The topic is emergency transporting. The City is expected to consider a resolution during Tuesday night's City Council meeting to resume emergency transporting by the Taylor Fire Department.

Due to budget constraints, the TFD has not transported medical emergency patients for nearly six years, instead working in a partnership with first HealthLink and now Beaumont.

DriveTime sells, leases and finances care to customers with credit issues. The company was formerly known as Ugly Duckling, before being renamed DriveTime in 2002.

The 2017 cleanup, the fourth annual, is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22.

The cleanup day attracts more than 200 volunteers each year to Heritage Park. Everyone patrols the facility and collects debris. During the initial outing in 2014, nearly 270 volunteers collected entire trash out of the park to fill many, many full truckloads.

Since the event started, the park has improved in leaps and bounds.

DTE Energy is currently replacing old mercury vapor streetlights in various parts of the City with new LED lights. The new version should give better coverage and improve costs.

The job fairs are scheduled for February 23 at the Taylor Sportsplex, and February 25 at the Lakes of Taylor Golf Course. The City has about 75 seasonal positions available.

Mayor Rick Sollars has organized a charter advisory group that will meet periodically and discuss possible improvements to the document, which was created in 1968. Eventually, the group's suggestions will be vetted by the administration and City Council.

Should any amendments/revisions to the charter be supported by a majority of the council, they would then be put on the ballot. For any changes to take place in the charter, they would have to be passed by a majority of Taylor voters.

Bubba's 33 is a family sports restaurant serving stone-baked pizza, burgers and beer. It's founder, Kent "Bubba" Taylor, is also the CEO of the Texas Roadhouse chain. The average Bubba's 33 location is approximately 7,800 square feet and holds 321 guests.

The City now has a $5.4M unassigned fund balance (rainy day fun) v. just several years ago, when Taylor had a $5M shortfall and was under a State of Michigan-mandated deficit elimination program.

Look for the dedicated parking spots to appear in City-owned lots across the community in the upcoming weeks.

The bond, which will appear on the November 8 General Election ballot, calls for a 0.96-mill levy for five years. The 0.96-mill levy would essentially be financially neutral to taxpayers, who were paying the exact same rate for a 20-year bond that previously targeted improvements across the City's southwest end. That 20-year bond fell off the tax rolls last year.

The upcoming Santa's Magic Forest is the organization's major fundraiser, and will open on Thanksgiving Weekend at the Activities Building in Heritage Park.

Fish & Loaves is a 501(c) 3 organization that ensures that no one goes hungry. Staffed by volunteers and located on Northline Road, it provides food for needy participants in seven communities.
