From the outset of this conflict, many politicians and news sources began spewing vile antisemitic misinformation and propaganda in support of these acts of murder. So, to keep up to date on what’s actually happening, follow news sources within Israel, such as the following:
Many communities around the world are planning to hold rallies in support of Israel. Check with your local Jewish community or your local branch of the Jewish Federation to see what’s going on near you.
Additionally, consider sharing news stories and updates with your family and friends on social media.
For those with the financial means to do so, there are many organizations set up to render aid to those in need within Israel. Here are a few worthy causes:
As Noahides, we are free to pray in any manner we desire, in our own words. However, in times of distress such as this, it is helpful to have prayers written by others which can give voice to our concerns more eloquently than we might be able to from the heart.
To that end, below are two traditional Jewish prayers that are helpful in times such as these.
This is perfect for those preferring a simple, short prayer, which can be quickly learned and recited in both English and Hebrew. There is even a traditional song you can learn in order to sing it.
עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאִמְרוּ: אָמֵן
He who makes peace in His heights, may He make peace upon us, and upon all Israel. And, let us say: Amen.

Another alternative is the Prayer for the Welfare of the State of Israel, which is recited in many synagogues around the world. Here is the text from the Artscroll Siddur (posted here without permission, and slightly altered for use by Noahides):
Our Father in heaven, Protector and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first flowering of Israel’s redemption. Shield her beneath the wings of Your kindness, and spread over her Your canopy of peace. Send Your light and truth to her leaders, officers and counselors, and direct them with Your good counsel. Strengthen the defenders of Israel’s Holy Land; grant them salvation; crown them with victory. Establish peace in the land and everlasting joy for its inhabitants.
Remember our brothers, the whole House of Israel, in all the lands of their dispersion. Speedily bring them to Zion, Your city, to Jerusalem, Your dwelling place, as it is written in the Torah of Moses, Your servant: Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there Hashem, your God, will bring you to the land which your fathers occupied, and you shall occupy it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers. ]]>Here’s the answer I would really like to give:
I follow the religion of Judaism. Now, before you say, “Oh, so you’re Jewish,” let me clarify, further.
I am not Jewish. Unlike being “Christian” or “Muslim”, being “Jewish” means that you are part of an ethnic people – the nation of Israel. I am not part of this ethnic people. You can trace my family back to the dawn of time, and you will find no Jewish ancestors. Nor am I converting to Judaism, which means joining the nation of Israel, and I have no plan or desire to ever do so.
However, a person can follow the religion of Judaism without joining the nation of Israel. In this regard, Judaism is unlike any other religion – it is truly a universal religion, which includes all of humanity, regardless of race, sex, skin color, nationality, ethnicity, or culture. To follow the Jewish religion, a person does not have to become an Israelite/Jew and give up their ethnicity or culture. Rather, one must simply follow the Torah as it applies to gentiles (ie. non-Jews). One who does so is called a Noahide or Ben Noah (literally “Child of Noah”).
The Torah, which is the foundation of the Jewish religion and the Jewish people, is a set of instructions that were given to the first human being (Adam), expounded upon to the Biblical figure Noah after the flood, and finalized to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai, some 3000 years ago. These instructions (the literal definition of “Torah”) define humanity’s purpose in the universe, and outline the specific details of how we are to go about accomplishing this purpose.
The Jewish people were set aside by God, at Mount Sinai, as mankind’s priesthood which would protect and safeguard this Torah through the ages, so that the rest of humanity would have the opportunity to learn our purpose in the universe. If this had not been done, God’s instructions would have been lost to history. This is what is meant by the oft misunderstood statement that the Jews are the “chosen” people – they were “chosen” to be the guardians of God’s Torah, while the rest of mankind are the “lay people”.
As a Noahide (aka “Ben Noah”, or “Righteous Non-Jew”), I live my life according to the Torah as it applies to someone who is not Jewish. This means that I am obligated to keep the “Sheva Mitzvot” (ie. the “Seven Laws of Noah”), which are:
These Seven Laws are, more accurately, seven categories which contain many specific details. For example, the injunction not to steal includes injunctions regarding fraud, fair wages, the concept of giving charity to the poor, contract law, and many other details.
The Seven Laws are, essentially, a set of moral instructions for living one’s life, and a blueprint for creating a just and peaceful society. They can be fit into any ethnic or cultural framework without requiring that framework to be significantly altered (with the exception of immoral attributes of that framework – for example, if murder is a huge part of everyday life in your society, you’d have to change that). In this way, anyone can follow the religion of Judaism, without having to change their cultural and ethnic identity in any way. And, the more people observe these seven precepts, the more just and peaceful their society becomes.
Because of the Jewish people’s special mission, as the priesthood of humanity and guardians of the Torah, they have many additional responsibilities beyond the Seven Laws of Noah (such as eating only kosher food, resting on the Sabbath, wearing tefillin, etc.). However, I am not obligated to keep any of these additional laws, because I am not part of that priesthood.
Rather, my duty as a Noahide is to keep my Seven Laws. Doing so will make my little slice of the world (ie. my family, my workplace, my city, my nation, etc.) a more enlightened, just, and Godly place.
So, in a nutshell, I’m a Noahide. I follow the religion of Judaism as it applies to me, as a non-Jew.
Of course, most people don’t have the patience or desire to sit and listen to such an explanation, so I’ll probably just continue to tell them, “That’s a difficult question.” But, maybe now I can point them to this article, too.

]]>Try to go through all our holy books in the course of your lifetime, so that you will have visited every place in the Torah. Wealthy people constantly travel from place to place, spending enormous sums in order to be able to boast about where they have been.
In the same way, in this life you should visit all the holy places in the Torah. Then in your future life you will be able to take pride in having visited every place in our holy literature. For in the world to come you will remember everything you have ever learned.
You may already be familiar with the tradition of reading the weekly Torah Portion, but did you know there are traditional opportunities to regularly read other parts of the TaNaKh (i.e. the Hebrew Bible), such as the Nevi’im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings)?[1]
One way is to read the traditional selections for the major Jewish holidays, per the chart below. These are read and studied on the respective holiday and, even if you don’t celebrate the holiday, they offer an opportunity to learn the authentic Jewish teachings of these verses in great depth. However, this does not include the entire ‘NaKh since only selections related to the holiday are read. Still, it is a great start!
Another way is to systematically read through every book in ‘NaKh – Nevi’im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings) – following a regimen called a “Nach Yomi” (aka Daily ‘NaKh) such as Azamra’s Know Your Bible 1-year reading cycle or the Orthodox Union’s Torat Imecha Nach Yomi which is a 2-year reading cycle. Both organizations offer great resources, commentary and background information on each chapter from authentic Jewish tradition.
The best way is whichever pace best suits your schedule and learning-style. If you miss a holiday or a chunk of NaKh Yomi, they are structured so it’s easy to just jump right back in, mid-cycle. The idea, as Rebbe Nachman expressed, is to steadily learn and grow in your understanding of God’s Torah, throughout your lifetime.

“Praise the Lord, all you nations; laud Him all you peoples. For His mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the Lord endures forever.”

According to Jewish tradition, a person isn’t required to convert and become part of the Jewish people in order to follow the God of Israel. Rather, they are free to remain non-Jews (aka “gentiles”), and be part of their original peoples and nations, while still serving God and being fully a part of the religion of Judaism.
Such people are referred to as “God-fearers”, “B’nei Noach” (ie. “Children of Noah”, in Hebrew), or “Noahides”. As we see in Tehillim (Psalms):
“The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron; He will bless the God-fearers; both small and great.”

The path of serving God as a Noahide is similar, in many ways, to the path of serving Him as a Jew. But, while it contains the same ethical and moral principles required of the Jewish people, it omits the uniquely Jewish expressions of faith (ie. ritual observances), such as wearing Tefillin, keeping the Sabbath, and eating only Kosher foods. Thus, it allows Noahides to fully participate in their own cultures, and be a part of their own nations and peoples, while serving God.
These ethical and moral principles required of Noahides are referred to as the “Sheva Mitzvot”, the “Seven Laws of Noach”, or the “Noahide Laws”. So named, because they were first fully codified when commanded to the biblical Noah, after the great flood.

While seemingly simple on their surface, there is much complexity to each of these laws. As is often said of Chess, the rules are simple to understand, but take a lifetime to master.
These Seven Laws span the gamut of human experience, defining the proper relationship between a person and God, between a person and his fellow human beings, between a person and nature, and between a person and himself.
Ultimately, when humanity universally applies the Seven Laws, it will usher in an era of world peace, known in Judaism as the Messianic Age. A time when, as Jewish tradition explains, there will be neither famine nor war, envy nor competition, for good will flow in abundance, and all delights will be freely available as dust, because as Isaiah 11:9 states, “The world will be filled with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the ocean bed.”
