In addition to the feature, audiences of this special event will be treated to brand-new exclusive content.

Do not mourn for me

Thought I’d get that out of the way right at the top. Yes, this is indeed the movie that ‘killed’ Optimus Prime, seeing the rise of Hot Rod as the Autobots new leader Rodimus Prime. It’s also the film that saw a bunch of other fan-favorite characters killed off, and replaced by characters that… would also become fan-favorites. Yep, Transformers had it like that back in the 80s.

For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron (Frank Welker). As the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons rages on Earth, an even greater threat looms. Unicron (Orson Welles, Citizen Kane), a colossal converting planet who consumes everything in his path, is heading for Cybertron to devour the Transformers homeworld and wipe the Autobots and Decepticons from existence. The only hope is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. With new enemies hunting them down and dangers lurking in every corner of the galaxy, the Autobots take on a perilous mission to save their planet that will alter their destiny forever. 

Fathom Events

Needless to say, if you’re a fan of the property, The Transformers: The Movie is a classic. And now it’s on the way back to theaters, just in time for the 35th anniversary.

The film will be making the leap back to the big screen thanks to Fathom Events and Hasbro. Unfortunately though, that’s the only bit of info that we have right now. Times, dates, and participating theaters are still unannounced, though that’ll all presumably be filled in soon enough.

According to Fathom, Hasbro will be holding its next Transformers-themed stream on August the 13th, at 11am eastern time. So if you’re a fan of the bots from Cybertron, make sure you tune into HasbroPulse.

A landmark animated feature, The Transformers: The Movie was an instant classic for fans. The actual cartoon show was insanely popular at the time of course, and the movie carried over everything from that. But it also fundamentally changed the property.

After the film credits ran, there was no more Optimus Prime, and a few of his old guard were gone as well. On the Decepticon side, Megatron had become Galvatron, and some of the most popular villains were changed as well.

In their places were a host of new Cybertronians. Rodimus Prime led heroes like Ultra Magnus and Blur in more futuristic-toned adventures. Of course, none of that lasted. The Transformers canon has been changed almost as many times as Prime transformed in that original show.

Nonetheless though, the movie is still a pretty big deal for old school fans. And it’s also the origin for many enduring characters like the ones mentioned above. And now it’s back.

Thanks to Fathom Events, the movie is set to hit theaters for one night only. September 27th (a Thursday) is the date, and 7pm local is the time. That’s when you’ll be able to see a fully remastered The Transformers: The Movie on the big screen in full HD.

Not just the movie

While the film is the centerpiece of the evening, fans will be treated to lots more if they score a ticket. Music videos and an interview with singer Stan Bush, and a sneak peek at the live-action Bumblebee movie also await.

This special one-night event will catapult audiences into the super-charged, action-packed TRANSFORMERS universe, and enables lifelong fans to relive the excitement and awe of this 1986 animated feature. Fans will also get an exclusive behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the making of this December’s BUMBLEBEE, as well as a brand-new interview with singer-songwriter Stan Bush, including recent performances of the theme songs “The Touch” and “Dare.” Moviegoers will be able to enjoy the film in over 700 select U.S. movie theaters. The Facts

On July 31, Pokémon Company International announced that they had teamed with Fathom Events to bring the newest “Pokémon” film outside of Asia. The movie will be screened in locations around the world on Sunday, November 5, and Monday, November 6.

The film was originally released July 15 in Japan, grossing 516 million yen (roughly $4.61 million) in its first two days and ranking #1 at the box office.

The Pokémon Company describes the film as follows:

Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is an origin story highlighting Ash and Pikachu’s first meeting and their adventures as they search for the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. The iconic pair encounter familiar faces along the way, new characters including Trainers Verity and Sorrel, and even a mysterious new Mythical Pokémon, Marshadow. Challenges and epic Pokémon battles abound in this unique new story about the beginning of one of the most beloved friendships in popular culture.

Even if its only for two days, this is a great opportunity for fans and newcomers alike to see “Pokémon” on the big screen. Hopefully some theatre listings will be released soon.
