If I were asked to pick the perfect hard rock song, it would be Stars by Hum. The whole album is amazing, and it didn’t get the kind of recognition it deserved. You start the track with a simple, quiet strum:
“She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she’s out back counting stars”

It’s relaxing, and you are at peace with the world. Then it repeats:
“She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she’s out back counting stars”

Then right at the word stars you get punched in the face with a sonic boom of energy. You are awake and ready for the rest of the song. The song continues with its ups and downs, but all in all it is a perfect example of what a rock song should be. The rest of the album is honestly as good. This album should have topped the charts.

Fun Fact: This album contains the song that was the background music for my MySpace profile.

Picture this – The background was flames, and the text boxes had images of a burned city in the rain, and the music started with, “I THOUGHT ABOUT FIRE IN THE SKY, I THOUGHT ABOUT FIRE! I THOUGHT ABOUT LOVE BURNING IN YOUR EYES, I THOUGHT ABOUT FIRE!”

It was pretty rad.
