I have trashed the Snap version of Firefox and installed via Deb, but it keeps opening a new profile when clicking on any external link.

Thanks for the instructions, as of Jan 2024 mozilla has set up an official Debian repo for firefox instead of the old PPA, in case people wanna use that, add it to your sources.list.d as normal, follow all the steps above, but change the Origin for unattended-upgrades to:

Unattended-Upgrade::Allowed-Origins:: “namespaces/moz-fx-productdelivery-pr-38b5/repositories/mozilla:mozilla”;

Firebuild aims to support all historical jobserver combinations, thus it needs to keep the jobserver allow-list :-\.

Consider submitting patches teaching cargo (via the jobserver crate it uses) to use the new jobserver support from the latest GNU make, which opens FIFO paths rather than relying on inheriting file descriptors. That means you can allow *any* program that uses the FIFOs, and not worry about which programs understand the jobserver.
