1. From October 11th to November 8th, 2025, every Saturday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Markham Civic Centre Outdoor Playground, 101 Town Centre Blvd, Markham, ON L3R 9W3, we have specially invited Chinese national Tai Chi coach Ms. Li Huilan and 2023 “Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show ” competition champions Justin and his coach, Darling, to hold 5 training activities, including shuttlecock kicking, Tai Chi, skipping rope and hula hooping.

2. A shuttlecock kicking competition- “Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2025”, will be held during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The winners of the shuttlecock kicking competition will receive a certificate of honor from guests from the Markham City Government.

“Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2023” was organized by the Canadian Chinese Autism
Awareness Center (CAAC) and co-organized by the Canadian One Family Cultural
Center Canada One Family Network – Love health, love sports and promote
shuttlecock, Tai Chi, and fitness Traditional folk art and cultural activities such as
dancing, rope skipping and hula hoops were held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on December
17th at New Kennedy Square, 8360 Kennedy Rd, Markham, New Kennedy Square,
Markham.
At 12:00 noon, the host Alice Cheung announced the start of the event. Helen Guan,
Director of the Chinese Autism Awareness Center (CAAC) made the first speech,
welcoming the community to participate in the “Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2023”-
Love Health, Love Sports event which was held by CAAC for the first time, hoping to
take this opportunity to promote the traditional folk art and cultural activities which are
benefit for the body and mind, such as shuttlecock kicking, Tai Chi, fitness dance, rope
skipping and hula hoops, also will bring joy to every family member during Canada’s
long and cold winter.
The first performance was Hong Kee Fitness Dance Club, performing energetic and
passionate fitness dance. The followed performance was by the writer Yan Daxia,
reciting Li Bai’s Journey, and Zhu Yanyan dancing with a sword to add to the fun. Ms.
Sun, Guoyan, the 12th generation successor of Chen Style Tai Chi and a sixth-level
Chinese Martial Arts, led Tai Chi students for Tai Chi. Next, a group of teenagers
participated in dazzling rope skipping performances. There was single, double and
group rope skipping. There was also a wonderful hula hoop performance by a beautiful
lady-Smile Ng.

The exciting shuttlecock kicking competition started after a live demonstration by Helen
Guan and York District Councilors Alan Ho. The youngest contestant was 10 years old.
After three rounds of intense competition, the champion, runner-up, third runner-up of
the adult group and the first place of the youth group were selected. They won the gold,
silver and bronze medals of the competition and prizes provided by Wukong Education
respectively. Councilor He issued commemorative certificates to each winner.
Commemorative certificates were also provided to children who participated in
shuttlecock kicking and Tai Chi training.
All participants received a Christmas and New Year gift, and Aspiration & Discoveries
Special Therapy Centre provided a beautiful gift to each child who participated in
Christmas card painting. Chang Kee Trading Company provides lucky draw prizes to
the audience!
Finally, Councilor He issued certificates of appreciation to CAAC, various sponsoring
organizations, community partners and Community Health and Fitness Instructor Sun
Guoyan.

With the beautiful violin playing Christmas music, CAAC “Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show
2023”- came to an end, and the Christmas and New Year Celebrations at Kennedy
Square Mall began. Santa Claus distributed gifts and took photos with the children.
Everyone participated the event all felt the joy of the festival and welcome the coming of
Christmas and the Happy New Year!

NorthStar Special Needs Society (NSNS) is a non-profit organization established in 2021. The purpose of NSNS is to serve children with special needs, primarily autism, and their families. By participating in various sports activities organized by NSNS, children can improve their physical and mental well-being and development, thereby helping them to eventually integrate smoothly into society in the future.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year and strengthen mutual care and support for autistic families, CAAC and NSNS will jointly host a Lunar New Year Family Gathering Party. We will be inviting teachers from the public and private education systems, and family service agencies to meet and communicate with autistic families.

The Canadian Chinese Autism Awareness Center and the Canadian One Family Network jointly held the 2019 Christmas and New Year Gala on December 28, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at  400 Esna Park Drive, Unit 21, 2 Floor. This event was held in the form of a family gathering with potluck, allowing CAAC families to have the opportunity to get to know each other and communicate with each other. It also allowed children to get in touch with some musical instruments and stimulate their physical potential by watching music performances and communicating with artists from the Canadian One Family Network. There was also a lucky draw and gift distribution during the party, and the children all got their favorite gifts.
