The post Summit Hygiene launches Ozoklenz Eco 3 – a next generation chemical-free handheld cleaning innovation appeared first on Cleaning Hygiene Today.
]]>The innovative Ozoklenz Eco 3 is the newest addition to Summit Hygiene’s Ozoklenz range and is the next generation model of the Enozo Pro. The rechargeable handheld device features a smaller, lightweight body with an easy to fill water reservoir. This eco-friendly device uses patented Diamond Wafer technology to create Aqueous Ozone (AO) – a naturally derived, powerful cleaning agent that’s produced using cold tap water and electricity. This chemical-free liquid eliminates bacteria, viruses, and contaminants and can be used on multiple surfaces.
Ozoklenz Eco 3 delivers a readily available anti-bacterial solution of AO when the activation button on the front of the device is pressed. This liquid is 30-times stronger than bleach, yet it’s non-toxic and completely safe to use in environments around children, animals and food. It sanitises, deodorises and disinfects, and wipes away easily – leaving surfaces streak-free and with no harmful residue. Any remaining liquid can be poured down the drain with no risk of clogging which can be associated with traditional chemical buildup, and importantly, there’s no chemical runoff which can harm the ecosystem.
The handheld unit is tailored to professional cleaning teams where chemical usage, budget constraints or storage space presents a challenge. There are no consumables or filters to purchase, therefore helping to reduce carbon footprints and single-use plastics in the supply chain. The ergonomic body is finished in an eye-catching green – a nod to the company’s commitment to reducing the impact of cleaning on the environment.
Zach Stedman, Ozoklenz specialist at Summit Hygiene, said: “We pride ourselves on listening to our customers’ needs and providing sustainable cleaning solutions that truly deliver on performance. Following the success of our Ozoklenz Eco 1, Eco 2 and Enozo Pro, we’re excited to introduce our new handheld model that’s been designed with utmost versatility in mind.”

]]>The post FreshCheck receives £150k funding to advance hygiene verification technology appeared first on Cleaning Hygiene Today.
]]>Founded in 2015 by Imperial College London PhD alumni Alex Bond and Dr. John Simpson, FreshCheck has transformed their lab side project into a rapidly growing hygiene innovation company.
Its globally patented colour-change swab system provides instant, visual confirmation of surface cleanliness. The swabs require no expensive hardware, no lab work, and no waiting for results, challenges which limit widespread adoption.
Validated by Campden BRI (a globally recognised food innovation testing body), the system combines a simple swab with an integrated app and web platform that enables users to record, analyse and verify hygiene standards in real time. The technology is already in use across major UK food producers and is now being trialled by leading international brands.

John Simpson, CEO of FreshCheck, said: “Microbial contamination is a global issue, from food safety to antimicrobial resistance. For too long, reliable hygiene testing has been limited to those who can afford the complex or costly tools. Our mission is to make contamination visible with easy-to-use, affordable products that anyone can use to protect consumers and patients with easy to interpret results and cleaning data analytics.”
He added: “With growing demands for antimicrobial stewardship and data-driven auditing, FreshCheck is redefining what hygiene verification looks like. This investment allows us to expand our range of patented active and passive testing processes, accelerate adoption of current tests, and take our technology into healthcare and other high-impact sectors.”
The funding from BDF is intended to support the company’s plans to expand its product range and explore new applications in healthcare, where hygiene monitoring remains a persistent challenge, as seen with the rising cases of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs).
Damon Bonser, CEO of British Design Fund, said: “FreshCheck exemplifies the kind of purposeful innovation we look for, where practical design meets real-world impact. Their approach to hygiene verification is timely, scalable, and rooted in solving a genuine challenge. We’re pleased to support their journey and see how their technology and services continue to evolve.”

]]>For those in the cleaning and facilities management sectors, the transformative impact of technology is unmistakable. Driven by digitisation, automation, and data-powered solutions, the industry is moving beyond labour-intensive practices and embracing a more efficient and future-focused way of working.
Such changes are welcome as they assist businesses with greater efficiency, cost savings, increased sustainability and shift of employee focus toward higher-value work.
As the role of technology in these industries continues to evolve, Kärcher UK aims to be at the forefront of harnessing the power of innovation. And at the heart of this is new systems such as Kärcher Connected Cleaning (KCC), a unique piece of tracking software which can be fitted into a BR 35/12C sized machine and upwards. KCC connects a machine to the web with data protected by GDPR-compliant security standards. The software simplifies fleet management by linking machines through smart connected modules, which are available in plug-in and machine formats. KCC then transmits data autonomously and provides backup features for consistent updates.
Free of charge user application is available which provides access to the Kärcher web portal with regular reports and critical notifications ensuring businesses have the information needed to monitor their fleet effectively. There is a free-of-charge data API application for third-party solutions, and a Connected Cleaning Platform which allows shift and staff management.
KCC offers a centralised view of all cleaning equipment, improving team co-ordination and resource allocation. Automated tracking reduces unplanned downtime, boosting efficiency and reliability, while detailed machine histories and cloud-based access provide transparency, compliance, and real-time collaboration.
KCC supports smarter cost control and asset lifecycle management. Extensive logging enhances accountability and safety, while shared real-time data improves response times. Attractive features include one-time pricing without any monthly payments or contractual obligations. What’s more, a strong service network effectively supports a companies’ entire fleet of Kärcher machines.
With sustainability a central part of Kärcher’s ethos, KCC also helps businesses with their green goals: by optimising maintenance and cleaning routes, the software extends equipment lifespan, reduces waste, and lowers energy and resource consumption.
Ultimately, software systems such as KCC can be immensely helpful for businesses in streamlining their operations. As technology in cleaning and facilities management continues to advance, investing in systems like KCC is vital for businesses looking to stay ahead of the competition.

]]>The post The Big Ballot Bin™ throws facilities and stadium sector a playful alternative appeared first on Cleaning Hygiene Today.
]]>Whether the question is Who will win The Ashes England Vs Australia, or who will get Christmas number 1 “K-Pop Demon Hunters or Wham?” these bins capture attention and spark conversation, while quietly delivering massive cuts to waste and clean-up costs.
Crucially, the Big Ballot Bin is designed as a customisable brand asset. Operators can integrate the bin into their guest experience by adding branding, bespoke colours, and campaign messaging, to turn litter collection into a marketing tool that strengthens their brand experience.
Litter costs the UK over £1 billion a year to clean up, and it’s one of the most visible indicators of poor visitor experience. Traditional methods are failing to tackle it.
Alex Robinson, CEO at Hubbub, said: “The Big Ballot Bin shows what happens when you make the right choice the fun choice. Traditional enforcement often fails to change behaviour, but when you invite people to take part in something playful and topical, littering drops dramatically. We’ve seen how curiosity, conversation and competition can transform a simple act like binning rubbish into a moment people enjoy and remember. For venues and destinations, it’s proof that positive engagement can deliver real environmental impact.”
Behind the fun exterior sits smart technology. Each bin comes equipped with a remote tracking system that allows operators to monitor the vote count and collect valuable data for ESG and CSR reporting. The plug-and-play design ensures reliability both indoors and outdoors, while a 240-litre capacity makes it ideal for busy shopping centres, theme parks and stadiums.
The Big Ballot Bin has been trialled successfully on UK high streets through an eight-week pilot with KFC, Manchester City Council and Southampton City Council. The results showed that litter was dramatically reduced within 20 metres of each bin, with drinks litter down 70 per cent and food litter down 60 per cent, while the bin’s capture radius was 2.5 times larger than standard bins.
The pilot also got people talking and sharing the bins on social media, reaching 10 million people organically. According to Manchester City Council, “people were actively seeking them out”.
Hubbub is now inviting organisations across the leisure, hospitality, and attractions sectors to become early adopters. Partners will benefit from preferential pricing and access to a full support package, including full creative customisation (branding, colours, and messaging), access to the smart tracker, and communications collaboration.
Robinson added: “When we first trialled the Big Ballot Bin, we were blown away by how much attention they received – they really got people talking and we had fun creating voting options that tapped into current trends and discussions. We’re thrilled to now bring this product to market and we look forward seeing our future customers create memorable experiences for visitors and be part of a nationwide movement to tackle litter in smarter ways.”
This innovation builds on the success of Hubbub’s original Ballot Bin, the world’s first voting ashtray launched in 2015. Now found in over 5,000 locations across 43 countries, the Ballot Bin
has collected more than 15 million cigarette butts and won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The Big Ballot Bin
takes these proven principles and scales them up for general litter – delivering the same mix of visibility, fun and effectiveness.
