While Saturday is shaping up to be a very nice day around the region – sunny and mild – the second half of the weekend will be rather unsettled. A wave of low pressure is going to lift northward through the region and send a shield of showers, downpours and thunderstorms through the area during the day on Sunday. While all of the Southern New England region is likely to get some rain, model guidance has been showing pockets of very heavy / torrential rain embedded in the rainfall shield and scattered about the region. Consequently, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the area. So after a beautiful day on Saturday, plan for a gray, wet and cool Sunday.

Nice weather on Friday will lead into an equally pleasant day on Saturday. Sunshine should rule from start to finish and temperatures will be right around “normal” for this time year, with readings in the 70s. Unfortunately, clouds will push into the area Saturday night and Sunday and some showers are likely to cross through the region during the day on Sunday. While an all day rain isn’t currently expected…a fair chunk of the midday hours look wet and gray skies/cooler temperatures are likely.

Quiet Weather Rolls On

Other than a passing frontal zone and the threat for a sprinkle or shower over the next 24 hours, there’s not much weather to talk about. Temperatures in the 70s today will warm to near 80F tomorrow and then dip back into the 70s for Friday and Saturday. The only real noticeable change will be a shift in humidity levels – southwest winds will become rather busy this afternoon and transport more humid air into the region for tonight and Thursday. However, the aforementioned cold front will cut through the region on Thursday and usher in another shot of comfortable air to close out the work week. Simulated radar imagery shows some scattered showers around the region with the approaching front tonight and Thursday.
