HOUSTON, TEXAS (April 20, 2016) — Abby’s Aircraft Catering recently received a special delivery from Mallaghan GSE based out of Dungannon, Northern Ireland of high loader trucks. These catering vehicles are specifically designed for the use of loading and unloading fresh meals for the passengers and crew of wide body and large cabin aircraft. They consist of a rear body lift system, platform and hydraulic control mechanism to be lifted up and down to the galley door of the aircraft.

Abby’s is entering into the commercial airline-catering sector by popular demand all while maintaining their award winning private and corporate aviation catering divisions. All of Abby’s In-flight food is prepared in the newly constructed commercial in-flight kitchen, which is a HACCP and Halal certified facility where food is made in sterile and controlled environments. The packed food is then placed in trollies and wheeled into the catering truck or “high loader” onsite at the premises. From thereon the vehicle drives to the airport to load the meals onto the aircraft.

Mallaghan Catering Trucks are highly acclaimed catering vehicles used for the efficient transportation of catering equipment and food supplies to and from the aircraft. Mallaghan is committed to ensuring that every Catering Truck manufactured is built to customer’s own operational requirements and constructed for safe operation, long-life and maintenance friendly metric. “Having taken delivery of their first ever Catering Trucks, Mallaghan is delighted to announce our support for our very valued client Abby’s Aircraft Catering and wish them every success for their new venture within the commercial airline-catering sector. This will be a highly successful venture for a well-established company such as Abby’s Aircraft Catering, who has been providing an array of professional and experienced catering services to small firms and Fortune 500 companies for over 36 years now. A company that has grown organically and understands the need to expand and adapt its capabilities to provide the airline sector with an exceptional level of catering services.” states Business Development Director, John Cameron.

“Larger private aircrafts have been flying into Houston and surrounding airports that require service using high loaders combined with the increased demand from International Airlines seeking a more refined and personal catering experience has driven us to acquire these new vehicles. We are so excited and realize that this is a huge milestone for our family business,” said Greg den Herder, CEO.

Abby’s can assemble the meals according to any specifications, pack the service trolleys in the desired manner, stage the carts for loading, and execute delivery in high-loader trucks to the aircraft’s galley accurately and on time.

In 1984 he came to the U.S. with his father who at the time was the UN Ambassador for Sudan in New York. Working his way through school by selling used cars, he pursued a career in Political Science and History at the University of Houston.

From his humble beginnings selling used cars, Adam is now the owner of companies that are helping the City of Houston in clearing stalled vehicles from the City’s freeways, repairing wrecked and damaged vehicles, storing vehicles that have either been impounded by local law enforcement or in an accident that has rendered the car immobile and a state of the art “green” metal recycling facility that takes old cars and appliances and shreds, compacts or separates the items for re-use in other industries.

Within a year, he outgrew his building, tore down the old structure and built an additional warehouse.

The business he started in 2005 has grown to 20 employees four are military veterans.

Marianne Hudson, a Forbes contributor, stated, “We all proudly read the news about the work veterans do protecting our country. However, what often doesn’t make news is the impact these heroes have on the business world.”

Check out these statistics:

3 million: The number of businesses veterans run in the United States

7 million: The number of people employed by veterans, which equates to $210 billion in annual payroll and $1.2 trillion in sales

30 percent: The portion of all American businesses owned by veterans; interestingly, while veterans make up only 8% of the U.S. population, they are twice as likely to own a business as the general population.
