At today’s E3 Press conference, EA SVP, Samantha Ryan started off her segment on mobile gaming by stating that “Mobile is single biggest gaming platform in the world and that EA’s mobile apps were downloaded 715 Million times last year”.
And furthermore, she revealed that players have already logged more than 400,000 years of gameplay this year alone! (WOW!)
One of their mobile announcements was that later this year, EA will be bringing us a brand new digital CCG role-playing game called Star Wars : Galaxy of Heroes.
We believe THIS is the Star Wars Game mobile players have been waiting for, loaded with characters you know and love from the prequels and classic trilogies to the Clone Wars and more, it’s a massive game that spans the entire Star Wars Universe.
You can collect, battle and dominate with your favorite Star Wars characters and ships.

Electronic Arts and PopCap Games have just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel to their monster hit Plants vs. Zombies.
The trailer for Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time features a number of gaming industry celebrities like Xbox’s Major Nelson (Larry Hyrb) and angry youTuber Francis (Boogie2988) asking why there still hasn’t been a sequel released yet. No actual details about the game are revealed other than a release date of July 2013, but it is unclear if this is for ALL platforms or just console and PC/MAC.
Additionally EA announced that the iPhone version of the original Plants vs. Zombies is one of six of their games currently featured on the US All-Time Top-25 Paid iPhone Apps list along with other titles such as SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY, The Sims 3, THE GAME OF LIFE Classic Edition and Cut the Rope also making the list
I suspect that some day the iOS release of Plants vs. Zombies 2 will also be topping the charts and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more about its release, but in the meantime enjoy the trailer.

]]>Over half of our featured Thursday new releases are free-to-play titles from CAPCOM, G5 Entertainment, Big Pixel Studios, Everplay Interactive and even Chillingo.
Big Pixel Studios’ Off The Leash is a one-handed tilt controlled game where you are a dog trying to out-run the cops and evade capture, while at the same time attempting to rescue as many of your ‘doggy pals’ as you can. The game features Big Pixel’s signature blocky-bit graphical style and is sure to please the casual crowd. Next up is Chillingo’s space-themed tower defense game, Spice Invaders. You control an invading pirate force, and must ‘protect them as they mine the Earth’s resources for the precious mineral, Spice’. Meant to be played online, this multiplayer game features some nice visuals, challenging and a massive amount of upgrades, this title will keep you busy for a while.
G5 Entertainment is back with a new hidden object adventure title called Royal Trouble: Hidden Adventures. >GHOST TRICK: Phantom Detective is CAPCOM’s stylized looking interactive mystery adventure game based on the critically acclaimed Nintendo DS game. You can check out the first two chapters for free, the rest are available as IAPs. Speaking of mysteries, this last ‘free’ title is a bit of an enigma. From the screenshots and description, Everplay Interactive’s Terra Noctis: Free Dreaming looks identical to the platformer game Terra Noctis that was put out by Bulkypix last December. It is unclear if this is a lite version of that game or what, but it is free.
Now onto the pay for apps…the first of which is Fly With Me, a level-based arcade platformer (of sorts) from EA. Guide birds through trees with a constant tap of the finger to keep those wings flapping. The goal being to “cruise through tree holes and dodge moving obstacles, like spiders, Venus fly traps, geysers, and more and chomp evil bees from small to large for a bug feast”. FreakZone’s platformer AWESOME Land looks very Super Mario-esque. However, instead of a plumber, the game’s hero is Manley, an approriately gruff looking man who’s motorcycle has been stolen by evil aliens and it’s up to you to help him ‘kick some alien hide and claim it back’.
Electric Pixel Factory’s debut game Gorilla Gondola features the unlikely pairing of a silverback and a ski gondola. Navigate the ski-lift-riding Gorilla through dangerous levels, jumping, stomping and tilting to avoid all manner of obstacles while collecting bananas and powerups. This once looks like it could be pretty fun and challenging.

]]>Let me start off by saying that I am a big fan of the Tiger Woods games. I currently own Tiger Woods ‘09 for the PS3 and Tiger Woods 10 for the Wii. So I am very familiar with the game’s layout and control mechanics. I saw this game on sale and figured why not get a mobile version as well.
Control/Gameplay [5/5]
EA has done a fantastic job with the controls for this game!!! You swipe your finger down (then up) the power meter to take your swing, arching your finger to the left/right at the top of the power meter to add draw/fade to the ball. While the ball is in the air you can continue to swipe it (in whatever direction) you want to add spin. This basic/intuitive control system makes it feel much like its console cousins.
Many of the other features you are used to from previous incarnations of this game of consoles/PC are there as well, like tournament play, purchasing power-ups, put preview, etc.. There is a local multiplayer mode which I have not tried, unfortunately there is no online-multiplayer…which would have been EPIC!!!
Once you get the controls down, the game actually becomes fairly easy. For instance, I am playing a 4-day tournament in St. Andrews, and I am 20 under par after just 2 days. I suppose that the difficulty could be increased by not utilizing the “putt preview” feature and not buying performance upgrades for your golfer, but this was just a minor gripe. Hey, sometimes when your real golf game is so bad, its nice to be able to routinely hit 360+ yard drives and birdie at least half the holes.
Graphics [4.5/5]
While there are some rough edges, overall the graphics are smooth, nicely rendered 3D graphics and look fairly realistic. I’d almost go as far as to say that they are either on par/or even better looking than the Wii version of the game.
Sound [4.5/5]
The sound effects (though the woods sounded kind of like irons and vice-versa) and ambient noise and crowd sounds are great. It also has running commentary by Sam Torrance and Kelly Tighman. This commentary can get repetitive and is sometimes incorrect, but its a nice addition none the less, adding to the mood of tournament golf.
Replayability [5/5]
Despite it not being as difficult as I’d hoped, this game is so much fun, you will keep coming back for more. With 7 pros (including Tiger), over 120 holes, 7 courses including Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, TPC
Sawgrass, Doral, TPC Boston, The K Club and Fancourt, there is a LOT of golf to be played.
This game will be staying on the first page of my iPod touch for quite some time to come.
Final Verdict [4.5/5]
This game is well worth its full price of $9.99, so at its current sale price of 30% off, I’d definitely pick this one up ASAP.
