It’s a shame whenever two artists go from making great music together to being at the top of each other’s proverbial hit lists. While it can make for quite the entertaining back-and-forth in the booth, ultimately it just kills the potential of great collaborations that simply will never be.

Sadly that applies to the ongoing feud between T-Pain and Akon, two megastars of the 2000s hip-hop era that for 12 years worked together under the latter’s Konvict Muzik record label. Now, T-Pain says Konvict owes him roughly half a million dollars for unpaid royalties from a recent million-dollar payout.

Akon’s Futuristic City In Senegal Blasted As A “Ponzi Scheme” By Ex-Business Partner

T-Pain claimed in a lawsuit filed in Fulton County Superior Court last week (Sept. 4) that Konvict Entertainment owes him approximately $489,047 based on a $1.3 million royalty payment issued by Zomba Recordings on March 30, 2026. According to XXL, the 80-page filing details his multiple attempts to settle the matter out of court, primarily in contacting BuVision, the indie label ran by music exec and Akon’s younger brother Abou “Bu” Thiam. After unsuccessful attempts to reach Bu in June 2026, T-Pain put the lawsuit in motion.

This comes nearly a decade after the initial 2018 lawsuit T-Pain filed against Konvict Entertainment just a year after officially leaving the label. In that filing, he claimed royalties were due for his first four albums in addition to an advance of at least $200,000 for completing the fifth one before his exit. In it he also includes their original contractual agreement to back up what he feels is due, as well as adding in the many email attempts to contact Konvict. A settlement was eventually reached in 2025 for $114,000, and the current suit is essentially picking up where Konvict allegedly breached in that agreement.

It was all good just 20 years ago.

An American Airlines passenger was duct-taped to his seat after he apparently lost it and had to be restrained. And now that same passenger is claiming that he was reportedly triggered after a conversation with a Rabbi about religion. 

According to TMZ, Arthur Layne Lundeen was recorded in his most vulnerable state after he was haphazardly confined to a seat with duct tape after allegedly shouting anti-gay remarks and racial slurs, including the N-word, towards a flight attendant during a flight from Texas to New Jersey last Thursday. 

Fellow passenger Richard O’Lenick, who helped restrain Lundeen, told TMZ that right before his meltdown, Lundeen had been engaged in a 2-hour-long conversation with Rabbi Jonathan Cahn about religion and a comment set him off and he just flipped and started “ranting and raving like a maniac for a good 10 minutes,” TMZ reports. 

O’Lenick said Lundeen’s conversation with Rabbi Cahn started out “friendly,” and added that Lundeen was seen with only one alcoholic beverage. 

Rabbi Cahn spoke with the Daily Mail, who was the first outlet to report the story, and noted that the outburst wasn’t the only disturbing part of the story. Rabbi Cahn claims that Ludeen grabbed him by the throat, hit him, and even broke his laptop over their religious chat. 

The rabbi told The Mail that despite talking for hours about religion, Lundeen turned wild within a split second and even began cursing God. 

Lundeen told the Rabbi that he was a Christian but “he rejected Jesus after he got divorced and he felt judged by Christians over the divorce.”

Everything went south, Cahn said, after the rabbi explained his own experience with God. It is then that Cahn says the man’s face changed. 

According to Cahn, Lundeen then leaned in and whispered, “I have something to tell you … bulls–t!”

After Lundeen was successfully detained the flight was diverted to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, and Lundeen was arrested on charges of assault and disorderly conduct, TMZ reports. 

Lundeen, who worked for an Arizona real estate company, has been fired.

2026 CMA Awards Nominees Announced

The award nominees for the 60th Country Music Association Awards were announced Thursday, featuring several artists nominated in multiple categories.

Leading the way is Ella Langley, who received nine nominations across seven CMA Award categories. “Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas” each earned nominations for Single of the Year and Song of the Year.

Miranda Lambert followed with seven nominations, while Kacey Musgraves received five each. Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton and Stephen Wilson Jr. each earned four nominations.

Johnson and Stapleton are both nominated for Entertainer of the Year alongside Langley, Luke Combs and reigning winner Lainey Wilson.

BOSSIP’s Liz Smith caught up with Bean ahead of the premiere and started with the significance of this moment. After years of bringing Wanda’s complicated journey to life on Snowfall, has it finally set in that she, a successful Black woman, is now leading the next chapter of the saga?

“It has not set in. Every day I’m like, wait, what?” Bean told BOSSIP. “When they first broke the news that I would be the number one, I said, I’m sorry, excuse me? Because even— it’s so crazy, even in 2026, when they told us back when we were shooting season six of Snowfall, in my mind I just thought, Oh okay, Leon and Wanda getting a spinoff. He gonna be number one, I’m gonna be number two. Which is crazy that even in the world today, that’s not the first thought of, like, that I could ever be the lead. That they would put a Black female as the lead.”

That responsibility extends beyond simply being No. 1 on the call sheet. BOSSIP told Bean that her performance seemingly raises the bar for everyone sharing a scene with her and asked whether she feels a responsibility to set that tone on set.

“100 percent. 100 percent. I feel I have to lead by example,” Bean said. “I’m always making sure that I come prepared, know my lines, I’m on time. I don’t want to be the leader that says, but the leader that does.”

For Bean, that also means doing the work beyond what’s written in the script.

“They know I have a good time, but [I’m] taking it serious as far as doing my own personal research outside of just what’s on the page or in the room, and truly bringing this character to life and showing that we have a responsibility to do these characters justice, tell real stories.”

That leadership is also met with plenty of support from her castmates, something Bean said reminds her of growing up with five older brothers.

“What I do love with all the guys, they’re so overprotective of me, ’cause I’ve had that forever because I have five older brothers,” she told BOSSIP. “But seeing how serious they take it and how supportive they are of me, and they tell me, they’re like, ‘No, you did a good job.’ So, yeah.”

From there, BOSSIP dug deeper into the woman at the center of The Drop. After watching Wanda spend much of Snowfall trying to find herself again, we asked Bean what it felt like to finally play a version of Wanda who knows exactly what she wants and believes she’s found her purpose.

“To have a Wanda who is now more sure of herself now more than ever, very confident, it just feels like she’s becoming a woman. Like she’s evolving,” Bean told Liz. “You know, us as Black women, we’re constantly trying to find our purpose, and then when we find it, you know. You know when you hit that moment of, ‘Oh, this is what I’m supposed to be doing. This is who I am. This is my purpose.’”

Bean compared Wanda’s evolution to the feeling of finally recognizing something, or someone, that’s meant for you.

“It’s like when you searching for your mate, right? And you don’t know you found your husband until you’re like, ‘Oh, this is what it feels like.’ So I felt like in Snowfall, she was just enjoying life, you know, not really knowing, not seeing a means to an end, but just, ‘Oh, life is fun. It’s cute. I’m having a good time.’ And now she’s like, ‘Oh, this is my purpose.’”

Now, we couldn’t just let that “husband” example slide by without asking a little follow-up! The Atlanta native sounded mighty confident about knowing what finding your husband feels like, so we playfully questioned whether she might be speaking from a little real-life experience.

With a smile, Bean simply responded, “Yes ma’am!”

Speaking of love, we couldn’t talk about Wanda’s next chapter without getting into the love story Snowfall fans have been invested in for years. Wanda and Leon fought hard to find their way back to each other, but without giving too much away, The Drop finds the two navigating a very different space. We asked Bean what she thought when she first learned where the writers were taking their relationship.

“Without spoiling it, you know what? ’90s love is a lot different than how we see love displayed today,” Bean explained. “Also at the time where a lot of times people didn’t talk about stuff in relationships. Certain conversations were taboo. It was just, it was complicated.”

And while Bean isn’t giving away whether Wanda and Leon will ultimately find their way back to each other, she admitted she’s enjoying the push and pull between the two.

“We don’t know where they’re gonna end up at, but I do like watching Wanda and Leon be in this place of tug of war with one another.”

Wanda’s newfound purpose doesn’t stop with her own dreams. The Drop introduces her younger cousin Lamar, played by Asante Blackk, and Wanda quickly recognizes talent and potential in him that others aren’t quite ready to see. According to Bean, that’s partly because Wanda isn’t just ambitious; she’s a visionary.

“Wanda is a visionary. So she sees something so clear in Lamar without a shadow of doubt,” Bean told BOSSIP.

But Wanda’s determination to believe in Lamar also comes from a much deeper place. Bean explained that the cousins share a bond rooted in childhood and similar feelings of abandonment, even if viewers don’t get their entire backstory this season.

“You know, you have your favorite cousin that’s kind of like your cousin-sibling? So that’s what they are,” she explained. “She’s known him for so long. Obviously she was there when he was born, you know? And it’s like you kind of take that cousin under your wing and you feel like they your sibling. “I think she just knows what it’s like to have a dream and nobody support you.”

Before wrapping up the conversation, Bean had one more message for viewers: tune in and show up. She encouraged fans to turn on those TVs, stream the series, and help push the viewership numbers because supporting The Drop means helping create more opportunities for Black stories to be told from Black perspectives.

It also means showing up for a Black woman leading a major television series, an opportunity Bean acknowledged earlier in our conversation is still far too rare.

The Drop: A Snowfall Saga airs on FX and streams on Hulu.

Fans of Southern eatery O’Charley’s are in for quite an unsavory surprise following multiple reports that the Nashville-born restaurant is scheduled to shut down across the nation.

Locations in Virginia have already confirmed that operations will cease by as early as 8PM on Wednesday, September 9.

According to WBNS, reports of O’Charley’s closings have come from employees in both Ohio and its native roots in Tennessee. One employee working at a location in Niles, Ohio told Nation’s Restaurant News that they were pushing to stay open “as long as possible” yet were more than likely scheduled for permanent closure sometime between September 27 and October 4. There’s also the fact that O’Charley’s deactivated its official Instagram, and hasn’t responded to outreach from media for a comment.

“‘There was some sort of board meeting and this decision was not supposed to get leaked and I don’t even think we were supposed to find out until we showed up for work on Thursday,’ the employee said. 

The employee added, ‘We weren’t even going to get an opportunity to say goodbye to some of our regular customers that I’ve formed close relationships with over the years.’

This employee also claims that all O’Charley’s locations in the United States will be closing this week.”

Although we don’t have the official word on whether or not every O’Charley’s is closing, we think there might be some truth to the rumors and wouldn’t be surprised to see an announcement in the near future. If so, the move will bring an end to one location in Florida, three in Georgia, one in Illinois, two in Indiana, eight in Kentucky, two in Mississippi, one in North Carolina, eight in Ohio, one in South Carolina, two in Virginia, one in West Virginia and 14 in its home state of Tennessee. The eatery originated 55 years ago from Nashville in 1971.

Just in time for homecoming season, A Different World is getting a whole new generation of students. The highly anticipated sequel series premieres on Netflix Sep. 24. The series brings viewers back to the fictional HBCU Hillman College through the eyes of Deborah Wayne — the daughter of beloved alumni Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. Several original cast members are returning, with Debbie Allen back behind the scenes as executive producer and director.

Before you head back to the yard, it is time to brush up on your HBCU screen education.

Essence shared a roundup of HBCU movie and TV show favorites ahead of Beyoncé’s iconic Homecoming drop on Netflix. From legendary marching bands and Greek life to Black love, campus politics, friendship, activism and finding yourself, these movies and television shows capture different pieces of the HBCU experience. As Essence points out in its homecoming watch list, titles like Drumline, Stomp the Yard, School Daze and A Different World have helped bring the energy of Black college culture to audiences everywhere.

And as Bustle previously highlighted, the HBCU stories on screen offer more than entertainment. They give viewers a window into traditions like stepping, marching band culture, Greek life and the everyday experiences of Black college students.

Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) kicked off New York Fashion Week (NYFW) exactly how we needed it to: with culture, couture and some serious coin.

The 19th Annual Fashion Show & Style Awards took over The Glasshouse on Tuesday, September 8. The night felt like a homecoming for HFR supporters, fashion insiders and culture shifters who return each year to celebrate Black designers and representation.

That homecoming came with plenty of star power. Gunna, Tracee Ellis Ross, Justine Skye, Sheinelle Jones, Loren LoRosa, Mikki Taylor, Achieng Agutu, Bevy Smith, Amaya Espinal, Jackie Aina and Azariah “Azzy” Cartagena were among the familiar faces filling the room.

This year, HFR also put more money behind its mission, turning community support into a major investment in Black design talent.

Brandice Daniel Welcomed The Village In Sergio Hudson

HFR founder Brandice Daniel opened the night looking fabulous in Sergio Hudson. She wore a fitted black blazer and matching rhinestone-covered skirt from his latest collection. Her hair was chic and cropped in her signature blonde pixie.

Brandice spoke candidly about HFR’s highs and lows, along with the economic opportunities the organization creates. She did not sugarcoat the difficult seasons or shy away from how HFR survived them. She also acknowledged the challenges it still faces today.

Brandice credited “the village” with inspiring and sustaining HFR for nearly 20 years. That village filled the room Tuesday night.

“There is nothing that we can’t do if we decide right now to do it together,” she told the well-dressed crowd.

Brandice’s vision for the future also came to life through 11-year-old designer Brooke Sumpter. Through HFR’s partnership with American Girl, Brooke introduced her Cherry Blossom Couture Collection and showed young Black girls they can help shape the brands they already love.

Harlem’s Fashion Row Gave Its Honorees Their Flowers

For Brandice and her team, working together also means recognizing those already changing the game. HFR honored several of them Tuesday night.

These names fill our social media feeds, group chats, headlines and, in some cases, shopping carts. Their work keeps Black influence, excellence and creativity in the fashion conversation. They are changing the industry, whether they know it or not.

HFR honored Erykah Badu with the Fashion Icon Award. Wisdom Kaye received the Virgil Abloh Award, presented by LVMH. Brandon Blackwood earned Designer of the Year.

Audrey Smaltz received the Ann Lowe Maverick Award. Jahleel Weaver earned Stylist of the Year, while Recho Omondi received Editor of the Year.

The speeches brought vulnerability, humor and stories about the sacrifices behind each career. Honorees recognized their supporters and the Black creatives who opened doors before them.

Three Designers Put Their Futures On The Runway

The stylish soirée ended with what we could hardly wait for: fashion.

Three designers sent collections down the runway: Chuks Collins, Atelier Ndigo by Waïna Chancy and Rey Jaiteh. All three participated in the Runway Ahead Designer Fellowship from ICON360 and the PVH Foundation. For the first time, HFR backed its investment in emerging talent with a $100,000 check.

Chuks opened the runway portion with a collection titled Archival of Love. The pieces explored his love for people and fashion through fabric. Gorgeous silhouettes appeared in orange, blue, cream and olive green. Handbags throughout the presentation surprised attendees. Exposed stitching and three-dimensional details gave the clothes even more character.

Harlem-based Rey showed handmade menswear and womenswear with sharp tailoring and an updated approach to luxury. His pieces played with our love affair with denim and streetwear.

His proportions felt current, and his models oozed swagger. Rey chose deep indigo denim to tell his story.

Waïna presented the winning collection, a love letter to Haiti and her mother. In a preview video, she explained that her mother’s method of washing clothes inspired the collection. The designer translated that memory through indigo blue and white. Her clothes moved like water, bringing energy and spontaneity to the runway.

High waists, see-through knit skirts and sheer fabrics gave the bold It girls plenty to want to snag right off the runway. The looks slayed, and so did the night.

We put it on, took pictures, hugged people we hadn’t seen in a while and left The Glasshouse ready to dream a little bigger. Culture and couture kicked off NYFW, and the fashion girls are just getting started.

Palestinian journalist Rula Jebreal is under fire over racist remarks aimed at Rep. Hakeem Jeffries over pro-Israel ties. In a recent interview, Rula Jebreal referred to the New York congressman as an “AIPAC Monkey” and other quips some viewed as racially insensitive.

During a recent appearance on Wajahat Ali’s The Left Hook podcast, Rula Jebreal voiced strong critiques against Jeffries regarding his connection with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and their support of elected officials.

While talking with Ali, Jebreal used the moment to jab at Jeffries, referencing that his first name, Hakeem, translates into “healer” and following by saying, “he is no healer” and that he is a “bought and paid by AIPAC monkey, with all due respect,” while adding, “and I don’t mean it in a racist way.”

Jebreal’s quip and immediate cleanup job would suggest that she recognized her words could be taken in the context some assumed she meant it. However, Jebreal did her best to apologize but still managed to throw a shot at Jeffries via X.

“I am disgusted and horrified that Hakeem Jeffries is taking money from AIPAC amidst Israel;s genocide in Palestine,”Jebreal wrote on September 4. “That said, a term that I used to describe him was inappropriate and offensive and should neverave been used. I apologize unconditionally.”

Reactions to Rula Jebreal’s initial comments against Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and her apology have been, in a word, pointed. The critical lens in which she addressed the congressman is seemingly contradicted not only by her choice in how she referred to him, but also her own apology according to some observers online.

We really didn’t need any more evidence of the efforts by President Donald Trump, his administration, and the MAGA movement to miseducate America by whitewashing U.S. history while calling it an effort to fight “woke indoctrination.” 

Those of us who actually read books and know things could see clearly why Trump and his white and fragile minions are forcing African American history museums to remove exhibits related to slavery and the Civil Rights Movement, having white attorneys who are not historians decide how much Black history is too much Black history, and pushing for right-wing curricula to be implemented in learning institutions across the country. 

We understood the motivation for Trump’s effort to hide the fact that President George Washington enslaved Black people. And we knew none of it had anything to do with “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History,” as the president’s previous executive order would have us believe. 

We knew why, under Trump, the National Park Service webpage tried to erase Harriet Tubman from the story of the Underground Railroad, which it laughably described as an example of “Black/White Cooperation” in the abolition movement. 

We knew why his administration directed NPS  to remove visitor brochures from the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home National Monument in Jackson, Mississippi.

Trump is racist, his administration is racist, and MAGA is racist — and they’re all deathly afraid of Black history because of the way it destroys their delusion of American exceptionalism. It’s the same reason the administration has now removed language criticizing a memorial to the Confederacy formerly located in Arlington National Cemetery.

As the Washington Post reported, in 2023, a 32-foot bronze statue commissioned by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and unveiled in 1914 was removed from Arlington following a decision made by Congress to rid U.S. military property of names and symbols honoring the Confederacy and its leaders — a decision Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have been working hard to undo since the start of Trump’s second term. The bipartisan Naming Commission elected to remove the memorial largely over its depiction of an enslaved woman carrying an infant child of a white officer and an enslaved man following his owner to war — because only a proud white supremacist would romanticize such a thing.

A white supremacist would also be invested in removing evidence of the intentional romanticizing of slavery from a government website.

From the Post:

A Defense Department website and a marker at the memorial’s former site included contextual language describing the sculpture as portraying a “nostalgic, mythologized vision of the Confederacy, including highly sanitized depictions of slavery.” The website also described the two Black figures as enslaved people, including an enslaved woman depicted as a “Mammy,” and it remarked on how the portrayal of the “faithful slave” helped to shape American pop culture.

Now, that language has been removed from the website, and the marker in the cemetery has been replaced by a new sign that omits wording critical of slavery and the Confederacy.

The website also formerly featured additional context about the sculpture’s symbolism, including a Latin phrase inscribed on it.

“An inscription … construes the South’s secession as a noble ‘Lost Cause,’” the website previously read. “This narrative of the Lost Cause, which romanticized the pre-Civil War South and denied the horrors of slavery, fueled white backlash against Reconstruction and the rights that the 13^th, 14^thand 15^thAmendments (1865-1870) had granted to African Americans.”

That language and other text was removed in recent weeks, according to photographs of the sign and archived versions of the webpage.

It’s not surprising, of course, that this administration would want to hide the truth about how ideological indoctrination has always worked in the U.S., despite the consistent claims made by white conservatives that critical race theory and “wokeness” are what’s plaguing the nation’s educational institutions. After all, this is the same administration that sees nothing wrong or racist about a commemorative statue depicting a “Mammy” holding a white slaver’s baby while his other slave trails behind him. In fact, Hegseth said last year that the statue would be reinstalled at Arlington, as did then-Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, another anti-CRT crusader.

The NFL season is officially here, and apparently the league wants us to keep our eyes on more than just the quarterbacks. Check out the hottest, most head-turning NFL WAGs to watch this season. 

As football returns, the NFL is putting a bigger spotlight on the women standing beside its biggest stars. According to Front Office Sports, the league’s recent flood of training camp moments features players and their significant others. This is an intentional move, which is part of a larger content strategy designed to reach women and younger fans.

The approach fits into the NFL’s broader “helmets off” marketing strategy, which focuses on showing players as people and creating more relatable content around their lives. The league told Front Office Sports that it has been increasing its female-focused content, and the numbers make the strategy pretty obvious. Madison Beer, Olivia Ponton and Marissa Ayers were recently featured alongside Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow and Jaxson Dart. They collectively have more than 70 million followers across social media platforms.

Translation? The WAGs are bringing their own audience to the football field. The Root also featured a roundup of NFL WAGs to watch this season, with the hottest wives and girlfriends ahead of the 2026 season. 

With opening night here, we are taking a look at some of the NFL’s most head-turning WAGs and partners to watch this season.

It’s been barely a month into Florida’s regular high school football season, and one team has seen enough to fire their first-year head coach.

Dan Nieboer, who was supposed to be a steal when the Lely (FL) football program lured him away from Jason Witten’s Liberty Christian (TX) high school in March, has already been let go after the school started the season 0-3, USA Today reports.

The Southwest Florida team had been outscored 166-0 against Gulf Coast, Immokalee and Naples. Maybe Lely’s former football team knew something, as there was a reported mass exodus of players transferring out following Nieboer’s hiring. 

The former coach is still a school district employee, USA Today reports. 

Assistant football coach Carlos Cornelio and Kit Fowler, the school’s varsity baseball coach and a physical education teacher, have been named co-interim head coaches for the remainder of the 2026 season. 

“After careful consideration, a decision has been made to pursue a change in direction for the head football coach position,” a letter to football families from Lely principal Jennifer Bledsoe read. “As a result, Coach Dan Nieboer is no longer serving as head coach of the Trojans football program.”

It continues, “Our building administration, including our school’s Activities Coordinator, worked closely with Coach Nieboer to establish a plan focused on player development and the overall operation of the program. Ultimately, we determined that a leadership change was necessary to best support the future success of our students and program as a whole.

“As we move forward with a national search for our next head football coach, we will prioritize player development, student-athlete growth, and a positive team culture as core values of the program.”

For now, Cornelio and Fowler will take over a program that has already endured a brutal start to the season. With the Trojans sitting at 0-3 and still searching for their first points, the interim coaches will have the difficult task of turning things around while the school searches for a permanent replacement.

That means Lely will now be looking for its second head coach in less than a year, making what was supposed to be a fresh start one of the strangest coaching situations in Florida high school football this season.

Unfortunately, we still deal with controversy when it comes to stereotypical roles reserved specifically for Black people. Although many thespians of color have shown autonomy in what acting jobs they choose to take or deny, the recent developments in artificial intelligence are threatening to add yet another hurdle to clear.

Famed director Paul Schrader proved that with his decision to use A.I. as a replacement for actors in his upcoming film, Three Guns At Dawn. His reason? No Black actors wanted to play the lead roles, which include a corrupt cop, a drug dealer and a sexual deviant.

Bad Boys Director Says Sony “Had No Faith” In The Film’s Success With Two Black Stars

“We sent it out to actors, and no Black actors wanted to play in a movie where there are no good Black people,” Schrader said in an interview with The Playlist, going on to blatantly add, “And it sort of died. But then AI came along, and I didn’t need Black actors.” The film, which originally had Antoine Fuqua attached to produce it, will reportedly be completely AI-generated. Schrader sees this decision as the project’s main source of pushback, completely ignoring the fact that Black actors simply don’t want to put on a performance that further perpetuates false characteristics of our race.

The Taxi Driver director’s affinity for A.I. has been brewing for a hot minute, even defending the use of it back in 2025 when he wrote on Facebook, “I just asked chatgpt for ‘an idea for Paul Schrader film.’ Then Paul Thomas Anderson. Then Quentin Tarantino. Then Harmony Korine. Then Ingmar Bergman. Then Rossellini. Lang. Scorsese. Murnau. Capra. Ford. Speilberg [sic]. Lynch. Every idea chatgpt came up with (in a few seconds) was good. And original. And fleshed out. Why should writers sit around for months searching for a good idea when AI can provide one in seconds?”

A few days ago, he added to the theory after getting self-satisfying results from ChatGPT on a prompt for a screenplay adaption of the Russell Banks novel, Affliction. “To ignore AI is to ignore the future,” he wrote as a closing statement. Our only rebuttal is, what about ignoring human decency?

DaBaby is now in a long line of celebrities who made the decision to enter the restaurant business. However, DaBaby’s new joint is raising eyebrows over its prices and one reporter says expediency is also lacking.

As pointed out by The Charlotte Observer, DaBaby, real name Jonathan Kirk, opened up his new No Knife Chicken & Waffles this past Sunday (September 6). Photos of the eatery’s menu have made their way online, and fans had some questions over the prices, in particular one big ticket item.

We perused the menu for No Knife Chicken & Waffles ourselves and discovered that its Plain Jane waffle starts at $15, with flavored options such as Birthday Cake, Banana Pudding, Sweet Potato and other southern-inspired choices are listed at $25.

The big jaw dropper, however, was the loaded Southern Cornbread Waffle topped with collard greens, yams, and mac and cheese listed at $45. Protein choices start at $12 for two pieces of fried whiting and the same price for a six-piece chicken entree. There are also mini crab cakes and lobster tail, the latter of which is sold at $40, a market price per the site.

The reporter from the Observer says that he and other attendees waiting three hours to obtain their food from No Knife Chicken & Waffles, and in their observation, the wait wasn’t worth it nor the price.

Another publication, Queen City News, also mentioned the long wait but concluded that the food was good despite the wait. We should also state that the Observer reporter didn’t downplay the quality of the food but had critique laid out over the wait.

There are plenty of ways to criticize Hakeem Jeffries. You can go after his politics, his positions on Israel, his relationship with AIPAC or pretty much anything else about the House Democratic leader’s record. But calling a Black man an “AIPAC monkey” and an “errand boy” just set off every alarm bell in the building—and that is exactly what happened.

Afro-Palestinian journalist Rula Jebreal made the comments while appearing on progressive commentator Wajahat Ali’s podcast The Left Hook, where she was ripping into Jeffries over his support for Israel and his ties to AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying organization. Jebreal said Jeffries was “bought and paid by AIPAC” before dropping the “monkey” reference and then insisting she did not mean it in a racist way.

She followed that up by calling Jeffries an “errand boy.” When Ali pointed out the obvious racial connotations of calling a Black person a monkey, Jebreal attempted to explain that she was referring to the familiar image of the three monkeys who cannot see, hear or speak.

That explanation did not exactly calm the waters.

The Congressional Black Caucus condemned the remarks, saying there is no non-racist way to call a Black man a “monkey” or “errand boy.” Jebreal later apologized “unconditionally” for the language while maintaining her criticism of Jeffries and AIPAC.

And social media was not kind.

Todd Tucker isn’t letting his divorce from Kandi Burruss quietly fade into the reality TV archives. Instead, he’s documenting their divorce, and Kandi fans think THIS is the true “scheme that Todd set up.”

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member/accused serial scheme King released a two-minute trailer for his upcoming project, Til Divorce Do Us Part. Fans got a glimpse of his side of the split and the emotional aftermath of his marriage ending. The documentary film follows Tucker around the time his divorce from Burruss was finalized and features familiar faces from the couple’s orbit, including Porsha Williams’ ex Dennis McKinley, Kandi’s friend Fatum Alford, Drew Sidora’s ex Ralph Pittman, and Kandi’s hairstylist.

The trailer opens with Tucker meeting with his divorce attorney and ultimately signing the paperwork. He then removes his wedding ring, setting the tone for what appears to be a very personal look at the end of the relationship.

And Todd is not exactly keeping things surface level.

The trailer touches on accusations of infidelity, marital problems, and Tucker’s mental health struggles following the breakup. At one point, he discusses having experienced thoughts of self-harm during the aftermath of the divorce. He also agrees to take a polygraph test when questions about whether he had sex with another woman come up.

Fatum Alford also suggests in the trailer that there was an incident Tucker admitted to that contributed to Burruss wanting the divorce. Tucker questions why his own struggles and pleas for help were not given more attention.

Meanwhile, Kandi has already publicly addressed the end of their marriage from her perspective. In June, she said she had no regrets about the marriage, explaining that it was good while it lasted but ultimately did not work.

Social Media Reacts To Til Divorce Do Us Part

Now that Todd is putting his version on screen, social media is already doing what social media does best: giving unsolicited reviews before the premiere.

Some viewers were not exactly rushing to buy a ticket. Some comments from fans under the post include: 

“He’s looking old.”

“DUDE NOBODY F*CKIN CARES!!!”

“is this AI?”

Another Instagram commenter bluntly wrote, “We won’t be watching, Todd.”

But not everybody is against Todd telling his story.

One commenter defended the project, writing that “Men get shunned, and no one wants to hear them out” and arguing that Todd has the right to tell his side and make money from it.

Another dubbed it a “smart scheme that he set up.”

So, whether folks are ready for Til Divorce Do Us Part or ready for Todd to simply let the divorce rest, he has decided to turn the aftermath of his marriage into content. Well, he does call himself a film producer, so can it be deemed creative freedom? 

Judging by the comments, the audience already has plenty to say.

For more than five decades, Saturday Night Live has been one of television’s biggest comedy launching pads, and some of its funniest, most memorable performers have been Black comedians. From Garrett Morris breaking barriers in the very first season of the hit comedy-sketch series to Kenan Thompson becoming the longest-serving cast member in the show’s history, Black comedians have brought unforgettable characters, spot-on impressions and plenty of chaos to Studio 8H, where SNL has been filmed for decades.

As we gear up for the beloved show to head into its 52nd season on Sept. 26, let’s take a trip through SNL history and revisit the Black comedians who helped make the iconic sketch show what it is today.

Garrett Morris Broke the Ice.

When Saturday Night Live premiered in 1975, Garrett Morris made history as the show’s first Black cast member.

Morris spent five seasons on the series and became known for characters and sketches that showcased his versatility as a singer, actor and comedian. His casting opened the door for generations of Black performers who would follow.

Yvonne Hudson and Danitra Vance Changed the Game.

In 1980, Yvonne Hudson became the first Black female performer on SNL. Initially appearing as an uncredited extra, Hudson’s presence marked an important moment for the show’s representation.

A few years later, Danitra Vance took another historic step. During the 1985–86 season, Vance became the first Black woman to serve as a repertory, or main, cast member.

Her run was brief, but her place in SNL history was significant. Hit the flip to see a few more Black people who have left a mark on Saturday Night Live.

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? held its Los Angeles screening Tuesday night, Sept. 8, at Harmony Gold Preview House, providing a first look at the highly anticipated return of the beloved franchise. More than 15 years after the previous installment brought the cast together in New York, the stars reunited on the red carpet to celebrate the next chapter.

Perry, who wrote, directed and produced the film, was joined by returning favorites including Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker and Sharon Leal.

This time around, the franchise is mixing its longtime favorites with a new generation of talent. Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith II, Derrick A. King and Sydney Winbush are among the newcomers joining the cast.

The stars in attendance weren’t only from the movie, though; There were a couple of surprise arrivals that had Love Island USA fans paying attention. Season 8 couple Kuman “KC” Chandler and Tierra “Titi” Davis stepped onto the red carpet, giving Islanders another reason to tune into the star-studded event.

The pair, who won over fans during the latest season of the hit reality show, added some reality TV star power to an evening already packed with Hollywood heavy hitters.

Kenya Moore also made an appearance at the Los Angeles screening, bringing some serious reality TV glam to the festivities.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was among the celebrity guests turning out to support the new installment, proving that the Why Did I Get Married? franchise still has plenty of crossover appeal more than a decade after the last movie.

The fashion was just as much of a moment as the star power.

Eva Marcille and Crystle Stewart embraced the sheer trend in stunning gowns, while Tasha Smith served some skin in a black dress featuring dramatic side cutouts.

Henson went in a different direction with a striking black-and-white Rick Owens look, proving once again that she knows how to make an entrance.

Michael Jai White kept it classy in an all-black suit.

And Derrick A. King followed suit, leaving his jacket open for a sultry moment.

The new movie picks up with the beloved couples reuniting to celebrate as Marcus and Angela’s daughter prepares to walk down the aisle.

But getting everyone back together also means old habits, old wounds and plenty of relationship drama are bound to resurface. After spending years apart, the couples quickly discover that while plenty has changed, some things really haven’t.

And now that their children have grown up, the group is forced to look at the examples they’ve set and wonder whether their kids are following in their footsteps a little too closely.

With Perry back behind the camera and much of the original cast returning alongside a new generation of stars, Why Did I Get Married Again? is shaping up to be another messy, emotional and entertaining trip down relationship lane.

Derrick Henry has already built a Hall of Fame-worthy résumé, but there is still one major accomplishment missing from his career: a Super Bowl championship.

And for Henry, winning one alongside Lamar Jackson would make it even more meaningful.

The veteran Ravens running back said Jackson was one of the biggest reasons he chose Baltimore in 2024. Now entering his third season with the organization, Henry is determined to make sure their time together ends with a championship.

“It would be crazy for me to say I played with Lamar Jackson and we didn’t win no championships,” Henry said during an appearance on “The Lounge” podcast. “I cannot have that. I do not want that to be a thing. We’ve got to do it.”

Baltimore has fallen short of those expectations over the past two seasons. The Ravens saw a potential playoff comeback disappear in snowy Buffalo two years ago before missing the postseason last season despite entering the year among the league’s Super Bowl contenders.

Still, Henry remains confident heading into 2026.

With a new coaching staff, another talented roster and what Henry described as “great vibes,” the 32-year-old believes Baltimore has everything it needs to make a championship run.

Henry has accomplished nearly everything else during his 10-year NFL career. He is a five-time Pro Bowler, won NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2020 after rushing for more than 2,000 yards and has twice led the league in rushing.

A Super Bowl ring, however, continues to motivate him.

“I want to win a Super Bowl,” Henry said. “That’s a big motivation. I just want to be able to feel that feeling. I’m tired of watching. Every year, I’m tired of being at home on the couch watching. I want to be a part of it.”

While Henry’s primary focus remains on winning, he is also approaching several major individual milestones.

He currently sits 10th on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 13,018 yards. Henry is 994 yards away from reaching sixth place, which would put him ahead of Hall of Fame running backs Eric Dickerson, Jerome Bettis, LaDainian Tomlinson and Curtis Martin.

A student of football history, Henry understands the significance of joining some of the game’s greatest runners.

“For me to be able to be in the top 10 and this year to be able to get to six, it’s so crazy to me,” Henry said. “The guys I grew up watching, idolizing and hearing about, it’s so crazy.”

But championships still come first.

“If me getting to No. 6 gets me to the Super Bowl, then so be it,” he said. “If we get that ring, everything else will happen.”

Henry has also shown little indication that age is slowing him down. He rushed for nearly 1,600 yards last season and has averaged more than 90 rushing yards per game in six of the past seven seasons. He also leads the NFL in total rushing yards over the past two seasons combined.

No player in NFL history has produced two separate 2,000-yard rushing seasons, giving Henry another potential milestone to chase in 2026.

For now, Henry is not putting an expiration date on his career.

“I don’t see myself stopping no time soon,” Henry said. “If I get there, that would be cool. If not, it wasn’t meant to be. I’m not trying to hang my hat on chasing that record.”

OK, so, most people across the U.S. are concerned that artificial intelligence technology is advancing too fast and radically; educators are concerned that AI makes it harder for people to think for themselves; Black educators are concerned that AI is disproportionately targeting Black children with discriminatory assessments. Environmental scientists across the globe have been sounding the alarm on what generative artificial intelligence is doing to the physical world — especially in minority communities — for years.

But fine, if you don’t want to listen to a bunch of experts, activists, educators, and people who care about staying alive on a planet that can sustain life express their fears and concerns about AI — how about you listen to insiders at top AI corporations tell you about how AI could kill us all?

On Tuesday, Jacob Coxon, an AI researcher for AI research and products corporation Anthropic, posted on X that he resigned from the company that day because he “spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic,” and learned that “neither company is acting responsibly,” but are instead “racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives.”

“Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing,” Coxon wrote in a thread of tweets. “The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible – but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.”

After Coxon posted his thread — at the end of which he urged other lab researchers to “consider what the next few years will actually feel like” and whether they want to “kick off a superintelligent RL run without a rigorous understanding of its mind” — Anthropic alignment-science lead Evan Hubinger responded with a damning tweet of his own, saying, “Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.”

Then Samuel Marks, Anthropic’s scalable-oversight lead, according to Axios, chimed in, writing in a lengthy response, “AI developers believe their technology could cause human extinction (or similarly bad outcomes). This could happen in the next few years. In general, the more senior the employee, the more concerned they are.”

Axios reported that insiders at Anthropic are sounding the alarm on the dangerous speed at which AI tech is advancing on the heels of top OpenAI leaders, including CEO Sam Altman, saying much the same.

Look, none of these AI researchers and leaders are claiming that Skynet is coming to the real world imminently, or anything like that. But when multiple top researchers and leaders for major AI corporations are warning that AI technology is improving faster and becoming more capable of recursive self-improvement than they ever thought possible, and that the rabid development of the technology is not being done responsibly, maybe we should start listening to them more than we listen to pro-AI politicians, tech billionaires who are only concerned with profits, or an AI-slop-obsessed president, who continues to push for AI data centers where voters don’t want them.

Just a thought.

Bryan-Michael Cox spoke with Hip-Hop Wired at Cousinz Festival 2026, where the super producer opened up about his work with Day26 and the impact Making the Band had on the R&B group’s career.

Cox is coming off a major year after launching his latest venture, Illustrate New Ideas, a record label that counts a familiar face among its first signees, Day26.

During the Making The Band era, B. Cox and the R&B group cooked up several hits together, including “Imma Put It On Her,” “So Good,” “What It Feels Like” and more.

While Cox has continued to champion Day26, he believes the group never received the proper acknowledgment for their talent. During his conversation with Hip-Hop Wired, he even questioned whether Making The Band ultimately stunted their growth.

“I was doing a lot of interviews and they would talk about music, and people would ask me what artists that I felt were underrated. I would always say Day26 because I feel like, if Day26 would have been a group had not come through ‘Making The Band’ although they are a group because of the show, so you can’t take MTV away from them, they exist because of that. So I get it,” Cox explained.

He continued by imaging how different Day26’s career could have been if they were introduced to fans strictly as a group rather than through reality television. 

“But I always say if Day26 would have came even through Bad Boy just as a group, and not on TV and the first time your’e hearing ‘Exclusive’ I feel like it would have been credible from the gate. I feel like what stunted them was MTV, it was a gift and a curse.”

Kardal Coleman, Dallas county democratic party chairman, addressed reports during a press conference with the state and the national party leader on Wednesday, characterizing the republican national midterm convention in Dallas as a gathering that took place in a territory held firmly by democrats. Coleman noted that Dallas County is the second-largest county in Texas and is primarily Democratic, with over 75% of the voters supporting party candidates and republicans failing to win a countywide election in two decades. Coleman framed the gathering of these parties as a “tale of two cultures,” positioning the republican convention around division and fear while highlighting local democratic community efforts, including food drives, grassroots voter outreach, and volunteer mobilization.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Chris Hollins, Houston’s city comptroller, criticized Texas and national republican leadership, urging voters to support democratic candidates in November. Hollins argued that government should focus on public safety, expanded opportunity, and protecting democratic institutions. Hollins also pointed out mortality rates in Texas, the efforts to divert public school funding into private voucher programs, high incarceration rates, and recent polling site closures in Tarrant County.

Hollins expressed confidence in democratic prospects for the fall election, endorsing U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico and gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa. He finished by saying these upcoming midterm elections are a pivotal opportunity to deliver policy changes for working families across the state.

This multi-day convention will be taking place at the American Airlines Center starting Wednesday, September 9, 2026. There will also be a golden Mercedes-Benz with bedazzles featuring Trump’s face parked outside of the American Airlines center.

This Convention cause multiple street closures until Friday, though the convention ends Thursday. Once streets open back up on Friday, tear-down and clean-up are expected to last through Saturday.

Pedestrians will face trouble walking around the arena due to the tall fences and concrete blocks that have been set up in the area, requiring pedestrians to take detours to get to some businesses.

This event is expected to bring 20,000 attendees, including President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, along with republican congress members and party officials.

When traveling, you can expect to be impacted around the American Airlines Center, Victory Park, and the Field Street District.

• Northbound Field Street (from noon to 5 p.m)
