Ha! I’m not sure if Andrew used that image intentionally, but you certainly did some amazing work on the film. I can remember being blown away back when I first saw it at the cinema. I must revisit it, as it’s been a while.

Thanks for visiting the site.

Comment on The Fifth Element (4K Remaster) by Sean Cunningham https://blueprintreview.co.uk/2020/09/the-fifth-element-4k-remaster/#comment-262237 Sat, 17 Oct 2026 16:30:08 +0000 http://blueprintreview.co.uk/?p=34850#comment-262237 I had to giggle. Your comment about how this transfer shows how well models hold up versus CGI. That image you picked out for your blog, I’m assuming, to illustrate this is a full CGI police car, not one of the miniature police cars. In fact, it’s the only shot in the entire movie with a digital car featured in a “hero” situation as the foreground subject. I know this because I animated it, supervised the team that did all of the digital traffic and designed the entire pipeline for how it worked.

I’ll take it as a compliment 😉

Comment on When Did Timothy Dalton Stop Being the Underrated James Bond? by Dave https://blueprintreview.co.uk/2026/10/when-did-timothy-dalton-stop-being-the-underrated-james-bond/#comment-262230 Thu, 08 Oct 2026 16:42:30 +0000 https://blueprintreview.co.uk/?p=62015#comment-262230 The talk of Bond actors being closest to Fleming’s creation or not is not really relevant, it’s whether they can realistically exist in their own world. Connery’s Bond evolved naturally from lean serious tough guy to louche and lazy tough guy in the space of six films; Moore fudged his way through the superlative Live and Let Die, the dull Golden Gun and then peaked with TPWLM and Moonraker but always as a quipping celebrity spy. Brosnan evoked smarmy smoothness but never much more than that in his tenure (unless his ‘pain face’ is a character beat). Craig just did misery and petulance consistently. The thing they all have in common is that they all realistically exist in the world of each films. Lazenby too is plausible in hiw own universe. Dalton though was arguably not given this room to breathe; inheriting a Moore script for his first film and a troubled production for his second. He was possibly two different Bonds in each film. In this sense he will always be underrated Bond because he merited a third to show some consistency. Was he closest to Fleming’s Bond? The answer is no; Fleming would never have had his Bond flapping his arms up and down like a giant pigeon while being lowered by a helicopter.

Apologies, it looks like the publicity material we were sent didn’t list that track, so Andrew must have forgotten to add it when using press release to put his review together. I’ll add it to the list now.

Thanks for the review. My commentary with FJ DeSantos of A BETTER TOMORROW 3 was also there but it doesn’t seem to be mentioned in your review.

Well worth the investment

I’ve just posted a review of Rose of Nevada, a brand new film but one which was filmed on scrappy 16mm. It’s remarkably effective, especially as a time-travel movie because the aesthetic could already be from almost any period. Also, director Mark Jenkin’s meticulous editing made me question if he might try his hand at a horror film.

Rose of Nevada is already tense. Add in some old-school gore and he could make something profoundly terrifying in 16mm.

There is absolutely something magical in that cigarette burn and the crackle of a glitched audio.

It feels very similar to how those tapes did…

Towne apparently wanted Pat Riley, the coach of the LA Lakers to play the detective but he couldn’t talk him into it.

The first shot we see of Kurt Russell, the way he stood and smoothed his hands back across his slicked back hair was a clear nod to the enormously famous Reilly. Any viewer who knew Reilly was considered for the role would have recognized the very characteristic gesture.
