Autogem is powering up its sustainability ambitions after investing in 146 additional solar panels at its Wembley headquarters, taking the total number on site to 256 and significantly increasing its renewable energy generation.

The latest installation adds an 84kWp system, taking the combined capacity of our solar array to 128kWp and marking the next major step in our long-term investment in cleaner energy.

The expanded system is expected to supply around 51% of our electricity requirements across the year, while during the sunnier months between April and September, we anticipate generating enough solar power to meet 100% of our electricity demand during daylight hours – with surplus energy being fed back into the grid.

The investment comes at an important time for us, with our transition towards an increasingly electrified vehicle fleet also driving up electricity demand.

Managing Director Prashant Chopra said the two investments were therefore intrinsically linked.

“Our move towards electric vehicles has significantly increased our electricity usage, so expanding our solar capacity makes perfect sense,” he said. “We want to reduce our reliance on energy from the grid while making greater use of renewable power generated here at our own site.”
