Registrar Agency LLC will pay more than $520,000 in a settlement to resolve allegations the company sent more than 190,000 solicitations to Washington businesses that deceptively appeared to be bills from a government agency.

Washington victorious over HUD’s attack on fair housing protections

Washington and other states have secured relief from unlawful conditions the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) attempted to place on funds state and local agencies use to enforce fair housing laws.

The legal win protects federal funding for Washington under the Fair Housing Assistance Program (FHAP) to support efforts to protect residents from housing discrimination. In recent years, FHAP funds to the state have ranged from approximately $180,000 to $365,000 annually.

AG’s office urges UTC to reject PacifiCorp sale, details potential costs to Washington customers

The Attorney General’s Office filed testimony on Tuesday with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC), urging it to reject Pacific Power and Light Company (PacifiCorp)’s proposed sale of its Washington service area to Portland General Electric. The sale would increase costs and could deprive Washington customers of access to one of the state’s significant sources of clean energy, the Lewis River Hydroelectric Facility. Under Washington law, the UTC can only approve acquisitions of utility companies if they provide a net benefit to the public.

Washington joins FTC lawsuit alleging Amazon inflated ad pricing

A new lawsuit filed today by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 22 states, including Washington, alleges that Amazon has for years artificially inflated the prices of ads on its e-commerce platform and misrepresented how the company sets ad prices.

“Many small business owners in Washington rely on Amazon for their livelihoods, and our office is committed to making sure Amazon treats them fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the law.” Attorney General Nick Brown said.

The lawsuit challenges new conditions on Title X funds, a program that has existed for more than 50 years and supports cancer screenings, family planning, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, pregnancy testing and counseling, and other critical preventive healthcare for millions of Americans nationwide.

AG Brown announces largest Big Tech settlement in history

Meta to pay up to $17 billion and implement sweeping child-safety reforms on Instagram and Facebook

(Updated Aug. 26, 2026, to add the consent judgment.)

Washington Attorney General Nick Brown announced today a landmark $17.1 billion multistate settlement with Meta Platforms, Inc., to end litigation alleging the company knowingly failed to protect children on Facebook and Instagram.

This is the largest state consumer protection settlement in history outside the Big Tobacco settlements of the 1990s.
