Finally got out to do this last weekend! Such a rad outing. Did a summit bivy on Pink the night before, definitely a fun way to do it. Took on both headwalls directly as well, second had a crux that felt like 5.8+. What an amazing ridge! Thanks for the beta, feel free to ping me when you’re back if you’re looking to get back out into the Gore!

Got it done this weekend! Added a bivy overnight on Pink to make it extra fun. Such a rad traverse! Ended up doing the direct lines on the first two head walls, second had a crux that was probably 5.8. Nothin else like it I’ve done in CO! Thanks for all the beta. Hit me up when you’re back!

Hey Zach, I appreciate you still read and reference these old TRs! Yeah, this ridge is a good one, one of my favorites in the range. And, very solid rock for the most part. It is fairly slabby for sure on some parts. A little more slippery with mountain boots. I’d bring a thin 30m rope and a few slings and cams for sure in the winter. Easily and super fun soloing in dry conditions. The 1st time I did it in approach shoes, but the 2nd time I just switched from trail runners to my TC Pros at the low point saddle and had a ball scrambling mostly up to the false summit of Red Peak proper. It would be interesting in winter, but I bet you could find most of the pitches fairly dry like you would this winter. That would be ideal. I am currently living on the island of Mallorca, Spain with my wife and kids and dog, but we will be back to the Valley by August 1 this coming summer!

Hey Brandon! Thanks for another epic TR. Was the climbing on this pretty slabby or more true cracks/face holds? Debating a winter attempt and trying to parse out how the climbing would be in mountain boots.

Thank you for responding to these archaic Gore trip reports that no one seems to read anymore and elaborating on your various adventures in the Gore, especially your winter trips! Good to hear of your exploits on Hail & Sleet. I’m not much of a list guy, especially a peak list guy anymore, so really don’t know what LOJ is even about. Nonetheless, I do enjoy hearing about the “off the beaten path” ascents of the various obscure Gore peaks, so thanks!
