Let’s admit it, (if we don’t admit it to other’s we can at least admit it to ourselves), Cleaning is a chore, and some of us hate doing it! It is necessary and so we get it done but do we like it No!
For those who love to clean good on you. I don’t like it and like many, if I could afford a cleaner to come in on a regular basis and rid me of the need to clean and the stress, I would do it in a heartbeat, (recommendations accepted).
On the other hand even the filthiest slob, likes to see a nice clean, orderly and fresh smelling environment where things are idyllic. Everything in place and a place for everything. No clutter, clean.
In today’s world most of us are very busy running around from place to place, there’s work, relationships, studying, children and of course an evening out with the lads having a pint or an afternoon with the girls putting the world to rights. You may love your home and love being in it but to many, any one of the above listed and many more (that I am sure could be added to the list would be preferable to cleaning). I salute those of you who love to clean, adore the smell of bleach, don’t mind your skin stripping from the slew of commercially available products and those who put on your apron and domestic cleaning gloves with pride. Let the cleaning brigade have their moment, but that doesn’t apply to many, many of us.
Yes! we want a clean homely environment, but sometimes things get out of hand that basin in the bathroom that you were supposed to clean, just didn’t get done and days (dare I say it weeks) have passed and it still hasn’t been done. Sure it embarrasses you but that’s only in the morning and last thing at night when you have to brush your teeth. Yes the dishes haven’t been done for ages and you will get to it once you need a clean plate and you realise you have run out of clean plates. You’ll make a mad dash for the sink and get it done super quick when that new person you are trying to attract and impress comes over. It will be done in a jiffy if your mum is making that once in a while visit. or you simply close the door on the problem and pretend that those dirty dishes pots and pans you hate to clean just aren’t there!
If you do want to tackle the problem without much stress, where do you start? Let me help you!
Decide which rooms you would like to clean and in what order:
This order can be changed around to suit you, really you are deciding which area you will tackle first and which area you will leave till last. Don’t forget you don’t have to do it all at the same time. Yes I heard that sigh of relief.
Decide how much time you want to spend cleaning at any one time, you might decide to do half of the cleaning and finish the rest in a couple of days I find it easier to clean each area for around 20 minutes. You will be very surprised how much you can get done in 20 minutes and the general maintenance is easy too, I assure you.
In the Kitchen:
Put away the pots pans, plates, knives forks and glasses, that have been getting on your nerves for ages, out of sight out of mind. Put them in their place, their home.
Next I separate glasses, cutlery, plates, and pots, I make sure that everything is empty, I don’t want to block the sink. Then I run warm water over items such as the plates and soak the pots so that I can wash them and not use baked-on food as an excuse to leave them for yet another time.
I clean all surfaces in the kitchen. The solution below can be used to clean the work surfaces, cupboard shelves and doors in your kitchen. Don’t forget the cooker top! Use the same solution to wipe down your cooker top, spray, leave for a few minutes and then wipe down, you may have to do this a couple of times.
Make sure there is nothing in the fridge that is out of date, spilled or worse rotting.
Use a mixture of vinegar and water or Lemon juice and water to spray into the fridge and onto stubborn stains or dried food particles.
Clean the fridge with soapy water, alternatively you can use a couple of tablespoons of baking Soda and about 8oz (225ml) of hot water, mix the two ingredients together and use to thoroughly clean the inside of your fridge.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry with a dishcloth or kitchen towel this will leave your fridge looking clean, neat and smelling fresh.
I choose to wash cups and glasses first and then move on to cutlery, followed by glassware such as bowls and trays, then
plates and then pots, pans, and frying pans.
I like to rinse and then leave things to naturally dry before putting them away.
Lastly, I like to clean the kitchen floor with a mop and a bucket, if there are some stubborn areas, I like to go the old fashion way on my hands and knees to ensure the areas are covered. Using soapy hot water is usually all that is needed and some Lemon juice for a fresh scent. There is a whole range of commercially available cleaning products that you may want to try or use, feel free.
That’s it the jobs a good’un your kitchen has been tamed and is no longer a source of embarrassment.
The next article will tell you how to tackle another area of your home, one thing at a time eh!

]]>Spring cleaning can be a big task for some those who are not motivated or interested in cleaning their home, you can get a cleaner/ cleaning company to take away the stress of doing a major clean, or you can take up the challenge your self and commit to getting out the vacuum and duster, below there are a few tips that will get you started and on your way to planning and executing your spring clean.
Owning the right cleaning tools is essential for doing your best cleaning. Take stock of what you have and replace things that are tired and worn. Here are the staples I like to have on hand:
Tough scrubbing sponges Rubber gloves An old toothbrush Microfiber cleaning cloths Large bucket Scrub brush Paper towels Rags (old towels and washcloths, as well as old t-shirts) Mop Vacuum cleaner Broom and dustpan Plastic tote to store cleaning tools All-purpose cleaner Window cleaner Baking soda in a shaker

Unscrew light bulbs and polish the bulbs with a microfiber cloth dampened with water (avoid wetting the metal screw base). Clean the bulbs in recessed ceiling fixtures with a telescoping lamb’s wool duster.
Once or twice a year, wipe wooden blinds with a few drops of gentle wood cleaner on a nearly dry sponge. Aluminum blinds can be washed outdoors: Place them on an old sheet on a slanted surface, and scrub with water and a noncorrosive cleaner. Use a hose to rinse well, and then dry the blinds thoroughly with a towel to prevent rust.

To maintain a new carpet’s warranty, you may need to have it cleaned professionally every 12-18 months, Smallin says. Otherwise, you can do it yourself by renting a deep cleaner or buying a professional-style model designed for home use.
Grab a partner and move your sofa and chairs, roll up area rugs, then vacuum the floors. Move your kitchen appliances away from the wall as much as you can. “In some cases you can pull them out enough that a vacuum hose will reach,” Smallin says

You may overlook these surfaces on a daily basis, but once a year, give your baseboards, door frames, and walls a good scrub-down. Wash them with a sponge and a squirt of dish washing liquid mixed in a bucket of warm water.
Restore smooth leather with an upholstery cleaner and conditioner. Use a suede brush to perk up nubuck leather. For wood furniture, use Smallin’s recipe to make your own all-natural cleaner and polish: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and 1/2 cup of vinegar or lemon juice in a plastic spray bottle; shake well and spray onto a microfiber cloth.
Curtains and draperies aren’t typically dirty enough to launder. Instead, go over them thoroughly with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum. “To remove dust from sheer curtains, put them in the dryer on low with a fabric-softener sheet,” Smallin says.
Use a microfiber or lint-free cloth to dust fixtures and bulbs you can reach. For ceiling fans, skip the ladder and use an extendable duster. To clean grimy bulbs, lightly dampen your cloth with vinegar. Caution: Be sure bulbs are cool to the touch and your hands are dry, for more cleaning guides from Better Homes and gardening.

Cleaning can be challenging task on a good day but every person should have a system that they work to when cleaning, you first need to have a clear head and clutter free environment can help if you have a decluttering system that makes your life a lot easier, below are some idea that help you.
The first thing you should learn is to love the idea of uncluttered look. Having in mind the idea of what the place would look like after you declutter it, would mean an additional motivation, of course aside from the pressure from your parents or roommate perhaps. Having an end goal in mind would speed up the process, and it will also keep you from muddling the place once more.
In filing things, you should have a filing system of your own. There are some ideas about it, but it would ultimately zero in on how you deal with your own stuff. As part of your filing system, you should learn to decide as quickly as possible, what to throw and what to keep. Knowing this would also speed up the process and hopefully clear out a chunk of useless files and stuff.
Decluttering a place is not a one woman effort, you should also encourage your kids and other people living in your house to do the same. If they cannot really participate in the process, at least let them lessen the workload by not adding more clutter each day.

Some great advise and ideas from RealtyToday continue reading some more tips that can assist your cleaning strategy:
Do not set aside an ENTIRE day to organize your WHOLE house. Very few people have the energy and/or focus to spend 8 hours organizing. You’ll likely become frustrated and less efficient as the day progresses. It’s much better to spend a few hours — 2 or 3 — on one project or space. This way you’ll feel motivated to do more, not burned out by the process.
Completely. Of course you will need to sort things into categories (e.g., toss, recycle, donate, give to friend, put in deep storage). But here’s the crucial part: Once you have decided where something is going to go — take it there. Never keep bags for charity or boxes for friends in your home to deliver later. Do it now. Finish the process. Take the bags and boxes out to the trash or recycling immediately. If you’re donating something or giving something to a friend or family member, put the items in your car or make arrangements for dropping them off. You’ve done so much work getting this stuff ready to take out, complete the deal! → Pro Tip: 10 Habits of a Highly Organized Person
Do not think that once you’ve organized your space, that you are done. You’ll feel like a failure when you have to clean it up again in a month. Realize that while you have created a new, efficient, and logical system for processing and managing incoming and outgoing items, you are not done. There is no autopilot. You should expect regular upkeep, but just be glad that the new system is far more efficient than the old one.
Very few people have closets and drawers that resemble those in catalogues. Trust me. I’ve been in a lot of houses and apartments and even after we’ve totally reorganized a space, it doesn’t look like an ad for The Container Store. It looks great and works properly, but it is a space that is used by an actual human being, not one that has been carefully staged by a team of stylists and marketers for a non-existent resident. You will ultimately be disappointed if perfection is your goal. The goal is to set up a space that works well for your needs. That is success. Tips from apartment therapy
Having the right frame of mind and attitude to cleaning is the first start to making the task easier and effortless, you must have a cleaning system, decluttering strategy and above there are a few ideas to add to your technique.
After you have finished your decluttering, you will need to maintain this and you may need some support and help to clean, you will need to find a experienced cleaner to take away the stress and strain, treat yourself and employ a Trusted reliable cleaner.

]]>The post Housekeeping Services appeared first on Cleaning Services Domestic & Residential.
]]>Housekeeping requires many more hours of organisation and involvement than general cleaning, housekeepers are expected to do many more domestic tasks within the home. Laundry, ironing, cooking, cleaning, dusting, bed-making, school runs, errands and even paying bills if they are trusted by their employer. In short some housekeepers take over the running of the home and can do as much or even more of the domestic side and the management of the home. In reality it’s reallyas if the home they have been employed to manage is actually theirs. As housekeepers work long hours most of the time they will actually live within the premises that they work in, this is called ‘living in’.
No longer is cleaning seen as an oppressive chore that women did out of duty or expectation, indeed many women hire housekeepers simply because they themselves dislike the thought or time spent cleaning and doing household chores or cleaning.
There are many reasons why a housekeeper might be employed: Separation within a relationship, illness and bereavements are usually the main reasons that a housekeeper might be needed to help facilitate the running of the home without much interruption to work, business, or the routines of children. Occasions where housekeepers are employed to manage the household of someone who is just too busy to see to such thing, this can be the CEO of a company or someone who is struggling to cope after a break up or someone who simply doesn’t like to clean but can afford to hire someone to do it for them.
The position of a housekeeper comes with much responsibility and their employer can become quite reliant on the services provided by a housekeeper, this can in turn put the housekeeper in a trusted position and discretion is always required.
As mentioned before a Housekeeper’s duties will include the cleaning plus much more, dusting tidying up and general cleaning will be included in the list of things they are expected to do. Do remember that the post of a housekeeper can be filled by a man just as easily as it can be filled by a woman. In the past this role was mainly filled by women but this has not been the case for some time and indeed men are as capable as women of fulfilling the role and position of a housekeeper.
The elderly are very vulnerable and sometimes can be prone to illness and falls. The sudden loss of a partner or loved one can be a contributing factor as to the reason for wanting to hire/employ a Cleaner or a Housekeeper. A recent fall might mean that you/they are unable to be as active. It is important to give your body time to heal. A Housekeeper will mean that the burden and stress of Housekeeping and chores are carried out by professionals who not only care but also take great pride in making sure that their job is done to the best of their ability. All aspects of this service can be requested and our team can be on hand to “lighten your load”.
If you want someone to shop, run errands clean, provide meals or if you just need a general cleaner ‘2 Squeaky Clean’ is here to provide a service specially tailored to your needs and requirements.
Each member of our team is responsible caring and efficient, we pride ourselves on being the best that we can be. Before joining the team candidates are vetted, interviewed and CRB checked. When hiring a member of our team we can guarantee security, discretion and complete peace of mind.
You have decided whether you need a Cleaner or Housekeeper and you have thought about how often you need the service, you even know exactly what is required of our team member. When you have spoken to us and your instructions have been taken an invoice will be prepared; this will include your requirements, the hours specified the rate per hour and the total. The team member who will carry out the job will be assigned. At the end of the job the team member is to be paid unless you have already made alternative arrangements with ‘2 Squeaky Clean’.

]]>Cleaning of the home and personal hygiene have long been a very important part of how you are seen, perceived and in many cases treated. For instance most of us are very fussy where and who we will allow to prepare our food, if the person is dirty, un-kept, has unclean hands, unhygienic habits the chances are most of us are unlikely to accept food prepared by such a person. If areas where we are to consume food is unsanitary and dirty, let’s be honest would you eat there? Notice how often fast food venues wipe down and clean eating areas. When such areas are not kept clear and clean the flow of business and customer traffic is much reduced meaning that less people will use the area and even less will patronise or buy from such a place.
There are many reasons why it is vital to keep eating areas clean, clear and hygienic, both in the home, in private and in public places. Health is the top reason for keeping these factors in mind;unclean conditions can produce bad odours and be rather unsightly. Gone are the days when your butcher was also your dentistand we are disgusted by the thought that people used to throw their human waste out of their windows of a morning. With all the modern amenities that are now available to us gone are the days when one would boast about having a bath once a year.
There are however still those who will use sweet scents to mask the stench of filth and decay. Be thankful that your butcher is not your dentist and your baker isn’t also your barber.
Keeping the home clean has for some time been an important factor of modern day living; especially if you entertain regularly or as many people do nowadays, use the home to run a business. There are now many codes and regulations to regulate environments where food is prepared and/or served. As well as Health and Hygiene considerations such as bacteria, cross contamination and spoiling agents there are also Safety considerations and once again these must be taken into consideration when dealing with the public or when taking your service into a private, personal or public domain.
As so many people now realise and understand the benefits of being in a clean and orderly environment there has grown up a very large number of companies, methods, facilities and services all aimed at helping you to keep yourself, and your environment clean safe, orderly and well maintained.
A Cleaner can be hired according to requirements, whether daily, weekly, monthly or simply when needed. Their job can be carried out in the home, offices, industrial kitchens, commercial premises and a number of other public and private places. Most cleaners will provide a number of services or specialise in a particular area such as Window cleaning, industrial kitchens, or just private residences, they will carry out their work at an agreed time and date or during a specific time period, and the aim is to clean specific areas. Dusting, general cleaning, vacuuming, deep cleaning, bed making are among the tasks of a cleaner. The specifics are best agreed beforehand between 2 Squeaky Clean and the customer.
Cleaning was once seen as a lowly occupation and only the uneducated or the destitute would resort to a job which included cleaning. Many women used cleaning as an honest way to sustain their families and enable them to pay bills and buy clothes and food. For some of these women cleaning was all they knew how to do and raising a family meant they did it often and well.
There has been a remarkable shift in not only attitudes but also in mentality. Over a number of years, a very long period of time and in so many differing ways, cleaning and housekeeping jobs are no longer gender specific. The lack of respect that used to come across someone’s face when they were in the presence of a cleaner could not be disguised, things are different now. Indeed cleaners, housekeepers, and chambermaids have been able to carve out a respectable place within society, they are no longer frowned upon and increasing numbers of the general public are now able to afford to hire someone to do tasks that they don’t like to do or have no time to do. No longer is a cleaner or a housekeeper the expectant requirement of the wealthy or ‘’well to do’’
If chores and cleaning are not done regularly, surfaces are left cluttered; dirty and un-sanitised, litter if not disposed of regularly can attract vermin such as rat and foxes. Areas that are used regularly, such as the bathroom, toilet, shower and kitchen can become filthy and quickly fall into a serious state of uncleanliness that will harbour germs and bacteria and can be quite detrimental to health as well as proving very harmful especially to the young, old and those with breathing, chest and health problems such as allergies or Asthma. Dust lingers in the air, on materials, clothing and surfaces it is important to keep dust particles to a minimum. This can be done by changing your clothes and bedding regularly, vacuuming and dusting as often as is needed.
Dust, dirt and scum can accumulate very quickly especially if it is not keptto a controllable level. There are many specific cleaning tools, products and aids that are presently on the market to aid with keeping our environment safe and clean. Carpets, upholstery and bedding that repel or stop the breeding of dust mites, cloths that hold large amounts of liquids, bleaches, streak free cleaners, disposable paper, disposable cloths, bin bags with handles, floors that require minimal care, steam mops, polishes, sprays, waxes, mops, brooms, hoovers, disinfectants and a whole host of products. Individually our excuses are taken away; you will find that doing small amounts of cleaning regularly will help you to keep on top of things and in control of your environment.
A clean home is now most times necessary for entertaining, be it for career purposes or for social reasons. There is presently a recent and prevailing concept that ‘a functional and uncluttered mind goes hand in hand with a clean and uncluttered home’. ‘A place for everything and everything in its place’ can be difficult to stick to if you are busy, running around or you’re simply a parent with a career, job or a busy social calendar.
Where you live is a space that is personal to you, how you choose to live is your choice, however consider the points above and you can decide if your surroundings are acceptable to you or if there is something that you could easily do to improve the cleanliness of your living, eating and sleeping space, maybe it’s time for you to hire 2 Squeaky Clean to do it for you, leaving you with time and freedom to do whatever you want to do.
