]]>When a customer emailed to let me know of a project she had just completed for her daughter’s room… I was smitten! And naturally, I thought to my little self… I must make this. So, I did. Here’s the finished product:
Here are the supplies I used:
- Printable Vinyl. Got mine on Amazon. It is the Cricut brand, but I used it with my Silhouette Cameo machine with no issues. It’s waterproof but not hard scratch proof.
- A basic inkjet printer. I used this one which is the one I own. You can use any old inkjet printer with the printable vinyl.
- A Silhouette Cameo Machine. *Optional.* I splurged and got one on sale at Christmas. You can cut the flowers out by hand but if you’re doing a full wall like I did then this with be a time-consuming process. You’ll need to find some software to arrange the flowers then print them. Photoshop, Picmonkey, Canva, and Silhouette Studio (Used below) will do the trick.
- Any watercolor flower clip art you fancy. I have various watercolor clip art sets available. If you don’t like my style, there are also plenty of watercolor clip art flowers available on Creative Market. I’ll show you how to easily arrange them in the free software, Silhouette Studio below.
- And adorable, 3 year old helper. *Also optional.* She said… “Mom, stop moving these after I put them where I want them!” Oops. What can I say? I may be a #perfectionist. Oy!
Basic Instructions:
1. Arrange your watercolor flower clip art in Silhouette Studio. I just printed all leaves and flowers separately. You can certainly make groups of flowers with leaves, but keep in mind that the more complex the flower arrangement, the trickier it will be to cut out. See video of how I arranged them and prepare them for cutting with the Silhouette Cameo below.
2. After you arrange them, send them to your inkjet printer to print. Make sure you know what side your printer prints on so that you don’t ruin your vinyl. I had to place mine vinyl side down.
3. Cut, cut baby. Simply cut out the printed vinyl flowers. For me, it was as simple as placing the vinyl on the cutting mat and sending it to my silhouette machine to cut. For tutorials on how to cut with your Silhouette machine, I enjoy the Silhouette School blog. I already had the registration marks printed so that my Silhouette machine knew exactly where to cut.
4. Peel, Arrange, and stick those cute vinyl flowers on the wall. Now, I didn’t have much of a method to my madness. I just tried to space out the flowers evenly and distribute them so that the pattern wasn’t too matchy, matchy. I also grouped various flowers with leaves. The good news is that if you don’t like the flower placement, you can always lift and re-stick the flowers. I did this several times and even though the wall was textured they still stuck. Obviously you don’t want to do this too much though.
And viola. The finished product! We love it and the good news is that it’s something that will be super easy to take down when we’re tired of it.

In today’s WordPress tutorial I wanted to share a handy little WordPress plugin that will leave your site so much more friendly for your site visitors. We’ll go over how to install a back to top button on your blog. What are they and why do you need one?
Well, if you’ve ever visited a blog page with a ton of vertical content (like a shop or blog page with lots of posts), you’ve no doubt gotten frustrated with the endless scrolling and scrolling and scrolling…. and, well, scrolling. If you’re toward the end of page, you need to give your users a quick way to easily land back at your main menu / important content at the top of your site.
SOLUTION: Enter the back to top button. Ah. So much better.
PSST. We love Amy’s site that runs on our Meadowbrook theme. She’s got a killer back to top button installed. I’ve installed one on my own site too and I’m here to show you how you can easily install one as well.
Anyhow, here’s how to install a back to top button on your blog.
First, install the free plugin called WPFront Scroll Top. This plugin is well-coded and plays nicely with Angie Makes feminine WordPress themes. Basically, this plugin does what it says and allows for some nice customization options… including uploading some custom back to top image buttons. I’ve included a download of some of these FREE back to top buttons below. You’re welcome! :)
Here’s how to easily install this plugin with your own back to top images. You’ll need to make sure you have a self-hosted WordPress site with the ability to install free 3rd party plugins. Here’s how to get your back to top button installed in no time. Psst… scroll below for the video tutorial.
- First, download the free plugin.
- Upload and activate the plugin in the plugin section of your dashboard.
- Navigate to the new WPFront Scroll Top section in your WordPress dashboard.
- Now, make things look how you want them to! Here’s what the interface looks like.
There’s a bunch of confusing options and ugly back to top buttons. Ick. Leave the defaults set, then… scroll to the very bottom where it says custom url. This is where we’ll put the custom url for the custom image you upload via your WordPress media tab.
Here’s how!
Upload your back to top image under the media tab in your WordPress dashboard. Click the image after upload and copy the url. (Apple C to copy.)
Then, simply insert it the code you’ve copied (Apple V to paste) and save.
Viola! Your back to top product should appear in the bottom right of your site on the front end. Hooray! You’ve just installed your back to top button.

Here’s a few ideas I had while playing around in the customizer of our Honeycrisp theme. SO many options. PRO TIP: Play with inserting full width, large, medium, and other image sizes to get the look you’re going for. Some of these backgrounds even repeat horizontally pretty nicely.
These header banner images measure roughly 1126px wide by 500px tall. Of course, you can always resize them in any image editor like Picmonkey as well to suite your needs.

- Free for personal use. This means use on your blogs, in your blog headers, and personal projects. Links back to this post and credit attributed to Angie Makes is not required but certainly appreciated.

I often talk to people who are in the middle of switching domains, migrating their content from Blogger.com to WordPress, or even moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress blog.
The main concern many of these people have, of course, is preserving their precious site content– years worth of posts, pages, and images. This is certainly an understandable concern. There are several options for these people when importing their content into WordPress. Luckily WordPress has some great tools available to import content from these other sites.
Moving Your Content From One WordPress Site to Another
This is the most straight-forward migration. Log-in to the WordPress dashboard for the site whose content you need to export. Then go to your tools tab. Click the export option. This will prompt you choose what content you would like to export. I chose to export all content.
When you click download, you will end up with an .xml that you will simply need to upload to your new WordPress site.
In your new WordPress dashboard, navigate to your tools tab again. This time click import.
You can now choose an option for the type of content you’re importing. We, of course will choose WordPress since that is where we’re importing our content from. Choose Run Importer. You are then prompted to upload the .xml file you downloaded from step 1.
After import you will see the following screen:
You can choose to assign an author to your posts. Also important to note is the download and import file attachments box. Make sure this is checked in order to grab all of your content.
Viola! You’ve transferred over your content.
**Sidenote. For those with larger amounts of posts, images, etc. and larger .xml import files, use this plugin to import your content. It works much better than the default importer and can even import your widgets into a new WordPress installation.
Moving Your Content From WordPress.com to Self-Hosted WordPress
The steps for migrating your content from WordPress.com to your self-hosted site are the same as above… it’s pretty simple! The main difference is the look of where you go to export your posts. It looks like this. You still find the export option under Settings / Export and can still choose what you’d like to export.
Many people pay for the Guided Transfer service that WordPress.com offers which can run $129 plus. I honestly believe this to be a bit of a waste as it’s quite simple to move over your own content to a new installation of WordPress.
Moving Your Content From Blogger to WordPress
Exporting your content from Blogger to WordPress is no big deal! Go to tools / other in you Blogger dashboard and select back up content.
Then, in your WordPress dashboard, go to Tools / Import. This time choose the Blogger option.
After uploading the .xml file that you previously downloaded, you can assign the authors to your posts.
Viola! Your content should be easily imported.

I whipped together this printable using the Portadown Clip Art Set, A sweet watercolor swashes background that is free on the blog, and my Hola Bonita font that’s in the Angie Makes Font Bundle of Glory. It took me just a few minutes and I had a creation all my own.
If you haven’t heard of printables, they’re basically just images or PDF documents that you can digitally download then print via your home computer, Staples, Kinkos, etc. to have a lovely piece of artwork to frame.. (Ahem. Or just hang your printables and artwork via clipboard on the walls like I do.) Tada!
