HI Staffan,

Yes, fine to publish, no worries. Here are some pictures of progress.
We did the following for the deck refurbishment ( we hope it should give us another 8-10 years of wear):

1. Removed all caulking
2. Cut the rebate out (the strip of teak between each plank)
3. Cleaned all the new grooves and primed them
4. Recaulked with a product called Fixseal DC
5. Sanded all the smeared caulking and smoothed off the teak planks (they had heavy ridging as you know).
6. Removed all screws showing and all plugs that looked like they would go soon
7. Drilled down into the plank a little deeper
8. Refixed with a low profile head screw I have used 900 so far and are probably half way!
9. Replugged
10. Finished with a sand to smooth the top of the plugs and remove any extra epoxy from the deck

A really big job (approx 400 hours) but the result is very rewarding and this has also kept me fit. We also managed to find the cause of the hatch leaks up forward in the process so a big bonus.

We hauled out recently for the antifoul and also replaced 6 through hull fittings with Marelon (Forespar) on the Surveyors recommendation.

A quick question...there is a chain in the bilge, what is the purpose of this. I could always pull it through to look but am more comfortable knowing a little more about it.

So our plan is to sail to Tasmania in early December and cruise there for a while and then when we both finish work..New Zealand for an extended explore.

Cheers,

Andrew

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

 * A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF WAVES. THE TIME BETWEEN WAVE CRESTS
CAN VARY FROM 5 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. THE HAZARD MAY PERSIST FOR
MANY HOURS OR LONGER AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE.

 * IMPACTS CAN VARY SIGNIFICANTLY FROM ONE SECTION OF COAST TO
THE NEXT DUE TO LOCAL BATHYMETRY AND THE SHAPE AND ELEVATION
   OF THE SHORELINE.

 * IMPACTS CAN ALSO VARY DEPENDING UPON THE STATE OF THE TIDE AT
THE TIME OF THE MAXIMUM TSUNAMI WAVES.

 * PERSONS CAUGHT IN THE WATER OF A TSUNAMI MAY DROWN... BE
CRUSHED BY DEBRIS IN THE WATER... OR BE SWEPT OUT TO SEA.

Salsa is sold /salsa/posts/2015/9/4/1307-salsa-is-sold A wonderful family in Australia will take her on new adventures from now.
Hopefully they will run a blog or diary so you can follow her adventures.

One could easily say that we have moved down to smaller crafts and smaller waters.

How is to come home? /salsa/posts/2015/8/29/1306-how-is-to-come-home- Most blogs stop at the same moment the crew leaves the boat. I myself thought many times it is sad that nobody writes about how it is to come home.
To bad Im just as bad, but for instance now as Im trying to write this blog I am interrupted the whole time.
No reason for not doing it but I guess it shows what the driving force is. After all we are mostly writing for friends back home and once there, why would they bother?
Well we do have friends that are not at home, thanks Dianne and Graham for pushing me this morning, your mail from Savusavu made me go back to work on the blog again...
So, let me try to give you a summary on what life is about when returning.
Well first of all our hero, Salsa, is in Australia and it looks like she will get some new great owners that intend on taking her with kids and all back on adventure.
Unfortunately Salsa has made a few hiccups she never did before, all years we had her the engine never failed to start. Now when she is being taken to surveys etc the engine simply won't start.
The broker is struggling to get it fixed. There are a few issues before the buyer is satisfied, but all in all we think the deal will come through. It is hard to be so far away while things are happening that you would like to attend.
So the rest of the family?
We have settled in a wonderful house northeast of Norrtälje, the Baltic sea very near, and the wonderful archipelago of Roslagen (we have 25000 islands here!).
We live on the countryside with just one house visible from us, about 300m away. In the house we have over 200 square meters to live in plus double garage and a basement that is 100 m2!
What a change in space!
Suddenly we have washing machine, dish washer, electric oven etc etc...
When you say that you leave the comfort zone going away in a sailboat, you could surely say you leave the comfortable zone as well.
The kids have started school and it has worked out very well so far, it is nice to be home with your own language, and there is a concern from the teachers that newcomers will find their place.
Erika has asked that nobody makes it official that she has been sailing for 3 years, she is concerned to be treated as a "normal" child, as a start.
Andreas does not care, but nobody else seems to care either.
The weeks we have been home have been extremely social of course, family getting together, family visiting us and we have been touring around (we got ourselves an old Volvo, but it feels like limousine)

Ellinor has taken up a lot of administration to get back to work and I am getting in touch with clients, updating my work etc.

People are mostly very cool about our journey, they will say things like, what a great thing you have done! But further than that very few will want to know more.
These are the most common questions:

How does it feel to be back home?
Our answer is, Great! Comfortable! Still summer in Sweden will be more interesting to see what it feels when the winter sets in...

What was the greatest experience on the journey?
The disaster relief work in Vanuatu

One single place you will always remember?
Fulaga in Fiji

If we would want to go somewhere for vacation, what is the best place you have seen?
Fiji, if you get away from the crowd
Colombia

This question  is good,
did it turn out as you expected?
No, it was more of everything, more work than expected for instance...

This will do for today

The purpose of the blogg /salsa/posts/2015/8/1/1305-the-purpose-of-the-blogg Sitting in a great house with so much space there is a echo between the walls....
As we sit by the breakfast table, with the familiar Swedish brands, the kids eat porridge and milk, I look at my family and can't help asking myself:
was this trip for real?
I also look at these adventurers and I'm amazed that nothing shows on the outside, they look like normal people.

I promised I wold write when we got home, many are curious about how it is to adjust to a "normal" life.

One thing that struck my mind is all this talk about doing things you dream about before you die.
What is the purpose of that?
Unless you think you can bring memories with you there is actually no reason to fulfill a wish list, I would say the only reason to do something you dream about is to
make yourself grow or in case you have children to make them grow.
I think this journey has helped us all to grow and also showing to ourselves that we can accomplish very big tasks.
Not to show others, unless that inspires them, but to ourselves.

The day before yesterday we were interviewed by a Canadian journalist regarding our disaster relief work in Vanuatu.
well she asked us a lot about the whole journey. One thing about interviews is to hear what the others have to say.
She asked us about what we were worried about before leaving. I said that I was afraid of being afraid, how I would respond to
a critical situation. Ellinor said she was worried that our relation was going to be tested- hard.
I never knew she was worried about anything...]]>

Seaparation /salsa/posts/2015/7/19/1303-seaparation Back home, lots of wonderful "welcome home!"
But there are separations, which way you look , a journey is about leaving friends and family behind.
Maybe that's something we never anticipated, so many good byes.
A sea can be connecting to ships and disconnecting to landlubbers.
A sea divides continents and creates islands.
Three years has been about crossing those dividing oceans and by doing so we have met new people and that is what it is all
about!

Salsa is a mix /salsa/posts/2015/7/17/1302-salsa-is-a-mix Being back in Sweden we left "mixture of about anything" in Pittwater.
Now she is floating there waiting for a new owner. She looked really fine when we left her.
She was in a much better state than when we bought her, now we really wish she wont be having to wait there
for so long.
It is so strange, in one moment you live one life and the next you are back home, like somebody took you away with a giant force from a dream.
And of course an airplane is a giant force that moves people to a different place with a roar. Some cry on their way as they have to leave somebody behind and some cry of happiness when they
are finally going to meet their longed for.
When flying from one side of the world to the other the movement is so fast that your soul is left behind- so they say - and jetlag is actually your body trying to survive without soul until it has caught up with you.
Compared to sailing it is a violent movement, 3 years floating on a couple of oceans, three years with speeds of 5-8 knots.
We decided when to change the clock on a passage, and the biggest change in that was that somebody got an extra hours watch or an extra hour of sleep.

Now what happened the last days in Australia?
As Ellinor was recommended a yoga place with some extraordinary good teachers we headed for that in Sydney.
The problem was communication, we wanted to stay with the van so we had toilet and power to be able to sleep warm at night and at the same time Ellinor had to be there early in the morning.
The drawback of living in your vehicle is that if you need it everybody and everything has to go with it.
But after her first yoga session she asked around if anybody knew a caravan site closer to where we where.
A really nice guy called Marty offered to let us stay on the road by his apartment, we could use his facilities and thereby we got to know him.
He designs the most magnificent bikes I have seen!
But unfortunately I got really sick and the last days when we had to empty the boat of our cargo to fly with and clean up the last bit was like a cloud. A nightmarish cloud, it had to be done but coughing and a fever that made the whole body in pain was almost to much.
Finally we could return the camper van and were suddenly in a hotel room with 180 kg of stuff.
Next day we flew off and of course Ellinor and Erika went down the sickness path...

But now we are in Sweden and it is painfully beautiful at this time of the year. We were welcomed with clear skies as the plane approached Stockholm, the green the blue and the wonderful landscape beats it all. It is home and here nobody keeps asking us how long we are staying for and why we are here (yes it gets really tiring with customs and immigration, especially in Australia and New Zealand that seem to be worried that everyone is a potential lunatic).

At the airport we were welcomed by Ellinors parents who not only helped us with the extensive luggage but they prepared the most delicious meal you can be welcomed with in Sweden!
My eldest daughter and her husband had also left their car at the airport so we can use it while they are in Italy. What a luxury! Sit behind the wheel of a black Volvo S60 and try to keep in mind that it is right hand traffic now!!!!!]]>

Canberra is boring- with its enormous avenues and all pompous architecture it looks like a Soviet
era city that is better built and in better shape than the ones the Soviets managed to accomplish.
This is truly a city without history. All built at the same time it makes it look artificial.
We also managed to stay in a caravan park that could be titled as an asphalt desert surrounded by
square houses built in red bricks. The architect here had no idea about how to make something
harmonious...
The museum we managed to visit where great though, the National Museum of history, the National museum of art and the portrait gallery were all
great exhibitions.
But after that we fled away taking a turn around the Capitol hill that was if possible even more artificial...
We took the highway towards Sydney and stopped in Guildborn. Found a great camping place, had a good meal and fell asleep.
Today we took off right after breakfast and made it to Sydneys souther suburbs were we found a caravan park.
The idea is to stay here since Ellinor wants to take a few yoga lessons with some "guru" the coming mornings.
Once parked we took the train to the city and experienced the Sydney city center for the first time.
Great city life that can be grasped by foot (In Canberra you need to go by car as even the roads are to wide to cross in 30 minutes...(OK less)
As the kids were very negative when we visited the museum of art in Canberra we bribed them with a visit at the cinema if they could stay quite during our visit
at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. We hadn't needed to.The exhibitions were amazing even for the children.
But a promise is a promise so we went to the big cinema house on George Street and saw the midgets history...
Now we are back in the camper van after a train ride out again.
The temperature feels warm now, 10 degrees plus!]]>

Canberra /salsa/posts/2015/7/8/1298-canberra Well so far it looks still like the countryside. Tomorrow we will most likely move into the city centre and explore more.

Before I forget I should probably just mention that Andreas was laying beside me one morning and I think he is starting to realize that a new life is coming up.
He started to think about Salsa and the fact that we are selling her, "how can we sell her? She is part of the family?" was his question over and over again...

Being on the countryside, along the wineries, but maybe more than anything, rolling hills and sheeps is amazing, but even that can become enough efter a while.
In comparison with the sea, the sea wins...
But we had a great social part of our traveling, Donnas father Ron who proposed the track we are following did invite us to see him and his wife.
So of all places in the world we ended up in Harden
We hooked up our camper at the local camping ground and then Ron picked us up and me met Robin his wife.
But not only them, actually their son an grandchildren had just arrived as there is a school holiday.
Then their daughter showed up with her sons, well it became a big "party" with Mexican food etc.
Next day they took us on a sightseeing to Young with surrounding areas and at night we ate at a local restaurant.
Much fun and great way to get into Australia a bit more!
Today we left Harden in the morning and drove off to Canberra, first museum was the Dinosaur museum as it is on the way in.
It was a great experience!
Now we are plugged in on a campground that must be the ugliest we have been in so far...]]>

The route /salsa/posts/2015/7/5/1293-the-route Then we went to Sofala, an old goldmine town.
We are now in Cowra, a nice town and a nice camping ground.
The best part of the trip so far has been camping in the "wilderness" by a creek, the problem is that it is so cold that even the water freezes in the van.]]>
