An all-new look at Spyro: A Realm Beyond was included in this year’s Community Day celebration, complete with one hot cake.

Spyro flames on

The formerly dormant Spyro series is getting set to torch consoles and the PC some time in 2027. Before we get to that launch though, there’s plenty yet to be revealed about Spyro: A Realm Beyond. We’re not just talking about mechanics and worlds either, as the story hasn’t been discussed yet either.

What we do know about the game though, is that Spyro‘s vacation is officially over, and he’ll be taking flight in a whole new way once he’s back. And by that, we mean that developer Toys for Bob will be bringing what looks to be unlimited dragon flight to the series.

As mentioned though, there’s much more to be revealed. And that incudes the worlds that Spyro will be traversing. To that end, we just got a better look at one of them, via the 2026 edition of Spyro‘s Community Day.

The above area is Arcadian Vale, an “early” region that players will be visiting in the game. That’s looking like it’ll stock plenty of green, along with some distant mountains. Critters will be populating the land of course, along with some strange ruins. We’ll note too, that on the former, we’re only seeing what look like friendly fauna. So if you’re waiting to get a look at the baddies, well, keep waiting.

Oh, we’ll also mention that there’s a very welcoming sky hanging above the landscape as well. And yes, we assume that will allow players to feel out the aforementioned flight. From this glimpse though, it’s definitely looking like the Spyro of old, just mightily updated.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword brings the long-awaited return of one of Capcom’s best-loved series’. It’s also a smash hit.

A monster new game

Bringing the brand back to fans in a big way is Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The latest game in the long-running series brings in an all-new hero, and seems to be a big hit with fans. How big? Well, how does selling one million copies in one day sound?

Yep, that’s a big number, but it’s just what publisher Capcom is touting, as it reveals the initial sales figures for the game. According to the company, Onimusha: Way of the Sword moved an excess of a million copies, as it brought the series of mothballs.

After 20 years on hiatus, it sure does look like fans are more than happy to welcome it back. Not that the success is anything new for the line. Capcom adds that the sales history of Onimusha has now exploded, with sales past ten million units.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which marks the first new title in the series in over 20 years, is a swordplay action game featuring protagonist Miyamoto Musashi that is set in Edo-era Kyoto. This title enhances the exhilarating sword-based action of the series with cutting-edge technology while also providing a compelling story and beautiful visual depictions. In addition, through several marketing initiatives prior to launch, such as multiple demo releases and hands-on exhibitions, Capcom worked to expand awareness among a broad range of users, resulting in sales surpassing 1 million units on the day of its release.

Capcom press release

This announcement comes along with a bit of an interesting addendum too. Namely, that Capcom says there are more ‘lost’ IP’s set to return. Now, don’t get too excited, because what those might be is still something of a mystery. All the same though, the company says that it’s “working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content”.

So yeah, that’s a fancy way of saying to look for more games like Onimusha: Way of the Sword. We’d assume that the lot of what’s coming up would probably include more adventures in feudal Japan as well, but we don’t have any confirmation on that.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is out now for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Onimusha returns in style

Why was Onimusha ‘forgotten’ about for so long? That’s a mysterious question, honestly, since Capcom’s action/horror series was a beast in its heyday. The original three releases were legendary in the PS2 era, and garnered a legion of fans.

Despite some re-releases a few years ago though, it seemed like it’d just dried up as the publisher moved on to newer properties. Well, that and lots of Resident Evil, can’t forget that. All of that was before the reveal of Onimusha: Way of the Sword however.

The first new game in the set to be revealed in a long time, Onimusha: Way of the Sword would bring fans an all-new story and hero, set in the world of the original games. Japan’s Edo-era would be the setting, with players guiding Miyamoto Musashi on his journey through a twisted vision of Kyoto.

The bad guys are coming to Gotham City, to cause some Mayhem. Check out Joker and Harley in LEGO BatmanLegacy of the Dark Knight.

Wait til they get a load of Joker

Released earlier this year, LEGO BatmanLegacy of the Dark Knight immediately stirred up a massive amount of positive word. The game brings together a huge collection of the Dark Knight’s film and TV history, amalgamating it into a cohesive LEGO-ized vision of Batman. That includes some of his biggest movie-moments, not to mention his villains.

Actually, let’s mention them, as when the game arrived, there was also a downloadable content announcement. That was for something called the Mayhem Collection, a piece of DLC that’d allow players to actually play as the bad guys. Specifically, Joker and Harley Quinn.

Gamescom has brought a much better look at what that will entail too, including a new story mission for the un-dynamic duo. That’ll follow Joker and Harley as they attempt to initiate a break-out at Arkham.

Time for some Mayhem

As you can see in the trailer, the new story and playable villains might be the main event, but there’s a good deal more to the Mayhem Collection. For one thing, there’s the Mayhem Mode, which is separate from the story mission.

While they kind of bleed into one another in the video above, Mayhem Mode is a totally separate experience, that sees Joker and Harley Quinn take on “Mayhem Runs”. Those send the pair throughout the city, with the goal of making it back to Amusement Mile. It won’t just be a race against time though. Batman and Robin will be in pursuit, and there’ll be A.R.G.U.S. Agents on the hunt.

And we can’t forget “Task Force X” either. Amanda Waller’s squad of controlled villains will be looking to take Joker and Harley down. And we’re not talking about lightweights, as Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, “and other notorious DC Super-Villains” will all be included.

Rounding out the pack, is a host of cosmetics. The DLC will come fully packed with more costumes, a new vehicle, and Batcave Items. The trick is that all of the above will be Joker-themed, included in something called the Sinister Pack.

While the above is all paid DLC, there’s also a free update landing along side it. That’ll introduce a new difficulty level, in “Absolute”. The setting will “be even more challenging than the Caped Crusader and Dark Knight options”, according to publisher Warner Bros Games.

As for release dates, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available now, for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and Epic). Fans can pick up a copy in either Standard or Deluxe Edition forms. As for the DLC and update, fans can look for both of those to drop on September 18th.

The thunder lizards are coming to Stuntman: Hollywood. Players will get to drive through some mighty Jurassic World action.

Stuntman meets dinosaurs

A rebirth for a classic series, Stuntman: Hollywood is in the works from Saber Interactive. If you know the previous releases too, you should be right at home with this new incarnation. Once again, fans will be cast as a motion picture stuntman, performing daring feats for the cameras. That said though, this new version won’t be the same as the legacy editions.

The biggest change, other than the updated look of course, is that Stuntman: Hollywood will feature actual properties. That’s not to say that all of the scenes that players will play their way through are based on real films or TV. But even so, it looks like a decent chunk of them will be.

Featuring the game, will be legendary properties like Fast & FuriousBack to the FutureKnight Rider, and Miami Vice. And yes, players will be able to get behind the wheels of absolutely iconic vehicles too. We’re talking about K.I.T.T., the DeLorean, and more. But hang on, because the reveals aren’t done yet.

This week, fresh from Gamescom, we got a peek at one more inclusion, in the form of Jurassic World. The modern incarnation of the 90s film series, Jurassic World’s section of Stuntman: Hollywood will naturally feature dinosaurs, and lots of them.

Buckle up and get ready to experience movie sets inspired by the iconic Jurassic World films from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. At today’s Xbox Gamescom Broadcast, Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, revealed that Jurassic World will be one of the blockbuster franchises featured in Stuntman: Hollywood, the new evolution of the classic stunt-racing series. This single-player action-racing game puts you in the driver’s seat for thrilling cinematic stunts inspired by fan-favorite Universal Pictures films and NBCUniversal television series like Fast & FuriousBack to the FutureKnight RiderMiami Vice and more! The latest trailer offers a first look at Stuntman: Hollywood‘s Jurassic World adventure, featuring high-speed chases, spectacular stunts, and exciting encounters with iconic dinosaur special effects, set against one of cinema’s most recognizable and awe-inspiring backdrops.

Saber Interactive press release

Stay tuned for more on this one, as Stuntman: Hollywood Doesn’t quite have a release date just yet. the action/driving title is heading to the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC (via Steam), and wish listing is open now.

The twelfth entry in the classic action series, Mega Man: Dual Override has revealed some fresh tidbits at the Gamescom event.

New Robot Masters and fresh gameplay for Mega Man

He’s back and looking darn sharp. Naturally, we’re talking about Mega Man, as Capcom’s blue bomber is rolling back into action for a whole new adventure. Mega Man: Dual Override will mark the twelfth outing for the long-lived hero, and bring what looks to be a host of new elements. If you’ve been waiting to see more, Capcom has you covered. The publisher has dropped a fresh trailer and all-new info for the game onto the European gaming show.

That includes the reveal of new Robot Masters like Twinkle Girl. Joining what’ll be a crew of eight, Twinkle Girl will sport an array of firework-based attacks. Those new Masters might have backup too, as Capcom says that some classic villains might be back. That includes Astro Man, who you can see briefly in the trailer below.

If that’s the case, then it’s a good thing that the blue bot will have some fresh tricks up his sleeve. Those include a “custom chip system”, as well as the title “Override” system. Working like a super-charge, Override can power-up attacks. It’s a tradeoff though, as once the effect wears off, the little guy will be vulnerable.

Along with that, he’s also got some backup of his own, in the form of Proto Man. Yep, the classic hero returns for another run at Doctor Wiley and his cadre of metallic miscreants.

Mega Man: Dual Override is heading to the Switch/Switch 2, PS4/PS5, XBOX One/XBOX Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Store) some time in 2027. The game is up for wish listing right now, and you can check out the official site (here) for more.

Also worth noting, is if you have hankering to play some of the classics, is that there’s a sale ongoing. Select titles from the history of the franchise are discounted, across what sounds like multiple digital storefronts. So if you’re up for some older Mega-action, make sure to check that out.

From Rebellion, Alien Deathstorm continues to look like a game that FPS fans won’t want to sleep on. Check out the latest.

A Deathstorm yes, but hostile aliens too

Trapped on an exo-colony that’s embroiled in a planetary Deathstorm seems like it’d be a harrowing experience. So does facing down legions of hostile beasts, while trying to survive said storm. We’re talking about upcoming first-person shooter Alien Deathstorm there, a game that’s firmly on our radar.

For those not following the game, it’s developer Rebellion‘s latest project. We first reported on it a few months back, though it’s looking even better now. In the latest look, genre fans can check out even more of the lone engineer in action.

We got a good look at the above thanks to a showing at Gamescom today, and it’s looking sharp. The levels of atmosphere are off the charts in this new trailer, as the storm is a constant threat to everything in its path. That includes shearing off sections of a building that the engineer is making his/her way through.

Then there are the aliens. Looking almost as relentless as the storm, the tidal wave of savage foes that’ve over taken the colony look to come in a few forms, all of which are sufficiently nasty.

Alien Deathstorm sees you exploring a devastated off-world colony which has been ravaged by a cataclysmic mega-storm and overrun by dangerous aliens. You will have to use your skills and firepower to discover what has happened to the colony. You knew it was going to be bad, but it’s much worse than you expected, and it’s going downhill fast. What you thought was a rescue mission has now become a furious fight for survival.

Action-horror first-person shooter Alien Deathstorm puts you in the heat of the action as an isolated Engineer faced with insurmountable odds. Dropped into a decimated human colony at the mercy of both a planetary scale storm and a seemingly endless swarm of predatory aliens. The storm is an ever-present and escalating danger. It has already wreaked unprecedented damage on the planet and proves a constant, ongoing threat to the intrepid Engineer.

Rebellion press release

So, what’d you think? For our part, we’re more impressed with Alien Deathstorm every time we see it. So far anyway, it’s looking like a title to watch, as it heads towards its Spring of 2027 release for the XBOX Series X|S, PC (via Steam and XBOX on PC), and PS5. Along with the those platforms, players can also look for Alien Deathstorm to hit Game Pass on day one, and be XBOX Cloud playable.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is about to sink its teeth into consoles and the PC. Before it arrives though, get one last look at it in action.

The Dawnwalker is almost here

A game that continues to look like it might be a standout, The Blood of Dawnwalker‘s release is fast-approaching. Crafted by Rebel Wolves, the game casts players as a recently turned, medieval vampire called Coen. But this initiate to the supernatural is different. Instead of turning to ash, he’s able to become human during the day.

If you guessed that means he’ll be on the hunt for bloody vengeance, you’re on the right track. But it also means that The Blood of Dawnwalker will be replete with choices, as Coen is torn between two worlds. Those can be for both good or ill, but players would be wise to make them count.

According to Rebel Wolves, what Coen does will directly affect his world, which promises that “nothing is ever truly black and white.”

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world action RPG set in the atmospheric setting of the Carpathian Mountains. This land is filled not only with beautiful landscapes but also with myths, beliefs, and mysteries hidden within its forests, roadside shrines, and ancient ruins. From the very beginning, the game will give players the freedom to explore the world at their own pace, discover quests, uncover points of interest and seek out secrets, mysteries, and treasures waiting to be discovered.

“All of us here at Rebel Wolves are counting down the days to launch of our first game. We can’t wait for the moment when players step into Vale Sangora and come face-to-face with Brencis and his vampire clique. We also hope that today’s trailer will encourage even more players to visit our booth at gamescom in Hall 6.1 and try our game,” said Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director and Co-Founder of Rebel Wolves.

Rebel Wolves press release

Just the beginning, Rebel Wolves says that it has big plans for Coen and his world. That’ll include future installments of the series-to-be taking players to visit “new eras and cultures, each offering its own setting and experience.” There’s a heck of a lot to play with in that regard, when you’re talking about an immortal hero. That’s down the line though, and The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first foray into the company’s new world.

Would-be players can check the title out when it arrives for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC. Look for it on September 3rd, 2026. In the meantime, you can check out more on the official site, here.

One heck of a lot of info came pouring out of Gamescom today, pertaining to retro-fueled, FPS sequel Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2.

Have Boltgun, will Gamescom

Probably one of the most anticipated retro first-person shooters out there at present, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is rocketing towards release. The title follows up on the 2023 original, which was a breakaway hit for developer Auroch Digital.

Boltgun 2 is looking like it might be a worthy successor to that lineage too, adding in more of just about everything. That includes a second playable character. Ultramarine Malum Caedo will be joined by Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath this time, as they engage a horde of Chaos filth.

If you’ve been waiting for more about the game, praise the Emperor, because your day has arrived. That’s thanks to the title’s appearance at Gamescom, which has been quite generous with details. Chief amongst those, is the reveal of a new arch-foe, called Vashtorr the Arkifane.

That’s not all though. Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games have also announced a massive name that’s set to rock the soundtrack for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. That would be one Mick Gordon, who shooter fans should be well familiar with, thanks to his work on DOOM.

If you’re a fan of his, then you’ll no doubt recognize his work the second the below trailer starts up. It loaded with blasting audio, and more daemons than you shake a chainsword at.

Traveling to an isolated star system to check on reports of increased Chaos activity, playable characters Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath soon find themselves facing the wrath of Vashtorr the Arkifane. A demigod of immense power, Vashtorr awakens a vast daemonic machine at the centre of the planet, causing a catastrophic explosion and destroying much of the Imperial fleet. Now Malum and Nyra must race from world to world to cleanse the corruption powering Vashtorr’s daemonic machinations – and to stand a chance of banishing the demigod back to the Warp.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 continues where the original Boltgun left off, bringing unrepentant strafing action and increased variety of killer weapon selection to fans. Battle fan-favorite foes like the sassy plague-spreading Nurglings and Chaos Cultists, as well as all-new enemies. The ferocious Bloodletters and their bloodthirsty Juggernauts are just the beginning. Greater terrors await in the Emperor’s endless war.

Big Fan Games press release

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is heading towards an October 14th release date. Fans will be able to pick it up for the PC, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S. Prefer to take the action mobile with the Switch 2? Well, as of today, it’s officially on the way to Nintendo’s latest platform. That won’t mean a day one release, but publisher Big Fan Games says to expect it not long afterwards.

Audeze is back with another headset, in the Maxwell 2 ANC. And for those who might be looking for quality and features, it’s packed.

Audio accompaniment

We’ve reviewed a whole bunch of headsets over the years here at BG, and I’ve done my fair share of that lot. Most of those have been geared towards gaming, naturally. And when you talk about those leanings, you have to mention Audeze.

A higher end company, Audeze has some truly impressive products out there. I’ve taken a look at some earbuds from them that blew me away, so I’m kind of a believer already. The company is well rounded too, with multiple lines, including one that’s dedicated to the video gaming hobby. And it’s on that note, that we get to the Maxwell 2 ANC, wireless gaming headset.

A part of the category mentioned above, the Maxwell 2 ANC falls right smack, dab in the middle of the company’s offerings. That’s in terms of both features and pricing, though I can tell you that I certainly wouldn’t have guessed either.

That’s because of two things. First, this headset is fairly pricy. And second? It’s also, and pretty easily, one of the most fully-featured ones I’ve ever used. Constructed with “aviation-grade technology” according to Audeze, it delivers tremendous sound, and feels like something special in general. On top of that, it’s usable with just about everything, by one means or another.

I’m probably getting too deep into it for the intro through, so let’s get on with it before I spoil the whole thing.

Setting the stage

Like any higher end headset or pair of headphones, the Maxwell 2 ANC has multiple ways of connecting. Chief among those is, naturally, via Bluetooth. I’m pretty sure that wireless connectivity is still preferred in the modern era over anything else, so if you’re in the group that likes that freedom, you’re good to go with these. Depending.

The version of the headset that I’m taking a look at here in this review is chiefly meant for the PlayStation. That’s not to say that it’s limited to just Sony’s PS5 though, since again, users can connect to just about everything out there. It’s just how that can happen that’ll vary.

First and foremost, there’s the bluetooth option. Anyone with a smart device or a computer should be well versed in that, and activating pairing simply requires a double tap of the power button once the headset is active. I had zero issues linking to my phone in that manner, for example. Packed in with the unit are a host of other options for connectivity though.

Those include a small receiver, that can be used to wirelessly connect to the PS5, a PC/Mac, or even a Switch. Users just have to flip a tiny slider to set it to console or PC, which’ll do the job desired. Said dongle is USB-C in form, so ideally what you’re connecting to will make use of that, hence the PS5. If you’d like to use it with something else though, there’s also an included USB-A converter to facilitate.

Branching out

It’s not the most ideal of things, the converter, since it’s a cable. It’s that long, but it’s also not what I’d call an elegant solution either. Still, if you’re looking to connect to a piece of hardware that doesn’t support USB-C, it definitely comes in handy. And I’m happy to say that the headset simply connects, without any issues that I’ve found, when either of the above options are used. While we’re still talking about connectivity though, I should also mention the stereo cable.

Maybe not the slickest of options, a good old stereo cable will nonetheless get the job done in connecting to a good chunk of sources in a pinch. Among such ‘pinches’ by the way, could be connecting to an XBOX controller. So yeah, with that in mind, the PlayStation version of the Maxwell 2 ANC can pretty much work with everything.

That said though, there is a dedicated XBOX edition of the headset available. So if your preferred platform is a little greener than the PS5, you might want to keep that in mind.

Noise Cancellation

I was trying to think of another headset that I’ve used that had anywhere near as many options as the Maxwell 2 ANC. I’ve used a lot of them over my gaming life, but I really can’t think of one that does anywhere near as much as this bad boy.

Before we get to anything else though, there’s the “ANC” part of the name. And yes, that stands for Active Noise Cancellation. The Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC features several levels of that, and the effects are startling. First and foremost, there’s the sound blocking, which Audeze says cuts out “up to 35dB of background noise”.

While making use of the feature, I could just barely hear anything around me. Other than a low hiss in the headset itself, the effect was fantastic. Granted, I wasn’t exactly in a high traffic area while I was testing them, but the effect was extremely noticeable nonetheless. As I mentioned too, there are also two other modes, including a cool passthrough called Transparency Mode.

That feature allows for sound to pass through the headset while you’re using it. It’s a little hard to explain, but basically, you get ambient sound piped into the ear cups along with the media you’re listening to. That seems like it’d be great if you need to keep aware of your surroundings, like on a walk. Then there’s also the ability to turn off all of the above, in which case you get slightly muffled ambient noise sneaking through the cups, passive style. Nice to have options.

We’re not done yet

Speaking of options, there are a multitude more. The Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC features support for “Tempest 3D” on the PS5, which can deliver a 3D audio effect. I always find that that kind of feature is an acquired taste, but it’s another cool option nonetheless.

Then there’s AI Noise Removal technology as well, which can filter out background sound from the audio-in. That works via an AI system that’s reportedly trained on a monstrous 500k sounds. This can be switched on across a pair of levels, or not used at all. Oh, and yes, I said “mics”. Plural.

While there’s a detachable boom mic that affixes to the front of the unit, there’s also a backup system that’s built into the headset itself. Audeze says this is to provide audio options while you don’t have access to the boom, which I thought was a pretty neat idea. I didn’t actually realize it had the system onboard, and found it by accident while I was wearing it and looking for a switch. I immediately heard my hand brush by it, which was definitely a surprise.

On top of that beastly list too, there are also a host of equalizer features, a smartphone app where you can play around with more settings, and even a mic-monitoring option. I’m not kidding when I say that this set does a heck of a lot.

Looking like a champ

Okay, so the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC is a fully-featured, audio machine. But how’s it shake out, physically? It’s pretty sharp overall, is my answer to that, as it’s cast in a black and silver motif that I really dig. And the build is extremely solid.

As I mentioned a few times, I’ve tried out a lot of headsets. Those have ranged from heavy to featherweight, and have hit every notch in between. The Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC skews towards the heavier side of the equation, though not uncomfortably so. That’s likely due to the fact that there’s quite a bit of metal that’s been put into the build. And yes, that does give the headset a heft. But I do want to emphasize, that the weight doesn’t mean it’s a burden to wear.

Quite the opposite actually, as I played through the just-released Mafia: The Old Country expansion with them and loved every minute of it. The only issue that I had was that my ears got a little warm from the memory foam cups after a few hours of use. There’s nothing shocking about that though.

Control challenges (sort of)

One big mention that I wanted to get in here, is that some of the controls can be a little hard to get a handle on. Those are mainly mounted on the left ear cup. It’s there that users will find the mics, the stereo-in port, the charging port, and a pair of dials.

Those dials pull double duty, serving primarily to adjust sound volumes. But if you depress them, you’ll run through the options that I mentioned in the section above. You might be wondering what the problem with that is, and it’s that if you’re trying to adjust the volume, you have a good chance pressing the dial in instead.

When I first used the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC, I thought the volume was seriously stunted because of that. Basically, I’m used to headsets that allow for a heavier touch, so I kept pressing the dial in and running through features, instead of actually turning the wheel. And when I went lighter on it, I was simply gliding across it instead of turning it. That took some getting used to, though I’ll also add that once I did, I had no troubles at all.

Speaking of “no troubles”

Even the best-looking, most fully-featured headset in the world can lose out in the sound department. I can attest to that. It’s the make or break for anything audio related though, and poor quality in that arena can make something that looks cool and sports tons of features into a dud. Fortunately, that’s not the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC.

Now, I’ll add before we go any further, that I’m not what you’d call an audiophile. I love good sound, and have some quality speakers to that end that I normally make use of. But all the same, I’m not the guy to tell you about some minor sound differences that are all but undetectable.

More or less, if the quality is clear and the bass is detectable to a solid degree, I’m good. That said, this is easily one of the most impressive sounding headsets that I’ve used. The levels of sound detail are go pretty deep with the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC, and the different modes can all play parts, if you want them to.

Going back to Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor, the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC provided a terrific scope to the audio. Gunshots and explosions were loud and punctuating, while the smaller and quieter noises came across with sharp detail. Walking through the Sicilian countryside for example, I got my fill of natural sounds like leaves crunching underfoot.

The same can be said of Halo: Campaign Evolved, which showcased another terrific range. Everything from its legendary score, to the blasts of the needler came across rich and beautifully detailed. And what the heck, I’ll throw in that listening to my playlist while I work has been a joy too.

Overall

If you’ve read to the end, you have my thanks, as I went on way too long with this review. There’s just so much to say about the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC, and I wanted to get all the major points in. Obviously though, I really dig this headset. It’s a joy to use, with excellent sound quality and host of really cool features that I actually found myself using at different times. That’s kind of a first for me!

Yes, it does have that heft issue I mentioned, and the headband actually takes a little getting used to as well, as it’s a tad stiff. Otherwise though, this is a tremendous piece of audio equipment that basically works with almost anything. If you’re looking for something that offers that kind of flexibility, while serving up a premium sound experience, give the Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC a serious look.

Time to blast through the city streets, as Gamescom saw Sega taking the wraps off of Crazy Taxi: World Tour‘s multiplayer mode.

That’s one Crazy Taxi

So far, we’ve seen a decent amount of Sega‘s reinvented Crazy Taxi in action. The first new title in the line since 2002, the all-new Crazy Taxi: World Tour has looked like it might be shaping up nicely. At least, the single player mode has.

The multiplayer is another story, as we hadn’t seen a glimpse of it until it debuted at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show. Falling right in line with the aforementioned campaign though, the multiplayer action looks pretty darn fast, and packed with fares to grab. You might recognize the cabbies you’ll be able to play as too. Gena, B.D. Joe, and Gus will all be back to join the green-haired Axel in the modern era.

And if you’re wondering how that multiplayer will work, it’s fairly straightforward. It sounds like the city will open up for the mode, allowing players to have a shared experience with the game’s world. According to Sega, that’ll include the ability to “compete for passengers, battle for dominance of the streets, discover new shortcuts and create unforgettable moments of multiplayer Crazy Taxi chaos”.

Did you catch a returning tune in there? That’s right, Bad Religion’s “Ten in 2010” will be included, and it’s not the only track to be making a comeback. Sega says that a group of faves will be included for Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Those will include “All I Want” and “Change the World” by The Offspring, and “Them and Us” and “Inner Logic” by the mentioned-above rockers, Bad Religion.

Unfortunately, there’s no official release date yet for Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Stay tuned though, because it’ll be on the way some time in 2027. Look for it to hit the XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, Steam, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

On top of that, it’s also an XBOX Play Anywhere title. So it’s yet another addition to that lineup.

Testing

Don’t forget, while we’re talking about new trailers and multiplayer, that a Closed Network Test is coming up too. That’s set to land next month, and will be running from September 11th through the 13th. And if you’re keen to get in on it, you still have some time.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour’s returning cabbies

Remember that this is a closed test, so you’ll need to actually apply to take part. Fortunately, those applications are still open, and not set to close until August 31st (2026). Players who are selected will be able to try out the multiplayer modes that the game will offer. We assume that’ll include the above debuting one, though there’s no word on what might be onboard.

Want in? Then you might want to click here to check out the official page. There you’ll be able to find the full details, including “on participating countries, how to apply and requirements for participation”.
