]]>In her farewell speech Rachel said that her legacy would be that Alberta is now a two-party state. But there’s a vast difference between being a government in waiting, as the NDP should be, and the eternal opposition, a foil for the natural governing party, as conservatives like to see themselves.
I’d like to see the NDP stop waiting for Danielle Smith to do something outrageous that will cause voters to reject her with disgust. It doesn’t work. Smith has normalized outrageous. Like the whole referendum thing. The outcome could not be any clearer, the NDP was on the right side of the question and yet at the end of the day they are not the triumphant heroes. I’d like the NDP to be the heroes of health care, fighting the UCP in the courts and in the streets. I’d like to see the NDP embracing hospitals. Forget Question Period.
