Halie Behr conducted the auction, Lisa Corley received the T1D Changemaker Award and the event raised nearly $400,000 for a great cause! It was a true lighlight and dazzling fashion show showcasing designs by renowned New York designer Zang Toi. I especially loved the opportunity to take model portraits after the fashion show portion concluded:

While the snow totals in 2026, weren’t ideal, there were still fantastic winter activities to participate in:

After just winning gold in the Olympics, it was a joy to cross paths with Hilary Knight, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in women’s hockey history! She was humble, kind and funny!

Another highlight was musical guest Sheryl Crow. Singer, songwriter and incredibly fit and healthy (in her mid-60’s), she sounded great!!

It was exciting to cross paths with one of the greatest female basketball players in history, but multiply that excitement tenfold when her team asked for portraits! It’s wild to think Caitlin Clark is still only 24 and scratching the surface of her legend and fame:

I’ve been lucky enough to take pictures at the Santa Barbara Film Festival going back at least 20 years! I’d have to go to the archives to see the first few years photographed with film cameras… I especially enjoy both the small details and the wide shots to help show the size and scale of the event:

The following evening, legendary actor Jeff Bridges presented the American Riviera Award to actor Ethan Hawke:

The most fascinating (and challenging) nights of the festival is consistently the virtuoso awards, with the sheer number of stars on the same evening. Academy Award nominee Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Academy Award nominee Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Academy Award nominee Amy Madigan (Weapons), Academy Award nominee Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), Academy Award nominee Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), Sydney Sweeney (Christy), and Academy Award nominee Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another). After just a few interactions, I am no officially a big fan of Jacob Elordi and am confident he will become an A-list super star!!

On the final night I was able to photograph, the honorees were the star-studded stars from the movie One Battle After Another Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro. Their awards were presented by director Paul Thomas Anderson, and one of the highlights was the respect and admiration each actor showed for Anderson.

he parade is more than just a spectacle — it’s a celebration of Denver’s deep ranching and agricultural roots dating back to the early 1900s. For one afternoon, the city proudly leans into its “cowtown” history, blending Old West heritage with modern urban energy in a way few events can.

Located in an unprivileged neighborhood known as Cristo Rey, in Playa del Carmen, every child receives some form of scholarship.

It was in incredible privilege to visit the dwelling of several of the students. The most impactful was the palapa shown below:

The scene on the street watching parents dropping off the happy children to school was incredible:

Just check out the difference this non-profit school is making on the lives of these school children! I’m glad for the opportunity to visit and help support such a great cause!

The opening reception and dinner took place at the Hotel Emeline, a boutique hotel right on Church Street. There was a gorgeous kings table that was fun to photograph:

The final night banquet took place at the elegant and historic (1807) William Aiken House:

Another important landmark and part of the history of Cape Town is Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. It was a short ferry ride over to the island and an incredible tour of the island, first on a bus, then from a former prisoner to see the inside of the prison.

The next couple of days featured two memorable excursions from Cape Town—first to Boulders Beach and the dramatic coastline of the Cape of Good Hope, and then to the picturesque wine town of Stellenbosch and the Tokara Winery.

The journey continued with a flight to the northeastern corner of South Africa, where the remarkable 250-square-mile Sabi Sand Nature Reserve borders Kruger National Park and feels like stepping back in time.

From lions to leopards and wild dogs and so much more, the wildlife spotting was incredible and abundant!!

From the safari, we flew up to Zimbabwe to visit Victoria Falls and take a boat ride on the famous Zambezi River into Zambia. Victoria Falls is one of the world’s largest waterfalls and is known for the world’s largest sheet of falling water!

A personal highlight was visiting Victoria Falls’ famous baobab. Called ‘The Big Tree’ – it’s between 1,000 and 1,500 years old!
Thankful for another wonderful trip planned by Carousel Travel!
