FORMAT

Six-match guarantee. Pool matches will begin Friday at 1:00 pm. There will be POOL PLAY for Saturday morning after Friday’s matches. Saturday matches will begin at 8 am. Tournament play will begin Sunday at 8 am with GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE divisions. ALL teams will be playing Sunday morning matches in tournament bracket play. Matches will be best 2-of-3 sets. First two sets to 21, cap at 23. Third set ONLY if necessary. Third set to 15, cap at 17.

We will begin matches up to 45 minutes early, as time allows. Please be ready to play.

The Friday pool play schedule will be posted as soon as possible following registration closing. The Saturday pool play schedule will be posted after the conclusion of play on Friday. The Sunday tournament bracket schedule will be posted after the conclusion of play on Saturday.

DIVISIONS

New for 2026…We have divided Varsity and Junior Varsity into subdivisions (3 for Varsity; 2 for Junior Varsity) to allow coaches and team managers to select the level of play that would be most appropriate for their team. The intent is to give teams as many competitive games throughout the weekend as possible. Teams may be moved from their preferred subdivision if needed to make the format work. You can find the subdivision descriptions in the “Divisions” section below.

ROSTERS

Teams DO NOT need to list rosters on the registration form until you show up for the tournament. Properly completed BGSG team entry forms, including parental signatures, are due at check-in 45 minutes prior to the team’s first scheduled game. There will be no limit on number of players listed on the team rosters. All players must be a member of the school’s Fall 2026 team. To participate in Junior Varsity, the player must be an 11th grader or less as of the fall of 2026. The KHSAA has ruled that volleyball is not subject to the scrimmage limitations and coaching restrictions. High school teams, together with their coaches, may participate in the BGSG and play WILL NOT count against the two scrimmage limitation nor does it count against tournament limitations.

FORMAT

This event will follow a showcase format with each team playing three games.

ELIGIBILITY

Players must be a member of the school’s Fall 2026 team. To participate in Junior Varsity, the player must be a 10th grader or less as of the Fall of 2026. Juniors may NOT play on JV teams. There may be a maximum number of teams allowed in each division. Properly completed BGSG team entry form and a roster with name/number/class and their participant medical examination forms which include signatures by the parent and the doctor, must be with them at check in and/or the time of play. These are due at headquarters on site one hour prior to the teams first scheduled game. High School division players may play either on JV or Varisty, NOT both.

ENTRIES

ONLY High School division may delay submitting the completed player rosters until check-in prior to the first game. All divisions may have a maximum number of entries allowed. Entries may also be limited based on availability of fields and certified officials. There must be a minimum of four teams per division in order to play. A Youth team or player may not enter more than one division. A High School player may play either on JV or Varsity, NOT both.

ROSTERS

For High School divisions, the completed BGSG team entry form and an official roster with name/number/class and their participant medical examination forms which include signatures by the parent and the doctor, must be with them at the time of check in and/or time of play.

TEAM REPRESENTATIVE

Every team must submit the name and phone number of a volunteer to act as a team representative for as long as their team participates in the tournament. The duties will begin 45 minutes before their team’s game and end prior to the start of their team’s game. Team representative will act as a liaison between your team and tournament officials. The entry form will be considered incomplete without this information and therefore will not be processed.

Policies

REGISTRATION

High School soccer teams may check-in on-site at the field before your first game. Check-ins should be completed no later than ONE hour before your first game for all divisions. High Schools will only need to show their school physical forms specific for athletics. Addition of players must present proof of age and have medical waiver signed. In the event that a game schedule must be changed after the distribution of schedules, the revised schedule will be available at check-in and the headquarters tent at the venue. It is the responsibility of each coach to check with the officials at check-in at the headquarters tent at their playing site to determine if schedule changes have been made.

SCHEDULE

The home team is listed first. In case of a conflict on uniform colors, KHSAA uniform policies will be followed. Every attempt will be made for all games to be played at the scheduled times, unless delayed by bad weather, or other events beyond the control of the tournament host. The game schedule is extremely tight. All warmups MUST be done off the field. Please be ready to play at your designated game time. Also, please leave the field as quickly as possible at the conclusion of your game. Please be sure to leave your bench area clean.

All High School teams will play a total of three games unless requested or notified by BGSG staff.

TRAFFIC FLOW

Masterson Station: We strongly encourage that all soccer teams use Spurr Road as their entrance to the park. All soccer traffic will be routed out the Spurr Road exit.

Woodford Youth Soccer Association: Please allow extra time for entry into the park.

BLUEGRASS STATE GAMES TOURNAMENT RULES

HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS MAY PLAY JV OR VARSITY BUT NOT BOTH. JUNIORS MAY NOT PLAY IN THE JV DIVISION. SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS MAY PLAY JV.

Except as otherwise provided herein, the NHFS shall apply to any and all competitions sponsored by this association.

JV will play two (2) 30-minute halves (running clock)
Varsity will play two (2) 35-minute halves (running clock)
JV: 5 minute half-time
Varsity: 10 minute half-time
No overtime or added time

FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

Disqualifications follow KHSAA policies and will be reported to KHSAA via the KHSAA Arbiter portal. The player/coach cannot participate in any additional BGSG soccer game until the suspension is served with the team that it was received with. The on-site Tournament Committee may impose additional sanctions as deemed necessary, including suspension for the entire tournament. KHSAA and the school of any player, coach, team, or supporters shall, except in the case of referee assault, have the responsibility for imposing additional sanctions should the circumstances warrant these with regard to any matter arising from this tournament. All red or yellow cards issued and any matter involving the conduct of a team, its players, its coaches, or its supporters will be reported to KHSAA and the BGSG organization. All matters involving referee assault shall, in accordance with NFHS policy, be referred immediately to KHSAA.

PROTESTS

The official referee shall be the sole judge on the field of play, and the referee’s decision shall be final. NO protests based on a referee’s judgment will be allowed. Protests concerning rules or eligibility shall be made in writing and must be given to the on-site tournament committee within 15 minutes of the end of the game in question. All protests must be accompanied by $500 nonrefundable cash to the BGSG. No verbal protests will be heard. The on-site tournament committee will rule on all protests as soon as possible.

COACHING AND SPORTSMANSHIP

All age groups require that only one coach and no more than two assistant coaches occupy the team side of the field with their players. Coaches and players are to remain on their half of the sideline no closer than 10 yards or farther than 30 yards from the centerline. No artificial noisemakers, such as air horns, are allowed.

INCLEMENT WEATHER/STOPPAGE OF PLAY

In the case of severe weather conditions such as tornadoes, persistent lightning, or other life-threatening conditions or if the conditions are such, they present a danger to the players or the fields, these are the guidelines that will be followed. The on-site tournament committee will be responsible for inclement weather decisions.

Every attempt will be made to play the matches. Please be prepared to accept that in the worst-case scenario, some fields may become unplayable so that matches may have to be decided by penalty kicks or by the flip of a coin. Matches which have been stopped will be resumed on the same field if possible. Teams not on the field 10 minutes after play is to resume will forfeit. The on-site tournament committee will decide when the fields are safe for play to resume. The length of time delays will be determined by the on-site tournament committee. Injury time will be added at the referee’s discretion.

If first half is finished, it is considered a game
If a game has played 20 minutes in first half, it will be considered a complete half
Anything less than above rules will have to be played and same amount of time played in second half

WEIGH-INS: Weigh-ins will be on site 5:30-7:30 PM on the Friday before the event. There will be NO Saturday weigh-ins. There will also be remote weigh-in sites throughout the state. Proof of age must be submitted at weigh-in.

PROOF OF AGE: All wrestlers (except Open division) must submit proof of age at weigh-ins on Friday. Kentucky driver’s license, birth certificate, AAU card or USA wrestling cards are acceptable. If wrestlers are under age 18, parents must sign on the provided line on the entry form that the parent has read the medical release form and waiver statement and agrees with its contents.

FORMAT: Round robin brackets

PAIRINGS: Pairings will be done on Friday night. Tournament officials may combine weight classes or age groups if not enough participants in a category. Brackets will be posted on Saturday morning. All entries are final at weigh-ins. Changes must be made by 10 am on Saturday morning. The tournament director(s) have the final decision on any weight class. This is a bracketed tournament and pairings will follow high school rules as set forth by the KHSAA. There will be separation by counties where possible.

RULES: Mat rules will be KHSAA rules for scholastic wrestling (folkstyle). Length of periods may change depending on the number of participants.

EQUIPMENT: All entries except Schoolboy, Novice, Midget, and Bantam must wear a singlet. Headgear is required for Bantam through Schoolboy and can be purchased at local sporting goods stores.

AWARDS: Wrestling will be to four places with medals awarded to the top three. Awards will be presented as they are earned.

Divisions

Weight classes and divisions for wrestling at BGSG will be determined by using the Madison system. We will use a wrestlers weight, age, and experience to best group wrestlers of pools of 3-6 wrestlers. The pools will be drawn after the weigh-ins are complete on Friday night.

Wrestlers will be pooled within two years of age together and within 10% of weight (this may be slightly altered depended on participation). Also, the commissioner will be taking into consideration the amount of experience to help try to evenly determine pools.

This system is designed to get the best and most matches based off the participants at the event. Once pools are set, they will wrestle round robin to determine placement.

Event Details

FORMAT

Track/Field will follow a rolling schedule with all competition divided by age group and gender categories. This means we will run one event after another starting oldest to youngest women, then oldest to youngest men, then move to the next event. We do not have a definite time schedule for each event.

SCHEDULE: Will be posted the week of the event.

RULES

A combination of modified USA Track & Field and National Federation will be observed. A participant may enter no more than four (4) individual events. Relays will not count as one of these four. Pick up relay cards at registration on Saturday or on the day of race. Relay cards must be turned into registration by 1 pm on the day of the relay. Competitors of any age may enter Open Division. A photocopy of your birth certificate or driver’s license (other official documents may be substituted) MUST accompany each participant’s entry. Disputes concerning competition must be officially filed with the Rules Committee within thirty minutes upon completion of the event. All decisions of Rules Committee are final.

Event Details

IMPORTANT:

Participants may enter a maximum of three events (1) Age Group (2) Open Singles (3) Doubles.
All matches (except the Open Singles Final) will be best of five matches and to 11 points.
Players may not play in more than one doubles event. Please select one only: Open Doubles, Age 45 and Up Doubles, or Recreational Doubles (Combined Rating Under 2000 USATT or Committee decision).
Participants entering Doubles must submit the partner’s entry form in one envelope to assure being properly partnered. Players without partners will be matched per tourney committee discretion.
USATT rules apply. Sandpaper paddles NOT allowed.
Dark clothing and gym shoes required. Solid white t-shirts will not be allowed.
All USATT rated players must place their latest rating or estimate on the entry form.
Please be available to the Control Desk 20 minutes prior to the listed start times of the events
Participants will be defaulted if not available to the Control Desk within 7 minutes after being called for a match (unless prior arrangements have been made with the Control Desk). If you are withdrawing from a tournament, PLEASE let us know ASAP.
Events will not start earlier than scheduled; however, some events may start later than scheduled. Please limit pre-match warm-ups to two minutes and return match results promptly to the Control Desk. In case of large numbers, warm-ups may be cut to one minute.
In the case of a no show, tournament committee reserves the right to alter the draw to achieve a competitive balance
A minimum of three entries will be needed for competition to be held in any event. Events that do not have 3 entries will be combined with the next higher age group within that division unless it is the highest age group, in which case it will be combined downward.
Food, drinks, and snacks will be available at the Morgan County Wellness Center all day!
Continued arguing with the Umpire, Referee, or Tournament Director after a decision has been made as official will be grounds for disqualification from the event. A verbal warning will be issued first, but continued disruption and argumentation over a call will not be tolerated. If you have an issue, ask the Tournament Director for a referee or umpire, their decision will be final on any play-related issue or dispute.
Tennis Shoes Only!
Electric Devices MUST be silenced during the tournament. This can cause unnecessary disruption or faults. Treat cell phones like you are in a movie theatre.
Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult (not the tournament committee, Wellness Center Staff, etc. Children may not be running around the playing area or near the playing area-this is a safety matter and also to prevent disruption of game play.
Do NOT argue with another player over a call. If the situation cannot be rectified between the two players (hopefully it can), please see the Tournament Director or Referee immediately. Example: someone incorrectly calling the game score.
Please register early! It helps with planning, scheduling, and preparation.
For the event to reach its maximum potential, we would appreciate it if every player would contact other players and invite them. It makes the event more fun and exciting for everyone when we have a huge turnout!

FORMAT:

Singles: Round robin groups of three, four or five with the top two finishers of each round robin advancing to a single elimination bracket. However, events with 5 players or less will play one round robin group only with the top three finishers being medalists. Tournament committee reserves the right to modify the format depending on the number of entries received.

Open Singles Final will be Best of 7 games.

Age: Age as of September 19, 2026.

Equipment: 11 Butterfly Centrefold 25 Tables; 3 Joola Atlanta Tables. Total: 14

Ball: Butterfly R40+
