After a hiatus, this year will include the return of the Canada Day Parade, taking place at 10am from PharmaChoice to the Chase Curling Rink. Organizers are encouraging local businesses, non-profits, community groups, performers, families, and individuals to take part and help bring the tradition back to life. Entry forms can be picked up and returned to the Chase Visitor Centre (400 Shuswap Ave) or accessed online at bit.ly/ChaseParade

“Parades are one of those moments where the whole community comes together,” organizers shared. “Whether you have a decorated float, classic vehicle, walking group, performers, or simply a creative idea, we’d love to see people participate and help make this year’s return something special.”

Following the parade, ceremonies will take place at 11am at the Legion (515 Shuswap Ave). This year’s gathering will also recognize the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100 year anniversary and its longstanding role in communities across the country. Hot dogs and burgers will be served following the ceremonies.

From 3pm to 5pm, Tsqúqw7e (Memorial Park) will host an afternoon of children’s activities and games, including Bubble Soccer, a special addition inspired by the excitement surrounding the upcoming FIFA World Cup matches taking place in Canada. Participants will be able to sign up for Bubble Soccer at the park on the day of the event, with games organized by age group beginning at ages 7 and up. Detailed game times will be posted closer to the event date on ChaseFestival.ca

The celebration continues into the evening with the launch of Maple Sunset, a new lakeside event running from 4pm to 10pm also at Memorial Park. Featuring local DJs, glowing lights, vendors, a beverage garden, lawn games, and complimentary cupcakes, Maple Sunset offers a vibrant community atmosphere that blends music, movement, and summer energy by the lake.

Confirmed DJs currently include SpinTrix, Dani Lee, Sinfonik, Te-Toe, Young Crowhop, and SpunLogic, all of whom will also be performing at the upcoming Electric Love Festival in early August. Organizers say the evening is intended to showcase and celebrate regional DJ talent while creating an accessible and welcoming event for all ages. “It’s something a little different for Chase, while still staying grounded in community,” says Brock Endean, Chair of the Festival Society.

Presented once again with the support of the Village of Chase as the overall primary sponsor, the free weekly concert series will feature eight evenings of live music showcasing a mix of rock, country, blues, pop, and roots music from across the region and beyond.

Organizers say the continued commitment from the Village of Chase remains the foundation of the series, helping ensure Music on the Lake stays free, accessible, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike each summer.

All shows begin at 7 pm, and audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for an evening of music by the water.

Returning favourites include Dixie Fried Hep Katz, Tanner Dawson, Paisley Groove, and Shattered Blue.

Opening night on July 7 will once again feature the annual Show & Shine, with the park filling with classic and custom vehicles ahead of the evening concert. Organizers say the high-energy rockabilly sound of Dixie Fried Hep Katz makes them the perfect fit to kick off the season.

Joining the lineup for the first time are several new performers, including jugband ragtime blues duo The Vaudevillian, who recently opened several shows for Modest Mouse during a western Canadian tour. The Vaudevillian are also the only out-of-province act performing this summer, with the remainder of the lineup featuring artists from the local and regional area.

Also making their Music on the Lake debut this year are pop artist Kiana Layne, local musician Mike Gouchie, and The Angie Heinze Band. 

“Music on the Lake has become one of those traditions that people genuinely build their summers around,” said Brock Endean, Chair of the Chase Festival Society. “It’s a place where neighbours reconnect, kids dance in the grass, and everyone can simply enjoy a beautiful evening together.”

Endean says maintaining free access to arts and culture programming remains a priority for the society.

Community support continues to play a major role in the series, with returning sponsors once again stepping forward alongside new supporters. Individual concerts are sponsored by the Chase Rotary Club, Safety Mart Foods, Sunshore Golf Course, Mayor David Lepsoe, Donna Smith-Bradley PREC, A&W Chase, the Bepple Family in memory of Jim Bepple, and the Chase Lions Club.

Organizers are also excited to welcome back Brad Clements of FreqHandy Audio Production Services to manage sound production for the season after what they describe as an outstanding experience last year.

“We were thrilled with Brad’s dedication and professionalism throughout the entire season,” said Endean. “Great sound makes such a difference for both audiences and performers, and we’re very happy to have him back.”

Attendance at the weekly concerts regularly draws between 300 and 500 people throughout the summer season, with many visitors making an evening of it by enjoying the beach, local businesses, vendors, and community booths.

Vendor and community booth applications are currently open. Businesses, artisans, non-profits, and community groups interested in participating can contact the Chase Chamber & Visitor Centre for registration information. Vendor spaces are fee-based, while community booth spaces remain free for local organizations.

We’re looking for artists and groups of all genres and sizes to bring their sound to our lakeside community. From high-energy bands to soulful solo acts, we want to hear from you!

Important:
A sample of your music is required for your application to be considered.

Applications without a music sample will not be reviewed.

Let’s make 2026 another year of incredible live music in Chase!

The frightful festivities kick off with the Monster March Parade on Friday, October 24, and organizers are calling on all creatures great and small to take part. Whether you’re a family in costume, a dance group, a local business, a sports team, or a creative ghoul with a decked-out golf cart, everyone is welcome to strut their spooky stuff.

Parade participants are asked to register in advance at bit.ly/ChaseHalloweek, then gather in costume at PharmaChoice (Shuswap Ave & Coburn St.) at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. and will wind its way through downtown Chase, ending at Willson Park, where the Fright Night Fun Fair will keep the magic alive with games, music, and treats.

But that’s just the beginning! Several spook-tacular activities are already underway leading up to the big week:

Colouring Contest — Pick up your sheet featuring original artwork by local youth artist Dez Loring at Pete’s Pizza, and drop it back off completed by 7 p.m. on October 29 for a chance to win prizes.

Costume Swap — Hosted by the Haldane PAC in partnership with the Chase Library, this month-long swap is the perfect way to give old costumes new life and find something frightfully fun for this year’s festivities.

The Chase Creepy Crawl — Help map out the best-decorated homes and businesses in town! Submit your address by October 21 at ChaseFestival.ca to be included in the official list of local haunts to explore.

Homemade Horror Film Fest — Calling all filmmakers, content creators, and spooky storytellers! Submit your original short film (2–10 minutes, family-friendly/up to PG-13) by October 22 for a chance to be featured in the outdoor Homemade Horror Film Screening on October 27. Films will be projected and played on a continuous loop under the stars, the perfect way to show off your creativity and give the crowd a little scare! Show Off Your Haunt – Do you have the spookiest house on the block? The funniest? The most creative? We want to see it! We’re creating a community map of decorated homes and businesses so everyone can tour the town and enjoy all the Halloween magic. If you’re decorating this year, register your address by October 28 to be included in the October 31 edition of the Chase Sunflower and on our website.

Donations Wanted — Have Halloween decorations, lights, or props you’re ready to part with? Drop them off at the Chase Visitor Centre (400 Shuswap Ave) to help build our community collection for this and future Halloweeks. We’re also collecting used or damaged stuffed animals for the upcoming Frankenteddies workshop, the perfect way to bring torn teddies back to life!

The full Halloweek schedule of events, including parades, paddles, parties, pancakes, and more, will be printed in a special centrefold edition of the Chase Sunflower on October 24, and is available now at ChaseFestival.ca/halloweek.

“We’ve been thrilled by how the community has embraced the idea,” said the Halloweek Planning Committee. “From kids and families to local groups and businesses, everyone’s jumping in to make Chase the place to be this Halloween.”

So dust off your broomsticks, polish your fangs, and get ready, Halloweek is coming to Chase, and it’s going to be a howling good time!

Headlining the evening is Dawson Gray, a breakout Canadian country artist from Kelowna, BC. With over 5 million streams, 42 sold-out shows across Western Canada, and performances alongside ERNEST, Mackenzie Porter, and James Barker Band, Dawson is quickly becoming a household name. Known for his authentic songwriting and powerhouse stage presence, Dawson delivers a live show packed with heart, hooks, and undeniable charisma.

Art on Display: Submit 4–6 pieces to be displayed at a local business/venue from Aug 12-19. Spaces are limited, participating artists will be selected based on available locations and a mix of styles.

Booth at the Cornival: Join us on Saturday, August 16 at Willson Park for the CornStock Community Cornival! All artists are welcome to set up a booth, no jury, no fee, just a fun day of sharing & selling your work.
