If you’re just stumbling on this page, The Adventures of Blisterfish is a webcomic by Kay Jay. They drew Chapters 1, 2, and 3 between 2021 and their tragic passing in 2022. I’m Graham (a friend of theirs who also draws comics) — I drew Chapter 4 from Kay’s thumbnails. The comic is now on indefinite hiatus, but I’d still recommend reading from the beginning if you’re a fan of stories about magical teens.
 
To everyone who read and commented while I was posting Chapters 3 and 4, thank you! Today is the three-year anniversary of Kay’s death. I think they would be so happy to see how we have honored and remembered them.
 
The print version of Blisterfish #4 will be arriving in a week or so! This concludes Chapter Four, and likely my run on Adventures of Blisterfish, to use floppy comics parlance.

Print versions of this chapter are on the way at time of writing, and likely already in hand by the time you’re reading this, so please comment or email me if you’d like a copy! They will be the same format and size as the previous chapters Kay printed.

As I mentioned a few months ago, this is where I am leaving the comic for now. If you knew Kay and want to take it over for a bit, please reach out! I can send you their thumbnails and notes for chapter 5. I think it would be fun to continue it with rotating artists. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the capacity to be the sole artist going forward.

I remember when we were in middle school, Kay told me about a Terry Pratchett book they loved where at the end, the heroine defeats the antagonist not through the power of love, but through being righteously quite angry. I can’t help but imagine that character influenced Blisterfish a bit.
