Moca after a raid
Pretty much done with this first illustration for my new book.
It’s based on Monica, my wife, who died in 2008 in a hit-and-run.
The character in the book is Moca, and I gave her Monica’s personality.
It’s all cosmic horror; the protagonists are fighting off an alien invasion, and I feel Monica would have fit perfectly into this scenario.

]]>I’m about halfway into my new novel, and this is by far the most personal yet.
I use my experiences as a homeless punk rocker, my upbringing in a military family, my travels around the world, my battles with brain cancer, and the death of my wife all into the mix to weave a tale of cosmic horror!
The super talented Christine Morgan will be editing my book, and hopefully it will be finished by early fall!
Big shout-out to Lisa Lee Tone and Jeff Strand for support, and the work of everyone from H.P. Lovecraft to the late, great Richard Matheson for inspiration!

]]>Early on, I got labeled as “The Giger guy”. In those early days, very few people could do Giger-based work. Even Leslie Barany, Giger’s agent, complemented my work!
I was so pigeonholed, I took a break for a while, but came back with this sleeve I did on Alex Stavdal. It was the second sleeve I did on him; some of the images were based on Giger’s book on film design, and it turned out to be my favorite Giger piece.

Jason Edminston’s interpretattion of the famous Universal Monsters
I think I like the concept of the Hollywood Universal Monsters better than the original movies.
The source material novels for Frankenstein and Dracula were great, classics I first read as a teenager in high school, but all the early movie interpretations were a bit campy and missed the intricacies of the source material.
That said, they did make some classic images that are still used by horror fans today.
This particular collection was illustrated by Jason Edminston, who liked my tattoo interpretation so much he included it in his book and wrote a blurb for a novel I released! It also won “Best Horror Tattoo” at the 2025 “Blood and Ink” tattoo convention!

]]>2007’s “Inside” was what the critics dubbed as “part of the new French Extremity Movement”. It was one of the best horror movies of the year, and was talked about with the other French horror breakouts that year, “Martyrs” and “Frontiers”.
Martyrs is definitely a classic, although I would say “Frontiers” is a bit like the French version of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, one of, in my opinion, the best horror movies ever made!
The main villain of Inside is an unnamed crazy stalker who wants to cut out a pregnant woman’s baby and keep it for herself, and an image of that character is what I tattooed at the Hell City Convention.
