Apparently the reaction to PureArts’ Bryan Fury statue wasn’t what the company had hoped it’d be. If you didn’t know, the character, a fan favorite from the Tekken series, is the subject of the collectible company’s latest quarter-scale piece.

Clocking in at 21″ tall, Fury will be limited to just 750 pieces globally. With that scale, he’s going to be pretty impressive, and should make for a nice centerpiece in any Tekken fan’s collection.

And if you were in that lot that wasn’t crazy about his face sculpt, he’ll be sporting a new look that fans seem to be responding to. PureArts says it’s “received a lot of positive reactions to this update”. And so to give fans who’ve changed their minds about it a little more time, the pre-order window has been extended.

If you’d like to buy-in, you can now order one of these bad-boys though February 17th, 2022. Of course, he’s not scheduled to ship til a little while after that, in quarter 3 of this year.

Nox Nox

It’s not exactly a hug ‘new games’ week on the Switch, though there are a few highlights. Maybe the biggest is simply a new fighter for Super Smash Bros though, as Tekken’s Kazuya arrives.

One of that fighting game series’ biggest antagonists, Kazuya was revealed just this past June at E3. Now he’s here for Smash, and officially a part of Character Pack 10, which also includes a new level and musical accompaniment. That’s all Tekken-focused as well, for those wondering.

Past Kaz, there’s also Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The JRPG is quite some time in the making, and should hit the spot for fans of eastern-flavored role-playing titles. And then there’s also… uh, actually forget that. There ain’t much else that’s worth talking about.

Styx and Tekken 5

Starting on January 1, Xbox Gold Members will be able to download Styx: Shard of Darkenss from Focus Home Interactive. In the second adventure with Styx, the green goblin is back to making trouble and stealing stuff. The staff at BG reviewed Styx and it received an 86 out of 100. Not bad for the little green guy. This game is definitely worth checking out.

From the Xbox 360 library comes Tekken 5. Who doesn’t like a good Tekken game? Jump back into the ring and duke it out with the likes of King, Yoshimitsu, and of course Kazuya and Jin. Do you have what it takes to win?

Batman And LEGO Star Wars

Starting on January 16, Xbox Gold Members will be able to download Batman: The Telltale Series. The famous point-and-click adventure styling, Telltale Games, made a game about Batman a few years ago. How can a point-and click-adventure capture the action of Batman? Find out on January 16.

FIGHT

There are basically two lines of kick-ass fighting game figures right now. One is Figuarts, which has produced some really excellent Street Fighter characters, both from SFV and SFII. The other? Well it’s actually a set of lines from Storm Collectibles. They all look a little different, but display just fine right alongside each other.

I have a few of these bad boys, in both the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat series’ and they’re flat-out great. Each one comes with a number of interchangeable parts, and snap-on special effects to mimic their special moves form the games.

They’re none too cheap, but you get what you pay for. And there isn’t anything else out there that offers all of these classic characters in one place. Though Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat figures are available now, there’s a lot more coming.

That includes more from those games, and from the likes of SNK’s King of Fighters and Bandai Namco’s Tekken.

The new characters come from all different generations of Pokemon: Garchomp, from the fourth generation, Braixen, from the sixth generation, Mewtwo, the famed clone is joining the group from the first generation, and revealed early this morning, Chandelure, the fifth generation fire/ghost type that is shaped like a chandelier.

The inclusion of Chandelure is another example of what appears to be a traditional fighting game including characters that don’t fit molds set forth by genre pillars such as Tekken.

The new group joins a cast already featuring Charizard, Pikachu, Weavile, Lucario, and others. The game is scheduled for a Mar. 18 release, and it is likely that even more characters will appear before the game’s final console release.

Well, even if the thought never crossed your mind for a Tekken/Galaga crossover, Bandai Namco has you covered with this new special edition of the classic shooter. And seeing as it’s free, there’s really no reason not to play no wis there?

“TEKKEN is one of our longest running franchises and has enjoyed a strong fan following for two decades,” said Katsuhiro Harada, Game Director and Chief Producer of the TEKKEN series at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. “With Galaga: TEKKEN 20^TH Anniversary Edition, we wanted to give our fans something unexpected to celebrate such a huge milestone for TEKKEN. The crossover gameplay is sure to surprise and delight both TEKKEN and Galaga fans.”

Actually really neat looking, the new Galaga title has Tekken characters in the place of the spaceships used to fight off the alien invaders. You can even use the fighting game’s ‘tag’ feature here to tag in another character as an additional spaceship and double up on your damage. and on top of all that classic Tekken fun, the games special attacks will figure in other Bandai Namco properties as a nifty little surprise for fans.

Galaga: TEKKEN 20^TH Anniversary Edition is available right now as a free download for both iOS and Android devices.

It looks like fight fans who’ve missed out on or traded in some of the best fighting games of last generation are in for a treat that should save some space on the old gaming shelf. Bandai Namco is bundling together three of their top tier fighting titles in one neat little package with Tekken 6, Soul Calibur V, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 becoming roommates in the bundle.

The game(s) will be arriving next week on retail shelves, which sneaks it in just before the Christmas holiday. Website MCV uncovered the listing and has pursued the publisher about pricing, presumably, since all three games in the set are pretty old there should be a decent tag associated with this one, but we’ll keep you posted. Also worth a note, we did some digging into US store websites and found no listing for any such pack, so this one might be limited to a UK release.

This game is being developed by both The Pokemon Company and Namco Bandai; Nintendo’s collaborations with Namco has been outstanding of late. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition was apparently just the tip of the iceberg, we’re getting a smörgåsbord of games here. With Super Smash Bros 4 fast on its way, and this new title in the pipeline, one can only imagine what else is in store for us in the future. It’s nice to see Nintendo making good on their promise to collaborate more with third parties, as it’s giving fans a healthy dose of quality so far. Moves like allowing Pac-Man in Smash are opening up the floodgates for future content.

From what we can see in the trailer, the game appears to play like Tekken, the popular limb based fighting game developed by Namco Bandai. Granted this isn’t the final product, as they stress in the trailer, but it’s pretty obvious to anyone that this game will function quite like it. Two question remains though, and that would be whether this title will eventually hit western shores, and show up on the Wii U. Unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed; while the possibility is rather high, we have seen arcade games in the past that didn’t get released outside of Japan. A few examples would be Rhythm Heaven Tengoku and Pokemon Battrio. Of course, the big difference is that this is a pretty important title, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have never done anything like this before with their franchise.

It would certainly feel like a huge opportunity has been missed if it remained in the East; and unlike Mario Kart GP, there are no alternatives to play on consoles. So to put it simply, the probability of this software never reaching the west and being ported to the Wii U is remote, just remember that the potential still exists.
