Look at the image. It depicts an asymmetric tube.

Key details: The wide part of the tube holds 10 liters of water while the thin part only holds 1 liter. The tube was already filled with water before the experiment begins. Both ends of the tube are under water to ensure that no air enters the tube.

So, in which direction will the water inside the tube go?

If we had allowed air into the tube, then the water in the wide part would fall into the higher container and the water in the thin tube would fall into the lower container. But since we don't allow air, the whole of the water inside the tube must move in a single direction.

So we have 10kg (1 liter=1 kg) of water on one side and only 1kg on the other. The water in both sides is being pulled down by gravity and engage into a tug-of-war to see where will the water go.

Of course, the 10kg in the wide part will win handily and start moving down. This will create suction at the top, which will pull the water from the thin part into the wide part replacing any water that moved into the higher container. Also the thin part will suck water from the lower container to replace any water that moved to the wide part.

This creates a self-sufficient process that requires no additional energy, where the water is constantly being pulled up from the lower container into the thin part, then into the wide part, and then into the higher container. And this process will continue so long as there is water in the lower container.
