success in an increasingly technological world.

Together, Chris and Judy explored how leaders can build authentic relationships, create opportunities through connection, harness the potential of AI without losing the human touch, and position themselves for success in a rapidly changing future.

Here are some top takeaways from the interview you won’t want to miss:

1. The Critical Importance of Relationships in the Age of AI

Despite rapid advances in AI and technology, human relationships, creativity, and the personal touch remain irreplaceable and are arguably even more essential in business success and innovation.

Personal connections enable opportunities, access, and value that technology alone cannot provide.

2. Overcoming Shyness and Building Confidence

Many people mislabel themselves as shy when it is often a matter of self-confidence. Confidence grows from action, not just positive thinking or reading books.

A practical tool: Keep a “victory log” of achievements to remind yourself of your capabilities and build confidence.

3. Practical Networking Strategies

Start with your existing network: List your top 25 connections and focus on individuals who are kind, competent, and generous.

It’s often a small group (3–7 people) who provide the majority of valuable opportunities, so nurture those relationships authentically.

Use the “three golden questions”:

  1. How can I help you?
  2. What advice might you have for me?
  3. Who else do you know I should talk to?

4. Leveraging AI as a Relationship Tool

Use AI to research people before meetings and to identify shared interests or relevant background, enhancing your ability to connect.

However, don’t let AI write everything for you: Your unique voice and brand can be diluted if AI is overused in communications.

5. Curiosity and Lifelong Learning

Curiosity is essential for building relationships and overcoming fear. Most people are happy to talk if approached with genuine interest.

Keep learning through books, conversations, and news—stay informed and open to new perspectives.

6. The Power of Generosity and Connecting Others

Making introductions and connecting people is powerful; it creates goodwill and often leads to reciprocal value and unexpected opportunities.

Asking for help or advice actually signals competence, not weakness.

7. The Changing Landscape of Venture Capital and Space Investment

There are increasing opportunities for innovation in sectors like space, defence, and robotics, especially in the mid-stage funding gap.

AI is transforming entrepreneurship—making it possible to start and scale businesses rapidly.

8. Optimism and Perspective on the Future

Judy expressed optimism about the future, pointing out that every era brings fears about change, but also new opportunities for those who stay positive and attentive.

Technologies developed for space or defense often result in breakthroughs and benefits for everyday life on Earth.

Listen for a timely, practical and inspiring conversation about leadership, innovation, opportunity and why the right relationships still have the power to change everything.

Following a deeply challenging period in his own life, Nima embarked on a transformational journey to understand why unresolved emotional wounds continue to shape our relationships, our leadership and the way we respond under pressure.

Today, he helps people break free from trauma bonds, regulate their nervous systems and create healthier, more secure relationships.

Drawing on neuroscience, attachment theory, polyvagal theory and his own lived experience, Nima explained why our triggers are not something to suppress or avoid—they are powerful opportunities for growth and healing.

Together, Chris and Nima explored why success in business doesn’t always translate into fulfilment in life, how childhood experiences continue to influence us as adults, and what it takes to become a calming presence for our families, teams and communities.

Listen for an honest, practical and deeply insightful conversation about emotional resilience, leadership, parenting, relationships and how becoming “trigger-proof” can help us create stronger connections and healthier lives.

Here are some insights from the interview you don’t want to miss:

1. Emotional Triggers Stem from Unresolved Wounds

Nima emphasised that triggers in leadership, relationships, or personal achievement often originate from unresolved emotional wounds, many of which trace back to early childhood experiences or intergenerational patterns.

2. The Role of the Nervous System & Polyvagal Theory

Understanding the autonomic nervous system, particularly the vagus nerve and its branches (polyvagal theory), is essential for self-regulation. Awareness of one’s physiological state—fight, flight, freeze, or fawn—allows for conscious intervention to return to safety.

3. Self-Regulation is Foundational to Change

Rather than striving for “triggerless” existence, becoming “trigger-proof” means learning to pause, recognise bodily sensations, and respond thoughtfully, not reactively. This is a skill that must be practiced and embodied, not just understood cognitively.

4. The Cycle of Achievement and Scarcity

Many high performers and entrepreneurs unconsciously chase success, validation, or external approval to fill internal voids or feelings of not being enough. Without addressing underlying wounds, achievement alone rarely leads to lasting fulfillment.

5. Projection and the Human Shadow

Our unacknowledged insecurities and unmet needs are often projected onto others. This can damage personal and professional relationships, as individuals unconsciously blame others rather than acknowledging their role in a dynamic.

6. Authenticity Comes from Integrating the Shadow

True authenticity emerges when individuals do the inner work to process their shame, unmet needs, and limiting stories, rather than seeking constant validation or hiding behind personas.

7. Personal Growth is a Lifelong (and Messy) Journey

Nima stressed that transformation is messy and involves continual reflection and integration. Even those who teach these principles are not immune to old patterns but can gain tools for quicker, more compassionate responses.

8. Support and Community Are Vital

Nobody can do this work in isolation. Openness to seeking help, joining communities, or engaging with resources and coaching is crucial for lasting change.

9. It Ends With You

While emotional wounds often don’t start with us (they are intergenerational), consciously choosing to address and heal them prevents passing them further down the line—to children, teams, or others.

10. Practical Entry Points

Nima offered practical starting points: self-assessment quizzes, shadow work practices, and structured programs to help identify current patterns and move toward emotional regulation and leadership from the heart.

Combining neuroscience, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, somatic practices, shadow integration, and transformational coaching, Nima helps clients move beyond intellectual insight to lasting embodied change. He teaches that becoming “trigger-proof” isn’t about avoiding emotional triggers, but learning how to regulate the nervous system, interrupt unconscious patterns, and respond from a place of greater self-awareness and emotional safety.

Nima is passionate about helping people break cycles of trauma, co-dependency, and self-abandonment so they can create healthier relationships, stronger families, and more authentic connections. How to Get People to Tell You Everything with Brad Beeler

Every day we rely on conversations. Whether we are leading teams, raising families, negotiating deals, building relationships or making important decisions, our success often depends on our ability to build trust, understand people and uncover the truth.

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris was joined by retired United States Secret Service Special Agent Brad Beeler, author of the new book Tell Me Everything.

During a remarkable 25-year career, Brad protected U.S. presidents and foreign heads of state, conducted more criminal polygraph examinations than anyone in Secret Service history, investigated major crimes ranging from counterfeiting and homicide to terrorism and crimes against children, and now helps train interviewing and interrogation professionals within the U.S. military.

Drawing on decades of experience in some of the world’s most challenging and high-pressure situations, Brad revealed what he has learned about trust, communication, influence and human behaviour.

He explained why people often struggle to connect, how great communicators create environments where others feel safe to open up, and what leaders can learn from the techniques used by elite investigators.

Together, Chris and Brad explored the psychology of trust, the power of curiosity, the importance of first impressions, how to navigate difficult conversations, and why understanding people may be one of the most valuable skills we can develop in an increasingly complex world.

Here are some insights from the interview you don’t want to miss:

1. Building Trust Is Foundational

The truth comes after trust is established. People won’t share openly unless they like, trust, and respect you. Investing in rapport—discussing topics like family, education, employment, and leisure—creates this fertile ground for honest conversations.

2. Understand, Don’t Judge

Rather than judging people for their actions, focus on understanding their background and perspective. Withholding judgment helps create an environment where people feel safe to share sensitive information.

3. Leverage Similarities to Build Connection

Finding or referencing shared interests, backgrounds, or experiences—whether genuine or researched in advance—can build fast rapport and make others more comfortable opening up. This principle applies in positive interactions and is also exploited in scams or manipulation, underlining the importance of being thoughtful about what is shared online.

4. The Polygraph Is a Tool—Not Infallible

Polygraphs should not be used in court but can be valuable investigative tools for focusing inquiries. They measure physiological responses to questions but are highly dependent on timing, conditions, and the examiner’s skill.

5. Setup and Environment Matter

Creating a safe, private, comfortable environment (proper temperature, seating at the same level, no barriers like big desks, and removing distractions like phones) signals that it’s safe to be honest. The way a conversation starts—by saying things like “There’s nothing you can tell me I haven’t heard before”—can also open people up.

6. Physical and Vocal Cues Influence Receptivity

First impressions are crucial. Subtle behaviours—a genuine smile, a dry and warm handshake, open body language, eye contact, and using someone’s name—affect how others perceive and trust you.

Lowering your voice and slowing your pace during sensitive parts of conversations signals confidentiality and helps people feel safe to share.

7. Manage Cognitive Bias and Gut Reactions

It’s easy to be misled by first impressions and confirmation bias. Avoid labelling people as “good” or “bad” based on initial perceptions or stereotypes. Multiple, consistent interactions are more reliable in revealing character.

8. Let Others Talk (Especially Those with Ego)

Talking less and letting the other person speak 80% of the time not only reveals more information but also satisfies their need for self-expression, especially with narcissistic or egotistical individuals.

9. Monitor Nonverbal and Verbal Clues Actively

Pay attention to the words people choose, their timing in answering yes/no questions, and nonverbal reactions after you speak. Delays or overly specific qualifiers can be indicators to probe further.

10. Take Care of Yourself (Emotional Hygiene)

Absorbing heavy or traumatic content regularly can take a toll. Decompress after tough conversations—whether by speaking to a counsellor, establishing rituals to separate work from home, or engaging in physical activity. Men especially need to be encouraged to seek support when needed.

11. The Core Message: Leave People Better Than You Found Them

Strive to approach every interaction with curiosity and empathy, aiming to view things from the other person’s perspective. By doing so, you’ll build trust, encourage openness, and foster better personal and professional relationships

Open Your Mind: Curiosity, Consciousness and Human Potential with Nick Cook

What happens when an award-winning defence journalist, known for investigating cutting-edge military technology and classified programmes, begins asking some of the biggest questions about consciousness, reality and human potential?

Nick Cook is a bestselling author, award-winning investigative journalist, strategist and storyteller whose career has spanned defence, aerospace, advanced technology, sustainability and consciousness studies.

A former Senior Editor at Jane’s Defence Weekly and four-time Aerospace Journalist of the Year, Nick built an international reputation investigating cutting-edge technologies and classified military programmes. He is the author of the bestselling The Hunt for Zero Point and The Grid, named one of The Times Top Ten Thrillers of 2019.

Today, Nick is founder of the EXO Institute, which explores how emerging ideas around consciousness, human potential and science can help address some of humanity’s greatest challenges.

In this thought-provoking conversation, Chris explored Nick’s remarkable journey from defence journalist to explorer of some of the biggest questions facing humanity.

Together they discussed curiosity, innovation, consciousness, leadership, global challenges and why expanding our thinking may be essential to creating a better future.

Here are some insights from the interview you don’t want to miss:

1. The Value of Curiosity and Open-Mindedness

Nick emphasised the importance of curiosity and maintaining an open mind throughout his career, which began in a conventional field (defence journalism) and led him into investigating more unconventional topics such as consciousness, human potential, and anomalies at the edge of mainstream science.

2. Childhood Experiences Influence Life Trajectory

Nick shared how a split upbringing between the UK and various countries in the Middle East and North Africa exposed him to a diverse world view early in life, instilling in him a sense of wonder and curiosity that influenced his choice of career.

3. Investigative Journalism in Defence Exposed Hidden Realities

Nick discussed his work uncovering classified military programs (so-called “black programs”) and the existence of layers of secrecy in defence technology, noting the immense sophistication used to develop and hide advanced capabilities.

He highlighted the role of investigative journalism in bringing to light what is usually hidden from public view, and how following the money trails and building relationships with sources allowed access to deeper truths within the field.

4. Openness to Fringe Concepts is Increasing

Topics that were once considered taboo or heretical, such as UFOs, anti-gravity, telepathy, and consciousness studies, are gradually becoming more mainstream as evidence and public curiosity grows.

5. Shared and Near-Death Experiences Prompted New Inquiries

A profound personal experience, witnessing his wife have a shared death experience at her mother’s passing, led Nick Cook to investigate topics of consciousness. This personal journey contributed to a deep dive into the science and anecdotal evidence around human perception, near-death experiences, and the potential for a new understanding of consciousness.

6. Paradigm Shifts are Driven by Anomalies (“Finch Moments”)

Nick likened the emergence of anomalies in consciousness research to Darwin’s observations of finches: clues that the current scientific paradigm is incomplete and on the verge of shifting. Such anomalies include remote viewing, telepathy, synchronicity, and credible reports of UFO phenomena.

7. The Need for a Shift in Thinking

While technology has advanced rapidly, societal progress in thinking, mindset, and consciousness has lagged, impeding humanity’s ability to solve global issues such as conflict, climate change, and resource scarcity. Nick believes a new, consciousness-led paradigm is necessary to address these challenges effectively.

8. The Purpose of EXO Institute

Nick co-founded the EXO Institute to brief leaders in business, technology, government, and policy on the emerging science of consciousness, aiming to prepare sectors for a coming paradigm shift that could unlock tremendous human potential.

9. Hope for Humanity

Despite current global turmoil, Nick Cook remains hopeful that a shift in human consciousness is possible, which could lead to a more enlightened and harmonious era for humanity – if we are willing to change our thinking and embrace new paradigms.

Unlocking Your Genius with Gaia Ferreira

What if the future of health and wellbeing wasn’t about generic advice, but about understanding the unique blueprint that makes each of us who we are?

What if the key to greater health, fulfilment and sustainable success lies not in working harder, but in understanding ourselves more deeply?

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris Cooper was joined by transformation coach and behavioural strategist Gaia Ferreira, creator of the Gene2Genius method. Gaia is on a mission to democratise health and wellbeing by helping people decode their genetic blueprint, life story and innate genius so they can thrive in both business and life.

Having reinvented herself several times—from an international technology executive to entrepreneur, Cordon Bleu chef, television presenter and now a pioneer in whole-human transformation—Gaia brings together biology, psychology and identity consciousness to help people understand why they become stuck, burnt out or disconnected, and how they can create lasting, sustainable change.

Together, Chris and Gaia explored why health and wellbeing should never be a luxury for the few, how personalised approaches are changing the future of human potential, and why understanding the whole person—not just the symptoms—is becoming one of the most important conversations of our time.

Here are some insights from the interview you don’t want to miss:

1. Unlocking Your Unique Blueprint

Gaia Ferreira emphasised that true health, fulfillment, and sustainable success are not achieved by generic advice, but by understanding and honoring each individual’s unique genetic, psychological, and energetic blueprint.

2. Life’s Turning Points Shape Growth

Major events such as burnout, grief, and health challenges deeply impact our wellbeing and can serve as key turning points for personal evolution.

Reflecting on her own burnout and personal losses, Gaia shared how these experiences redirected her to focus on well-being beyond career “profit”.

3. Democratising Health and Wellbeing

Health should be a right, not a privilege; however, current systems often restrict access to cutting-edge, personalised well-being resources to those who are wealthy or time-rich.

Gaia is developing an app and platform to make genetic and holistic health insights accessible to a wider range of people—especially those most in need, like single parents and the time- or resource-poor.

4. The Limits and Dangers of the Current Healthcare System

The modern medical system tends to focus on treating symptoms rather than root causes, sometimes failing to listen to patients and making preventable errors.

Personal experience highlighted the dangers of overburdened systems and the vital need to advocate for oneself—sometimes non-experts know when things aren’t right, and their knowledge should be respected.

5. Importance of Individualisation Over Generic Self-Improvement

Many personal development and wellness systems “push” people into generic boxes, creating stress and disconnection when those boxes don’t fit.

Gaia Ferreira advocates for a “pull” approach—drawing out each person’s natural strengths, energies, and rhythms, such as honouring your individual circadian rhythm or innate aptitudes rather than following prescriptive routines .

6. Simple Practices for Wellbeing

Breathwork, mindful breathing, and singing can be simple, powerful tools to regulate stress and nervous system health.

Regular exposure to natural light, variety in nutrient-rich foods (especially vegetables), restorative sleep (including naps), and minimizing processed foods can significantly improve mood and resilience.

7. Embracing All Aspects of Self as Strengths

Life’s “messiness”—quirks, passions, and even hardships—often contain the greatest gifts, especially when society’s programming is questioned and personal authenticity is allowed.

8. Permission and the Role of Ego

Change is difficult when the ego is dominant; the willingness to seek outside insight, ask for help, and grant permission to receive feedback is crucial for growth.

9. The Evolving Role of Tech and AI

New technologies and AI have the potential to deliver more personalised healthcare efficiently and inclusively, but the approach must honour the diversity of human biology, especially for groups historically underrepresented in research (such as women).

10. The True Purpose of Life

Ultimately, the goal is not just happiness, but “bliss”—a state of peaceful, balanced well-being and gratitude—rather than mere achievement or wealth.

Practicing daily gratitude and doing small good deeds can anchor a sense of fulfillment.

Join us for an inspiring and practical conversation about human potential, personalised wellbeing, leadership, purpose and creating a healthier, more fulfilling future for everyone.

More about Gaia Ferreira:

Gaia Ferreira is on a mission to reprogramme the human operating system from the suffering we are used to, to the bliss we deserve so they can thrive in business and life.

As the creator of the Gene2Genius method, she has spent the last decade working with founders and entrepreneurs standing at a crossroads — those who have achieved great accomplishments yet still feel hollow inside.

Gene2Genius offers a way to map the uniqueness of each individual by decoding their genetic blueprint, life story and identity to sup-port the whole human being to unlock growth in both business and life.

With over 25,000 hours spent transforming burnout into bliss, she is now expanding what was once an exclusive coaching experience into a model accessible to anyone who needs it.

Investing for Life, Not Just Wealth with Jimmy Lebenthal

What if the principles that make us better investors could also help us become better leaders, better decision-makers and live more fulfilling lives?

In this episode of the Business Elevation Show, Chris was joined by Jimmy Lebenthal, Chief Equity Strategist at Cerity Partners, regular CNBC contributor and author of How to Ride the Subway.

A former United States Navy submarine officer turned investment strategist, Jimmy has spent more than twenty-five years helping individuals and families navigate the financial markets with confidence, patience and perspective.

Drawing on his lifelong fascination with New York City’s subway system, Jimmy uses its stations, journeys and unexpected encounters as powerful metaphors for investing, leadership and life itself.

Together, Chris and Jimmy explored why long-term thinking almost always outperforms short-term reactions, how patience and curiosity create better outcomes, and why accepting unexpected invitations can sometimes change the course of our lives.

The conversation also explored the importance of purpose, relationships, family, financial wellbeing and using wealth as a means to create a positive impact rather than simply accumulate more.

At a time when markets, politics and technology are creating uncertainty, Jimmy shared practical wisdom for making better decisions, staying focused on what matters most and building lasting success.

Here are some insights from the interview you don’t want to miss:

1. The Subway = Life & Markets

Jimmy built his book’s philosophy around his childhood love of the New York subway. Every journey, connection, and unexpected detour holds a lesson about navigating financial markets and relationships. Embrace the ride, learn from every “station,” and don’t fear getting a little lost.

2. Time IN the Market Beats Timing the Market

Forget the day-trading hype. Jimmy delivered a reality check: success comes from staying invested in quality companies over DECADES—not trying to guess the next jump. Even if you bought at the peak before the ’08 crash and held on, your annualised return would be nearly 10%. Missing just 20 of the best days in 30 years? You’d lose HALF your gains.

3. It’s All About People

Whether on a submarine or Wall Street, Jimmy learned that mastering relationships is everything. The best stock picks or business strategies mean little if you can’t build trust, collaborate, and admit your mistakes. “People are everything.”

4. Learn from Experience (and Mistakes)

Wisdom = Experience + Errors. Jimmy shared stories of being humbled by mentors and missed calls. That humility is gold—especially for young professionals and investors. Seek feedback, admit when you’re wrong, and GROW.

5. Build Your Foundation, THEN Dream

Great portfolios rest on financially strong, well-managed companies with enduring business models—think Apple or Google. Want to make moonshot bets on quantum stocks or crypto? Fine…but only with surplus capital, after you’ve secured your base.

6. Bonds = Psychological Armour

Why invest in “boring” bonds if stocks return so much more? Sometimes it’s less about returns, more about keeping your cool. Bonds stabilise your emotions during market chaos, letting you stay invested for the long term.

7. Stay Curious & Be Open to Serendipity

Opportunities—from TV guest spots to Wharton admissions—came through unexpected connections for Jimmy. His advice? Accept every invitation. Stay open, keep learning, and leverage the magic of meeting people.

8. Read Both Sides, Always

In a world of influencers and clickbait finance “gurus”, Jimmy insists: voraciously read—especially opinions opposite yours. The real answers aren’t on TikTok; they’re in analysing facts from all perspectives and developing your OWN view.

9. Success = Money AND Meaning

Investing for life isn’t just about wealth—it’s about building a legacy of relationships, resilience, and purpose.

Join us for an engaging conversation about investing, leadership, and the timeless principles that help us navigate both financial markets and life with greater confidence, perspective and purpose.
