Before JANDI, most of our communications have been via Zoom as 50% of our staff were working on-site and 50% were working remotely. However, things took a turn with the COVID-19 lockdown where 100% of our staff had to work remotely. We needed an app that can seamlessly compliment Zoom, hence why we chose JANDI. JANDI is quick, simple, easy to use. We tried the Slack Freemium but the internal take-up was below expectation. Our team preferred JANDI’s clean and simple user interface so it was easy to fall in love!
As HAUZ migrated to becoming a 100% remote working team due to COVID-19 and given that Zoom was our primary communication tool, we needed a platform that can fill in the gaps. It was clear we needed something more collaborative.
It is essential for us to have a platform where we can share our workfiles in one place without having to switch back and forth. With JANDI we could share files of different formats such as pdf, Google sheets, Google docs, Powerpoint presentations, audio files, and even screenshots!
Moreover, JANDI eliminates the need to rely on multiple platforms to get things done. It has chat rooms for casual or work discussions, easy and comprehensive file sharing feature, integration with our heavily used tools such as Zoom, Google Drive, Google Calendars and best of all, to-do lists for assigning tasks on the go. We value clear communication and we want to get things done simple and quick which is what JANDI offered our team.
With JANDI, we’ve noticed an increase in team efficiency and productivity. This is all thanks to JANDI’s simple and easy to use interface, there is a desktop, browser and mobile version. So our team is able to respond in real time to complete shared tasks with dependency to other team mates. This ranges from discussing marketing creatives, launching new features, approving budgets/spend, sharing results and updates, customer feedback and a bunch of other day-to-day operational things we have on our plates.
We appreciate the clear & smooth communication JANDI offers with easy to sort (alphabetical order, recency order, starred) topics/chat room in board view or chat view.
In addition, the advanced search tool allows users to quickly retrieve files or documents by topic, member, date and file type; gone are the days of tediously scrolling through messaging apps (WhatsApp?) for a file or document. All these little features drive up efficiency as we spend more time focussing on what’s important for our business.
Our favourite features include:
Everyone works differently and JANDI understands this by allowing users to organise their folders in whichever way they want, thus empowering our team to better manage their workflow.
Prior to embracing a 100% remote workforce, HAUZ relied heavily on Zoom as the primary source of communication between teammates. JANDI’s integration with Zoom enables us to document our chat history after the Zoom call ends. We can assign tasks to ourselves and others to avoid miscommunication or from things falling off the crack.
In the ‘Tool’ section, we can see mentions, polls, file, starred messages and drive folders. The file storage tab displays the files shared in joined rooms, by members and file types. As for the drive folder, it can be viewed by name, sharing option (public or private) and date of creation. The organisation of these files have been super helpful as we have remote teams in Malaysia and Singapore working on common projects. As you’d imagine the teams are sharing files and commenting, so having some context to what is discussed helps each member manage their task and responsibilities better.
If we do need to search for a file or document, it is easily done just with the search bar. You can search for files by topic, member posted, date of sharing and file type. Long gone are the days of tediously scrolling through hundreds of messages to find the file we need.
It’s worth mentioning that we have tried the freemium version for Slack but the onboarding internally wasn’t up to our expectations. This was the reverse for JANDI, we were able to quickly figure out how to operate JANDI and if we had any questions, the built-in support feature allows us to quickly get in touch with the JANDI local and HQ team.
JANDI really helped us with our productivity and efficiency.
We would recommend JANDI to other companies like us: companies with a remote work force and companies working in a fast-paced environment. JANDI’s features that really helped us with our productivity and efficiency were the seamless file-sharing function and task assignment, also known as the To-Do List. Our company relied on Zoom as a primary communication tool so it was lovely that we found a software that complements our tried and tested, familiar communication tool instead of having to relearn and adopt a new tool.
Other than that, we highly recommend JANDI to other tech companies or start-ups because of the seamless integration with GitHub, BitBucket, Jira etc. Other general productivity applications integrated with JANDI are Trello, Google Calendar. You can even keep up-to-date with industry news using RSS, this is especially helpful when you’d want to keep an eye out for competitors and market trends. If you’re using other tools, JANDI supports Webhooks for both incoming and outgoing notifications. If you find switching between chat and email frustrating, setting up a webhook to receive email in your JANDI workspace is completely possible.
We think huge companies that rely on teamwork and inter-department collaboration would benefit significantly with JANDI. Most companies rely on WhatsApp as a primary communication tool within and between teams and this often is a surefire way for miscommunication to happen. How many times have someone left their phone for 5 minutes and their group chat has accumulated over 100+ messages unread? This hampers productivity because employees would have to scroll back over 100+ messages of mismatching content to work out what has been discussed and concluded. Your work tools should make life easier, not the other way around, that’s why we choose JANDI!
All in all, JANDI has been massively supportive of our company from start to finish and our advice is to go with the best and most flexible collaboration tool for all your productivity needs. Choose JANDI to work smarter. It’s never too late to start!

A Communication Channel Customized for GC Genome’s Company Culture
The post How GC Genome realizes JANDI’s infinite potential appeared first on JANDI blog.
]]>
Hello, I am Park So-jin, the director of GC Genome’s Academic Marketing Team. GC Genome, established in 2013, is a subsidiary of Green Cross’s genome analysis division and is conducting disease diagnosis service business through various genome analysis. GC Genome is changing the health industry’s paradigm by realizing customized treatments using genome analysis information and is growing as a leader in the genome diagnostics market.
The academic marketing team is responsible for providing the correct value (product information/service/communication) of GC Genome products to customers by establishing various marketing strategies, planning, and operating products through extensive monitoring of customers, markets, and competition. Currently, 82 members of the company, including our team, and about 112 people, including representatives of domestic and overseas partners, are actively collaborating using JANDI.
I would say that the GC Genome is mostly comprised of a younger generation of people. Our employees’ average age is in the 30s, and GC Genome is the first job for many of our members. They are full of energy and passion. So we needed a communication channel fit for the younger generation.
Our CEO, who supports the youthful company culture, encouraged the review of services that enable collaboration between members regardless of time and place. The Precision Medicine Center (PMC) team directly compared and used various collaboration tools. Then the team adopted and utilized JANDI because it was the most convenient tool for collaboration. Then the PMC team spread its values to the entire organization. As a result, the whole company is now using JANDI as a collaboration tool.
When you take a look at GC Genome’s JANDI Dashboard, you can see how active our members are communicating through JANDI. On average, 3000 messages are going back and forth on JANDI a day. That means each member sends at least 37 messages per day for efficient collaboration. The numbers show how JANDI settled itself in our company as the primary method for communication.
It was really due to the efforts of the Precision Medicine Center (PMC) that JANDI was able to take root deeply throughout the company. The PMC, which develops and operates a genome information diagnostics and clinical genome test management system, linked the System Management and Service Request system, which are involved in the overall workflow of GC Green Cross Genome, with JANDI through a webhook integration.
For example, when tasks related to medical institution response tasks, inspections, and data analysis tasks show up in the system, real-time notifications are delivered to the person in charge via JANDI so that they can quickly comprehend the work progress. In particular, using the open-source n8n, which relays webhooks for linking with JANDI, we could connect with the system more flexibly.
The era of integrating all systems in-house has come to an end.
We are now using loosely coupled services specialized for each area.– Dr. Kim Ji Hoon, Chief Director of PMC –
This way, the organization works faster and more efficiently by exchanging messages with each service through JANDI, an integrated communication hub, while taking full advantage of the unique strengths of each service.
The Precision Medicine Center informs members of how to easily integrate JANDI services without special technical knowledge and share the methods used to suit their own work throughout the company. That’s how we were able to encourage everyone in the company to use JANDI actively. On top of more than 3000 messages sent in JANDI, we have more than 274 JANDI Connect integrations.
When there has been a change in your Trello or a request comes in, you can check the progress with JANDI notifications and proceed quickly. Even without special IT knowledge, you can connect with Trello with just a few clicks.
Before we adopted JANDI, our members had to manually search for new academic papers or articles and share them with the group using emails. Now that we have integrated Pubmed and FDA related articles using RSS, we can automatically receive notifications in JANDI. This way, it is more efficient to share such information with our members. Not only does it reduce the burden on the employee’s workload, but it also provides quick access to information in real-time.
You can check the schedule of members in other departments and schedule meetings. The event reminder feature will help you to keep up with your task-related events.
We were introduced to Channel Talk (a CRM tool) through the JANDI Blog. Because it can be integrated with JANDI, we have decided to use Channel Talk as a customer service platform.
Using JANDI’s Outgoing Webhook integration feature, we can create and use a weather forecast bot and a translator bot. With these bots, we can check the weather in real-time and translate into various languages, including English, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Chinese, Spanish, French, Russian, Thai, German, and Italian.
As JANDI becomes the main communication channel, topics and chat rooms naturally increase. If you want to keep the data in a Topic, but do not wish them to appear on your Topic list, you invite ‘John Doe.’ Keep in mind, John Doe is not an actual employee of our organization. He is just a fake account. However, we all understand that once John Doe enters the Topic, we all leave. Everyone who used to be in the Topic leaves, but John Doe will stay in the Topic, along with all the messages and data, archiving the Topic.
By having a John Doe figure account, the group can have a clear standard of ‘old information’ and focus on the newer and more critical Topics. There is no concern about data loss because all the vital data is stored permanently in JANDI. Now, How can you find messages or files after you have left a topic? Set your search filters and simply search them, and they will appear. If you have problems finding the right information, always ask John Doe to invite you to the topic.
Then who should play the ‘John Doe’ figure? For smoother management, the Team Admin who has the least possibility of leaving the Team should be in charge of the John Doe account. In GC Genome, the John Doe Admin is working hard every day to archive old Topics!
JANDI is recommended for organizations that are
sensitive to change and adapt quickly, just like ours
GC Genome is an R&D company that responds quickly to market demands. Because our company responds quickly to changes, it is necessary to collect information without misunderstanding or omission, make quick decisions, and communicate simultaneously. To this end, integrated communication channels within the organization are of paramount importance, and JANDI plays a significant role.
JANDI is a new world with abundant potential and
a hub for loosely coupled services.
JANDI is a service that has endless possibilities depending on how you use it. From organically connecting GC Genome’s system to JANDI using JANDI Connect, to creating a virtual member called John Doe for a unique way to archive a topic, GC Genome was able to utilize JANDI in such a unique way because we explored JANDI to reach its full potential.
In the future, we will continue researching and pioneering ways that JANDI can create synergies with various Loosely Coupled services and contribute to improving the organization’s work productivity. JANDI is a new continent with many possibilities to empower the pioneering spirit of the frontier GC in the field of clinical genomes.

]]>As a core industry, the construction industry is the central axis of the Second Industrial Revolution. Since the industry’s beginning in the 18th century, many construction companies have a long history and a solid foundation. In particular, vertical integration is standard in the industry, and its corporate culture and work methods tend to be that of the 20th century rather than the 21st. Since the construction industry’s overall view remains in the secondary industry, many aspects do not blend well with the 3rd and 4th industries, just like water and oil. The best example of this is the word method. Unlike the quaternary industry, where time and space constraints have been significantly reduced, the construction industry is still suffering from problems such as the physical separation of construction sites and the headquarters and communication issues. Although not a direct factor, the fact that the average age range of industry workers is high inevitably affects communication difficulties.
As a result, many companies still use face-to-face methods, phone calls, and documented paperwork, and since the 2000s, cases of using emails and messengers have increased. In 2010, as mobile devices became more popular, communication problems had progressed, but compared to ICT companies still focusing on digital transformation, there is a long way to go. However, the 4th Industrial Revolution is an event that has a profound impact on the tertiary industry and the primary and secondary industries. Accordingly, the construction industry is also facing a challenge to digital transformation. This is because responding to the fourth industry itself is a process that directly helps to continue business and improve work productivity in the future society.
And the first step is to transform communication. As mentioned earlier, there is a physical distance between the construction site workers and the construction industry headquarters. This problem can be solved with information and communication technology.
Each employee can deliver work content accurately and efficiently so that companies in the construction industry can gradually achieve work efficiency and digital transformation. This is why the “work messenger” dedicated to communication required for work emerges as the first step in digital transformation. This is because the method of introducing a dedicated messenger optimized for work is the most effective rather than a one-time video conferencing, voice chat, or in-house messenger. We visited the Bosung Group, which is building a digital workplace among the company members by introducing JANDI, a business collaboration tool, and listened to the story in person.
Bosung Group’s executive director Jung-Sil Lim says. Bosung Group is a company that has as its main subsidiaries Hanyang Co., Ltd., which is known as “Sujain” apartments to general consumers, and Bosung Industry, which runs real estate/housing development business.
In recent years, the company has expanded its scope to the energy business from construction to solar, bio, and LNG in response to the 4th industrial revolution. Besides, as part of the eco-friendly eco-city project, the Bosung Group is making complete steps to develop the “SolaSeaDo” in Haenam, Jeollanam-do, and the “Sejong Smart City National Demonstration Project,” which was recently selected on October 9.
Bosung Group has been focusing on the construction industry for over 40 years. Because the company’s business was directly connected to the construction site, it faced difficulties adopting a digital business method. However, Bosung reached where it is today because it could figure out the new digital transformation trend and has been pushing for digitalization, just like IT companies. Let’s hear the details from Jung-Sil Lim, the current executive in charge of the digital management team. Jung-Sil Lim is an industry expert who has dealt with a wide range of IT technologies such as architecture, AI/big data at LG CNS for the past 25 years, and is in charge of drawing the blueprint for digital transformation at the Bosung Group.
Bosung Group emphasized that the IT factor lacking in the construction industry was ‘digital transformation’ as a management innovation tool according to changes in work and business environment. Executive director Lim said, “Originally, digital transformation is spreading to all industries led by IT companies, but it is true that the construction/energy industry is somewhat behind. However, even in the traditional industrial area, digital transformation is an irreversible trend of the times. It is necessary to define and promote the essential areas and methods according to the business environment.
She also added, ”Bosung Group focuses on changing the way of working by renewing each affiliate’s homepage and establishing a digital workplace to handle all of the existing offline-based promotion, securing investors, marketing, and recruiting on an online basis. It also deals with intelligence tasks such as business development management using drones, surveying, solar panel monitoring, and solar data analysis, focusing on new businesses such as energy and smart cities.”
Bosung Group is a comprehensive enterprise that encompasses a wide range of fields such as energy, construction, extensive real estate development, leisure, and future cities. Because it is such a big company, they carefully reviewed adopting JANDI.
The first tool the Bosung Group decided to use for business communication within the company and with partners is JANDI. Before using JANDI, the company mainly used electronic approval through the work portal, telephone, and e-mail. Although there was an in-house messenger, it was a daily routine to manually write, copy, and share meeting notes.
In November of last year, as part of digital transformation and online conversion, JANDI was introduced in business communication and started paralleling with in-house messengers. As telecommuting began due to COVID19, communication through JANDI started on a full scale throughout the company during the demonstration period. Of course, before JANDI was introduced, the company reviewed various global and domestic messengers. Still, JANDI was selected considering the advantages of differentiated functions and services because it was easier to use.
From a corporate standpoint, JANDI has the merit that it is optimized for domestic work environments such as work portal and in-house system integration.
Executive director Lim said, “We did a suitability study for various enterprise messengers, but due to the nature of construction companies with multiple age groups, it was essential that all company members could easily understand them. From that point of view, JANDI had 1:1 support, improved function, and accessible UI, and most of all, it was easy to use.
In particular, JANDI’s unique menu and topic composition enable efficient communication without confusion as it allows communication to be carried out by distributing work by project. As it is a domestic solution, it is possible to improve business communication requirements or meet existing domestic business systems. The advantage is that the connection is flexible. For instance, JANDI added features tailored to our needs such as registering or editing planner schedules on the digital workplace, centralized file and links, Zoom integration, and the dashboard feature.”
The executive director also emphasized the new organization chart feature. Personal messengers only work when both parties are connected, but JANDI provides the company organization chart so anyone in a specific department can take action and carry out the job. Another benefit is that anyone who joined the Topic later could still go over previous messages to grasp the workflow. This is only possible in an enterprise messenger, not a personal messenger.
JANDI also plays a central role in work efficiency and productivity. Bosung Group announced that it has been working from home twice in March and during phase 2.5 of social distancing, and it has confirmed that it has a tremendous influence in terms of efficiency. Previously, it was possible to access the company mail or internal system from outside through a virtual private network (VPN). Still, it was difficult for all members of the company to use it.
In particular, real-time communication is essential even because of local sites’ communication due to construction companies’ nature. However, in the past, communication through e-mails and messengers were only one way and not even in real-time, so it took extra time to communicate.
JANDI solves all of these problems because members can use it on their smartphones or PC. Communication on JANDI is quick and in real-time.
Moreover, JANDI has a system where members can discuss various subject matters on multiple Topics and quickly added the video conferencing feature for efficient communication. Executive director Lim said, “without JANDI and its centralized file system, it would have been tough to cope with telecommuting.”
I used to think that enterprise collaboration tools like JANDI are suited for startups and office workers, but I quickly realized that it was a prejudice. It is already proven to be efficient in the construction industry that communicates with sites such as the Bosung Group.
JANDI is also widely used in the franchise industry, logistics, distribution, and other industries that require real-time communication. To get back to the starting point, when asked how the conservative construction industry would accept JANDI, executive director Lim said, “Even for real-time communication and coordination of opinions from multiple people, business messengers are essential. However, construction companies need to find a method by comprehensively considering the organizational culture, the will of the CEO, and the environment inside and outside the company.”
The need for enterprise collaboration messengers is quite apparent to carry out tasks in the construction industry. However, it is also essential when considering the digital transformation in the workplace. In fact, companies that have already begun digital transformation like Bosung Group are in the flow of preparing for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. On the other hand, companies that are insensitive to digital transformation are companies with a traditional structure, and their future position will inevitably become weaker eventually. In that sense, it is necessary to face the trends of the times, starting with a messenger for work like JANDI.
Executive Lim also added a personal opinion on JANDI. She said, “When we first introduced JANDI to the company, many people were concerned that JANDI is a tool for smaller companies. Bosung Group is a company with many sectors and members, and we were doubtful of how people would accept the new software. We formed a group called Digital Pioneers for digital transformation within the company, and it went through a pilot test (trial operation) for 3 to 4 months. The group discussed with Toss Lab so that Toss Lab could accommodate the requirements for the Digital Pioneers. The JANDI team was very supportive of meeting our needs and reflected our conditions as much as possible. I saw a clear possibility at this point.”
Of course, we also criticized issues such as the Topics’ complexity for those involved in various projects and the need for more authority figures in larger JANDI Teams. It was impressive that Bosung and Toss Lab exchanged constructive opinions as to the user and the software maker.
For Bosung Group, the decision to introduce JANDI was not merely because they can efficiently work from home. Bosung Group already encourages all employees to read articles on the group and market every morning through JANDI, connect them with news feeds, inform major conferences in advance, share data, and conduct on-site meetings through video conferences. Beyond the simple messenger function, JANDI is widely applied in all aspects of communication. Even in the company’s elevators, the dialogue “I’ll send it through JANDI” often comes and goes, proof that many employees quickly adapt to JANDI and appreciate its business functionality.
Even the construction industry, which was previously based on analog communication, can be digitalized thanks to the atmosphere that even individual construction industry members work as part of a digital workplace. In particular, as non-face-to-face work such as working from home or remote work is encouraged due to the influence of the COVID19, the importance and efficiency of communication for work in a digital workplace will be more critical.
The introduction of JANDI in Bosung Group is the first step toward digital transformation and a challenge to strengthen corporate competitiveness. COVID 19 as the catalyst has already ignited digital transformation, so all industry leaders are accelerating the digital transformation they have already prepared. Now is the time for all companies, including the construction industry, to start improving communication, at least by using tools like JANDI. Bosung Group’s introduction of JANDI is expected to be a textbook case in which the traditional secondary industry, the construction industry, evolves in line with the fourth industrial era.

Many companies are not well prepared to communicate with foreign countries.
The post The Reason NEXEN TIRE Chose JANDI as a Collaboration Tool appeared first on JANDI blog.
]]>
It is no exaggeration to say that ‘communication’ is the most important thing for companies to conduct business and projects. For the company to run smoothly, it is necessary for each member to be assigned appropriately to the essential tasks and to share opinions to bring out the best results. In the past, members communicated and exchanged ideas through face-to-face meetings. However, the number of people gathering in one space is gradually decreasing as we enter the ‘Post COVID 19 era.’
At times like this, companies turn to ‘collaboration tools’ as a solution. The idea is to exchange various opinions without having to face each other through wired and wireless networks. Some use personal messengers such as KakaoTalk or LINE. The problem is that if you handle business materials with a personal messenger, you may accidentally distribute important data or lose important data. Most messengers have a storage period, so data download is impossible after a certain period. Data loss in a work environment is fatal.
Unlike personal messengers, collaboration tools allow communication according to specific tasks and enable people to handle data more efficiently. Therefore the number of cases where many companies have reviewed or introduced collaboration tools is rising. NEXEN TIRE, a global tire manufacturer, is also one of the companies that improved efficiency by adopting a collaboration tool, and they chose Toss Lab’s JANDI. Then what are the reasons behind the corporation’s decision? To hear the story, we met Yang-sun Choi, the Director of NEXEN TIRE’s enterprise resource management (ERP) team, and Seok-won Kim, director of the marketing strategy team.
JANDI is a collaboration tool used by more than 1,700 people in NEXEN TIRE, including managers, expatriates, overseas managers, and production employees. However, before implementing JANDI, NEXEN TIRE, like any company, said that it was communicating using personal messengers at work. The distinction between public and private communication channels wasn’t clear because employees had to use personal messengers for both work and personal matters. It was also a potential problem that there was concern that work-related records might not be adequately classified or deleted.
As a global company competing in the market with production bases in Korea, the US, and the Czech Republic and overseas subsidiaries in China and other areas, NEXEN TIRE felt that it was outdated not to adopt a proper online collaboration tool. This idea brought up the need for an efficient tool for all employees at the company. Director Choi Yang-sun said, “At first, we wanted to introduce a messenger, not a collaboration tool, but we paid attention to the fact that collaboration tools have become a trend these days.”
In the process of reviewing to introduce a collaboration tool, Choi explained that he fell into another concern. In reviewing various tools, a question arose about choosing the On-Premises method or the SaaS – Software as a Service method. In the On-premise method, a system is built in-house and operated directly. SaaS is a method of purchasing and using cloud-based software services from an external company.
NEXEN TIRE decided to adapt SaaS after much consideration. This is because a stable service is essential for flexible collaboration across international borders. Also, by using the SaaS method, updates are made steadily without additional costs. In particular, from the standpoint of a global corporation, the premise was that they should have access to the network without problems in any country. The reality is that some foreign countries have a relatively poor network environment, and this factor needed to be considered seriously.
The final question remained: which service to choose? NEXEN TIRE began to review several services and eventually decided on JANDI. Regarding the reason for selecting JANDI, team leader Choi Yang-sun said,” We had many options to choose from, but there was no reference case in China. On the other hand, JANDI already had Chinese users. Also, since the service is based on Amazon Web Services (AWS), I thought it would be better for speed and service stability. It is one of the cloud companies that are recognized and serviced all over the world.”
When asked about the significant changes after adopting JANDI, Director Kim Seok-won said, “It is easier to coordinate and announce the schedule through one unified route.” Director Choi Yang-sun added, “The distinction between the public and private areas, which was the initial purpose of implementing JANDI, seems to be progressing.” By using a collaboration tool, the window for communicating with the employees has been unified, and an environment in which people can naturally focus on work and personal life has been created.
If they adopted any other collaboration tool, it would have been used among members in a single team. However, JANDI enables members to communicate with other team members as well. Through JANDI, members don’t have to have met the other person they are working with. JANDI has an organization chart feature that allows members to see information regarding members, positions, and departments. This feature is custom made for Asian corporations’ needs. Toss Lab has also optimized JANDI for NEXEN TIRE in particular.
By looking at the organization chart in JANDI and finding the necessary members for collaboration, it became possible to conduct efficient work. This feature has been a big help for global communication. Using JANDI, global collaboration capabilities have improved as it facilitates communication with expatriates and locals in Korea and Qingdao, the Czech Republic, and China, and enables unified communication with the headquarters. This is possible because JANDI is a SaaS-based collaboration tool.
Of course, it was difficult to replace existing messengers with collaboration tools. Even after adopting JANDI, some are still using personal messengers. However, the company believes that over time all employees will eventually collaborate using JANDI at the workplace.
“One thing that I felt during the process is that everyone prefers what is familiar. So are the young employees in the company. Some complained that the previous way was good enough. There were even talks about whether the management was introducing a new tool for surveillance. However, it was clear what we wanted to achieve, which is the unification of communication, so we expected time to solve it.”
Director Choi Yang-sun says that the majority are currently communicating and collaborating on JANDI, and the complaints and concerns that were first mentioned were eventually settled and disappeared. Because JANDI was easy to use, members naturally began to use it without additional training or guide. As members used it more than a certain number, it served as an integrated communication channel.
Director Kim Seok-won also said, “There was some confusion in the beginning. Some used it, and some didn’t. However, in the end, for the successful establishment of a collaborative tool culture, team leaders and above agreed to communicate with JANDI, and naturally, the team members followed. When the communication channels are unified, it seems to unify the entire group as well.
NEXEN TIRE initially adopted JANDI so that even members who haven’t met face-to-face can communicate with ease. Although there have been difficulties in the beginning, most employees, domestic and abroad, now use JANDI as the primary collaboration tool. This will be one of the examples of innovation in the way we work.
In addition to NEXEN TIRE, several companies are introducing or reviewing collaboration tools other than JANDI. This is because efficient work can be carried out non-face-to-face in the remote working era.
When asked for advice from the company’s standpoint that adopted a collaboration tool, Director Choi Yang-sun recommended that companies focus on overseas accessibility.
“I was surprised that despite many companies using corporate messengers or collaboration tools, they were not well prepared to communicate with foreign countries. Even if you haven’t expanded overseas right now, you need to prepare in advance for the future. Find out whether you can support overseas services and multilingual. Besides, software services like JANDI (SaaS) should also be cloud-based.”

Toss Lab, Inc. – An enterprise communication SaaS “JANDI” provider – attracted KRW 14B (US$ 12M) investment as a Series B stage. Softbank Ventures, Atinum Investment, SV Investment, SparkLabs, Shinhan Capital, T Investment, and Must Asset Management participated in the Series C investment.
Toss Lab, Inc. is focusing on growing its business. Compared with its revenue in 2016, the revenue increased 6.4 times in 2019.
JANDI -the enterprise application for communication like a Slack -has 2 million users as of May 2020. As most enterprise SaaS startups target small and medium-sized businesses, JANDI has customer reference cases like LG CNS, CJ, and Nexen tire.
Their business performance is positive. The net revenue retention of Jandi is around 120%. The startup clients like Musinsa, Happycall, and Yanadoo are growing their business. As the business grows, the users of JANDI grow as well.
The conversion rate from free trial users to paid users is around 40%. The statistic is higher than that of Slack. Slack’s conversion rate is 30%.
According to Gartner, the estimated public cloud service market is US$ 2.3B. The estimated SaaS market in South Korea is US$ 980M taking 42% of the total market. With this figure, the SaaS Market seems promising.
However, the SaaS market includes revenue from Microsoft Office products. The end of service on the legacy Microsoft Office is October this year. Microsoft is promoting its SaaS-based Office 365 while contracting the EA agreement. Microsoft Office takes 70% of the market share in South Korea. It is being estimated that last year’s Office 365 related revenue in South Korea was from US$ 400M to US$ 450M. Excluding the Microsoft Office 365 revenue, the market size is around US$ 430M to US$ 480M.
The customized and dedicated IT environment per client had been a barrier to expanding the SaaS business. Furthermore, except for some global companies like Samsung, LG, or HYUNDAI, most large enterprises were used to adopting on-premise based applications, not SaaS. Most of the SaaS vendors have recruited its sales account manager as the Samsung team or non-Samsung team. That is why the result by Toss Lab is meaningful from the market perspective.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies were adopting the Work from Home policy. Unlike the legacy working environment, the communication and productivity tools were urgently demanded. Furthermore, the seniors and executives realized why the SaaS application is needed.
Started its business from South Korea, Toss Lab, Inc. focused on expanding to the APAC markets such as Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The JANDI became the no.1 Communication and Productivity tool in the Taiwanese market as well. JP Lee, the head of the Korea team in Softbank Ventures, said, “We have invested Toss Lab to make them the Slack in Asian Market.”
Toss Lab will use the investment fund for its market expansion to the global market. The service will be upgraded with the marketing activity as well.

JANDI is a platform where Birdies can easily access information and collaborate
The post How Korea’s No.1 Cosmetic App, Hwahae scaled their business appeared first on JANDI blog.
]]>
Hi everyone! My name is Han Eun-Jung, and I am the manager of Birdview’s growth management team. Birdview is the company that launched Korea’s most popular cosmetic mobile app, Hwahae. More than half of the women in their 20s and 30s in Korea are using our app. Through Hwahae, we are growing into a platform that solves the “information asymmetry” of the cosmetics market by providing users with a wide range of information, including cosmetic products, reviews, rankings, ingredients, as well as beauty contents and shopping.
The Growth Management Team is a team that helps Birdview members, Birdies, by establishing a system and cultural environment to create an “autonomous growth platform for all team members to grow together.” Over 85 company-wide Birdies and 20 outsourced freelancers and partners use JANDI to collaborate and work.
As Korea’s No.1 cosmetic information platform, Hwahae currently has more than 5 million cosmetic reviews and has grown into an app used by half of the women in their 20s and 30s. Over the years, our organization grew along with the app and was in need of an efficient communication channel. The development team was using Slack in the past but switched over to JANDI due to its easy-to-use and simple user interface. JANDI has made it easier to collaborate with our external partners, so we made JANDI our official communication channel across the company in 2016.
What is the difference between Slack and JANDI ? >>
I think JANDI played a big role, especially during this pandemic because the organization was able to quickly switch to telecommuting and work without losing productivity while working at home for about 13 weeks. To manage ongoing projects, we created a topic for team updates so the stakeholders are informed and to identify roadblocks.
Topics for daily and weekly updates were particularly helpful for the team in bridging the physical gap and communicating efficiently.
We are using JANDI in all of our divisions. Using JANDI for quick and simple discussion and collaboration has become our company culture. Using the @mention feature helped us eliminate the need to use emails.
By integrating Google Calendar for sharing schedules and attendance, Birdies are always informed of the whereabouts of their colleagues. The development team integrated JIRA to manage issues from the app, and the design team integrated Trello for smoother collaboration. Integrations helped keep the team on their toes by providing real-time notifications in respective topics.
For company-wide notifications, we used the board view to share and manage information. The growth management team for example uses the board to announce important updates so employees notified immediately.
Topics such as ‘Brand Card News’ were created by our design team for an open and casual discussion. You can work more spontaneously if you create one content and exchange feedback and use stickers to express opinions among Birdies.
The ‘Beauty Industry News Topic’ is used for Birdies to share interesting articles and discuss them. It also serves as a forum for all members to discuss ideas they have come across through YouTube and blogs.
There are also many topics that incorporated Birdview’s corporate culture. In the ‘Birdview Cinema Topic’ Birdies vote on movies and food for the company movie night held in the lounge.
The ‘Birdies Family Topic’ is for the organization to share non-work-related content such as weekend activities and hobbies. We also discovered a green finger in the company
We recommend JANDI for organizations with lean teams.
Birdview is a company that moves, communicates, and grows rapidly. We use JANDI instead of email to share files and hold discussions. JANDI communication itself is work progress for us. Birdview’s Hwahae app has risen to the top cosmetic information platform in a short period of time. We have to move and grow at a quick pace due to the high number of users and reviews we get. I think this is possible because a culture that facilitates sharing and collaboration have established itself.
JANDI is Birdview’s information management platform.
Ever since we have adopted JANDI, JANDI has become a space that holds all of Birdview’s memories and thoughts. Just as the service called ‘Hwahae’ solved the ‘information asymmetry’ problem in the cosmetics market, ‘JANDI’ is also a platform where Birdies can easily access information and collaborate with everyone in equal communication. I am confident that JANDI will continue enabling Hwahae’s rapid growth in the future. Hwaiting Hwahae and JANDI!

Anyone can use JANDI without training. I strongly recommend JANDI to factories with a large number of on-site production personnel.

JANDI, Change Work : Elizabeth seSE
“ From furniture production to delivery,
all tasks are managed by JANDI.”
Hello, my name is Kim Se Young, and I am the CEO of Elizabeth seSE.
In 2007, I was appointed to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as a staff of a furniture company. Since then, I have been working in the furniture industry, and now I am working as a furniture export agent.
Elizabeth seSE is a local furniture export agent in Vietnam.
There are many furniture importer companies that import furniture from Vietnam to Korea using many different routes. However, coming to Vietnam, finding a factory, ordering and importing furniture to Korea is not an easy task. We work as a furniture export agent in Vietnam, where we have many tips in handling the importation of furniture, covering everything from beginning to end for clients.
The Vietnamese colleagues have been calling me ‘Sese’ because they had difficulty pronouncing my Korean name. That’s why I decided to name my company ‘Elizabeth seSE’ after that nickname.
<Factory in Vietnam producing furniture>
There is something I always say to those who work with me.
<CEO Kim’s personal messager profile requesting business contact via JANDI>
We did not use any other types of communication tools before JANDI. I’ve searched a lot on the Internet to see if there existed communication tools that fit our unordinary and complex agent work. We then came across JANDI and used it. The way that we collaborate where there were no unnecessary chats went well with our company’s business, which was being a furniture export agent.
Like Kakaotalk in Korea, Zalo, a personal messenger, in Vietnam is used not only for personal purposes but also for business. But Zalo is confusing because personal matters and business-related contents are not clearly distinguished.
At the same time, there are clients who ask you to e-mail them for business. But as you may know, it was difficult to catch up on what was going on in the factory via e-mails, where there were too many ongoing projects.
Just like many other companies, we used Kakaotalk to do business with Korean buyers and Zalo for Vietnamese members. But we thought that it was making things more difficult since we were only communicating one-to-one with the person in charge, not being able to organize tasks in a unified communication channel. We had to juggle between Kakaotalk, Zalo, and emails. That’s why I suggested to our clients that we work only with JANDI, and we use neither personal messengers nor e-mails since then.
We have tested Taskworld, a project management service to check order status. It was difficult for our Vietnamese employees to use. We have to work with a wide range of people, from office employees to filed employees actually producing products in over 10 furniture factories, and it is not easy to educate each and every member. But JANDI was easy and simple to use, and that’s why we implemented JANDI as our collaborative tool.
< Members working conveniently with JANDI in a café’>
Topics are created for each container that has received the furniture order. In our company, finishing one task means that we have finished loading the containers for furniture delivery on the ship. So we have created our own topic naming rule that tells us how our orders are going just by looking at topic names. The rules for naming topics are as follows.
<Topic name tells at-a-glance view of the order’s progress>
If you create topic titles based on the progress of your task, it is easy to find out what’s going on with just a glance, since the topics are automatically arranged in alphabetical order.
For example, if there is a – mark in front of the topic, it is soon going to be in progress. If there is a + mark, it is already in production. Like this, we change the symbol in front of the topic according to the progress of the task. Finally, when the container of the topic is loaded onto the ship, we put mark X in front of the topic, meaning that it is a completed task.
Due to the nature of our business, we often have to revisit order requests that have already been completed. So we don’t immediately delete the topic. We leave it there for a certain amount of time. It is our pride to organize our topics according to projects and managing order status by using our own sense of business. : )
It is also useful to use the JUMP(shortcut: Ctrl + J) to navigate to the topic you want using the ‘Search Chat Room’ function when the number of topics continues to increase.
<Topics arranged according to orders>
I have told you that each topic is a task loading the container onto the ship. Within the topic, there are always To-Do’s called ORDER SHEETs, where details of the order for the container of the delivered furniture are recorded.
<Order sheet To-Do for each container made as a set for each topic>
This ORDER SHEET, which is engraved into each topic like a heart, also has rules for creation. Make order details for each topic titled ‘Order-Sheet – Model Name(No.)’ and record the in the To-Do description for a total of 27 items, including size, quantity, material, cushion, destination port, etc. With only the Order Sheet on the topic, you can quickly see the details of the order.
<Details of the order recorded in the description section of the Order Sheet>
Generally, one container delivery period takes a total of 45 days. We divide this order period and set up a To-Do notification that alerts you once in every five days. It helps to check various items and orders requests at regular intervals from the beginning of the task until the container is shipped. If it is an urgent task, you can also set notification alerts that are shorter than five days.
<Reminder alert for Order Sheet To-Do’s set at interval>
When loading products onto the ship, we take a picture of the product. For example, before closing doors to the container, our staffs take a picture of the luggage and upload it directly to JANDI to check product status together. Real-time observation of product defects and delivery status is available. It is very convenient since you can upload photos taken by your phone directly onto JANDI. This is a very basic function, but we also use the ‘search frequently uploaded files’ feature.
<Employees upload pictures to check product quality>
<Pictures of loaded products were taken and shared with buyers>
We have become able to organize and manage lots of concurrent work. Project management using the concept of ‘Topic = One Container Order’ has made everything organized, and business management has become easier.
Becoming used to giving and taking feedback on JANDI and organizing meetings in messages without having an offline meeting with staff on-site has also reduced the amount of unnecessary time spent on offline meetings.
Searching for files or work contents has become faster and easier than it has been when we worked with e-mails in the past, increasing work performance.
There aren’t many differences in the way Vietnamese companies and employees work, compared with foreign companies or employees. I think that Vietnam is the country that works most like Koreans. As they manage everything, from furniture processes to orders, production, and exports, smooth communication with factories’ on-site staff is very important. In keeping with these characteristics, we’ve been able to run the company smoothly until today, thanks to the Vietnamese employees who have been working very kindly and efficiently.
Making sure that deals run smoothly between furniture importers in Korea and exporters running factories in Vietnam, that is what we, Elizabeth seSE do. We do everything related to business on JANDI.
<The Third Anniversary Party of CEO Kim Se-Young and the Domestic Team>
I recommend you not to be in a hurry. Gain some experience, sufficiently understand Vietnamese culture and language before starting a business. I also strongly recommend that you learn Vietnamese. I think that Vietnamese has simple and easy words and sentence structures. If you learn Vietnamese, you know your local language and can work in your own way; otherwise, you will always have to rely on interpreters. I believe that confidence in business abroad depends on whether you can speak that local language.
In relation, our company has participated in the translation process for the launch of JANDI in Vietnamese. We are very pleased to use JANDI in Vietnamese.
Many factories are moving from China to Vietnam. In line with these changes, we recommend JANDI to factories with a large number of on-site production workers. Factories have a large number of production workers as well as management positions, and Vietnamese sewing companies, in particular, are especially large. There are some cases where effective processing or management of processes is difficult, in addition to the fact that the factory itself is large and that it has many people. I think that it would be good to create topics according to projects and check the organized schedules and work status. For companies that have high export volumes and enough budgets, I recommend to use JANDI for a further increase in productivity.
P.S. We interviewed Vietnam’s Kim Se-Young using video call,
provided by JANDI’s Enterprise Plan.

The biggest advantage of JANDI is that it can be used in countries where the internet speed is as slow as MODEMs.

JANDI, Change Work : Medipeace
“Using JANDI, it feels like a staff overseas
is working right beside me.”
Medipeace is an NGO specializing in international health. International health refers to international cooperation for the health rights of the entire human race. Medipeace provides support for neighbors who are unable to access basic health care services, especially due to lack of infrastructure or system, poverty, and conflict. We have overseas branches in Vietnam and Tanzania, and we are conducting humanitarian aid projects in many foreign countries, including Senegal, Bolivia, Nepal, the Philippines, etc.
In order to have expertise in health care to build infrastructure that leads to fundamental changes and to have sufficient rehabilitation services within the region, we also establish a professional therapist training degree in partnership with the local health university to ensure that the service is sustainable and run well. The ultimate goal of Medipeace is contributing to creating a world where everyone can enjoy the right to be equally healthy without discrimination.
We used personal messengers, but there were many problems.
The speed issue of personal messengers was huge. Sometimes, it was even hard to just send messages and communicate because we couldn’t gain connection at all. For this reason, we needed a collaborative tool that overseas employees could use fast. Staff in our company recommended the use of JANDI, and we started to use JANDI because of its high speed overseas.
1. Easy to check members’ schedules: Many employees are away from work due to short-term assignments or overseas business trips. The integration between JANDI Connect and Google Calendar has reduced the inconvenience of scheduling each and every one of them.
Google Calendar integration makes it easy to identify each employee’s schedule and how each branch is being operated.
2. Organization Chart: We have been able to quickly search who is on which team and who is on duty using the Org Chart.
3. Easy and quick Handover: All previous conversations remain preserved and the indefinite storage period of files eliminates the need to teach every new member of the team. It is convenient since we can know the whole history of a task.
4. Ease of managing file versions: JANDI allows us to leave comments on each file, making it easier to manage versions of shared files.
5. Online Status Check: We can make sure employees are at work or not with JANDI online status. Since we work frequently outside the office, it is useful to estimate response time with the green dot on a member’s profile. The online status dot can tell if they’re connected to JANDI or not.
6. External File Sharing: External sharing of files shared on JANDI is very easy. All we have to do is send a link to share.
7. Preservation of photo information: Valid information, such as location information stored in photos, disappears when shared in other messengers. However, JANDI keeps them, making it easier to organize and understand field data.
Thank you very much for providing this reliable and good software at a reasonable price for our non-profit organization. We are using it very well! The biggest advantage of JANDI is that it can be used in countries where the internet speed is as slow as MODEMs.

How does the JANDI's own development team that makes JANDI operates topics? I will show you JANDI topic images from our development team so you can take a peek at it

JANDI is a collaborative tool that is more complex and delicate than we thought.
How does the JANDI’s own development team that makes JANDI operates topics?
I will show you JANDI topic images from our development team so you can take a peek at it
JANDI development organization consists of a back-end team, a front-end team, and a mobile team. This is why we use a prefix to the name of topics to identify the use of topics easily. Name of departments, such as [FE] for the frontend team, [BE] for the backend team, and [Deployment] for the deployment usage topics.
You can also create your own Topic folder the way you want to organize many topics. For example, the topics that the entire development team needs to check out are grouped into a [Dev] folder. So, except for topics that you can obviously know how to use them right away, I will give you a brief overview of the topic of the JANDI dev team.
Development teams will review codes, fix bugs, and deploy the code in the order. It’s hard to check all status changes in this process. (Because everyone is so busy to do!) So we’ve integrated JANDI connect to be notified by external services.
In particular, the development team has topics connected to other services related to server monitoring for stable service delivery and project management tools. Let’s look at the topics in more detail in the order of the development team’s work.
JANDI dev team uses Github to reflect and commit codes. It’s easy to get alerts on JANDI topics by each repository. Not only it helps developers to review each other’s code, but product managers who work closely with development teams can also see the progress of the issue.
< JANDI team’s GitHub >
< GitHub Commit Notifications on JANDI >
Bitbucket, which is similar to Github, is popular among developers because of its unlimited private repositories with less than five members. Bitbucket is also easy to be connected to JANDI.
* We are currently supporting Bitbucket Cloud. Bitbucket Server will be supported in the future.
This integration will send notifications for commits, comments, pull requests, and other activities on Bitbucket Cloud to a JANDI topic
< BitBucket Setting page to add Webhook >
< Bitbucket JANDI Connect Message >
When there is a new feature launch or bug fix, the JANDI development team uses JIRA. We divide JIRA projects by each platform of the team. It is easy to be alarmed under the JANDI connect notifications linked to each project’s progress change.
< JIRA Projects divided by the Platform >
< CS-related JIRA issues were filtered and send separate notifications >
In particular, JIRA issues related to the customer technical support and requested by the CX team were filtered and send JIRA notifications to a separate topic.
Only issues labeled the ‘CS’ component are filtered and send notifications to the ‘CS-Webhook’ topic. So even customer managers who are not familiar with technical tools such as JIRA can easily check the progress of customer inquiries.
< CS- related JIRA issues are filtered to send JANDI connect notifications >
JANDI development team also uses a variety of services, including Jenkins and AWS, to deploy and to check the server status. In addition to the built-in services of the JANDI connection, let’s see how various webhooks are linked with external services.
< AWS Instance Scheduler Diagram >
< Server Scheduler Topic >
Release Note is a board view topic as a bulletin board form. JANDI development team always share all new feature announcements or released tasks to all members on this topic. By translating the Korean notes into English in the comments, the global team members also are able to understand the new functions that have been modified or newly released.
< Weekly Release Note >
< New Sticker Release Note >
We look into how JANDI’s own developers use JANDI. I hope you get an insight to organize topics and link JANDI Connect for development teams.
Work better together!
