]]>Thanksgiving is the holiday of this month. This year, on the 27th, millions of people will be celebrating this day, all around the US. Everyone can agree that the best part about Thanksgiving is not just being grateful for all that has happened, but also eating delicious food. Therefore, I will be providing you with a list, in no particular order, of some of the most scrumptious meals for this season.
1. ROAST TURKEY
This is the centerpiece of most dinners for thanksgiving. There are many different recipes and methods used when making roast turkey, but they are all the most important part of this meal. Turkey is the main dish that we associate with Thanksgiving, but also being extremely delicious and flavorful. It may possibly be considered the best part of dinner.
2. ROASTED VEGETABLES
Roasted vegetables add so much flavour to your food. The variations of vegetables from potatoes, to asparagus. This is another staple, with an intense amount of flavour, and a variety of options to choose from.
3. MASHED POTATOES
Mashed potatoes are a classic. This is a dish that many families, if not all, are serving this holiday. It goes with everything and anything, and there are so many ways to incorporate your own flavour profile as well. Some people like garlic, others like herbs. This is a must when cooking up food for Thanksgiving.
4. MACCARONI AND CHEESE
Although Mac and cheese may seem like a regular dish to eat whenever, it is very often served at Thanksgiving, the perfect side to all the food. It is cheesy, flavourful, and a favorite in many households. Therefore, it is a great option when planning what dishes to make, seeing as it is easy and delicious.
5. CASSEROLES
There are many different types of casseroles that are typically served, but the two most popular are green bean and sweet potato (image to the left) casseroles. These are also considered staples of thanksgiving dinners. They feel like the perfect home-cooked meal, and surely bring comfort to many families. It is simply a classic.
6. GRAVY
Now, although gravy isn’t exactly a dish, it is a very popular and crucial part of thanksgiving dinner. You can put gravy on just about any of the dishes listed above. It is a classic, and makes your food much more divine.
7. CORNBREAD
Cornbread in another one of those staples. It is pleasant, sweet, and flavourful. This dessert is considered to be necessary in Thanksgiving dinners, to end the night with something delectable. Therefore, cornbread is another favorite that must be on the table, ready to eat.
8. PUMPKIN PIE
To end off a perfect dinner, one must enjoy a delicious slice, or more, of pumpkin pie. Now, out of all the pies that are eaten, including apple pie, pecan pie, and sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie is the most popular one to choose for thanksgiving. Its sweet yet spicy flavor, and creamy texture makes it the supreme combination of a dessert to finish for the day.

At just 18 years old and relatively new to acting in major movies, actor Mason Thames has set himself apart from the others. Matching Jim Carrey’s record set about 30 years ago, Mason Thames has elevated his role from celebrity to star. Carrey set the box office record for starring in three movies that reached number one in their opening weekend in 1994, with his films Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber.
Thames, while reaching the same milestone Carrey did, with his movies How to Train Your Dragon, Black Phone 2, and Regretting You, shows the difference in today’s box office. Whereas all of Jim Carrey’s films were comedies, Mason’s were all different genres, with him portraying completely different characters with different personalities.
How to Train Your Dragon is a nostalgic, comforting fantasy where Thames’ character, Hiccup, is introverted and shy. Black Phone 2 is the sequel to the first Black Phone movie, which is a psychological horror film where Finney, Mason Thames’ role, demonstrates courage and solidity. Finally, Regretting You is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s popular romance novel, in which Mason Thames is required to be able to convey the romantic tension between his character, Miller, and McKenna Grace’s character, Clara.
Altogether, Mason Thames is pushed to portray three different types of characters in three different types of movies, thus proving that right now, Hollywood appreciates variety. Seeing as there have been both widely successful and failing movies in 2025, the underlying message shows how, instead of focusing on one series or character type, variety and risk-taking pay off.
Ultimately, Mason’s success has truly shown Hollywood’s development to match what viewers desire, and no matter whether Mason Thames reaches Jim Carrey’s level of stardom or not, one thing can be said: Mason Thames is definitely going places.

“Hantavirus” describes a virus family most frequently spread by rodents. A majority are not spread person-to-person; Andes is an exception. It causes Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), a severe, often deadly respiratory illness. Andes virus is believed to spread from human to human over close, prolonged contact, which makes it significantly less contagious than other historically epidemic-causing viruses, such as Covid-19 or measles or smallpox. Due to its high mortality rate, however, it still poses a danger.
Andes hantavirus is found primarily in South America. It was picked up by the Dutch company Oceanwide Expeditions’s cruise ship, MV Hondius, departing Argentina for a polar cruise to Antarctica. After the outbreak was identified, Spain permitted the ship to dock on the Canary Islands on its way home to the Netherlands on May 10th, and 147 passengers and crew were evacuated to their home countries. By May 18th, the ship was in the Netherlands, docked at the Port of Rotterdam for a thorough disinfection.
As of May 2026, there have been 11 confirmed cases worldwide and 3 reported deaths. Exposed passengers may have spread the virus to the US, Canada, Spain, and France, among other countries. There are no confirmed cases in the US yet, and passengers are being monitored for up to 42 days to account for the virus’s incubation period (1-6 weeks).
A typical victim of hantavirus often becomes infected via rodents (cleaning rodent-infested spaces, breathing in rodent-contaminated dust, touching rodent nests, etc.). Easy prevention advice, according to the CDC is as follows:
- ventilate rodent-infested spaces before cleaning them
- clean with disinfectant instead of just sweeping
- use gloves and masks
Overall:
Will hantavirus become a pandemic? According to the CDC and WHO, probably not.
Why? It spreads inefficiently, requiring prolonged contact (such as rubbing elbows on a cruise ship), and authorities have isolated all those potentially carrying it.
]]>St Patrick’s Day commemorates Saint Patrick, the 5th-century patron saint of Ireland, who brought Christianity to the country. The day is celebrated on March 17th every year, as it originated as a religious feast, but later evolved into a global celebration of Irish culture. People celebrate with green attire, feasts and parades. As for traditions, the shamrock, used by Patrick to explain the Holy Trinity, became a symbol. Additionally, people commonly eat corned beef and cabbage.

]]>A few of the most popular shows of recent have an entirely new principal cast! One of which being Hadestown which includes Joshula Colley as Orpheus, Jordan Tyson as Eurydice, J. Harrison Ghee as Hermes, and Gaby Moreno as Persephone. Wicked is another show with an almost entire new principal cast.
Along with this there are several particularly noteworthy people who have made Broadway debuts and appearances this season. Some of which include Tom Felton reprising an older version of his role of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, His former co-star Daniel Radcliff comes back to broadway again starring in Every Brilliant Thing a one man play.
SNL star Maya Ruldlpoh join the cast of Oh Mary! as the titular character, and of course the news of the season, rapper Megan Thee Stallion makes her stage debut as the Master ofCeremonies Zilder in Moulin Rouge! Making her the second best part of her show, number one being the fact that it’ll close one day!
Additionally to all those there are a multitude of shows opening this season with an amazing cast! A stage adaptation of the movie Beaches, a revival of Cats: The Jellicle Ball prominently the revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show showcasing a collection of theatre stars including:
Rachel Dratch as the narrator, Josh Rivera as Rocky, Juliette Lewis as Magenta, Stephenie Hsu as Janet and Amber Gray who just exited Hadestown as Riff Raff.

The first wacky sport is called Ice stock. This is when two teams of four players aim to get their stock (pucks) as close to something called the Daube as possible. The Daube is a rubber dick like shape that serves as a target for the competitors to aim for. The team that gets the closest wins! This sounds oddly close to the sport that we all have seen at least once: curling. They both have a puck and a marker to aim for, but they have a few differences. The first is that curing uses sweeping to create or reduce friction on the ice, which controls how far the puck moves. Curling is also done on pebbled ice. However, Ice stock is done on thick, unbroken ice and is done without sweeping. Ice stock is no longer in the Olympics because the more popular sport ,curling, was too similar to it, and got more people to watch.
Next, we have a sport called skeleton. This sport is when you run as fast as you can, throw down your very small but nimble sled, and slide head first on ice at speeds of up to almost 81 miles per hour. I would be terrified if I had to do this and would not touch it with a ten foot pole, but this sport is actually quite popular in Great Britain, the United States of America, Germany, and Switzerland. Although this sport is popular, it is very dangerous because if you fall off, you are rolling on hard ice at high speeds and crashing into the closed wall. There have been many reports of traumatic brain injuries and even death from this sport. Despite this, it is still in the Winter Olympics and this year in 2026, the U.S.A placed seventh, with the female gold medalist being from Austria, and the male from Great Britain.
The next sport and one of the most impressive sports to watch is called aerials. It is kind of like an aerial trick where you do a cart well with a little pop and do not use your hands. However, this sport is not just the trick, it is 10 levels higher. Not only are contestants on skis, but they build momentum, slide up a large ramp, fling themselves into the air, and do crazy acrobatic skills. An aerial trick is only 360 degree turns slightly off the ground, but the sport aerial is doing 720 and 1,080 degree turns at a standard. The most anybody has ever turned in this sport was when competitor Noè Roth did a full-triple-full-full trick in the 2022 games. This is 5 twists(1,800 degree turns) and 3 flips (1,080 degree turns). This adds up to 2,880 degrees and is one of the most impressive moments in all of aerial history. This year, China won both the female and the male bracket. These competitors were Xu Mangtoe for the female bracket, and Wang Xindi for the male bracket.
So, all in all, the Winter Olympics are home to many different unique sports that are practiced throughout the world, and is a very good opportunity to learn about them!
