Sinner announced his withdrawal on Friday, saying additional recovery time was needed despite working closely with his team and medical staff. The Italian star entered the season as one of the biggest favorites for the hard-court major after an outstanding run of results.
The 2026 season has been another dominant campaign for Sinner, who owns a 44-3 record and has captured six major titles at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome and Wimbledon.
“Even though I have been working hard with my team and my medical staff, we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year. We have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue,” Sinner posted on Instagram on Friday.
The Italian has built a strong connection with US Open fans in recent years. After winning his first title at Flushing Meadows in 2024, Sinner reached the 2025 final before losing to Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner said missing the tournament was especially difficult because of his relationship with the New York crowd and his excitement about returning to the venue.
“I’m obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart. I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there,” he said.
The withdrawal ends Sinner’s hopes of continuing his impressive run at the hard-court Grand Slam. His absence also creates a major shift in the men’s singles draw, removing one of the tournament’s biggest contenders.
Sinner’s exit opens the door for several top players, including Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz confirmed he would compete at the US Open shortly before Sinner’s announcement. The defending champion will now have a clearer path toward another deep run after returning from a wrist injury.
Before Zverev won the Roland Garros title in June, Alcaraz and Sinner had dominated men’s tennis, combining to win the previous nine Grand Slam championships. Alcaraz claimed five of those major trophies.
Zverev will also see a renewed opportunity in New York. The German came close to winning the US Open title in 2020, when he lost the final to Dominic Thiem after holding a significant lead.
Sinner’s withdrawal could also improve the chances of American players hoping to end a long drought in men’s Grand Slam singles.
The United States has not produced a men’s major singles champion since 2003, but players such as Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz now have an opportunity to make a historic run.
Shelton enters the tournament with confidence after winning the Montreal title, while Fritz will look to build on his 2024 US Open runner-up finish, where he lost the final to Sinner.
Other contenders, including Felix Auger-Aliassime and Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli, will also aim to take advantage of a more open draw.
With Sinner absent, the 2026 US Open is expected to feature a wide-open battle among established champions and emerging stars looking for a breakthrough.
]]>Barcelona are intensifying their efforts to sign Lautaro Martinez as the club continues its search for a new attacking option before the transfer window closes, according to reports from Spain.
The Catalan side had previously been linked with Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, but recent reports suggest their priority has moved toward the Inter Milan captain.
Italian reports indicate that Inter Milan are not planning to sell their Argentine striker this summer. However, the situation appears less certain in Spain, where Barcelona’s interest is being described as increasingly serious.
El Chiringuito journalist Jose Alvarez reported that Barcelona are making a strong push for Martinez and suggested negotiations could progress.
“Barça are going all out for Lautaro,” Alvarez said, adding that “Inter are expected to negotiate and the deal could be closed.”
He also explained that Barcelona are actively working on multiple fronts.
“There are other alternatives but right now they’re working flat out on Lautaro. Both with the player and his entourage (with several meetings) and with the club (first contacts).”
Reports claim Barcelona are preparing an initial offer for Lautaro Martinez that would not exceed €100m as they attempt to secure a new striker before the transfer deadline.
The Argentine forward has been connected with a possible move to Barcelona on several occasions in recent years. His profile, experience, and leadership qualities have continued to make him an attractive option for the Spanish club.
However, completing a deal could prove difficult. Martinez has previously expressed his willingness to remain at Inter Milan for the rest of his career, while the Italian club may be reluctant to lose their captain so late in the transfer window.
| Player | Current Club | Barcelona Interest |
|---|---|---|
| Lautaro Martinez | Inter Milan | Main striker target |
| Julian Alvarez | Manchester City | Previous attacking option considered |
| Robert Lewandowski | Barcelona | Current striker Barcelona aim to replace long-term |
Barcelona must now decide whether to increase their efforts for Martinez or move toward alternative targets if Inter Milan refuse to negotiate.
]]>Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding across Queens on Thursday, trapping vehicles, disrupting businesses, and renewing concerns over repeated stormwater problems in local neighborhoods.
Heavy rain overwhelmed parts of Queens on Thursday, leaving motorists stranded, flooding streets, and sending water into homes and businesses as neighborhoods struggled to handle the sudden downpour.
Traffic came to a standstill on the Long Island Expressway after large amounts of water collected on the roadway. Firefighters from the FDNY were seen checking beneath an overpass with lights, apparently looking for anyone who may have been trapped.
In Bayside Terrace, drivers navigated through flooded streets as cars and buses pushed through rising water. On 188th Street, the heavy rainfall created wave-like conditions, forcing passengers to push a vehicle that had become disabled after being flooded.
The flooding also affected businesses in Elmhurst, where store owners said the problem has become increasingly common during periods of heavy rain.
Lester Lin, who owns a business in the area, said flooding creates dangerous conditions for pedestrians and businesses whenever vehicles pass through standing water.
“And if they do, it’ll cause a little wave that’ll come up to the sidewalk and into the stores,” he said.
Across from Lin’s store on Broadway, sandbags were unable to fully block the water from entering a furniture business. An employee said the water level reached above ankle height inside the store.
“Up to your ankles at least, and manholes were open. Flooding from the local halal places,” Lin said.
Lin said the latest flooding was not an isolated event but part of a recurring issue whenever heavy rain hits the neighborhood.
He said several nearby businesses have experienced similar problems, including a martial arts studio that was forced to close early because of the conditions.
“Our neighbors … their gym always floods, then we go down to our local bakery, their basement floods,” Lin said. “Normally when we meet with [the Department of Environmental Protection], they tell us that nobody’s ever reported as a flood zone, but it makes sense because we are an immigrant neighborhood, and when we talk to our neighbors, they have no idea how to report those things.”
A representative from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection said the agency is planning to meet with local businesses to discuss flooding concerns. The department also conducted a tour of the affected area on Aug. 11.
In a statement, the DEP said it is working on improvements in areas vulnerable to flooding.
“DEP is investing in flood-prone neighborhoods … The agency is advancing a multi-layered approach to stormwater management – combining sewer upgrades with underground stormwater storage.”
The agency said the strategy is designed to collect and temporarily store rainwater before it overwhelms the sewer system.
The DEP representative also said New York City activated its flash flood plan Thursday evening and sent crews to clear and inspect catch basins throughout the city.
As extreme rainfall events become more frequent, Queens residents and business owners continue to call for long-term solutions to reduce repeated flooding impacts.
| Area | Reported Impact |
|---|---|
| Long Island Expressway | Vehicles stopped due to floodwater |
| Bayside Terrace | Cars and buses moved through flooded streets |
| 188th Street | Residents pushed a flooded vehicle |
| Elmhurst | Businesses experienced water entering stores |
| Citywide | DEP crews responded under flash flood plan |
The U.S. government’s record debt level is fueling concerns that higher borrowing costs, inflation risks, and budget pressures could eventually affect everyday Americans.
The United States’ national debt surpassed $40 trillion this week, marking a new milestone that has renewed debate over how the government’s growing borrowing could impact consumers, businesses, and the broader economy.
While Americans are not personally responsible for repaying the national debt, economists warn that rising federal obligations could influence future policy decisions, including potential tax increases, spending reductions, and changes to government programs.
The gross federal debt crossed the $40 trillion mark on Wednesday. This total includes money the federal government owes to itself, while economists often examine the approximately $32 trillion in debt held by the public when analyzing economic effects.
Federal borrowing is expected to continue increasing, with President Trump’s tax and spending legislation projected to add trillions of dollars to deficits over the coming decade. The administration has also requested additional funding worth tens of billions of dollars connected to the Iran war.
One major concern is that higher government debt could push borrowing costs higher for consumers and companies.
A recent report from the Conference Board, a nonprofit research organization, warned that increased national debt could place upward pressure on interest rates, potentially making mortgages, student loans, and small-business financing more expensive.
“If investors begin to view U.S. debt as riskier, interest rates could rise further, increasing borrowing costs for expansion, hiring, and investment,” the Conference Board report says.
Investors may demand higher returns on U.S. government bonds if they become less confident about the country’s financial position. Higher Treasury yields can then affect other areas of the economy.
Brett Loper, executive vice president for policy at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, explained that mortgage rates often follow movements in the 10-year Treasury note yield, which reflects the return investors expect when lending money to the federal government.
When Treasury yields increase, mortgage rates typically follow.
“If it is costing more and more for the government to borrow … it’s going to push up mortgage rates,” Loper says.
He added that increased government borrowing expenses could also influence auto loans, municipal bonds used for school construction projects, and other types of financing.
Beyond interest rates, economists also warn that large debt levels may create inflation risks.
Loper said investors could become concerned that policymakers may eventually turn to measures such as creating more money to manage federal obligations.
“You’re creating risks that we’re going to have to print more money or monetize the debt in some way, and those types of fears cause pressure on inflation,” Loper says.
As the national debt expands, the federal government must allocate more funds toward interest payments. That leaves fewer resources available for other priorities, including defense, infrastructure, and education.
According to Congressional Budget Office projections, the government is expected to spend more than $1 trillion on net interest payments in 2026. That amount would exceed spending on any mandatory program except Social Security and Medicare.
Washington has so far shown limited progress toward changing the nation’s long-term fiscal outlook, keeping disagreements over taxes and spending unresolved.
However, Loper said Americans are increasingly recognizing how national debt connects to their daily financial challenges, especially through higher mortgage rates.
“are starting to connect the dots” about how the national debt affects them, Loper says, particularly through high mortgage rates. This could influence voter decisions during future midterm elections, he says.
The Congressional Budget Office has said that making federal debt more sustainable will likely require a combination of slower spending growth and increased government revenue.
As debt continues to rise, the debate over America’s financial future is expected to remain a major issue for policymakers and voters.
| Issue | Possible Effect on Americans |
|---|---|
| Higher federal borrowing | Increased pressure on interest rates |
| Rising Treasury yields | More expensive mortgages and loans |
| Debt-related inflation concerns | Potential pressure on consumer prices |
| Larger interest payments | Less government funding available for other priorities |
| Fiscal uncertainty | Greater political debate over taxes and spending |

]]>Los Angeles responded with substantial changes around Justin Herbert. Mike McDaniel replaced Greg Roman as offensive coordinator, Chris O’Leary took control of the defense, and the roster added center Tyler Biadasz, tight end David Njoku and first-round edge rusher Akheem Mesidor.
The 2026 schedule provides an early opportunity to build momentum, but a difficult midseason run, four cross-country trips and two unresolved late-season division games could determine whether the Chargers finally advance in January.
The Chargers will play eight designated home games, nine road games and have their bye in Week 7. One road game requires no travel because the Chargers will face the Rams at SoFi Stadium as the visiting team.
The dates, kickoff times and television assignments for Weeks 17 and 18 have not been announced. Those details are marked TBD rather than estimated. All confirmed kickoff times below are listed in Eastern Time.

Los Angeles has the tied ninth-hardest schedule based on its opponents’ 2025 results. Those teams produced a combined 151-138 record and a .522 winning percentage. The Chargers will play eight games against teams that reached the previous postseason, evenly divided between home and road matchups.
A projection-based measurement produces a more moderate outlook. Sharp Football Analysis ranks Los Angeles 20th when schedules are ordered from easiest to hardest using current projected win totals. That translates to approximately the 13th-hardest projected slate rather than a top-10 gauntlet.
The difference illustrates the uncertainty surrounding schedule-strength calculations. Los Angeles faces Buffalo, Seattle, New England, Houston and the Rams, but it also draws Arizona, the Jets and rebuilding Miami. Much will depend on whether the AFC West improves around the Chargers.
The Chargers have three confirmed primetime appearances and no international game.
The first comes in Week 10 against Baltimore on Monday Night Football. The matchup features Justin Herbert against another elite quarterback and reunites the Chargers with former defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, now Baltimore’s head coach. It also preserves the Harbaugh family connection surrounding Jim and John Harbaugh.
In Week 12, New England visits SoFi Stadium for Sunday Night Football. This is the most obvious revenge game on the schedule because the Patriots ended Los Angeles’ previous season with a 16-3 Wild Card victory.
The third confirmed national game is a Week 15 Thursday Night Football matchup against San Francisco. Jim Harbaugh facing his former organization provides an additional storyline, while the four-day turnaround following the Raiders game adds competitive difficulty.
Three circle-the-calendar matchups stand above the rest:
Week 3 at Buffalo: Herbert faces Josh Allen in the first season of Buffalo’s new stadium.
Week 8 at the Rams: The Battle of Los Angeles occurs at SoFi Stadium, but the Chargers are officially the road team.
Week 12 vs. New England: Los Angeles gets a nationally televised opportunity to respond to its latest playoff disappointment.
The AFC West schedule begins with Las Vegas visiting SoFi Stadium in Week 2. The Chargers travel to Allegiant Stadium for the rematch in Week 14, immediately before their short-week game against San Francisco.
Denver visits Los Angeles in Week 5. The return game will be played in Denver during Week 18, marking the second consecutive season in which the Chargers close against the Broncos. The exact day and kickoff time remain unconfirmed. Denver won the AFC West in 2025, making these meetings especially important to Los Angeles’ division-title hopes.
The Chargers visit Kansas City in Week 6 and host the Chiefs in Week 17. Los Angeles swept Kansas City in 2025 for the first time since 2013, but repeating that result will be difficult.
With Kansas City and Denver scheduled in the final two weeks, the AFC West race could remain unsettled until the last weekend.
The hardest four-game stretch appears between Weeks 3 and 6.
Los Angeles begins with a cross-country trip to Buffalo before visiting the defending champion Seahawks in Seattle. The Chargers then return home for a divisional test against Denver before traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to face Kansas City. The NFL itself described the broader Weeks 3-10 section as a seven-game gauntlet, with the Week 7 bye separating its two halves.
This stretch combines elite quarterbacks, difficult road environments, considerable travel and two AFC West games. A 2-2 result would be manageable. Going 3-1 would establish the Chargers as a serious conference contender.
The clearest opportunity to bank victories comes immediately.
Los Angeles opens at home against Arizona and remains at SoFi Stadium to face Las Vegas. Arizona is an infrequent opponent and won only three games in 2025, while the Chargers have won five consecutive home games against the Raiders.
Beginning 2-0 would be especially valuable because the schedule becomes considerably more difficult in Week 3. The Chargers cannot treat a divisional game as automatic, but the combination of home-field continuity and limited travel makes the opening fortnight their best winning-streak window.
The Chargers have eight designated home games and nine road games. However, their Week 8 road matchup against the Rams will also be played at SoFi Stadium, meaning Los Angeles effectively receives a ninth game in its home venue without home-team control of tickets, sidelines or presentation.
The travel burden is concentrated in four cross-country trips: Buffalo, Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Miami. The Week 10 Monday night game in Baltimore is followed by a six-day turnaround before the Jets visit Los Angeles.
The most demanding rest situation arrives in December. The Chargers play at Las Vegas on Sunday, December 13, and host San Francisco four days later. They then receive an extended break before traveling to Miami on December 27.
The Week 7 bye is well positioned between the difficult Kansas City trip and the Battle of Los Angeles.
The Patriots rematch will attract the most attention because of how decisively New England ended Los Angeles’ 2025 season. Herbert and Harbaugh have produced consecutive 11-win campaigns, but the franchise still needs a playoff victory to validate its progress.
Week 10 carries multiple coaching connections. Former Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter now leads Baltimore, while Jim Harbaugh again faces his brother John in a matchup between expected AFC contenders.
Mike McDaniel’s Week 16 return to Miami is another major storyline. McDaniel now controls Herbert’s offense after previously serving as the Dolphins’ head coach. His familiarity with Miami’s personnel may influence preparation on both sides.
The Rams game offers a rare shared-stadium matchup, and Arizona’s Week 1 visit is only the second season-opening meeting between the Chargers and Cardinals in franchise history.
Los Angeles has the quarterback, coaching staff and defensive talent required to return to the postseason. The key question is whether McDaniel can help Herbert produce a more explosive and adaptable offense.
The additions of Biadasz and Njoku should strengthen the middle of the formation, while the expected return of tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt could significantly improve protection. Mesidor joins Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu in a pass-rush group that must replace departed production.
The Chargers should compete for the AFC West, but the schedule creates several potential trouble spots. Weeks 3-6 are difficult, the Patriots and Texans could influence Wild Card tiebreakers, and the final two division games remain flexible.
Prediction: 10-7.
That record should place Los Angeles firmly in the AFC Wild Card race and could be enough to challenge for the division if Denver regresses or Kansas City starts slowly. An 11- or 12-win season is possible if McDaniel immediately elevates the offense. Falling to 9-8 becomes plausible if the offensive line suffers more injuries or the Chargers struggle during their four cross-country trips.
The regular season is no longer the primary measurement for this team. The Chargers must win a playoff game for 2026 to feel like a meaningful step forward.
The Los Angeles Chargers’ 2026 schedule offers an intriguing combination of early opportunity, national-stage matchups and late divisional pressure. Fans can look forward to a Battle of Los Angeles, a playoff rematch against New England, another Harbaugh-connected game in Baltimore and two potentially decisive AFC West contests to close the season. The arrival of Mike McDaniel gives Herbert and the offense a fresh direction, but the demanding Weeks 3-10 stretch will provide an immediate test. Los Angeles should remain a playoff contender; the larger question is whether this team can finally produce its breakthrough in January.

The 2026 Femme Fatale Tour gives Mon Laferte another major stage for an album that blends classic Latin influences with jazz-driven atmosphere and modern pop songwriting, while the mix of theaters and arenas across North America could make several markets especially competitive.
Fans planning to attend should monitor ticket outlets and venue listings closely as their preferred show approaches. The Mon Laferte Tour is shaping up as one of the live chapters of the Femme Fatale era, with dates carrying Laferte’s latest work from late summer into the fall and giving audiences a look at her evolving performance style.
]]>BTS will bring the BTS World Tour ‘ARIRANG’ into 2027, extending the group’s stadium comeback across Australia and Asia. The confirmed schedule includes dates in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Bulacan after concerts in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta.
The tour opened in April 2026 and spans 34 regions and 79 performances, making it the largest run of BTS’s career. RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook returned to group touring after completing their South Korean military-service commitments in 2025.
The concerts support BTS’s fifth studio album, “ARIRANG,” released on March 20, 2026. Fans can expect material from the album alongside favorites from the group’s catalog.
A 360-degree, in-the-round stage places audiences around the performance area and increases capacity. The production marks the first K-pop stadium tour built around that format and gives ARMY a closer view from sections of each venue.
Ticket arrangements vary by market, so fans should use the official BTS tour website and authorized local ticketing partners. For the Australia and Asia shows, ARMY Membership presales and general sales opened on dates in June 2026, with times set separately for markets.
Eligible fans had to register through Weverse before joining an ARMY Membership presale. The system requires a membership number beginning with “BA,” and Asia-Pacific shows accept the Global membership.
Availability may now differ by date because sales have opened. Fans should avoid unofficial websites, confirm the venue and date before paying, and check the official listing for ticket updates.
Demand for the BTS World Tour remains intense, especially for the limited 2027 stadium dates. ARMY members should monitor official ticket pages closely and secure verified tickets early when new inventory or additional sale information appears.
]]>As of August 2026, there is no confirmed tour name, schedule, ticket-sale date, venue list or supporting-act announcement. Taylor Swift’s previous Eras Tour ended in Vancouver on December 8, 2024, after a massive international run covering 149 shows across five continents.
A new tour in 2027 is certainly possible, but fans should treat every rumored city, venue and concert date as speculation until it is confirmed through Taylor Swift’s official website, verified social media accounts or authorized ticketing platforms.
Taylor Swift has not confirmed that she will tour in 2027. There is currently no official opening date, ticket registration period or city announcement.
The Eras Tour was one of the largest and most demanding concert tours ever produced. Because of the tour’s length, scale and complicated production, it would be understandable for Swift to take a significant break before beginning another stadium tour.
However, a 2027 return would give her more than two years away from the final Eras Tour performance. That makes a new concert cycle possible, especially if it is connected to a future album or a completely new live-show concept.
Fans should be cautious with unofficial websites that publish supposed tour schedules, countdowns, presale forms or ticket buttons without providing confirmation from Taylor Swift’s official team.
If Taylor Swift launches another global stadium tour, North America would likely receive a large number of dates. The strongest candidates are cities that performed well during previous tours and have stadiums capable of supporting several consecutive concerts.
| Expected city or market | Why it could be included |
|---|---|
| Los Angeles, California | A major entertainment market that can support multiple stadium shows |
| New York City / East Rutherford | One of the largest media and concert markets in the world |
| Chicago, Illinois | A central Midwest destination with strong regional demand |
| Boston / Foxborough | A reliable New England stadium market |
| Dallas / Arlington | A major southern market with a large indoor stadium |
| Miami, Florida | A key Florida destination and gateway to Latin American audiences |
| Toronto, Ontario | One of Canada’s largest and most successful concert markets |
| Vancouver, British Columbia | The final destination of the Eras Tour and a strong western Canadian market |
Other realistic possibilities include Seattle, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Nashville, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa, Las Vegas and Santa Clara.
The final route would depend on stadium availability, sports schedules, weather conditions and the number of performances planned for each city.
London would be one of the strongest European candidates. Taylor Swift previously performed several successful concerts at Wembley Stadium, proving that the city can support an extended series of shows.
Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and Dublin would also be logical destinations because of their large audiences, international airports and stadium infrastructure.
Other possible European cities include:
Vienna could receive special attention after Taylor Swift’s planned 2024 concerts in the city were canceled because of security concerns. However, there is currently no evidence that replacement concerts or future Vienna dates have been scheduled.
Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne would likely be among the leading Asia-Pacific destinations. These cities were included during the Eras Tour and demonstrated strong demand for Taylor Swift concerts.
Singapore is particularly important because it serves as a major travel hub for fans across Southeast Asia. Tokyo offers large indoor venues and one of the world’s most established concert markets. Sydney and Melbourne remain the clearest Australian choices.
Seoul is another frequently requested destination because it was not included in the Eras Tour. Other possible expansion markets include:
These cities are more speculative because venue capacity, production logistics, weather and regional routing would influence whether they could support a Taylor Swift stadium show.
A return to Latin America would be highly possible during another global tour.
Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires would be the safest predictions because all three cities hosted Eras Tour performances and have large, established fan communities.
Rio de Janeiro could also return, while Santiago and Bogotá may be considered as possible new or expanded destinations.
Latin American fans should be especially careful with unofficial ticket pages. Fraudulent resale websites and fake registration forms can appear long before an official tour announcement.
There is currently no reliable announcement timetable.
Major stadium tours are usually announced several months before the first concert. Initial dates may be followed by additional shows when presale demand exceeds venue capacity.
The first trustworthy signs of a Taylor Swift 2027 tour would likely include:
Until those updates appear, no leaked schedule, venue map, presale code or ticket listing should be treated as official.
A Taylor Swift tour in 2027 is possible, but it remains unconfirmed.
If she launches another international stadium tour, the strongest expected cities include Los Angeles, New York or East Rutherford, Chicago, Toronto, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires.
These predictions are based on Taylor Swift’s previous tour routes, stadium availability, travel infrastructure and audience demand. They are not confirmed dates or insider information.
For now, fans should wait for an official announcement before booking hotels, purchasing flights or buying concert tickets.
