Day 6, the final day of this yacht cruise! We came back 1 day early so as to allow time for prop repairs before the next scheduled charter.
Our diver in Gibsons could not quite get all the wood and rope out of the prop, so here we are. An adventure indeed!

Lawrence was out in the tender for a local sightseeing trip at sea level. Low and behold this mighty orca surfaced to see what was going on.

Up early to leave Gibsons this morning. Low tide has us navigating around Keats Island to reach the entrance to the open strait.
The crossing of the Salish Sea was in rough seas, so we followed a line to the northwest to meet the choppy waves head on.
This sailor was feeling pretty wobbly below decks so came up to keep an eye on the horizon to level things out.
We stopped for a snack on board near Mudge Island, then proceeded south, mooring in Kulleet Bay around 2:00 PM.

We got some cruising ahead of us to reach Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.
While cruising down Welcome Passage we seem to have picked up some debris, so stopped motoring on the starboard side diesel. We got into Gibsons port Ok!
It turns out we picked up some rope and that got tangled in the prop. We hired a diver in Gibsons to help us untangle that mess!

Wow we had a rough night with the mosquitoes up here. They just hanging out in the Channel, waiting for humans to feed on.
Feeling a little groggy in the morning as a result. We’re plotting a course over to the Sechelt peninsula today, with a stop for fuel and supplies at Pender Harbour.

Day begins in Boat Harbour, just south of Nanaimo. A well-documented anchorage in the literature we have on board.
We’re heading north across the Salish Sea, heading for Lasqueti Island moorage, somewhere!

Through yacht charter operator Island Cruising, we booked the Melissa Ruth for a 7-day cruise in the Salish Sea.
Where we’re going is constrained by the 7 days we have in hand, and the weather on offer during this part of mid-August. We’ll see! Heading out of Deep Cove this morning, under nice skies, and glassy water.
