Genki is now over and we (the organizers) would like to thank all you lovely people who chose to show up and be cool with the rest of us. Much love and remember to spread the word on how awesome Genki is, so vi can have even more participants joining next year! Of other goodies, the promised budget will be made public in about a week or two so those of you who are interested can see exactly how your money have been spent. The Flash animation with katakana and hiragana that was shown during the Japanese language panel will also be set up for download. We are also making a report of the con, but don’t have any publishing date, as of yet. Genki is now under progress, and even though it’s early in the day, 32.5% af all participants have arrived. And what do they think of the con so far?| *thumbs up* |
- The time schedule has been updated and is done. If changes to the schedule occur, it will be posted on the screen by the reception in Kulturhuset and on the front page of the website.
- The Event page has been updated and is done.
- Page with operational hours is almost done. We won’t know the times of the dealer rooms until Friday of the con.
- The Pashiri meeting has been decided to be at 09.00 AM on Friday morning, so that people who are there from the beginning can start working immediatly. Pashiri who can’t make it by then (e.g. if they come from far away) will just have to find our Krew chief (Jill) when they show up and she’ll walk you through everything. Note that all pashiri must make a quick-stop at the reception so that we can register your arrival.
- A tentative work schedule for pashiri can be found here (Excel Sheet). The finished version, which includes who has shifts when and were, won’t be handed out until the actual con. This is just so you can see what work stations there are and how long the shifts last.
- Rule page has been update with rules about Artist Alley.
- Rules for equipment for the cosplay contest have been updated. CDs with audio are to be handed in at the reception, deadline for this is 10:00 AM on Saturday.
- We still have heard from Jan Palm about who he has paid for. He is asked to please contact info@genki.dk so we can have the ticket ready, otherwise, we will refund the money and the ticket will become void.

The con is getting closer, people have paid, but no one has seen even the shadow of tickets, ID numbers or similar, so people migh be thinking “now what?! O.o” as the panic slowly spreads. But don’t worry, Genki-Man is on it! *Genki-Man theme song*
Jokes aside; the procedure is pretty simple. You get the tickets at the con in the shape of “bracelets”. These bracelets work as your Genki con OK *thumbs up* ID, and confimrs that you’ve paid. These must be visible at all times, and in case a pashiri or organizer asks to see your ticket (in case it got covered by your sleeve or something), then that’s what you show. Should the bracelet happen to snap or otherwise come off, then keep it in your pocket it and show it when asked. If you lose it completely, then please go to the reception. New bracelets kost 5 DKK.
But how do you get your ticket to begin with? As stated, you get it at the con itself. When you arrive, go to the reception and state your name and show ID that can confirm you are who you claim to be. Therefore, please remember your national health insurance card, student card, mopad license, periodic travelpas, or similar! As long as your name is on it and it is issued by e.g. the municipal, then it can be used. Print-outs of the confirmation mail CANNOT be used, as the written content is public and generic, and can therefore easily be forged as they aren’t unique from person to person.
And that would be all. So, you get tickets by the entrance and all you need to do is state your name and show ID and then it’s lickety-split. Lubz Genki ♥

With that said, we are making inquiries for two payments: We’ve received a payment that just said “2 pers/Nicklas” in the message box. The same for a payment by Jan Palm, it doesn’t specify who the payment is for. Would Jan and Nicklas please write info@genki.dk and specify for whom the payments were for? ]]>
- We got an extra dealer (AniPopGam), see: Dealers.
- Them municipal haven’t gotten back to us yet, so we’ve given up on the gym. However, we’ve spoken to Kulturhuset again, and where we earlier weren’t allowed to used the 5th floor at all, we are now permitted to use it as a sleeping floor under a few conditions.
1) We are not allowed to be on the fifth floor until 11 PM, neither Friday, Saturday, nor Sunday, since there are other people using the floor until then. So sleeping gear are not to be unpacked until after they have left.
2) The floor is to be completely empty of people and personal belongings no later than 08:30 AM on both Saturday and Sunday, since the will be people coming in at 09:00 AM to use the floor, i.e. all sleeping gear must be packed and returned to the wardrobe no later than 08:30 AM.
We’ll make sure everyone gets up by then. But if people can stick to these two conditions, then we now have a sleeping floor fitting 80-100 Genki participants, so yaaay! - The two drawing-related panels have been cancelled because the guy who was supposed to do the panels wanted 8,000 DKK for it, but we weren’t willing to spend that much money on two presentation (and we didn’t have that much money left over anyway…).
- We’ve set up a Genki panel as a replacement for one of the cancelled panels. We’re still trying to think of something to replace the two others.
- We’ve agreed on closing for sign-ups for the con on Monday (June 8th). We are, however, keeping the payments open until we have 200 paying participants or until June 12th, whichever comes first.
- For those of you interested in how our budget for the con looks like, we are going to publish it after the con is over.

The same applies to the payment confirmation mail. It will typically be caught by a filter and sent to your SPAM box. Unfortunately, it seems that we’ve gotten a problem with our plugin, so that it now doesn’t send the confirmation mails out at all. We’ve contacted our code-guru and he is currently looking at the problem, but we doubt that he’ll be able to fix it in time for this year’s con. So to solve the problem for this year, we’ve made a makeshif sign-up overview on the page “Sign-Up Forms“, where you can see if your sign-up has been registered (we had som problems in the beginning, so if your sign-up hasn’t been registered properly, then please sign up again), who has been registered as pashiri, and if we’ve received your payment. This list is updated manually twice per day (from 10-12 AM and 10-12 PM) until the con starts or we reach 200 payed participants. ]]>
How do I sign up for Genki?
> Just fill out the form on the page “Con Sign-Up“. If you want to sign up for the cosplay show, also fill out the form on the page “Cosplay Sign-Up“.
Am I guaranteed my ticket when I sign up?
> No. Our limit this year (2009) is 200 participants, and it is the 200 first to pay for their ticket that get in, not the first 200 who sign up. So even if you signed up as the very first, hvis 200 people manage to pay for their ticket before you do, you unfortunately won’t get in.
Then how do I pay for my ticket?
> You are to pay by bank transferal. How to do this is written on the page that appears after you sign up for the con. The bank account is close 7 days before the con starts and after this, any remaining un-payed tickets will be sold at the door.
I sent the money yesterday, why haven’t I receive a confirmation e-mail?
> How long it takes between you sending the money and us receiving them depends of factors such as whether you pay over the Internet or at the actual bank register, what bank you are transfering the money from, what time of day you do it at, and what day of the week you do it at. Depending on these factors, it can take anywhere between a few hours to 3-4 bank days (Saturday and Sunday aren’t bank days, so e.g. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday are only two bank days) before we receive the money, and then maybe an additional day or two before the cashier notices the payment and crosses you off the list. Moreover, the confirmation e-mail may have wounded up in your e-mail’s spam box, so be sure to check it every now and again.

Sign-ups
As you can probably see, we have 212 people who have signed up, which breaks our max 200 people limit. However, 16 of them are pashiri, which means they don’t really count towards the max, meaning we have 196 actual participants. If we break the limit of actualy participants, we emphasise that it’s the first 200 people who purchase their ticket that get in.
Our cashier won’t check our account for sign-ups until this weekend, since he has had exams this entire week, so please do not spam our contact mail with questions like “Have you received my payment?“ Odds are that we have received it, but that our cashier hasn’t had time to cross you off the list yet. However, if you haven’t receive an e-mail by Monday (June 1st) confirming that your payment has been received (and for the love of God, check your spam boxes too before panicking), and you’ve paid BEFORE today, Thursday May 27th, then contact us on info@genki.dk and we will confirm it manually.
Sleeping locations
We have contacted the municipal to get permission to rent a school gym so that the participants coming from far-away-places would have a place to sleep. Unfortunately, it seems like they won’t be getting back to us, and with the starting date for Genki 2009 only three weeks away, we simply can’t wait for them any longer. We will try contacting them again tomorrow, but can’t guarantee that we will get the rooms we want in time. Therefore, we now recommend that guests try finding a place on their own, like e.g. (either Copenhagen City [down to 130 DKK per bed per night] or Copenhagen Downtown [down to 75 DKK per bed per night]). The prices are under the condtion that one has a hostel registration card (might only be required if you are 18 years old or older, please check by yourself); if you don’t have one, you can book it online. The card costs 35 DKK per night or 70 DKK for an entire year; if you do not live in Denmark you’ll need an international year card which costs 160 DKK. Order beds well in advance so that you are sure to have a place to sleep. The prices do not include breakfast (as it is cheaper to buy breakfast elsewhere). We recomment that you wait 3-4 days, just in case we get the gym after all, in which case participants have a place to sleep for free. We will update about this as soon as we get a reply.
In connection with the above, we’d like to emphasise that it IS allowed to be at the con all day and all night, you just aren’t allowed to sleep there, unless you are a pashiri. So if you e.g. can’t get a bed reservation for the night between Friday and Saturday, you are more than welcome to stay on con premises, assuming you can stay awake.

We’ve added the page Auction for those of you interested in selling your anime/manga/junk. This is a free service by Genki, så you don’t have to pay any commision fee for entering and we don’t take percentages of the final selling price either; all the money go to the sellers.
The page Events has been updated but is still incomplete. We expect to complete it after our next meeting. ]]>
The last couple of things we need to update include an extensive event desctiption and plan for how the weekend will proceed, but today, during our meeting, we’ll get the last couple of things down.
