It’s so hard to know when it’s time. My tripawd is 15. He hasn’t lost his spark. He still enjoys walks with a harness and eating and company. But he is less and less mobile on his own. Like Quasimodo pulling himself around and dragging his once agile rear leg. It’s so heartbreaking to see him struggle. But I can tell if that’s enough to euthanize him. He’s such a survivor and fighter. And he is so sensitive and smart. He chatters his teeth with nerves whenever I even think about it.

Our Great Pyrenees just had amputation surgery a week ago. She had a horrible infection. Thank you very much for your story, it is helpful!

In reply to Rob Lee. Rob, the industry is always changing. I do know that Boris had a rear-leg prosthetic developed by OrthoPets, which is no longer around. I'm sure that other companies are researching it so I would contact some to find out if your dog is a candidate.

I am excited to see these companies. I have a tripped PWD. He had his right rear leg amputated. When he was 3 months old. He is now 6.

Is there a good solution for. The back side amputees. I connected with 😀 pets and was told no.

Re-visited here to think about Cemil for a minute—he ended up living almost to 13. The cancer never came back, but the arthritis pain became unmanageable. He was a hero throughout it all.
I still miss you, Mr Big Boy!
