We are excited to announce we are participating in “Atlanta Streets Alive – Southside” on 4/23 from 2-6 PM. This particular ASL is featuring the neighborhoods of the Southside of ATL, including Adair Park, which is where our studio is located. The route runs from Grant Park all the way to near the Westview Cemetery. (See route in photo.)
What is Atlanta Streets Alive? It’s a close-the-streets community event, where you can explore these neighborhoods while walking or biking! Or ride a skateboard, non-motorized scooter, pogo stick, whatever you want! There will be many businesses and organizations along the way who have interactive activities set up. It’s not a “buy our stuff” thing – it’s a “hey let’s enjoy a beautiful day in Atlanta!” thing. Our space will be near the intersection of Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in Northside Drive. Come on down!

]]>Maryelle got the call to work this at 7:00 PM; talked to the DP and producer at 10:00 PM to discuss the look and feel needed; and had four rooms pulled and ready for the truck by 10:00 AM the next day. This is the advantage of hiring an art department person who owns a prop house AND has a number of other rental companies, artists, and artisans right there. Most of the big prop houses in Atlanta were already closed by the time Maryelle even got the call about it; and it would not have been possible to select, get approved, pull, and document the paperwork for four rooms by 10:00 the next morning, when most of the big houses don’t open until 7 or 8 AM. Please get in touch with Maryelle and Ooompalala for your set decoration needs! They have a lot of unusual and one-of-a-kind items you won’t find ANYWHERE else in Atlanta.
Here are a couple of screencaps from the segment. Everything you see was selected by Maryelle and dressed by her and her wonderful PA team (Rob Stockwell and Thien Vuong).
Some BTS stills – you can see how what the eye sees and what the camera sees are two entirely different things!

If you are planning on visiting during this time, and especially from March 20-22, please let us know you are coming. We can probably tell you the best streets that day to take and also meet you when you arrive. Please also be prepared to stop and let the guard on Bluff Street know you are visiting a tenant in the building.
Call us with any questions! 617-331-0127 or 678-643-6678.
]]>In the past couple of years, the neglected old Abrams Fixture Corporation manufacturing facility in Adair Park has been partially reborn as a hub for artists and tradespeople. –Curbed Atlanta
Abrams Creative Space (unit #7 inside the building) alone has more than ten artists and craftspeople so far leasing space, from fine art to photography to clothing design to taxidermy. Right next door is a large prop house (Metropolitan Art & Design); downstairs is a modern furniture, metalwork design, and large-scale art installation studio (Twochair) along with another studio specializing in individually handmade wood and metal furniture with an industrial era and mid-century Danish flair (Reclaimed by Demant). Acclaimed fine artist Scott Ingram has a studio as well, where among other things he produces stunning works painted with nail polish. Also located in the building is Cinder Lighting and Grip, which supplies grip & electric, camera, and audio equipment to film productions all over the area.
When Burnaway held its annual Art Crush auction there in 2015, executive director Susannah Darrow told Creative Loafing, “We walked in the building and everyone’s jaws kind of dropped open … It’s one of those spaces where you’re like, ‘How has this not been used for the last 20 years?'” –Curbed Atlanta
