Slow Motherhood December Bucket List

Welcome back Friend,

Grab yourself a tasty drink and let’s chat – shall we?!

Welcome December!!

We have officially reached the last month of 2024 and WOW it feels crazy that we will be entering the new year in just a few weeks! Mama, I hope you’ve been enjoying these monthly bucket lists and made many sweet memories with your family. I have so much fun making them and love checking them off with my littles.

The December Bucket List

I’ve created another list of fun activities for you and your littles to check off for this month. These fun, simple activities are meant to help you slow down and really soak in all the joys that motherhood and the seasons have to offer. Creating seasonal rhythms and traditions are what makes the years so special as they seem to quickly fly by. It’s all about those special memories we are creating!

Don’t forget to take time for you, mama.

You will notice a few of these activities are specifically for just you to enjoy and fill your cup. Although motherhood plays a vital role for us in this stage of life, we need to create a healthy habit of allowing us to have that special time in our adult world; fostering good relationships and pursuing hobbies.

This is just the beginning

There are so many more ways to enjoy a slower life and I hope that that these 18 are the perfect start on your slow motherhood journey. More activities to enjoy with your littles are; baking a treat once a week, reading snuggled up together, handcrafting and artwork, going out in nature (bonus points if you have them bring their nature journals). Again these are all bonding opportunities that will create special memories in the years to come.

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

method

    1. Preheat your oven to 425f and prep your muffin pans with liners
    2. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, add your bananas, pumpkin, eggs, sugar, cooled butter, and vanilla  – mix thoroughly.
    3. In a medium sized bowl, add you salt, baking soda and powder, pumpkin spice, and flours together.
    4. Slowly add in the dry ingredients into your large bowl, where the wet ingredients are. Mix until fully combined
    5. Fold in your walnuts and chocolate chips – be careful not to overmix your batter.
    6. Using an ice cream scooper, fill your muffin tins up.

    Make the streusel topping:

    1. In a medium bowl, add all your ingredients together.
    2. Mix until combined, you want clumps.
    3. Top your uncooked muffins with the streusel.
    4. Bake at 425f for 5 minutes – this creates the dome on your muffin
    5. After 5 minutes TURN YOUR OVEN TEMP DOWN TO 350f and bake for 12-15  minutes.
    6. Allow muffins to cool for 10-15 minutes on a cooling rack before serving.

      Father’s Day Gift Guide 2024

      Hey Friend,

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and if your husband or dad is anything like mine, they usually will say they don’t need anything for Father’s Day. which makes it that much more difficult trying to shop for them. One thing I know that usually is always a hit, is a place or activity that we can do as a family, Shane’s rising sign is Cancer and quality time is one of his top love languages soooo family time is something that he values very highly. Other options can be courses or a class to something he’s been wanting to learn or gain more knowledge in. These are all things I believe men enjoy the most, however us women love to give gifts to those we see workings so hard for our families – plus many of the “manlier” items usually go on sale around this time, so why not take advantage of them??

      Slow Motherhood June Bucket List

      Welcome back Friend,

Grab yourself a tasty drink and let’s chat – shall we?!

      Welcome June!!

As we get closer to summer we start to notice our fruit trees are starting to yield their harvests, the weather is getting warmer (yet this year it doesn’t seem to be getting any dryer). Flowers are continuing to fill our homes with their home and peaceful frequencies. With slow motherhood, we still want to continue to declutter and keep our home tidy. But hopefully your littles are spending more of their free time outdoors and helping to keep the home in a state of calm.

       Welcome back Friend,

Grab yourself a tasty drink and let’s chat – shall we?!

      Hello May!!

Let’s bring in the spring season with slowness and memories!  I hope that these monthly bucket lists help you to remember to slow down and enjoy this beautiful journey we’ve been given. Mothering is such hard work, it transforms you in every way possible, but lets not lose sight on what is most important– the childhood we are giving our children, but also the motherhood we are giving ourselves! Remember to fill your cup as well and to have fun in the chaos as much as possible!! Like we always say, time moves so fast and our babies will be grown before we know it.

      The May Bucket List

Printable Slow Living Daily Checklist for Mamas (free download)

      Hey Friend,

Grab yourself a tasty drink and lets chat – shall we?!

As mamas we’ve come to realize that life has started accelerating at a faster pace as each year goes by. With four daughters and one more baby on the way, I have definitely fall victim to this many times throughout my motherhood journey. That’s why last year I decided to start researching into living a slower paced life. && I have created this simple easy to start checklist for the busy mama who wants to slow things down and enjoy the simple moments in life.

      The Newsletter

Snag my “Crafting Wonder” Activity Sheets – a mama’s must have!

**You'll also be subscribed to my monthly newsletter, where I share fun freebies, recent posts, and a little bit of magic!

      The magic of slowing down

Adding simple activities throughout your day may seem like the opposite of slowing down however, they are either tasks to help save you time in the long run, or something fulfilling keeping your cup full. Whether it’s immersing yourself in a book each day or honing in on a new craft you’ve always wanted to try but never could “find the time”, allowing yourself to take part in these activities will not only give you joy, but the example you are setting for your children will be tenfold.

I notice the more I sit down to read a book, the more Ava will pick up hers or the younger girls ask me to read to them. The more I am in the kitchen baking, the more opportunities I have to teach my girls the skill of baking or creating giggles in the kitchen while everyone tries to sneak a lick at the spoon. And let me tell you, nothing gives you more pride than when you have created a beautiful article of clothing made by your own hands for one of your littles.

      Take time for you, mama.

Most of these activities on this list are specifically for you to enjoy and to fill your cup. Waking up early was the hardest (& still is) for me, but I can not express how rewarding it truly is to start you day off in silence and slowness. Most of the other items on this checklist can be done during this alone time as well. Another one that I found more challenging was the gatherings, but when I made it a priority and added it to my personal monthly checklist I was so so fufilling to sit and chat with friends. As we venture into motherhood, sometimes we find oursevles on an island instead of in the midsts of a village. Don’t allow your self to drift away from community just because you became a mama.

      This is just the beginning

There are so many more ways to enjoy a slower life and I hope that that these 12 will help you on your slow motherhood journey. Like I mentioned above, most of these activities are just for you mama, but there are also a few that can be done with your littles to enjoy that time together such as, baking a treat once a week, reading, handcrafting and artwork, going out in nature (bonus points if you have them bring their nature journals). Again these are all bonding opportunities that will create special memories in the years to come.

How to use the slow living checklist printable

      1. Start by printing out the free printable – click the link down below
      2. Frame or hang up somewhere you will see often. (I like to frame because the glass allows me to checkoff and erase each week without having to reprint)
      3. Start off “slow” and focus on the items that will save you time (waking up early, decluttering, meal planning) and add in the items that you feel you can as the month goes on without stressing yourself out.
      4. Enjoy living a slower paced life within your motherhood journey.

Download your own Slow Living Checklist file here

       Make it a whimsical experience

Once you get the hang of the items on this checklist, be sure that you are adding intention into each item. Opt out of the microwave and premade creamer for you coffee and instead create your own creamer while using a kettle to boil your water. Remember, there is peace in slowness. Braid your hair and add delicate ribbons to match that homemade dress you made. Try to create more beauty in the tasks you do and add some whimsy into the things you make. I hope the memories made during this time will become the foundation of cherished moments you’ll remember for years to come.

So, let’s raise our teacups (or whatever tasty drink you chose) to the slowness of motherhood and the joys that come with it!

Summer Scavenger Hunt – free printable

      Hey Friend,

Grab yourself a tasty drink and lets chat – shall we?!

As the warm sun caresses our faces and the scent of blooming flowers fills the air, I can’t help but revel in the joys of summertime. It’s a magical season where children’s laughter can be heard and their little minds are filled with wonder and delight.

      The Magic of Summertime

Ah, summertime! The season of endless possibilities and carefree days. As a mama, I cherish this time of year, for it grants us the gift of nature’s bounty and boundless exploration. It’s a time to slow down, savor each moment, and relish in the simple pleasures that warm our souls.

We homeschool year round, but relax a bit more during the summers and really lean in to the unschooling approach, allowing the girls to guide their interests and nature is always a main focus! As our garden finally starts producing its fruits and blooms, the girls have been turned their focus towards the sun and all its glory – but it’s not just our garden that needs this source…

Nurturing Little Sunbeams – A Dose of Sunshine

As the golden sun graces the horizon, it brings not just warmth and light, but also the magic of Vitamin D. This extraordinary nutrient acts as a guardian for our littles, nurturing their growth and ensuring their health blossoms like the flowers in our garden!

Vitamin D, often referred to as the “sunshine vitamin,” plays a vital role in the absorption of calcium, a fundamental element for strong bones and teeth. As children bask in the sun’s gentle embrace, their skin produces Vitamin D, which collaborates with their bodies to build sturdy bones that will support them on their endless adventures. A fortified skeletal foundation paves the way for robust growth, resilience, and the freedom to explore the world with boundless energy!

Beyond its role in bone health, Vitamin D is a powerful ally in bolstering the immune system. As our little ones dash through the grassy fields and climb trees like daring adventurers, the Vitamin D they receive helps fortify their immune defenses, shielding them from unwelcome invaders and helping them stay healthy and vibrant.

The Importance of Outdoor Adventures: Nature’s Classroom

In a world where technology beckons with its glowing screens, there’s an enchanting world that calls to our children – the great outdoors!! Nature is an enchanting classroom where lessons are not learned through textbooks but by using all of our senses.

Outdoors, our little ones are free to let their imaginations soar. They become intrepid explorers, scientists, and artists, unraveling the mysteries of the natural world through observation, touch, and play.

Beyond the enriching sensory experiences, outdoor adventures offer countless opportunities for learning and development. As they navigate uneven terrain, climb trees, and build sandcastles, children refine their motor skills and coordination. Nature becomes a canvas for their creativity, and each encounter with plants and creatures becomes a story that ignites their curiosity about the world around them.

But perhaps the most magical aspect of outdoor adventures is the way they foster connections – with nature, with each other, and with themselves. As siblings collaborate on building a fort and laughter echoes through the woods during a game of tag, or as they lie together on the grass to gaze at the star-studded sky, they forge unbreakable bonds that last a lifetime.

Let the Adventure Begin: The Scavenger Hunt

To celebrate the joys of summertime and the magic of Vitamin D, I’ve prepared a delightful treat for you and your little ones – a free summertime scavenger hunt printable! This whimsical activity will spark their sense of adventure as they explore the wonders of nature.

How to Use the Scavenger Hunt Printable

      1. Start by printing out the free printable – down below
      2. Arm your little explorers with a pencil/crayon/pen and a keen eye
      3. Let them embark on their journey of wonder
      4. You can choose to give them a bag/basket to collect their findings or go off the honesty policy and leave the items where nature intended them to be

As they venture outdoors, watch their eyes light up with excitement as they check off each treasure they find. Fill free to add more items depending on your location from twinkling fireflies to dainty wildflowers, from pebbles with heart-shaped patterns to fluffy clouds sailing across the sky. No matter what you decide to add – each discovery will fill their hearts with awe and ignite their love for the natural world.
