This briefing titled Making the NPT Work for Global Security, is aimed at participants in the lead-up to the 2026 NPT Review Conference. It highlights the dangers of misconceived deterrence beliefs that are leading some nuclear-armed leaders and allies to carry out dangerous nuclear escalations that increase the probability that nuclear weapons will be used. The briefing promotes 16 key steps that NPT and non-NPT governments need to prioritise to pull humanity back from the brink of nuclear war that we face from mad leaders and computer and human mistakes and miscalculations.
