aspeers 18 to Be Launched on May 26

On May 26, 2025, at 7 pm, aspeers: emerging voices in american studies will celebrate the release of its eighteenth issue.

Over the course of the last winter semester, an editing team of thirteen MA students has worked to select contributions, revise them together with the authors, edit them, and make them ready for publication. The result is a book-size volume to be presented as part of the event.

This eighteenth issue spotlights the topic of “American (Anti-)Heroes.” It contains an introduction by the editors, five academic papers by European MA students, a professorial voice by Prof. Dr. Carmen Birkle, as well as four pieces of art.

Please join us in Room 2.5.16 of the GWZ (Beethovenstr. 15; top floor) on May 26, 7 pm, to celebrate!

The event is free and open to the public.

On May 27, 2024, at 6 pm, aspeers: emerging voices in american studies, the first and currently only peer-reviewed print journal for MA-level American studies scholarship in Europe, will celebrate the release of its seventeenth issue.

Over the course of the last winter semester, an editing team of eleven MA students has worked to select contributions, revise them together with the authors, edit them, and make them ready for publication. The result is a book-size volume to be presented as part of the event.

All aspeers Articles Now Have DOIs

All articles and creative contributions from past aspeers issues (as well as the issues themselves) now have DOIs (digital object identifiers) in order to ensure that all contributions to aspeers can always reliably be referred to. You can find the DOIs in the online version of every individual contribution, under the indication of the page ranges.

From now on, future issues of aspeers will also always feature DOIs.

This recent addition was made possible by having aspeers issues featured in the repository of The Stacks, in an effort that was driven by former aspeers editor Wiebke Kartheus.
