The ANU SA8 project consists of 1031 student accommodation beds with single occupant rooms in 8 buildings across 5-8 storeys. The design of the complex is based on recommendations via a student survey which emphasised the importance of both indoor and outdoor communal spaces to encourage greater interaction among students
and families.
The construction will comprise of:
The project consists of two new 8 storey buildings, Bruce Hall and Wright Hall that feature symmetrical representation to create a singular image. The two halls are made up of 800 bed student residences incorporating two fully and self-catered dining halls, communal recreation areas, storage for 800 bicycles, and landscaping. The communal areas include study rooms, theatrette, laundry, common room, landscaped roof terraces and kitchen gardens. The project involved demolition of the existing Bruce Hall building and ground remediation prior to construction commencing.
Each building contains a dining hall located along the edges of University Avenue allowing the students to have a physical and visual connection between the respective halls. Given the historic placement of the existing Bruce Hall Dining facility, the proposed placement provides a historic link to the previous hall and the relationship of the diners to the University Avenue.

The Cooper Lodge is located at The University of Canberra’s Bruce Campus, a few minutes’ drive from Canberra’s city centre and the Belconnen Westfield shopping centre.
The project consists of two buildings, one of eight stories, and the other four stories, connected by bridge links on four levels. Both buildings will be home to 417 students at the University of Canberra. Cooper Lodge is a mixture of 267 single occupant studios and 30 five bedroom apartments. The project also includes an undercover secure area for bikes and motorcycles.
The ground floor of both the interconnecting buildings will provide convenient commercial and retail space for the students. This includes a cafe, bakery, restaurant, and supermarket, bar, University Student Services and a clothing store.
The project was carefully designed and styled each room with a modern feel whilst managing to provide an energy efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective building. Cooper Lodge has been designed to meet the requirements of a 5 Star Green-Star rating.
Wing 5 of the Cameron Offices into off campus student accommodation for under and post graduate students at the University Of Canberra (UC). The Cameron Offices are iconic heritage buildings constructed primarily of concrete, and are located in the Belconnen Town Centre.
The adaptive reuse project will provide a modern student accommodation complex within an existing unique and significant heritage fabric. The project provides a student accommodation facility in a nearby off campus setting to support the activities of the UC which has seen its student numbers grow by more than 35% since 2007.
Once the refurbishment is complete the 5 storey building will house up to 260 students, providing a range of accommodation options such as 1 and 2 bedroom studio apartments, 3, 4, & 5 bedroom apartments, and communal facilities including kitchenettes, laundries, break out study areas and recreational facilities in a safe and secure environment.
The major focus for the Cameron Offices project is heritage conservation, with the building being listed in 2005 as a Commonwealth heritage place.

The new Kambah P-10 School, re-named Namadgi School is constructed on the old Kambah High School site. The project required the demolition of the existing buildings & the construction of buildings and facilities for: Preschool & Kindergarten, Years 1 to 10; a Performing Arts, Design Technology, Visual Arts, Science Laboratories, Learning Resource Centre, Administration, Gymnasium and Canteen.
The school accommodates 900 students and up to 120 teaching and ancillary staff.
Consisting of multiple discrete buildings, the involvement of specialist sustainable consultants in the early stages of the design was successful in ensuring the project objectives were included in the early design works, thus ensuring maximum uptake of sustainable design principles’ into the construction process.
The block is roughly square in shape, bounded by Drakeford Drive to the north-east, O’Halloran Circuit to the south-east, Kambah District playing fields to the north-west and a cycle/walkway to the south-west with the existing Urambi Primary School site beyond. Currently vehicle access to the School is gained from O’Halloran Circuit.
The site has a gentle fall across it from the north (rear) to the south (front) corners of approximately 6 metres and has an approximate total area of 74,500m2 The existing building group is located to the lower south-eastern sector of the site, with the western sector being occupied by playing field and northern area occupied by tennis, basketball and netball hard surface courts. The site includes a high number of well-established mature trees of varying speciesThe Namadgi School incorporates a range of sustainability principles. During construction materials with a high recycled content were used, such as the carpets and internal wall linings. A highly insulated building envelope was used as was “green” concrete mix. Clever design allows the maximisation of natural ventilation and learning spaces are filled with natural light. A photovoltaic solar system has also been installed to supplement the school’s power supply. This will have an output of 30kW.
All buildings on the site have individual ‘Smart Meters’ linked to the Building Management System. Software will allow students and staff to view and log power and water usage. Such monitoring will enhance students’ learning when studying sustainability, energy and environment.
A 200,000 litre rainwater retention tank is on site, with water able to be used for irrigation of the grounds. Each building has a grey water system for
toilet flushing.
At the completion of the demolition ninety-three percent of all materials from the former Kambah High School structure were recycled, exceeding the Green Star benchmark of eighty percent. This project was required to achieve a 5 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 certified rating.

The new Defence Network Operations Centre located at HMAS Harman in Canberra co-locates a number of previously separate information based arms of Australia’s Defence Force.
Under the new roof, the DNOC team operates Australia’s fourth largest telecommunications network operating 24/7.
The $20M project required a fast track design, documentation and construction period with only 12 months between concept design
and commissioning.
The project is the planning, design, documentation, construction and commissioning of the HMAS Harman Communications Facilities. The facility is an important national asset for the Defence organization, incorporating high levels of security and operational reliability.

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) located in Canberra is a joint partnership between the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the University of NSW (UNSW). It provides an undergraduate learning/living environment for budding Officers of the ADF (Army, Navy and Air Force) to undertake both military and university studies whilst living on site and being exposed to the expectations and rigors of military life.
It also provides post-graduate study for civilians, more senior ADF personnel and public servants.
Approximately 900 Army and Air Force officer cadets and Navy Midshipmen are enrolled in the three year training program at ADFA. About another 500 cadets are currently completing a fourth year of academic studies or post-graduate studies through UNSW. These cadets come from around Australia
and from other Defence Forces around the world through military exchange programs.
ADFA is located in Campbell. It is situated next to Mount Pleasant and adjacent to the Royal Military College, Duntroon.
The redevelopment project at the ADFA is required to be completed by 2013 and will provide much required vital upgrades to the existing facilities and services at the campus. A majority of the facilities were designed in 1981 in accordance with the prevailing standards and technology.
Since opening,
ADFA has undergone several significant changes in organisation and management arrangements of both the academic and military components. These upgrades will provide an opportunity for ADFA to rationalise the campus and re-evaluate their requirements keeping pace with the technological
advances and to meet their perceived needs for next two to three decades.

The HMAS ALBATROSS redevelopment project will upgrade and refurbish existing facilities and infrastructure for the command, training, maintenance, operational and administration functions to meet projected base operational and support capabilities for at least the next 20 to 30 years. Present infrastructure deficiencies are impacting this required capability.
HMAS ALBATROSS is an operational Naval Air Base with over 2,000 on site staff, the redevelopment project (stage one) aims to undertake major civil infrastructure upgrade works whilst limiting disruption to the base operations and staff.

Design and construct and commission a new waste disposal facility to convert general solid waste into compost.
The site was once the Woodlawn Open Cut Mine which produced zinc, lead and copper ore until 1998. Veolia established a waste disposal facility for Sydney’s southern suburbs general waste at the site. Veolia also uses the disposal of by-products to generate electricity.
The environmental approval granted to Veolia to use the Woodlawn mine site as a waste disposal facility requires the property to be rehabilitated for agricultural use. To achieve this, the MBT Facility was designed to convert (upon completion of Stage 2), 200,000 tonnes of general solid waste into 40,000 tonnes of compost each year to be used as clean fill material.
The Woodlawn MBT Facility will increase the resource recovery capabilities of the Woodlawn site, through the production of compost from the organic faction of waste. This will assist the municipal and commercial sectors to meet their resource recovery targets set by the NSW Government.
