Comment on Windows SFU NFS Server and Group Permissions by Marc

That is, how do you determine and/or set the GID on a file when you create it on the Windows side and serve it up via SFU! I don’t suppose you found any solution (besides scrapping it and using linux instead!)
Thanks a lot,
Marc.

I plan on using it (at least personally) in a freetype patch I’m slaving over. I’m finding that different ppems require different FIR filter levels! http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/freetype/2010-03/msg00025.html

Any ideas??

Comment on Dell 3007WFP-HC Mini-review by Paul

Thu, 24 Apr 2008 12:44:22 +0000http://levelsofdetail.wordpress.com/2008/01/12/dell_3007wfphc_minireview/#comment-241I just recently purchased 2 3007wfp’s and I also noticed the “sparkly” effect of the anti-glare. To be honest, it really isn’t a big deal aside from the fact that I can see a visible difference compared to my dual 2408’s at work (incredibly sharp colors, bright white, and an anti-glare that you really wouldn’t notice unless you were specifically looking for it). It doesn’t seem to be too bad, but I can definitely see how it would be annoying if you were used to a much cleaner, sharper looking, smaller monitor.
I’m actually completely happy with the monitors in every other respect, but I’d compare the “sparkly” effect to, say, the fan noise on a computer. For some people, the amount of noise their computer’s fans make would be important, and for others they either don’t notice them, or it just doesn’t bother them. I’d definitely agree with your article though. If the anti-glare really bugs you, you will be unhappy with this monitor.

Comment on Make the Thinkpad's middle button scroll work on more apps by Bryan

Mon, 14 Apr 2008 21:10:54 +0000http://levelsofdetail.wordpress.com/2007/06/13/make_the_thinkpads_middle_butt/#comment-236Thank you!!!
I have a PowerBook at home and use a Windows ThinkPad T60 at work. I was eager to see the claimed lightning speed of Safari 3 compared with the RAM hungry Firefox. I was frustrated by the ThinkPad TrackPoint issue and your links here are the first relevant solution I found (linked from http://www.peteranglea.com/2007/06/12/safari-for-windows-a-brief-review/). Helpful Notes: I tried the Microsoft forums link, but the linked post was gone. Fortunately, I found my tp4table.dat file at “C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP” and I was able to skip the suggested reboot by stopping (killing) the SynTPEnh.exe and SynTPLpr.exe processes and restarting them. I didn’t even have to restart Safari. Thanks for figuring this out and sharing with the world!

Also, one of my primary uses at home for a monitor is to view photos, so I really wanted to avoid the gamma shift. I might just end up going with one of the high end NEC 90 series monitors.
