Researchers continually study what makes your body tick. What are the root causes of your illness or disease? Do many diseases all lead back to the same problematic source? Increasingly, many roads seem to lead back to your liver bile duct and digestive health. But an even more important question is this one: What can I do or take to get my liver bile duct healthy? There are nutrients you can focus on getting into your diet for better liver function. Additionally, there are herbs that can support your liver as well. Coffee enemas can also help detoxify your liver bile duct. But there is a hidden gem to increase your liver function that most people aren’t aware of. That hidden gem is TUDCA. What Is TUDCA? Tauroursodeoxycholic acid, TUDCA, is a component of your bile acid. It’s used as a therapy for people that have any type of issue with the liver or liver bile duct. You only have small amounts of this amazing compound in your body. Increasing the amount of TUDCA in your body can help clear up issues you are having with your liver. Fun Fact: You may have only a trace, but the bile of Asian bears is almost 50% of this type of bile salt! Scientists think this is one of the reasons bears are able to hibernate as long as they do. How Is TUDCA Made? Bile salts are released into your intestines through your liver bile duct. Then the microbes in your gut metabolize the bile salts into ursodeoxycholic acid or UDCA. Later it is connected to a taurine molecule to create TUDCA. This is done in your body, but it can also be synthesized outside the body through the same process. But the microbes can’t do their job if we don’t give them bile salts to work with…READ MORE Call us if you are interested in ordering or want more information: 352-243-3588 |

]]>The post How to Increase Bile Flow Naturally for Better Health appeared first on Clermont Wellness Center.
]]>One of the primary functions of the liver is neutralizing and excreting toxins so that they can be removed from the body. After being neutralized, toxins excrete to several areas, but the main area is into the bile. So the bile is very important in the detoxification process in addition to the digestion process.
Studies show that healthy bile flow improves thyroid function, boosts metabolism, and can even accelerate weight loss. When it comes to thyroid function, it is estimated that hypothyroidism is 7 times more likely in people with reduced bile flow. Thyroid hormones relax the sphincter of Oddi, which controls the flow of bile into the small intestine. So if your thyroid and hormone levels are low, the sphincter tenses up and less bile can pass. This increases the risk of gallstones and lowers detoxification and emulsification of fat.
Unfortunately, our bile becomes sluggish and less efficient as we age. This is one of the reasons why bowel deficiency is especially common for people over 60. This often happens when there’s not enough bile to neutralize the chyme when it’s coming out, and now the body thinks it needs to reduce the production of hydrochloric acid. So often in these cases the stomach isn’t producing too much acid, but too little.
In addition to being able to neutralize the chyme in the body, bile also breaks down fats. These fats are needed to make hormones and to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, D, and K). If the bile becomes sluggish or sludgy, toxins can be recirculated and then other pathways can become clogged.
Low-quality bile is a common health problem, especially in older individuals. Because bile is costly to make, the body tends to recycle it. As it continues to be recycled, it becomes stagnant and toxins can be reabsorbed back into the body more easily. The following symptoms may result when your bile is stagnant and sluggish:
Along with considering these symptoms, I also use ZYTO technology to help me determine whether drainage pathways are clogged and bile is stagnant. If I see that the detoxification system and gastrointestinal system show up as out of range on a ZYTO bioscan, and I also see that liver and gallbladder are out of range, this can indicate that these pathways need some support to drain properly.
If any of the above symptoms and issues sound familiar to you, there are a number of natural remedies available to help you increase bile flow. Below are the tools I recommend using to de-sludge your bile for better health.
Lemon waterIf you choose just one thing from this list, I would highly recommend drinking lemon water every morning. Because you are detoxifying all night long, you are dehydrated, toxic, and very acidic when you wake up. Using organic lemon juice with about 16 ounces of filtered, room-temperature water first thing in the morning helps flush the liver and the kidneys and alkalizes & hydrates the body. And then I recommend waiting about 30 minutes after drinking that before having your morning cup of coffee or tea.
Ox bile or bile salts are often recommended for those with low bile production or no gallbladder. Basically, you need to be taking bile salts if you don’t have a gallbladder. Taking these with food helps with the emulsification of fats.
Though they aren’t very pleasant to taste, bitter foods help stimulate the bile and promote digestion. Fennel is in this group, and in
many countries, people eat this prior to a meal or after a meal. Along with bitter foods, there are also bitters you can buy in liquid form.
Beet root is a rich source of a plant compound betaine, which helps to thin the bile. It also can help prevent the formation of gallstones.
Choline helps you break down and digest fat. So if you have no gallbladder or have been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver, choline is a good supplement to take. It’s also involved in many other processes such as lipid transport, liver repair, nerve conductivity, brain development, and cognition. Sources of choline in food are beef, almonds, garlic, flour, navy beans, and amaranth.
Taurine aids detoxification, promotes increased bile acid production, and reduces cholesterol levels in the blood and the liver. A lot of vegans and vegetarians are typically deficient in taurine because it is derived from the organ meats and other animal tissues.
Produced in the pancreas, pancreatic lipase helps break down fats as a digestive enzyme. Supplementing with this enzyme can be helpful if you don’t have a gallbladder.
Coffee enemas are used to help detoxify the body and open up the bile duct system. It’s different than a regular enema because it
flushes the stagnant bile from the liver and the gallbladder. These enemas work because they go straight to the liver and help detoxify it. And it actually shortens the time it takes for the blood to circulate through the liver from about 6 minutes to about 3, which provides many detoxification benefits.
Castor oil packing is a great alternative to coffee enemas because it is very drawing. It can be very effective at cleansing the bile portion of the liver and gallbladder.
To do castor oil packing, follow these steps:
Dandelion rootIn addition to assisting with bile production and movement, dandelion root contains flavonoids that help flush toxins. It also helps with kidney drainage and liver decongestion. The root part of it is typically used, but eating the greens can actually help with bile production as well.

]]>The post PHYTOCANNABINOIDS AND THEIR BENEFITS appeared first on Clermont Wellness Center.
]]>To understand this, we must first talk about the Endocannabinoid system or ECS.
Our ECS has only recently been discovered, yet it is millions of years old and serves as the telecommunications network for the entire body. The ECS enables the brain and central nervous system to fine tune or balance tissue activity, a process called homeostasis. As you know, anyone interested in Natural Health is always striving to regain (and maintain) balance – or homeostasis – in order to reach optimum health.
Our ECS serves as the center of the wheel that keeps all the other systems working properly. The system includes molecules that act as messengers, called CANNABINOIDS. The cannainoids are released from cells and travel to other cells , telling them to increase or decrease their activity. They must, however, attach to receptors on those other cells in order to deliver the instructions.
There are two categories of natural cannabinoids: Endocannabinoids and Phytocannabinoids.
Endocannabinoids are naturally found in our cell membranes, but they must be liberated from the membranes (by enzymes) in order to travel to other cells and do their job.
Phytocannabinoids are made by plants and we get them by eating them. Clove, rosemary, oregano, carrot and flax all contain phytocannabinoids, but by far, the greatest concentration is in HEMP (Cannabis sativa).
A healthy ECS properly regulates; stress, memory, mood, inflammation, energy, sleep, metabolism, appetite, pain response, immune function, nerve signaling and muscle control.
Unhealthy lifestyles, environmental factors and aging, all can result in an unhealthy ECS, resulting in decreased production of endocannabinoids. We begin to produce fewer of the enzymes that liberate endocannabinoids so they begin to lose sensitivity and don’t respond well.
This is where supplementation of phytocannabinoids can be very beneficial! Hemp phytocannabinoids in particular can help improve ECS function. A few of the ways they work are: Improve the natural release of endocannabinoids our cells make; directly adhere to endocannabinoid receptors in our tissues, increase the amount of functional cannabinoids in the body and promote endocannabinoid receptor sensitivity and function.
The biggest challenge is what supplement do we choose? There are hundreds of products on the market – all claiming to be the best! Sifting through them can be a challenge because there are several factors to consider. Namely quality, purity and extraction process.
Want to learn more about ECS, Phytocannabinoids and how to find the best supplement for you? Join us for our informal “Tea and Chat”, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 9:00 am. Seating is limited, so please RSVP by June 19th at 352-243-3588. Class will be held at Clermont Wellness Center, 624 West Highway 50, Clermont, Fl 34711.

]]>The post 11 Natural Herbal Remedies That Have Been Used for Ages appeared first on Clermont Wellness Center.
]]>Next time consider using one of these natural herbal remedies that have been used by healers for ages to address uncomfortable symptoms. Herbal remedies come with fewer side effects and often cost less than prescription alternatives.
Here are 11 natural herbs that have been used for thousands of years to address pain and dysfunction. Find out if one of these garden-friendly remedies can make a difference for your health and wellness.
Often thought of as a culinary herb, rosemary has more to offer than adding flavor to a roasted chicken. This fragrant, woody evergreen has long been used to treat migraines as well as common aches and pains. Because rosemary contains salicylic acid, which is a forerunner of aspirin, it’s easy to see why it’s commonly applied as a topical treatment for arthritic and rheumatic pain. But rosemary’s value doesn’t stop there.
Powdered rosemary extract can reduce the number of carcinogens produced from cooking meat at high temperatures. If you love grilling up a burger or broiling a steak, try mixing in or adding rosemary to marinades before cooking. It’s even more effective when you combine rosemary with other healthful herbs like oregano, basil, garlic, or parsley. Keep in mind that rosemary is a powerful herb and should not be used if you’re pregnant or nursing without first consulting your healthcare professional.
It’s hard to believe that so many benefits could come from one plant source, but sage has been revered as an effective herb for assisting with everything from bleeding and ulcers to sore throats and coughs. The ancient Greek physician Dioscorides used it to clean sores, alleviate bleeding wounds, and alleviate symptoms of respiratory distress. Later, inhaling steam infused with sage was found to help asthma sufferers at the onset of an attack. Sage also became popular with midwives who used the herb to treat excessive menstrual bleeding, menopausal sweating, or help dry up mother’s milk.
The Chinese used sage as a digestive aid, making it a primary ingredient in tummy-taming teas. Today, sage is being explored for its positive effects on brain function and memory. Researchers are looking for ways to use sage in the treatment of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Studies have shown positive results for memory in both young and older populations, and participants with Alzheimer’s have shown increased cognition and reduced agitation after taking sage for at least four months.
Many people are familiar with the use of St. John’s Wort to help people who suffer from depression and anxiety. As a folk remedy, it’s been used to help with conditions ranging from kidney trouble to insanity. St. John’s Wort was often considered magical for its calming effect on agitated or “hysterical” people. In addition to its mood stabilizing benefits, St. John’s Wort is also an effective aid in relieving bruises, burns, and open wounds.
St. John’s Wort can also help people get a better night’s sleep. The herb contains melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep-wake cycles, and it stimulates the body’s production of melatonin. The Surgeon General has validated the use of St. John’s Wort to improve sleep, however, it can interact with many prescription medications. If you want to add St. John’s Wort to your regimen, be sure to consult your doctor first.
It’s no secret that mint is well-known for it’s antiseptic, antibacterial, and digestive qualities. There are more than 30 different kinds of mint, and all of them can help you feel better naturally. Greeks used mint in their baths and to clean their banqueting tables, while the Romans recognized mint’s power to aid in digestion and provide fresh breath. Medieval monks also used this pungent herb in cooking and medicines to heal burns and help with aches and indigestion.
Mint’s medicinal use has remained consistent over time. Today it is still used to settle the tummy, freshen breath, alleviate headaches, and cool burns. Mint can be added to food, made into tea, or used topically.
This powerful herb earned its supernatural name from early European settlers who used the branches of the Witch Hazel tree in “divining,” an old-world method used to discover water. It’s first healthful use was by Native Americans, who used the tree’s bark, flowers, and leaves to help soothe sore muscles, treat colds, coughs, dysentery, and skin ailments. Europeans adopted the use of Witch Hazel to deal with outbreaks of dysentery.
Today Witch Hazel is used for it’s antiseptic and healing properties to treat sunburn, help skin recover from wounds, alleviate itching from insect bites, and stop bleeding. It also has some beauty applications. Witch Hazel is a natural astringent that shrinks pores, fades blemishes, and removes excess oil. Look for Witch Hazel as an ingredient in facial treatments designed to fight acne and clear oily skin.
You can do more with this aromatic herb than brighten up your garden or fill a sachet. Lavender has been used for centuries to clean linens, hair, and skin as well as soothe headaches, insect bites, and burns. Lavender is also well known for its calming qualities, helping to alleviate anxiety and induce relaxation. This purple flowering herb is mentioned in the “Song of Solomon” as a key ingredient in a holy ointment referred to as Nard or “spikenard.”
Healthful and culinary uses for lavender have continued to persist through the ages. Many baby products include the oil of this gentle herb to help calm infants and toddlers before bedtime. In addition, it is used for its antiseptic qualities in cleaning products and treatments for rashes and burns. When it comes to food, lavender is seeing a resurgence as a flavoring and decorative addition to everything from cupcakes to artisanal cheeses.
It’s name hints at this ancient herb’s healing abilities. Feverfew is a go-to herb for toothaches, stomachaches, and headaches—and, yes, reducing fevers. Ancient Greek and early European herbalists looked to feverfew for help with all kinds of aches and pains, including women’s monthly troubles and pain resulting from injury and falls. It was considered the aspirin of the 17th century, officially recommended to help with headaches in “Gerard’s Herbal,” which was published in 1633.
Over the years, feverfew’s use has expanded beyond headaches and is now considered to alleviate symptoms of arthritis, constipation, asthma, earaches, vertigo, psoriasis, and a variety of inflammatory conditions. It has been recognized as useful for female health issues including menstrual disorders, however, pregnant and lactating women should avoid it. Feverfew is very pungent and can even be used to purify the air. There can be mild side effects with feverfew use; watch out for canker sores or swelling and irritation of the tongue and lips.
First used in ancient Turkey to keep honey bees returning to their hives, lemon balm has a long and respected history as a useful herb. In Medieval times the leaves were considered magic, able to heal the “bites of mad dogs” and the “stings of venomous beasts.” Carmelite monks closely guarded their special Carmelite water, which used essence of lemon balm to alleviate headaches, reduce nervousness, and bring cheer.
Lemon balm has continued to be a popular antiseptic as well as a natural mood stabilizer. New applications of the herb include anti-viral uses, especially in the treatment of cold sores and shingles. Perhaps the ancients weren’t wrong to hail this healing herb as magical.
This ground-cover is often used to enrich the flavor of sauces and meats; however, thyme has long been used as an antidote to poisoning, a preventer of the plague, and a symbol of bravery in battle. Ancient Romans believed that eating thyme before or after a meal would counteract poisoning—some emperors even bathed in water steeped in thyme to draw out poisons. During the Black Death thyme was used along with other herbs and flowers as a poultice to soothe sores and blisters.
Before refrigeration, thyme was added to meats and breads to stave off spoilage and food-borne diseases. It’s protective powers have led to thyme’s modern use as a detoxification agent and immune system booster. Adding thyme-based formulas to your medicine cabinet before cold and flu season hits, is a smart move.
Chamomile is one of the most well-known ancient healing herbs. For centuries its tiny white blossoms have been used for ailments from hay fever and muscle spasms to insomnia and ulcers. Most commonly used in tea form to aid in relaxation and sleep, chamomile is said to be consumed at the rate of more one million cups per day. However, the power of this flower extends far beyond tea time.
Chamomile is excellent at managing inflammation, revered for its use as a topical agent that successfully penetrates deeper skin layers. General use of chamomile improves immune function, can shorten colds, and provides relief to people suffering from anxiety and sleep disorders.
Originally used by North American shamans and ancient midwives to assist with a variety of women’s health issues, this member of the buttercup family is considered a safe alternative to other hormonal treatments. Historically it was used to aid with many gynecological ailments as well as malaria and rheumatism. Regardless of its effectiveness with other conditions like colds or certain lung conditions, the herb’s most common application always came back to female health.
All those years of use have been validated by modern medicine. In 2001, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated that black cohosh can be effective for women with menopausal symptoms, particularly hot flashes. Black cohosh is usually taken in pill form, and offers women a natural path to relief.
Whether you’re new to natural herbal remedies or want to expand your use of healing herbs, these ancient all-stars are worth a second look. As with all herbal treatments, consult a physician before use and ensure your supplements and oils are from a reputable source that maintains the purity of the plant’s healing essence.

]]>Consumer Media Network first tackles the problem of Asthma. Sodium benzoate, found in sodas, is used as a preservative in foods. Sodium preservatives add sodium to the diet and reduce the availability of potassium. Some reported reactions include recurring rash, asthma and eczema. Each day, 11 Americans die from asthma, and the annual cost of asthma to the healthcare system is estimated to be nearly $18 billion.
Sugar and acid, which is prevalent in soft drinks, is a nasty, two-punch combination that dissolves tooth enamel. Many dentist chairs have been filled with soda-drinking mouths.
Many people associated weight gain and diabetes with soft drinks. But heart disease can be a devastating symptom from drinking too much soda. Most soft drinks (especially in the United States) contain high fructose corn syrup, a sweetener that’s recently come under considerable scrutiny. High fructose corn syrup has been associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, a condition associated with an elevated risk of both diabetes and heart disease.
Colas contain high levels of phosphoric acid, which has been linked to kidney stones and other renal problems.
Soft drink cans are coated with a resin that contains BPA. This is the same cancer causing chemical found in plastic baby bottles, water bottles, and plastic containers that wreaks havoc on the endocrine system, potentially causing premature puberty and reproductive abnormalities.
Twenty minutes after drinking a soda, your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar into fat. Forty minutes later, caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises; as a response, your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked, preventing drowsiness. Forty-five minutes later, your body ups your dopamine production, stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
Soft drinks contain phosphoric acid. A high phosphate diet has been associated with bone breakdown and an increased risk of osteoporosis. When phosphorus is excreted in the urine, it takes calcium with it, depriving the bones and the rest of the body of this important mineral.
The relationship between soft drink consumption and body weight is so strong that researchers calculate that for each additional soda consumed, the risk of obesity increases 1.6 times.
Those who drink more soda have an 80% increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Approximately 1 in 10 health care dollars is spent on diabetes.
Soda also increases dehydration, negatively affects your immune system and increases acidity in the body.

]]>The post WHAT’S “BUGGING” YOU THIS COLD AND FLU SEASON? appeared first on Clermont Wellness Center.
]]>
Under the weather? The “bug”? A cold? Whatever you want to call it, we’ve all been there and it’s not pretty. Most of us go about our lives not thinking much about our health until we wake up with a sore throat and the sniffles. We may feel ill for a few days or weeks and then return back to normal. But is there an actual science to the immune system? If so, what things can you be doing to maximize your immune health and prevent an illness from occurring?
Your immune system is a general name for an extremely complex system. Your immune system is comprised of a multitude of different white blood cells, intestinal flora and lymph nodes. Each doing different things. At any given moment your body’s immune system will be doing thousands different things. When the body is under abnormal stress, nutrition is lacking or if there is a build up of toxic substances in the body, the body’s defense system will tank and health will be compromised.
Your body has to detoxify and build nutritionally in order to overcome any illness, whether it be bacterial, fungal or viral. The reason your body gets “sick” and begins having flu symptoms of vomiting, coughing, sneezing, runny or stuffy nose and diahhrea is because the body has initiated a cleansing process. Your body has become too toxic and a perfect environment for a pathogen or “bug” to take root has been created. Once the body becomes acidic, available oxygen that is used by the immune system to kill pathogens is greatly reduced. Oxygen is the number one fuel for your body and white blood cells. Staying in this acidic and hypoxic (lacking oxygen) state will lead to severe diseases and death. Your body, instead of waiting for you to take the initiative to detox and eat healthy nutritious food, initiates a cleansing process on it’s own.
Have you ever done a detoxification program and had headaches, soreness, fatigue, fever, diarrhea, vomiting or any other cleansing reactions? This is because the body is attempting to purify the blood and organs through your eliminative channels (Kidneys, Liver, Spleen, Skin, Colon). This is why when a person develops an illness, they develop the same symptoms as detoxification, because the body is detoxifying it’s blood in an attempt to regain balanced Ph (Potential Hydrogen). The body can only ” win the battle” against the invader until the body regains balance of it’s blood Ph through detoxification.
The answer to preventing a “bug” would be to make sure you are nutritionally sound, relatively clean internally and limit environmental stressors that can trigger a stressed immunity. But what if you already have an illness and are looking to get rid of it? The very first thing the body wants is to have some support while it’s cleansing. Plenty of fresh, raw fruit like watermelon, grapes and other juicy fruits would be ideal. Cruciferous vegetables, like cabbage, garlic, and other green leafy vegetables would also be beneficial. Consuming raw fruits and vegetables (preferably organic) will help to alkalize the system quickly, while simultaneously supporting cleansing due to the high fiber, water and mineral content.
Several supplements you can put in your arsenal, would be Elderberry D3fense (Elderberry Defense), Immune Stimulator and VS-C. These herbal formulas are “synergized” for maximum effectiveness and work with your body to maximize and fortify your defense system. VS-C has powerful anti-viral properties which make it a formidable foe against unwanted pathogens.
Silver Shield is also another astounding supplement in your arsenal for supreme health. Silver Shield isn’t an herbal blend, but rather very tiny silver particles that are electrically charged, and therefore immensely effective against pathogens including viruses, bacteria, yeast and mold. The electrical charge of silver magnetizes to the solution and therefore is appropriately characterized as a ” heat seeking missile” that is on a search and destroy mission with unwanted invaders.
So whether you’re looking to prevent an illness or looking to get rid of one, we at the Clermont Wellness Center are looking to help you achieve your health goals! Our commitment to education, carrying a varied and quality selection, along with excellent customer service has made us your neighborhood Herb Shoppe for over 14 years! ]]>The post What Does “ITIS” Mean? By Blayde Thomas appeared first on Clermont Wellness Center.
]]>
What does ” itis” mean?
Arthr-itis, Hepat-itis, Col-itis. Ever wondered what itis means? Put simply, itis just means inflammation of. Western medicine uses Latin and Greek root words which causes a lot of confusion pertaining to health. To get to the root cause of the problem, and not just cover over the symptoms, you need to know what inflammation is, and why it’s there.
Inflammation is the body’s natural response to a “problem” that is going on in an area of our body that needs attention. It’s our body’s way of healing and dealing with infection or imbalance. Inflammation is healthy to a degree for a couple of reasons, one being to get our attention to an area of the body that needs help. For example, if someone is diagnosed with Hepatitis, basically it means the Hepa (Pertaining to Liver) is in a state of Itis (Inflammation)
Now that you understand what Itis means and it’s root language ( Latin), now we can see what causes itis (Inflammation). Several things cause inflammation, but most notably ACIDITY or Chronic Acidosis by eating our Standard American Diet ( S.A.D.) we’re eating non-nutritive, highly processed, dead, preserved food. We’re drinking our Colas, Pasteurized and Homogenized, hormone loaded milk and not getting near the exercise we should be getting. Over time our bodies become so Acidic, so toxic, that our bodies produce a lot of mucous(to buffer the Acidity), which causes massive inflammation throughout the body. Where ever the most inflammation is, is where the ” Itis ” will be.
Eating too many inflammatory (acidic) things where your stomach lining and colon inflame? Well you have Colitis. Too many toxins in your diet to where your Appendix swells? Appendicitis. Joints aching from too much acid? Arthritis. Skin blotchy and inflamed from chronic acidosis and toxins? Dermatitis.
The best way to reduce inflammation and have a pain free life, would be to stop consuming acidifying things and to ALKALIZE the body via re-mineralization through diet, supplementation, and life-style. When the body alkalizes and is in a state of Homeo-stasis (Balance) inflammation disappears and pain ceases. Some really good supplements to take which are Anti-inflammatory are MSM Sulphur, Turmeric, Garlic, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea, Horsetail, Organic Lemons, and Cayenne pepper to name a few. All of these can be found at your local Clermont Wellness Center.
