Have you ever brought a retreat group to Amnicon?

When you brought a retreat group to Amnicon, you invested in your community.

You gave people the chance to take a break from the stressors of daily life.

We sincerely hope that while you were here, your group built lasting and meaningful relationships and experienced the peace of the wilderness out here.

THANK YOU for bringing a retreat group to Amnicon.

We wanted to reach out today because Amnicon is at a really exciting crossroads right now, and we would deeply appreciate your thoughts, input, and feedback as a retreat organizer.

Over the last decade, Amnicon has been making steady and significant progress towards growth and sustainability across all aspects of our ministry. We’ve added new ways for people to experience the peace of wild places here. We’ve renovated almost every room of every building on site. We’ve achieved financial stability for the last 4 years, after running at a deficit for more than a decade. In many ways, it feels as though Amnicon is finally becoming everything it was meant to be.

We’re not done growing yet.

In 2027 we are launching a 5-year plan that includes a major capital building project. We have hopes, and dreams, and plans, and ideas. But we need your feedback. You brought at least one retreat to Amnicon within the last 5 years. We want to hear from you what matters most, and what it’s really like to organize a retreat event at Amnicon.

What is amazing, and should never change?
What just doesn’t work, and needs to be different?
What are our biggest missed opportunities?
What do YOU think we should focus on first?
We want to know.

We’ve put together a survey for retreat organizers. All fields are optional, and hopefully this doesn’t take up too much of your time. As an added incentive, if you include your name and email address when you complete the survey you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a free two-night stay in one of our personal retreat cabins. A free weekend getaway, just for giving us your opinion!

7 Reasons Why A Cabin Is Better Than A Hotel https://amnicon.org/7-reasons-why-a-cabin-is-better-than-a-hotel/ Tue, 13 Oct 2026 02:39:36 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=4130

They say planning a vacation can be almost as exciting & stress-relieving as actually taking that vacation. Here are 10 reasons why a cabin makes for a better vacation than a hotel.

1. More Private Space, Less Public Space

No waiting at a reception desk in a busy lobby. No hallways. No elevators. No rubbing elbows with people you don’t know. If there are publicly shared spaces, they’re probably outdoor walking paths & parking lots where you have plenty of room to spread out. It’ll be nice to get away from the crowds & chaos of city life and take in nature.

Sunset Interior

2. Everything you need. Nothing you don’t.

What do you really need on your next vacation? A place to sleep. A place to eat. Space to read & think & breathe & be. Peace & quiet & rejuvenation. A cabin may not have the pool or the weight room that a hotel has, but do you really need that? Nah. If you want to work out, go for a nature hike! If you want a swim, hop in the river or lake! Part of what makes vacation so good for us is getting away from all the distractions we don’t really need. A cabin has everything you need and nothing you don’t.

3. More Nature & Beautiful Scenery

There’s something about going out into the natural world that opens your heart & mind in ways you just don’t get in the city. It helps you re-frame your perspective, slow down, and focus on what really matters. Get outside! And vacation in a place where the natural world is all around you.

4. More Peace. More Quiet.

And isn’t peace & quiet something we all need? No sounds of traffic. No hum of the flourescent lights or the elevator. Don’t waste time listening to the TV in the next room over. Don’t get startled by the noisy AC unit turning on. At the cabin, the loudest thing you’ll hear are the birds.

5. Rustic. Charm.

Have you ever found a hotel room endearing? I didn’t think so. But a Cabin? It’s charming and heartwarming. A hotel room fills a need. A cabin creates an experience.

6. A Cabin Is It’s Own Destination

A hotel room is just a landing pad so you can go do other things. Can you imagine spending a whole day in a hotel room? Boring! A cabin is it’s own destination. Once you settle in, you won’t want to leave your comfy rocking chair by the fireplace. If you start getting antsy, you have plenty of hiking trails to explore around your cabin, or you can go canoeing on the river or swimming in the lake. You don’t have to leave the site to have an adventure, relax, or make memories. It’s all right here, at the cabin.

7. More Separation From Life & Work Reminders

Having the excuse of, “I didn’t get the message because I didn’t have any signal” can be so nice sometimes! Vacation is a time to get away from all the notifications, needs, and general busy-ness of everyday life. When you vacation in the city it’s too easy for that kind of stuff to creep in. When you’re out in the woods it literally can’t. Just make sure you turn on your vacation responder!

Camp Amnicon is grounded in values that center dignity, care for one another, and the belief that all people are beloved and worthy of safety and respect.

We are grieved by the fear and harm being experienced by our partners, neighbors, campers, and friends in the Minneapolis area at the hands of ICE. Guided by our values, we believe we are called to stand with our neighbors and respond with compassion, courage, and care.

Until peace and justice are restored, Amnicon is offering free personal retreats to any community leader or member who needs one. We understand that getting away can be difficult, but it can also be incredibly soul filling and rejuvenating. To any pastor, teacher, community organizer, or human being who needs a break…come to Amnicon and let the river, the trees, and The Lake take care of you for a minute. It’s ok to need a break.

What to Expect Throughout the Year https://amnicon.org/what-to-expect-throughout-the-year/ Sun, 05 Mar 2023 21:33:26 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=7619

Every season is at Amnicon is amazing in it’s own way.

Amnicon is primarily a summer camp that runs high adventure canoe trips but we also have a spacious lodge and private cabins that can be rented out anytime of the year. Each season has its own unique beauty that you can experience while you’re here. From stunning fall colors, to wintry wonderland trails, to relaxing under the summer sun, every season at Amnicon is the perfect time to visit for someone.

Looking to plan a trip? Wondering what to expect? Read below to find the best time of year for YOU to come stay at Amnicon.

Summer (June – August)

Summer is understandably our busiest season all around. We have groups of campers rotating through base camp preparing for their trips & cleaning up afterwards. Retreat groups stay at both retreat facilities  almost continuously. Families & individuals rent our private retreat cabins every single night they’re available.

Because of this you’re likely a lot of people around the main site. We may be serving meals to group under the pavilion, hosting campfires on the beach, and people will just be around enjoying the trails, the lawn, and the grounds.

That being said…cabin guests still get to experience plenty of privacy. You have your own kitchenette space in the cabin, a private outhouse, and your own outdoor fire pit. Most of our cabins only offer views of the woods and the river.

One of the best ways to enjoy our site in the summer is sitting by a campfire on the beach at sunset. Our big sandy beach on Lake Superior is just a 15-20 minute walk from the cabins. If you build a campfire, we just ask that you keep it three feet tall or less. Expect the beach to feel about 10 degrees cooler than the main site. This means you might still need a jacket during sunset and after dark even in July and August.

Fall (September – October)

As summer ends and transitions into fall, the site starts to look different in many ways. There are fewer people around because our high adventure trips and our group retreat business tends to slow down after school is back in session.

Peak fall colors tend to come around the last week in September or the first week in October. It is typically still warm and dry enough to enjoy the outdoor fire pits, hike the trails on the property, and visit the beach. Cooler weather also means that you’re less likely to experience the nuisance of mosquito bites!

After the leaves have fallen from the trees (mid-late October) you get the benefit of being able to see more of the geography of the land. The Amnicon River becomes visible from all around the main site, and you can even see Lake Superior if you look down the river valley behind the dining hall.

We recommend coming in Fall if you want to enjoy the great outdoors, feel the crisp cool air, and enjoy a little slower pace of life.

Winter (November – March)

Is visiting in winter worth it? Absolutely!

It starts to look and feel like winter in mid to late november. When the snow falls, Amnicon’s main site begins to turn into a winter wonderland. Snow starts coming as early as November and often continues through March. We tend to get a lot of snow because we are right on the shore of Lake Superior.

With the leaves gone from trees it provides great views through the trees down to the lake or river. You can cozy up by the fireplace and enjoy the view out the window or you can bundle up and explore the snowy forest.

Taking the trail down to the lake is highly recommended. Lake Superior in the winter is quite a site to be seen. Some years, huge frozen ice mounds form from the waves and kind of look similar to sand dunes but ice instead of sand. It looks like you’re on the moon! Other years the lake freezes in sheets of ice that pile up and look like panes of glass.

People often ask if they need snow shoes to travel the trails. The asnwer…sometimes! If we’ve very recently had a big storm, snow shoes may be a good idea. But after a little while, the trails do get packed down by guests & visitors that you’ll be fine in just regular winter boots. We have a few snowshoes available to borrow, and you can ask any staff person where to find them when you’re here.

Sunset Interior

Spring (April – May)

Spring is the quietest time to visit!

Winter starts to change into spring and the snow starts to melt as early as March but often not until early April. After the snow melts, and before the leaves come in, you’ll have the chance to find the Spring Ephemeral Flowers like Marsh Marigolds, Rue Anenomes, and Trilliums. Leaves and foliage start growing in mid May.

May is when Amnicon really comes to life with birdsong. Thousands of migratory birds come through Amnicon giving you the opportunity to enjoy their beautiful bird songs each morning. A few birds you may get to see include Rosebreasted Grosbeaks, Hermit Thrushes, and American Woodcocks. A slow, quiet walk along any of our hiking trails is a great way to enjoy the abundant bird life that we have here.

Amnicon’s soil is almost entirely red clay.Because snow is melting and spring brings rain, the hiking trails are often very muddy. If you plan to hike, bring boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Spring is often our slowest cabin rental season so this is a great time to really experience such a vast amount of land and nature with very few people around.

So When is The Best Time to Visit?

Any season, any time! Each season is beautiful in its own way, and you can experience that here at Amnicon. Beautiful sunny summer days, gorgeous red, orange, and yellow colors as leaves change in the fall, a winter wonderland with all the snow you could ask for and spring flowers and beautiful colors as plants come back to life in the spring. Because of all the different things each season has to offer we have a lot of guests who come stay with us multiple times throughout the year to experience the different seasons.

10 Things Youth Learn on a Wilderness Trip https://amnicon.org/10-things-youth-learn-on-an-amnicon-trip/ Fri, 18 Nov 2022 00:50:00 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=4335

You want to help them grow. You want to help them experience God’s presence because it’s beautiful and powerful and it will change their lives. You want to set them up for success. Amnicon can help you do that. We take small groups on week-long  wilderness adventures. These adventure trips are transformative and powerful experiences! Here are 10 things your youth group will learn on an Amnicon adventure:

1. Experiencing God’s presence in new and amazing ways

God is there in the trees and the water. God is there when the sun sets and more stars than you’ve ever seen appear in the sky. God is there by the campfire where some how it just seems a little easier to open up and be real with each other about what we think and how we’re doing. God is always with us, but for some reason it’s easier to experience God’s presence when you’re fully immersed in God’s creation. You get away from the distractions and stressors of every day life, and step into a world that is slower and quieter…allowing you to hear God’s voice and feel God’s Spirit. It’s amazing!

“Every time I come to Amnicon I find that I come away with a sense

of having a good, thorough, though unrealized conversation with God.” Evie

“God showed up in the peacefulness of the water and the power of the storms.

And other things in nature. I grew closer to God and the other people on the trip.

I loved it. It was an awesome experience to have.” Kate

2. They are capable of so much more than they gave themselves credit for.

We push our campers out of their comfort zones in so many ways. They try new things – like paddling Class II rapids or sleeping under the stars. They work hard – we don’t get to eat dinner until we gather enough wood to cook it! And we challenge them to open up about who they really are and what they really think by making sure they know that they are truly safe at Amnicon and then asking the deep, hard questions. At the end of the trip they can look back at all the ways they succeeded and grew and be amazed.

“The trip pushed us beyond what we thought we were capable of…

but not what we were actually capable of.” Sam

“During hard times in the future I know I can look back  at my experience on this trip.

I know that  if I was able to do this, then I can face whatever else comes.” Evan

3. Communication – Sharing & Listening

It’s amazing the things youth will say when they feel safe, and when they know that people are interested and care. That is what we strive to be and do at Amnicon. And we use some favorite tools, like Talking Sticks and campfires, to help prep them to know when their turn to speak and when their turn to listen is coming.

“I’m still finding my beliefs, but God definitely showed up in nature this week, and

I appreciated that the guides didn’t shove anything down your throat. We could just talk about things.” Leah

“The atmosphere created by the people at Amnicon made it possible for me to

start saying the things that are really important to me.” Keri

4. Freedom from Technology

For many campers, this is the first time they won’t have a cell phone on them since they got it. We even encourage campers to leave their watches behind and live on Nature’s Time. It’s challenging, and strange, but freeing and fun as well.

“I actually enjoyed not getting to know what time it was. It’s nice to slow down and be on nature’s time.

Eat when you’re hungry. Sleep when you’re tired. There’s something to that.”  Julie

“I’m usually on my phone all the time, so it was weird to not have it. But I got through the week by trusting God, and

knowing that I’ll have technology my whole life but I won’t get to be here forever.” Delone

4. They develop an appreciation & love for Nature

It’s hard not to when you spend a whole week fully immersed in it! There are so many breathtaking views, amazing discoveries, and wonderful wildlife encounters. The mud, the sand, the water, the frogs, all of it becomes an instrument of wonder and their minds are opened. If you want them to grow to becomes good stewards of God’s creation, what better way to help them do that than going out into creation and discovering all the goodness that’s there?

“I learned that I need to slow down and enjoy nature more often because there is so much to see.”  Lili

“The highlight of the trip was laying out on the beach under a blanket of stars.

It was breathtaking experience to look up and realize just how small we really are.” Mark

5. Growing Stronger by Overcoming Obstacles

We believe in “Challenge by Choice” and there are plenty of natural challenges on a wilderness adventure. These challenges help them grow, and force the group to work together and communicate clearly to solve their problems. These are valuable life skills that will help them succeed in any setting for years to come.

“There were several moments when I wanted to give up and stop padlding. But there was a

Jesus quote on my paddle that said, “Love others like you love yourself” and I knew there were other people in the boat

who were depending on me, and that helped me push through and find the strength to keep going.” Sue

“I got to see in a very real way that working together is a better way to succeed than trying to do it by yourself.

At least, when you’re tyring to get your canoe off a rock. ” Maxim

6. Deeper Friendships, Stronger Communities

The relationships you can build when you’re out there in the wilderness, undistracted, with plenty of time to bond, having fun together….It’s unlike anything else. These relationships are deep and real and last a long time.

“You don’t go through something like that and NOT get closer to the people you’re with.” Hannah

“We grew closer together by laughing at all the hardships together.” Griffin

7. Take Pride in Learning Hands-On Skills

How to steer a canoe, how to read a river and know where is safe to go, how to build a fire even if it’s raining, how to tie knots and set up hammocks, how to cook an entire meal for twelve people over a fire, just to name a few! These are cool skills that youth can take pride in knowing and have fun practicing.

“I learned so much, and I don’t even think I know all the ways I’ve grown yet.

I need to go home and process it a bit more.” Sarah

“I realized how much I took for granted. We slept in tents and cooked over fires because it was fun.

But some people live like that because they have to. It was eye-opening.” Joseph

8. How to Find Peace & Persevere When Things Don’t Go According to Plan

It rains out there. Every year, a camper loses a shoe to the mud. Things break. But it doesn’t matter, because we can respond with Grit and Grace. We can keep smiling and keep going. And it’s amazing how often the the hard things turn into the highlight of the trip.

“The highlight of the week was actually when we swamped.

The guides called it “Unplanned Swimming”. I thought it would be scary, but we were fine.

And afterwards I wasn’t so scared anymore.” Collin

“The first night I tripped in the river and got soaked, and it was really frustrating.

And then the next day was pouring and I got soaked again, and I realized that I was as wet as I could get,

so it didn’t really matter that I had fallen into the river. And being angry about it wasn’t going to get me any drier,

so I was able to let go of my frustration.” Elisabeth

Amnicon Trips are Easy to Plan! https://amnicon.org/amnicon-trips-are-easy-to-plan/ Wed, 05 Oct 2022 18:02:12 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=7108

Planning a Summer Trip for your Youth Group Doesn’t Have to be Hard.

If you’re working in ministry it’s probably safe to say that you’ve got a lot on your plate right now. You work incredibly hard to support the kids in your youth group, and help them experience God’s presence in their lives. They deserve that much, don’t they? And you’re the kind of good-hearted person who wants to give them that.

Bringing your youth group on a summer trip is a great way to help them bond deeply, grow personally, and truly experience God’s presence. When planning a trip at Amnicon, we want to make it as easy for you as possible, so that the kids can have the best experience possible.

Here’s what it looks like to plan a trip at Amnicon:

The bonds of friendships are strengthened in the wilderness.

1. Pick your dates and trip type.

Picking the dates is usually the place to start. Does your church always do a trip the same week every year? Do you have other events that you need to work around? Let’s start there and see where we land. Picking the best dates usually just means starting a conversation with us. Fill our a contact form and we’ll reach out to you shortly!

Amnicon has LOTS of different kinds of adventure & retreat experiences to choose from. No matter what your group’s age is, or their experience level, or how many people might be interested in coming…we can create a powerful experience for them. Click here to see the different kinds of adventures that we offer. And if you fill our a contact form, we’d be happy to help you choose the best trip for your group.

2. Register & Deposit

Once we’ve decided your group’s dates & trip type, we’ll send you a customized Service Agreement to sign and return to us with a deposit. A signed service agreement and paid deposit secures your trip, and then people can start registering as participants on your trip!

A team of women work together to pull a 35' Montreal Canoe onto shore in the Apostle Islands

3. Promote & Prepare!

You don’t have to do this alone! We understand how much work it is to promote events, and get people to sign up for things. We want to make this as easy as possible for you so we’ve prepared a BUNCH of resources to help promote your trip. We’ll send you all these resources as soon as we receive your group deposit (or sooner, if it makes sense).

Here’s the promotional materials we’ve prepared for you:
  • Promotional Videos – We’ve got a promo video for each type of trip that we offer, and we also have a few that generally promote the Amnicon experience. Sharing a video with your youth makes a great ‘first impression’ to help get people excited to sign up.
  • Poster to hang up- We’ll mail you a poster that you can hang in the church foyer or the youth room. We’ll send you multiple posters if you’d like too! Each poster is 11″ x 17″, and has room for you to write in your group’s dates and trip cost. It’s a great visual reminder for them each week that this experience is coming up.
  • Customized Website Dashboard – We’ll create a webpage specifically designed for your group. The URL will be something like: www.amnicon.org/insertyourchurchesnamehere.  This webpage will describe what the trip is like, include your group’s dates, answer some Frequently Asked Questions, and have links for participants to sign up. We can customize this page a lot, to suit your group’s needs.
  • Social Media Post Templates – We’ve already made social media posts that you can tweak with your group’s dates & cost and publish on your own FB & IG accounts. We’re happy to share these with you so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel!
  • Zoom & In-Person Promotions- It’s fun to bring in outside faces & voices. And when someone from camp can come speak to your youth, we can help answer questions, provide reassurance, and get people excited about coming. We LOVE getting to meet prospective campers, and it can provide good continuity for the kids who are coming. If you’re going to do any kind of interest or informational meeting, we would love to be involved with that. Having someone from camp come speak can take a lot of pressure off your shoulders!
  • Google Drive Folders – with pictures, logos, a Power Point presentation, and a printable flier all featuring the specific kind of trip your group will be doing. You’re welcome to download & use all these resources if you’d like!

Adventure in Service!

You want to help your youth grow personally, build community, and see God’s presence in the world. A service learning trip will help them look beyond themselves and show them how gifted and strong they are. They’ll experience the satisfaction of a job well done, and see the power of community as they work together towardsd a mission, supporting each other along the way and making a difference in the world.

Amnicon is proud to partner with Service Learning Camps to create powerful experiences for your youth group. SLC facilitates service learning opportunities in the Duluth/Superior area. Amnicon provides the food and the housing. We also have lots of free time activities available on our site. Together, it creates a fun and meaningful experience for your youth group that’s always affordable and easy to plan. What could be better than that?

Service Learning trip

What does a typical week look like?

You’ll arrive at Amnicon in the afternoon or evening of the first day to settle in and explore our site. We have several hiking trails, a big lawn for playing games, a beautiful river for swimming & canoeing, and an enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior…the biggest lake in the world! Just being here together is a community-building experience that your group will love.

Amnicon can provide all the meals, and be flexible with meal times to suit your schedule. Each day starts with breakfast in the pavilion, and then as soon as you’ve gone through the breakfast line we’ll set out the lunch stuff so you can pack your own bagged lunches. After breakfast you’ll head out to meet up with SLC and do your service project for the day. You can either come back to Amnicon for dinner in the evening and hang out here on site, or you can do dinner in town somewhere and spend your evening doing fun activities in the city.

Throughout the day, you can sprinkle in devotions and Bible studies with your group if you’d like to do that. We have an outdoor chapel you’re welcome to use, otherwise the picnic pavilion, any one of our several outdoor fire pits, and our sandy beach also make excellent locations to gather together and dig deep into life.

    Flexibility Matters!

SLC & Amnicon both value being flexible. Are you looking for a shorter week? Does your group need something in particular? There are a lot of ways we can be flexible to better accommodate your group. Ask your questions. Share your preferences. Let’s make this the best possible experience for the youth!

    What about free time activities?

Playing together isn’t just about having fun. Having fun together helps form strong community bonds. When you’re done with your service learning projects for the day, your youth are going to want to relax and unwind to get ready for the next day of service. We have lots of fun outdoor activities on our site – hiking, swimming, canoeing, campfires – all at no additional cost. There are also lots of fun things to do nearby if you want to spend the evening playing in town, such as visiting the shops in Canal Park, going to the roller rink in Superior, bowling, and more.

      Summer Internships at Amnicon! https://amnicon.org/summer-internships/ Thu, 16 Dec 2021 16:09:43 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=6271

All of Amnicon’s Summer Jobs Can Also Be Summer Internships!

Did you know that any of our summer jobs can be turned into an internship? It’s actually not that hard. We’ll work with you and your advisor to create a one-of-a-kind summer internship. When the internship is designed with you in mind, you know you’ll get the most out of it.

Past interns have majored in Environmental Sciences, Exercise Science, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation Management, Philosophy, and even Criminology. We could easily adapt our summer jobs to create summer internships for students majoring in business management, nonprofit administration, social work, psychology, forestry, graphic design, accounting, marketing, and more. No matter what you major is, if you’re interested in working at Amnicon we can find a way to bring your studies into your job position.

How Does It Work? Summer Internships

Each summer internships is custom built to the intern. Every school has different requirements, and every major has a different focus. Amnicon values being flexible, and we’re willing to do whatever your school requires to create the summer internship position.

Usually it means that we’ll focus a portion of your work responsibilities on the tasks that most closely relate to your major. Are you an accounting major? Work on our Base Team, and we’ll hand off several accounting projects to you. Graphic Design? Help our Director of Outreach design next year’s publications! Social Work? Let’s get you working directly with youth from underprivileged backgrounds as a Wilderness Guide.

In addition to focusing your job responsibilities to suit your major, many schools also require summer interns to write weekly reflections or something similar. But that’s not too hard!

Set Yourself Up & Set Yourself Apart!

The whole point of a summer internships is to prepare you for life after graduation. You’ll learn valuable skills like leadership, resourcefulness, problem solving, effective communication, and more. We’ve had more than one summer staffer come back to tell us that their experience at Amnicon helped them feel like they could take on anything.

Working at a Wilderness Camp also sets you apart from all the other job candidates out there. You’ll have interesting stories to tell about overcoming obstacles, working as part of a team, and communicating with people from different backgrounds. You’ll have demonstrated a level of courage and confidence that will appeal to any employer.

      Let’s Get Started!

      1. Apply for a job. Click here to see the summer jobs we have available this year. Apply for the one that seems most appealing to you, and mention on your application that you’d like this position to be an internship.

      2. Contact your advisor. Your school may have some requirements we need to fulfill in order to qualify as an internship location. Find out what they are, and let us know! Usually it’s a simple matter of completing some paperwork, and we’re happy to do that! We just need to know what to do.

      3. Call Brad. Don’t feel shy about reaching out! We love hearing from prospective employees and interns. Set up an interview, ask your questions, and let him know what you need.

      Amnicon Adventures Are Always Affordable! https://amnicon.org/amnicon-adventures-are-always-affordable/ Tue, 14 Dec 2021 23:26:01 +0000 https://amnicon.org/?p=6231

      Affordability Matters.

We mean it when we say that we never want money to be the reason that would stop someone from coming to Amnicon. Our adventure trips are high quality experiences that will help your youth grow personally, build community, and experience God’s presence in awe-inspiring ways. But a high quality experience doesn’t have to mean a high price tag.

Keeping our trips affordable means that you can spend less energy fundraising, and makes it possible for more people from all walks of life to be able to come.

We get that when you see the “Full Group Rate”, there might be some sticker shock. But don’t let that stop you! If you want to come on an Amnicon adventure, we want to be flexible and accommodating to help you get here. Here’s how we keep our trips affordable.

      1. Camper-Scholarships Are Available to EVERY group and camper.

We have a community of supporters who believe in the power of these wilderness experiences and want to ensure that everyone can come regardless of their financial situation. Applying for camper-ships is easy! Just let one of our Directors know that you need financial assistance and we’ll make it happen. Our camper scholarships are not restricted to people of a particular income level. We don’t make you jump through any hoops to receive financial assistance either. If you’re willing to engage in conversation with us about what your group can pay, we’re willing to work with you to get you here. Even if that means your group can’t pay anything, we still want you to come.

      2. Small Group Rates Are Available

We charge a “Per Group” rate for our trips. Each type of trip can accommodate a different size of group. And we totally get that if you’re only anticipating a small number of people will sign up, that “Per Group” rate can get pretty expensive pretty quickly. If you’re bringing 5 or fewer people, we have several trips that offer a Small Group rate. We’ll still provide the same awesome community-building, wilderness-based adventure for you. But knowing that your group is going to be smaller helps us be more flexible with staffing and other logistics in the background, and we can pass those savings along to you.

      3. Additional Discounts Are Available

Every year we offer additional discounts as well. If you bring multiple groups, you’re eligible for a discount. If you bring both a summer trip and a winter retreat, you’re eligible for a discount. If you refer another group to come, you’re eligible for a discount. If you just need a discount…YOU’RE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT!

Just communicate with us while you’re planning your trip, and we’ll make sure the price works for you.

      4. We’d Love To Support Your Fundraising Efforts

Many groups plan on fundraising for their summer trips, regardless of what the cost is. If you know that you’ll be fundraising this year, we’d love to help you out with that! Can we come speak at a fundraising event? Are you doing a silent auction? We could donate some auction items! Just let us know!

      Don’t Hesitate To Reach Out!

I promise that we are fair and easy to work with! Just start the conversation and we’ll figure it out from there. Our mission is not to make money. Our mission is to guide people to experience Grace and Growth in the Wilderness, and we want to do that for as many people as possible.

Let’s start planning your group’s trip today!
