Comment on Oh Sister: Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, exchanging thoughts through song. by LS https://bob-dylan.org.uk/archives/2454/comment-page-1#comment-601059 Mon, 14 Sep 2026 13:08:54 +0000 http://bob-dylan.org.uk/?p=2454#comment-601059 This sequence of songs leaves out one important Dylan to Baez song (at least partially to Baez), which is Idiot wind and possibly abandoned love. In that song Dylan mentions “you hurt the ones that I loved best and covered up the truth with lies”. This prompts Baez to say “you are surrounded by parasites and sycophants”.

I would love to see that theory written out fully Thomas. If you would like to do that I would be happy to publish it.
Tony Email the text to Tony@schools.co.uk – and please include a link to this page in your note so I am reminded of what I promised!

Comment on Highway 61 Revisited (the song, not the album) by Thomas T. https://bob-dylan.org.uk/archives/290/comment-page-1#comment-601014 Sat, 12 Sep 2026 17:08:27 +0000 http://bob-dylan.org.uk/?p=290#comment-601014 I have a much different view of highway 61. I think it symbolizes Biblical places like Sodom and Gomorrah. All the characters in the song are parables like Jesus used to describe how wicked the world had become.

It gave me a new appreciation for the song.

Comment on “I don’t know who I am most of the time. It doesn’t even matter to me”. by Peter Robert Higginson https://bob-dylan.org.uk/archives/34268/comment-page-1#comment-600883 Wed, 09 Sep 2026 05:43:06 +0000 https://bob-dylan.org.uk/?p=34268#comment-600883 Bob’s Dissociation Tony is between Robert Allen Zimmerman, the man of the love of money and the Music Firm and ‘Bob Dylan’, a costume for the stage and a popular identity.

Zimmerman is dark and selfish and greedy. Bob is an angel.

The Dissociation is in transiting between the music business and political and mystical truth. Signing a Contract with CBS is a sell-out of the local Communities of Hibbing and New York 1961, and the Deals done are materialist and sinister, leading to Fame but a Shadow which increasingly falls from 1979 onwards. This is the Business Shadow, the dark hateful psychopathic Moneyman behind the Poetry.

The love of Money is the root of all evil.

Thank you for your kind words – I’m getting older and slowing down, but hope to keep going for a bit longer!
