Creative Blueprint, 376 Bathurst St., Toronto
Opening Reception: Dec. 15, 2016, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Gallery Hours: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily
Seneca’s Independent Illustration Diploma is excited to present its 11th Graduate Exhibition. Seneca College’s Independent Illustration program produces a diverse array of talented artists in both digital and traditional mediums. These skills, combined with the entrepreneurial business knowledge gained in the program, produce individuals ready to work in many different specialties in the illustration world, including comics, indie arts, children’s books, concept art, spot and packaging illustration.
For the 11th grad exhibition running, Aboveground Art Supplies is sponsoring Best in Show awarded during the opening reception.
The Illustration Diploma offered within the School of Creative Arts and Animation at Seneca College is unique in the province. A two year diploma combines traditional illustrative media, digital media and the business skills to give the independent artist the expertise necessary to succeed in the rapidly changing world of illustration. In addition to learning about traditional art forms such as drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture and digital media, students will create and register their own small business, have a working website, and have the accounting, marketing and revenue generating skills to succeed as entrepreneurial artists. Graduates go on to work in children’s and comic book illustration, spot and advertising illustration and the burgeoning industry of concept art for TV, film and game animation.
The School of Creative Arts and Animation within the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Design, is located at the Seneca@York campus on York University. With campuses across the Greater Toronto Area, Seneca College offers degrees, diplomas and certificates renowned for their quality and respected by employers. Combining the highest academic standards with practical, hands-on learning, expert teaching faculty and the latest technology ensures Seneca graduates are career-ready. Seneca’s Faculty of Communication, Arts and Design is a recognized leader in education for a comprehensive range of fields including animation, graphic design, illustration, photography, music & performance, documentary filmmaking, media, fashion, and event production.

]]>Creative Blueprint – Toronto proudly presents a striking exhibition of original works by resident artist Evan Kelemen.
Evan Kelemen was born and raised on the prairies of Southern Alberta, adopting Toronto as his home in the 1990s. An avid walker and explorer, Evan is a relentless collector of found objects that resurface in his mixed media paintings. These archaeological artifacts of urban and rural life embody his artistic exploration of a continuum across geographic time, space, and memory.
The exhibition features a fascinating series of Grain Elevators that Evan paints to maintain their memory, our history, and a piece of our collective soul.
Canadian Soul: Elevators to Here at the CB Gallery will be Evan’s fourth solo show in Toronto.

We are opening up applications in search of a few passionate people who would LOVE to become members of our community!
HOW IT WORKS
WHAT MAKES CREATIVE BLUEPRINT AWESOME?
It’s the people, of course! But this is a big city. You’re surrounded by people all the time. Here, what matters is the kinds of people you meet and how you get to know them.
We are home to some incredible, creative, independent, dynamic people. And we’re diverse. We have artists working alongside creative entrepreneurs. We’re home to independent workers and small teams, artists and makers working in all media. We host a wide variety of events in our spaces in Toronto and Seattle. Everyone is working on something unique, something awesome, and/or something of their own creation.
It’s just about the most inspiring environment you could want to be in if you’re currently working for yourself or if you’re thinking of starting something new.
WHY YOU SHOULD DO THIS
WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
You’re going to have a job that’s pretty easy, but incredibly important: you’re going to make sure things are running smoothly.
We’ve been around for quite a while now, so it’s a pretty easy operation to manage. Our members are generally self-directed artists and entrepreneurs, so they pretty much take care of themselves. There are, however, always things that require a human to keep an eye on and sometimes take care of. Watering the plants. Introducing new members. Replacing a light bulb. Distributing mail. Small, simple things, but each of them is critical in pruning the garden that lets the members of this community thrive.
You’ll also be giving tours to prospective new members, showing them around the space and getting to know them and their needs better. We’re not looking for hardcore salespeople here; we’re just looking for people who are genuine and welcoming.
You’ll also be invited to start or participate in any kind of fun, creative community projects we may imagine. Part of the beauty of having a place like this is that we can do (just about) anything we want with it!
Want to run a yoga class? Host an art exhibition? A potluck? A pug-lovers meetup? A late-night coworking jam session? It’s all on the table. Tell us what your dream event would be and we can likely make it happen!

Driven by Ashley Proctor with the help of an amazing team, we’ve always been a community that values accessibility, diversity and creativity. The core of Creative Blueprint is to prioritize the interests of the members first. Our spaces change and adapt along with our members.
We’re independently owned and operated, thanks to our members and the support of amazing people like you.
REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKING HERE
