So, the beard had gotten a little wild and longer so decided to have another trim. Went to my favourite barber James C at Murdock London (Covent Garden branch). Here are the pictures:

I went back too ELP Barbershop in Covent Garden to have a trim – they did an awesome job again. Trimmed the beard back a little – I’m liking the new shape and also left the moustache alone – that is coming along nicely. I even had a hair cut – nothing fancy just a 1 on the sides and a 4 on top, ready for summer now (which has gone missing in London this year so far).

Bearded Beefeater at Tower of London

I had the opportunity to go to the Tower of London last night for a vendor gathering and take a walk around the Tower of London on a private tour which was awesome. On the way out I bumped into the Bearded Beefeater (if anyone knows his name please send it on). He has a great beard and moustache and wears it well. Earl Buck of London wooden beard comb

Late last night my newest beard accessory arrived – the Earl Buck of London wooden beard comb. It comes in a nice (cardboard) red presentation case with the comb nestling inside. The comb is made from natural wood and each of the teeth are cut separately which cuts back on static and also beard damage (always remember to use a hand cut comb on your beard as the cheaper version which are machine cut as the teeth are not even or clean / crisp on the machined versions). It feels nice in the hand and glides through my beard without any issue. I will be using it regularly along with my Kent combs and my Kent beard brush (still my favourite by far).

Tiger Tiger Moustache Wax

Now that I have tried the Lip Rug Moustache Wax tube I decided to try another player in this market – Lucky Tiger Moustache Wax Neutral (although it is spelt Mustache Wax on the tube). This tube of wax is larger than that produced by Lip Rug and it is also softer to the touch. Being large it is a slight challenge to correctly apply the wax to the upper lip without getting any in your nose or all over your lip. Although it feels very light it has a strong wax feel after you have used your moustache comb to carefully style your moustache. As it is also so large (the tube that is) it does not fit easily into a waistcoat pocket like the Lip Rug tube does. I will continue to test it (mainly when I have a meeting or something as it is a great styling wax.

Kingsmen Premium Beard wash Update

So, last week I wrote about the purchase and use of a new beard wash Kingsmen Premium Beard wash and today I can give an update. I have decided to go back to my old faithful beard shampoo from Beardsley – the new one has resulted (after 5 days) in a build-up of dry skin on my chin and jaw line. The old beard shampoo did not result in this and I have therefore decided to go back.

The Kingsmen Premium Beard wash smells nice and makes the beard nice and soft but does not work with my skin or beard.

I also bought a new beard wash this week. I went for Kingsmen Premium Beard Wash which comes in a 200ml pump bottle. It is a very nice smelling beard wash and also seems to have made my beard feel a little bit more softer – I have been using Beardsley beard shampoo for the last few years which is also great. I will report back on whether I stick with the new beard wash or return to my old faithful.

Lip rug Moustache Wax

I bought some moustache wax during the week and got it yesterday. It is great stuff.

Lip Rug moustache wax

It comes in a tube (exactly the same as lip balm) and is applied directly to the moustache without the need to warm it up or put in on your fingers. I have tried it yesterday and today and I love it. The ease of use is naturally great (I have put it into a pocket in my waistcoat – so easy to reach) and the actually wax has a nice hold (not too firm or soft) which I like. For those who would like to tame a moustache BUT not have it seem to waxy or oily then this is a great choice.

I have also order some Lucky Tiger Moustache Wax and will write up on this when it arrives.

The beard after a trim

So, I went too try the new barbers @elpbarbershop as I’m looking for a replacement to the guys at Murdocks in Covent Garden. Well I can safely say the experience was awesome and the cut came out exactly as I wanted. I will most definitely being going back to use them, they also DID NOT cut of the moustache that is currently being grown.

Beard reshape and a new barbershop

I have been going to Murdocks of London for a few years now to get my beard trimmed and shaped. Unfortunately the last few sessions have not been as satisfactory as I would have liked (my original barber Ryan has left for Glasgow) and the guys cannot get his cutting style the same as what I want (they are good but it is not working for me). So I have decided to try a barbershop in Covent Garden known as @ELPBarbershop and they will try and tame the beast that is my beard. I do enjoy the bushy style that I have now got but need to tidy it up a little for work.
