]]>Organised by Marketing West, the BCP Awards celebrate the ‘Winners of the Winners’ from the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Business Awards. The judges review the winners in each category from across the three town awards and determine the overall winners for BCP. The shortlisted organisations have now been announced and invited to attend the BCP Awards ceremony at Bournemouth University in July, where the winners will be crowned.
Paul & Louise O’Connell, founders of Bridge Health & Wellbeing, said, “We are extremely proud to have been shortlisted for the BCP Business Awards, after winning Gold in the Health, Beauty & Wellbeing category of the Christchurch Business Awards 2025.
Since the Christchurch awards first began, we have been incredibly lucky to win New Business of the Year in 2022, Outstanding Business of the Year in 2023, My Favourite Business Gold and Silver Family Business of the Year in 2024 and the East Dorset Gold Awards in 2024. Every award event we have attended has been so inspiring and provided a fantastic celebration of local businesses.
Thanks must go to our brilliant team and everyone who has nominated and supported us. Since we opened our doors in 2019, the whole community has been so supportive. We love working with our clients and other businesses in and around Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. Despite the current economic challenges, there are many thriving businesses that deserve to be celebrated for their hard work and dedication to our local community.”

]]>Home-Start Wessex offers friendship, practical support and emotional advice to parents in Dorset with at least one child under 5 when they are in crisis, providing specialist groups and one-to-one home visits.
Across 24 hours, the fantastic Holt Recruitment team punched through 4,000 rounds on the bags – fuelled by grit, community spirit, and a great cause. The event marked Holt Recruitment’s latest annual fundraising challenge, continuing a proud tradition of giving back through bold and demanding initiatives. Last year, they climbed the height of Everest via Bournemouth’s iconic zig-zags, raising over £7,000 for Home-Start Wessex.

This year’s effort topped all previous fundraising records. With over £5,000 raised through donations alone, Holt Recruitment’s Managing Director, Stuart Holt, personally matched every pound, taking the final total to just over £10,500 – the largest single donation Home-Start Wessex has ever received.
The money raised will help Home-Start Wessex continue its life-changing work, particularly when demand for its services is rising due to the ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
Last year, the funds raised by Holt Recruitment provided six months of personalised support to eight Dorset families. This year’s record-breaking total will enable the charity to help even more families facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
“This challenge was tough, but nothing compared to what many of the families Home-Start Wessex supports face every day,” said Stuart Holt. “We are incredibly proud of our team, humbled by the generosity of our supporters, and grateful to everyone who helped us smash our goal. Friends, family, and members of the wider community popped in throughout the day – some to cheer us on, others to throw a few rounds themselves – reminding us that this challenge was never just about boxing. It was about coming together for a cause that matters.”
Caroline Pope, Corporate Partnerships & Marketing Manager at Home-Start Wessex, added, “We have been working with Holt for about three years, and their support has been amazing. All the staff get involved. They’ve done some crazy things over the years for charity, and their fundraising efforts have made a huge difference. This year’s challenge was hard work, but the whole team looked like they were enjoying it, and there was a great sense of team spirit.”
The Holt Recruitment Group is an ever-expanding group of recruitment specialists who have secured an impressive base of Automotive, Engineering and Professional Services clients within the Automotive, Aerospace, Defence and Precision Engineering sectors across the UK.
Over the last year, Home-Start Wessex has transformed 1,682 lives, helping a record 501 families. Their reach covers the Purbecks, Swanage, Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport, the whole of the BCP Council area, including Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, across the borders of Hampshire and Wiltshire, going as far north as Cranborne and Fordingbridge and as far east as New Milton – a huge area with a population of over 650,000, including many pockets of high-level deprivation.
The charity is actively recruiting kind, compassionate volunteers to offer emotional and practical support to parents with young children. If you could spare a few hours a week to help local families through challenging times and make a difference in your community, please contact Belinda@homestartwessex.org.uk. No experience is needed – just a big heart and a listening ear, as full training and ongoing support are provided.

]]>From their dedicated warehouse and distribution site in Christchurch, Dorset, Polyhose supplies customers all over the UK with world-class Thermoplastic, PTFE, Rubber Hydraulic, Industrial, Composite, Stainless Steel, Flexible hoses and Fluid Connectors.
With ambitious growth plans for 2025 and beyond, Polyhose needed to create additional warehousing space to accommodate a broader range of products and increase the depth of its UK stock holding.
After looking at various build options, they chose to work with local Dorset manufacturer Mar-Key Group, whose temporary structures offered the fast, flexible and cost-effective solution they required.
Marc Whibley, Managing Director at Polyhose UK, said, “Once the groundworks were complete, Mar-Key Group finished the structure in just a few weeks. Seeing our vision for the new building come to life so quickly was incredible. The additional warehousing will make a real difference to our business.”
Charlie Watson, Business Development Manager at Mar-Key Group, added, “Working on this build with Polyhose has been fantastic. The installation is around the corner from our manufacturing facility, and it was great to watch our team turn their empty land into usable space.”
Visiting the site, Dorset Chamber Chief Executive Ian Girling commented, “Dorset has a vibrant and exciting business community. It is a pleasure to visit projects like this and see Chamber members working together to deliver economic growth.”
Chris Butcher, Managing Director at the BFPA, added, “It was a pleasure to be invited to the official opening of the new Polyhose warehouse and to meet their hardworking team. The new building is fantastic and is an excellent example of the investment our members are making in the £1.5+ billion UK fluid power industry.”
Chris also presented Polyhose with a certificate congratulating them on 40 years in business. The company was initially incorporated in 1985.
With customers in Dorset and across the UK, Polyhose products are used in all kinds of fluid transfer applications, including hydraulic systems in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, automotive, marine, rescue equipment and industrial applications such as water jetting, sewer cleaning, high pressure blasting and painting and fire suppression systems, as well as LPG and high-pressure industrial gas transfer. Their culture of excellence means highly engineered fluid conveyance products that industries can trust to perform every time.
Polyhose UK has been consistently accredited to ISO9001:2015 for sales and distribution, assembly and testing of thermoplastic, PTFE and rubber hoses and associated fittings and components for over 27 years. It has been a member of the Dorset Chamber for more than 30 years and is a member of the BFPA, the UK’s only trade body for the Hydraulic and Pneumatic Industries.
